Post games that fell under the radar, or are otherwise obscure games. Pic-related came out almost a year ago and I played it for a while, thought it was fun but it fell into my backlog and I'm just getting back into it. It's an RPG with survival mechanics, and the combat is Souls-like (I hate using that phrase but it's the only way I can describe it) added with traps you can put down. It's pretty heavy on survival shit like having to eat food and drink water every so often, or wearing gear that fits the climate. There also isn't even a map marker for yourself so you have to memorize places and there's no fast travel.

Outward is great. It's like BOTW with actual stuff to do but without the polish. It has those old CRPG quest lines where you don't find them if you don't look for them, and there aren't floating waypoints or quest markers and shit.
I just realised Nintendo is capable of taking an idea, refining the gameplay to a T and giving it this great "feel", and then polishing the shit out of it.

It's a decent game but the world feels a tad drawn out at times, compared to something like Gothic. They did a lot with it aesthetically but it still feels like the game could have been "condensed" slightly sometimes. I think gathering materials for new gear could be a little less grindy. Still a cool game for exploration that throws unexpected twists at you, like if you get captured by that one fortress and then have to break out of the dungeon (which can happen right at the beginning of the game). The interface isn't the greatest though.

I think the one major thing I don't like about it is how the combat feels sluggish. Like let's say when you hit an enemy with a melee weapon it looks like the hit stutters. It just doesn't feel smooth but after a while you get used to it.

I saw a guy playing this. You had to drop your backpack to avoid fat-rolling in combat. It had co-op, but I didn't know if that worked locally over LAN so I never bothered to pirate the game. You didn't actually die if you fail in combat, you just get dragged off and wake up in a nearby place with some stat penalties. The world looked big and the progression looked grindy. Likely a "it's better with friends" kinda game.

Fucking lol, you can't even die in this game, it's unironically impossible to die. This game is a piece of fucking shit, and the most disappointing game in recent memory. It destroys every last drop of your immersion every time you have to meet NPCs because they can't be fought or stolen from. You can get abducted by bandits as one of your """death""" events and made to work as a slave, only to then swipe every single item in their hideout and walze out the door in front of their eyes. You also can't fight them, as you might imagine from "NPCs can't be fought".
There's some mildly interesting combat mechanics, but from what I know it never makes it more interesting. The only reason to play this game is if you want to play Dark Souls with an immortal character and also spend most of your time walking instead of fighting.

I was waiting for the game to come out on TPB and it was a fucking disappointment, the first few hours of the game are relatively fun since you're mostly exploring the world and finding new stuff but after that you realize how fucking empty and devoid of life the world is, nevermind the fact that most quests have you go from one area to another (wich takes around 30 minutes) with no fast travel or anything interesting happening while sprinting from point A to point B with the reward being shit most of the time. Exploring dungeons is only for exploration sake and checking out the cool looking places, since most of the time the loot is shit and not worth the time. Combat is decent but gets boring fast, fighting bigger/stronger enemies consists of you hitting them and then running away with them not being able to do anything to counter this. The world seems interesting at first but there's nothing that goes deep into the lore, basically it's all surface shit with no interesting explanation.
And don't forget the devs and the insufferable faggots defending all this shit because they are 'hardcore-survival' elements, and if you don't like them you can go back to playing Skyrim.

That's something I'm used to from Monster Hunter. "Hit stops," as they are called, are very satisfying in that game because they only occur when you do a ton of damage. It gives you the impression of your weapon tearing through the monster.

There being no fast travel isn't a bad thing. I actually want more RPGs to not have it. But I agree the zones are too big and empty so I can see why fast travel would be a good option in this game. They should've added mounts as an alternative to getting around faster.

Played an old ass freeware game that recently released on steam called Soldat, instead of using guns I'd bum rush people with the chainsaw like a drooling psychotic retard.

No not really. I only played it at the time because I wanted to play something that looked like Lineage 2. It is grindy as fuck but you have the option to auto-grind which is where you don't even press anything your characters just automatically fight. It's an MMO in the sense that you see other players and if I remember correctly you could still do content with them, but you can also choose to go by yourself with your "family" (the game calls it that) which is your group of party members. However I do remember the music being good as I said earlier. Maybe there's a private server that tones down the grind I might check out.
