Pred/Observer combo. I tend to focus more on the pred's expierence in general; regardless if I'm self-inserting or not.

As far as general preferences go: soft vore, oral vore, similar/same-size, digestion with mild weight gain, any type of prey willingness, and (by far the most important) a pred who gets aroused by vore.
I also sometimes like hard vore and non-oral/alt. vore if in the mood. Same with alternative, non-scat disposal (oral digestion into cum with male/herm preds is a favorite of mine, as well as regurgitating remains). Multi-prey is excellent too (one of the rare times I can get into macro/micro).
Other things I love are niche scenarios like predator couples/multi-pred stuff in general (mainly ones that involve the preds getting it on at some point), and 'bad endings' for preds (i.e. anything ranging from getting caught to stomach bursting).
Gender combinations also don't matter much to me, so I like F/anything, M/anything, H/anything, etc. about equally, same with the pred's gender. But if you had to twist my arm and ask me to pick one, I'd probably lean towards male preds and M/F (since they're more of a novelty/rarity in vore with the added bonus of being very easy to both self-insert and observe).
My dislikes in vore can be pretty specific, so to keep from rambling, I'll condense them. First off, my major pet peeve in vore is the common 'overly stretchy/indestructible belly' trope. As much as I like the pred to be powerful, there comes a point where it enters Mary-Sue territory and just feels dumb/ridiculous. I also tend to be very picky when it comes to how the pred is portrayed, so I generally dislike vore content created by prey-aligned people, since they tend to fall into the binary categories of 'fluffy uwu' pred or 'invincible serial killer' pred; I like the more balanced, 'three-dimensional' ones. With prey, the only ones I dislike are those who cry/beg (or any other overly pitiful reactions) and inncocent ones who haven't done anything to warrant the pred to kill them non-consensually. Unwilling prey are fine as long as the pred's rationale is somewhat sound and not just 'I'm hungry' or 'I'm evil'.

So, tallying up this thread so far, it appears as if people who prefer being prey/observer are pretty well represented across all genders/races/sexes/sexual orientations but preds are concentrated mostly around bisexual/gay white men and straight/bi females.

I'm the predanon from the post above you, so I'll give my best guess as to why the trend exists. This is only my speculation from personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt.
I think the reason straight/bi women and gay/bi men tend to be preds has to do with the pred's role being the one getting penetrated. Despite all the hype surrounding preds being the dominating party, they're still getting penetrated at the end of the day (especially if they're taking large insertions like same-size prey). For women, this isn't much of an issue, since they generally aren't the penetrators irl and most often have no drive to do so (favoring being penetrated instead). For men, it's a different story.
With straight men in particular, many may feel squeamish about being penetrated in any way, since being penetrated is accociated with femininity and/or submission. I've even seen arguments about how stimulating your own prostate or sucking your own dick is gay/emasculating, because they involve penetration despite being solo acts. This point of view seems to be common in my expierence, so you can understand how a guy would have to be at least a little bit 'gay' to enjoy being a male pred. Because no matter how domineering the male pred is, he's still ultimately getting sexual enjoyment from being penetrated by someone else (whether orally, anally, etc.). Not to mention the emphasis that's usually put on the pred feeling 'full' or 'stuffed' afterwards (a sensation most straight men don't typically find sexual pleasure in).
Additionally, even if the prey is female and the pred is male, it can still be viewed as a form of 'pegging' (which is also commonly seen as an emasculating act). What makes this interesting is that vore is one of the only sexual practices where the penetrated party is in a truly dominant position (literally trapping and often killing the penetrating party). But for a lot of would-be male preds, this still wouldn't detract from the fact that they'd be getting off to being penetrated and having a woman go inside them instead of vice-versa. Just to add in a brief anecdote, I personally wouldn't consider myself feminine or say I have any obviously 'campy' traits that would publically spell out '. I enjoy sucking cock. ' (or part-time . You may have misunderstood, I have no desire to RP as prey, nor be dominated; I prefer being either pred or observer, or both (depending on the scene). I RP/chat with other guys who also prefer being pred/observer switches (which are rare), because ironically (despite being pred) I've grown tired of interacting with prey-type people. I now do stuff like pred couples/multipred scenarios or post-vore sex with preds/as the pred, I've never RPed as prey and probably never will.
I'm just giving my personal expierences of looking for irl female pred partners, so if I come off as jaded or cynical, it's because I've personally had no luck in finding one. I used to write my own vore, but lately I've lost the free time and motivation for it. They were short little stories/scenarios and also longer ones (which I usually never finished lol). But they were never posted anywhere, just kept privately on my computer to look back on once in a while.
A lot of them would probably only appeal to me, since they're highly tailored to my specific tastes. If you're curious (hah) about them I could explain a bit, but I probably wouldn't feel comfortable straight-up posting them anywhere but my private folder.
Like you, I also only RP rarely, since a very large majority of the vore community is prey, so I got the general vibe that everything was catered towards them.
And to make it more awkward, I actually prefer the prey to have little screentime/presence, so that the pred is the main focus in vore. It's why I love multi-pred/pred couples/post-vore sex/etc.
But even if I did find other preds, I would sometimes disagree with how they played them.
I think I unironically have some form of autism where I get very picky about how the pred is portrayed.
There's a certain nuance I like where the pred is more like a complex 3D character than a 2D cutout. I don't know why that is, it's just something I've been cursed with.

Generally observer, as I like when implications are made in vore. I do also like the idea of being prey too, though.

Implications: One of the big triggers for me is when certain things are left for your imagination to fill in the blanks. Being shown the end results of vore such as the complete digestion and scat doesn't allow your imagination to create its own narrative, like a horror film showing all its cards and leaving the audience without a certain amount of mystery. The end being left ambiguous lets me fantasize further about what happens next, and also brings more emphasis on the actual process of being eaten. And more often than not, what my imagination comes up with from an implication is far more arousing than an actual end.
Multiple prey: BIG turn-on when pred devours one prey, and other prey can only watch as their comrade is sent to their fate, while also knowing that they will soon join first prey inside. The implied "you're next" drastically increases the tension of the situation, leading to a bigger pay-off.

Over-the-top gore/scat: the dismemberment of the prey is more jarring than it is arousing, and also gives off the aura of trying too hard to be edgy. Scat itself is simply disgusting.
Hyper-extended bellies: A 5'10 girl eating an entire whale or the human-mass equivalent breaks immersion, being too far from the realm of the believeable. Few instances of less extreme versions of this stretching are arousing, if done well.
Gas and overly exaggerated/gassy burps: Another immersion killer that shows more of a filty slob than it shows something attractive. Too cartoonish.

I have been on Discord for a week (of all places) expecting to find a community most unburdened by the prejudices of old. I am not capricious, nor paranoid, but, having experience with actual girls, I can see through RP bullshit like x-ray, and only ask not to be lied to. Yet, some individuals are so deranged that they insist that they are female even on polls (!!!!!!) and fail to provide a single glimpse of knowledge about how women actually work, let alone a non-stolen selfie.
