Not sure how I feel about that one OP. I can't even beat Gumshoe.
I tried installing the dsi functionality of the emulator that supposedly supports it to no avail. I don't want to get out my 3ds with its small screen if I can help it.

It's not that bad and IIRC you don't even need to do it, it's just a little extra help. Those balloons pop up very rarely.

So I finally figured out that things you unlock on the start screen (by eating the red fish) disappears once you unlock more, so there's a limit of how many stuff you can have on screen at once I guess.
Anyone knows if there's more Mother 3-related stuff besides the pigmask, Ocho/Hachi the octopus and the merman oxygen machine? I had all 3 of them but I kept unlocking stuff and now the pigmask is gone.
