I enjoy playing Skyrim. It's been a while since I've played the game and I'm thinking about reinstalling it and all the mods that I care about. The mod list would consist mostly of quality of life improvements and immersion mods, such as frostfall, camp fire, etc. Other mods to make the leveling static (as in enemies fuck you up if you're not ready for them) and combat mods such as combat AI and TK dodge, to make it more interesting instead of a left click spam fest. Maybe some bleak ENB, climates of tamriel and whatnot.
Anyway, since the main storyline is shit and I would need to play thousands of hours to beat it on this difficulty setting, I want to simply play to explore and collect all the priests masks/all the gems. This type of playthrough would be ideal, no idiotic story line, only me, my leveling up, running away from trolls and dragons and barely escaping alive from encounters with bears and bandits, as it should be. Preparing properly for going into the wilderness for a day or two and then coming back to lick my wounds and prepare for another excursion. The problem here is that, as far as I know, there is no way to know where the gems/masks are without a walkthrough. Does any anon here know how to find them in a lore friendly manner (i.e: without looking on the internet) and without having to explore every single nook and cranny of every hill on the off chance that some developper decided to drop it there? Something like an NPC that informs you about them, or a list of hints/riddles that allows you to get an aproximate location.

Skyrim is utter shit. This is coming from someone who probably has over a 100 hours playing and genuinely likes the concept of an open world RPG and Elder Scrolls.
No matter how much I tried to improve it or approach it with an open mindset its always the most boring tedious shit.
I pray one day a total overhaul mod comes out that add in attributes, interesting quests, revamped dungeons and stat/playstyle significant.
I tried to make it a hardcore simulation with Requiem and Frostfall or whatever the names were and even then it was just tedious on top of being so fucking script heavy that it causes Bethesda incompetently coded engine to drag and die.

Skyrim is fundamentally broke. Mods can't fix it. The NPC's are boring, there is nothing really going on in the world of skyrim. There are no rare items to find, no rare items to discover. You have to be a very low standard person to enjoy this game. Not even as a porn game it's good. Because I tried that too.
