Gameplaywise it looks rather enjoyable, but it requires downgrading to Win10 and setting up an Xbox live account, even if you buy the game through steam. Both of these things were huge red flags for me so I didn't bother.

Unfortunately the only real alternative I'm aware of is Blackwake, which is based upon a much shorter and more repetitive round based system, and has also apparently been all but abandoned by the devs after filling it to the brim with cosmetics.

So, I guess I'm still waiting for a decent pirate game.

I like the idea behind it, but it's just another modern game. Doesn't support enough bullying, has a lot of grinding and microtransactions in it and is gay overall. The art style is ugly as fuck and colorful to make the game look less threatening. You can't make yourself a cute looking female character because good looking is not politically correct. The combat is total aids too, very basic and no advance moves.

I saw the stream of Vinny playing it, and based on the timing I'd assume that's why you posted this here too. From what I could see from the stream it's got some good concepts but is ultimately too overly simplistic. If it were to get an autistically detailed sequel with more of everything, more areas to explore, more weapons to own, more varieties of ships, more money sinks besides cosmetics, it would probably be a top-tier game.

The main premise is very good - its surprising that there were no actual pirate games made with pvpve in mind sooner tbh. The game itself lacks depth but its fun in short bursts when you play with 2-3 buddies. Wish there was more depth to combat, trading and pvp interactions

You say "more depth" as if the game has some depth. It doesn't, the game is very shallow and superficial. This is the kind of game you get when you hire a bunch of people who can code well, but have never touched or seen a game in their live before. There is basically no gameplay in there.

It's honestly all I've ever wanted in a Pirate game, I played it on the Microsoft pass for a month when it was a dollar. Before that I was honestly considering begging a bunch of my friends to download the Chinese Malware that is Archeage, just so we make a crew of Dwarves, power level til you can get a boat, and start exploring.

It's got all the miscellaneous shit you want in a Pirate game. Beer, Rowboats, Music playing, Shooting each other out of Cannons. I loved just standing around playing the guitar when my other two buddies were doing real work trying to keep the ship steady. I burnt down the boat twice cause I left maggots cooking on the ship's stove. Once I was locked in the brig, boiling in water as the ship filled with water, while one friend was busy trying to loot an active Volcano and the other was trying to repair as fast as possible. It's the shitposting and dicking around with them that made me look back and smile.

All the characters were just a little bit ugly which was really charming. I played the Big Fat Cannon Ball of a Man, but I also had a Neanderthal looking Pirate and Jew with long Blonde Hair apart of my crew.

I miss it bros.

Not everything has to be a Waifu maker and not everything is Politics, It's just a Cartoony Artstyle. When you play as your Waifu and actually interact with other players, you're presenting yourself as either a Tranny or a Coomer, man. Keep that to Singleplayer.

I disagree. I want beautiful characters in my games. They can show ugly side characters every once in a while, but I don't want too many of them. In sot every character is ugly. They do not allow you to make good looking characters.

I am not flirting with anyone online… or creating a pretty character so other people can jerk off too it… Or pretending to be female… I want a good looking character because I want something nice to look at while play.
