>16952230 I don't know, it's just what I heard, and it makes sense to me. What conflict is even left in the series if a piece of gravemind didn't escape with Cortana/the Chief? Both the Covenant and the Flood are "dead".* Major plot lines I still see left to explore are:
The Arbiter; what will come of his homeworld and his eventually meeting with the Chief again. A touch of tragedy if he's just a little bit too late and the flood infection progresses too far for them to meet as friends. We could spend most of the game with the usual bullshit padding, just fighting funny monkey brutes. I'll admit the true halo stuff was just bullshit I made up in my head but the Covenant cult stuff is ancient, ancient stuff and comes from far before they even found their first ringworld. I thought it'd be interesting if there were some truth to it which had NOTHING to do with the Forerunner meme stuff. It'd also create some interesting dualism between the two campaigns.
For Master Chief, who's out in the middle of space, there's not a whole lot. One thing that's certain is that he's going to need a whole lot of new bullshit to share with the UNSC or the Arbiter, once they find him again, whether that's to do with the Flood, a spiritual awakening he had within the cryostasis dream levels about Humanity and their duty as the sons of the Forerunners, whatever. Whatever great discovery he makes within the middle of space, I thought it might be enough to turn him against the Arbiter and his New Covenant once again as enemies, if any of that even applies.
*Either could come back I guess, with the Covenant in complete disarray and the Elites available to pick the mantle up again but let's save that for the Arbiter story. The Flood coming back is just a given but I'd want a sick new twist on it. Figure out what the hell Cortana and Gravemind's psychic messages were all about.
