Polished RA, updating the heck out of it and getting majority of games to run even the hard to emulated cores like GC or PSP.
So far everything went good and runs at top speed. Was a little hazzle to get psp to run with the asset folders and what not original fonts.
Wii emulation is almost shit, wii u emulation is pure shit, gc emulation is so 50/50. I am sure RetroArch could handle them well if there was a better support for those cores but i guess emu devs are way too much full of themselve which might not end with the high horse behavior at retorarch.

I haven't tried emulating PSP on a PC but a PSP is a worthy purchase if you want something portable. In terms of value per dollar they are pretty much unmatched in the handheld department; maybe a 2ds could come close if you got it cheap. I guess the best way to decide between the two would be whether you want to play PSP and PSX games or DS and 3DS games.

When I'm on the go I've got either something to do or I'll just read a book. It has nothing to do with how I look to the outside world, that's your projection. It has to do with the fact that gaming on the go is a terrible experience. The screen is gonna be awful, small, worse quality, I can't sit in a comfortable chair, I can't pick a controller I want, I can't continue the games that are on my PC on the go with regards to button configs and saves. And the games that are being played on the go are generally casual trash meant for short bursts while I prefer the type of game that I can genuinely sit down for and get into.
All in all it's much easier for me to pick up and read a few pages if I do ever get into the position of being both outside and inactive. I could also do some physical activity instead being outside and all. Handhelds are so you can drag your children with you to places like relatives but even now they've got phones that play fortnite you barely even need to keep them occupied with a handheld any longer. But glad you asked for the exact reason. I don't consider handheld gaming something you do for fun given all the complications and inferiority that comes with the trade-of. That's just my two cents.

You can run zelda at 1080p60 solid in 10 year old hardware, post your specs if you feel like I'm lying and I can get you help set up. Dolphin is harder to run in some instances.
People tend to underestimate their settings configuration and overestimate their spec power, that is why you have people with seemingly shitty laptop specs running things better than people with full dedicated builds.

Emulating a Nintendo Switch doesn't require a powerful gpu for native 1080p emulation, you need a modern processor for it instead unless you're using xenia.
This guy has a 2600K, replace it with a ryzen 3600 or even a 9900k if you're feeling bold and it should emulate very well. Yuzu takes up like 8% on my 1080ti. Gonna look for more videos to prove my point.

I would advise against that on PPSSPP. If you have to do it, make sure you always run the same version of the emulator throughout your playthrough. I fucked myself with save states and regular saves while trying to play at home and at work with a newer version of the emulator.

Been emulating a lot of DOS under PCem. Made a pre-packaged pre-configured setup if anyone wants a copy. The first time you run it you need to point it at the hard drive disk image file, after that you just click on the play button. You don't need to mess with command line, mount CD's, mount floppy disks, or do anything besides pick the game you want to play. About 1GB archived and about 2GBs unpacked. You can find it on the rom depot under homebrew DOS. Get the 0.8 pack, I'll wipe the 0.7 later this week.

Literally everything + in the easiest manner possible. With a PSP-1000 I remember only having to modify the battery (or buy a pre-modded one) and then you can easily install custom firmware 5.50 Prometheus.
You can then play a bunch of video formats by downloading a video player application, NES games SNES games, N64 games, PS1, PSP, and perhaps others.
But yeah, I always remember explicitly buying a 100X since it was easier to mod back then.

You can add Retroarch to Steam and the controller will appear as an Xinput device to Retroarch. Make sure you configure the mappings by right clicking on the steam shortcut first since Steam will default it to Mouse+KB emulation.
It works in most games.

It still makes me wonder how the PCSX2 Emulator still hasn't made any progress (when ironically the PS2 was the weakest console at the time).

Was itching for a good side-scroller beat-em-up a couple months back so i emulated PS3 and played Dragon's Crown and Odin's Sphere. Gorgeous art and fun gamepaly. Wish Vanillaware and Atlus would stop being assfaggots and release Dragon's Crown Pro port on PC already cause playing solo gets boring fast. Most recently emulated PS2 Altered Beast and Drakengard, both games i was really hyped to play as a kid but never got around to. Altered Beast is forgettable and Drakengard's gameplay is a pain but the story is something else, would recommend to masochists.

Have been emulating for years, Romstation is a very useful software and rom database for beginners. If you get interested in emulating, I recommend you to try emulating on other platforms like Android (currently trying to make a stable ps2 emulation) or try emulating more recent consoles on your computer (stuck trying to emulate 3ds on windows).
BTW: advice for ps2 emulation: make sure you check the video settings of your emulator so you will enjoy a nice stable a fluid gaming experience. (there are some YouTube videos that might help you)

The fact that you know more about Smash than I do is pretty telling. I've never even touched the damn game. You know enough about it to abbreviate parts of it and about the state of balance, which requires a pretty deep knowledge. So the issue with Smash is a mediocre Ridley. (don't quite get the other reference) Myself personally think the issue is that, for a platformer fighting game, you don't need to platform anymore. In Ultimate, they decided that rather than, how it had always worked, (maybe not in 4 either) to make ledges a free recovery. So in order to balance this they just make you fly off the edge of the screen at 80%, because this is more 'epic' or something. I don't really get it either. I think this is the biggest reason personally why I don't think the game can ever be good. It's a much bigger issue than a single character that is meant to be OP (large and fast) in the game its originated from; being mediocre (assumed) in a game where everyone dies at 80%. I theorized why they went with the ledge-buff or whatever you want to call it is due to the fact that in 8-player mode hogging ledges would be extremely OP. But truly all you do is throw around baseless assumptions about who I am as a person or what I do, rather than respond to the contents in my post, this is extremely odd behavior if you think about it logically and only proving my initial post right. This is an emulation thread. I like to talk about games. Ultimate's issue is not a single character or two. It's the core which made me decide against playing it. I do like the attention to detail in the character introductions though. Moveset origins and shit is pretty fascinating for characters I care about. But thanks for asking before assuming. You had 50% chance of being right after-all. With those odds, who wouldn't?
As for the rest. I already addressed it in my initial post. It's unfortunate people can never make it past that. I suppose my analogy could use some work. It's something I came up with on my own after-all.

Tried emulating Metroid prime 2 (metroid prime trilogy) with pc controls but after a lot of work it still crashed and I gave up on it. Then I tried both Link to the past and metroid zero mission but after playing about 1h each the save files got corrupted. Fuck emulation
