Firstly they're shutting down because the website started missing the whole point of the webring (everyone not being on the same site).
Secondly they're not actually shutting down, just deleting most boards.
Thirdly everyone everywhere else will be unaffected by this admin's decision, unlike in a centralized website where literally everyone would be fucked, thus the webring is working as intended.
