One in every 200 people in Britain is homeless – sleeping on the streets or stuck in temporary accommodation, including hostels and B&Bs, according to analysis from housing charity Shelter. Getting a job is often presented as a solution to getting people off the streets. But work does not always offer a route out of poverty, and many people who are in work continue to face housing insecurity. Legendy świata: Przypowieść afrykańska. Skorpion i żaba.
Pewnego razu nad brzegiem rzeki spotkała się żaba i skorpion. Oboje chcieli przedostać się na drugą stronę.
Dla żaby, która była świetną pływaczką przeprawa nie była niczym nadzwyczajnym. Skorpion jednak nie był stworzeniem wodnym postanowił więc przekonać żabę, aby mu pomogła.
Długo ją namawiał jednak żaba twierdziła, że nie może mu pomóc, gdyż zna sztuczki skorpiona i obawia się, że ten ją ukąsi swoim śmiercionośnym żądłem w trakcie przeprawy. W końcu skorpion powiedział, że ukąszenie żaby kiedy płynęliby przez głęboką rzekę byłoby z jego strony bardzo głupim zachowaniem. Przecież wtedy on sam zginąłby w rwącym nurcie.
Ten argument przekonał żabę. Pozwoliła skorpionowi wejść na swój grzbiet i wskoczyła do wody. Gdy byli na środku rzeki skorpion wykonał gwałtowny ruch odwłokiem i śmiertelnie ukąsił żabę. Gdy oboje zaczęli tonąć żaba z wyrzutem zapytała dlaczego skorpion to zrobił. Przecież przez to oboje zginą. Skorpion odrzekł krótko, że nic nie mógł na to poradzić taka już jest jego natura i musiał to zrobić.
Morał z tej przypowieści jest następujący. Każdy chce wierzyć, że Ci z którymi mamy do czynienia mogą się zmienić. Zmiana taka jest jednak bardzo trudna i w większości przypadków kończy się porażką.
