New trailer for Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated
I was a bit worried about how this remake/remaster was going to turn out, but the boss fights in particular look pretty good. The only thing bugging me is how stiff Spongebob's character animations look, but I guess it doesn't want to stray to far from the original in that aspect? Oh well.

I honestly don't like the art direction as a whole. It screams "$3 3D indie game on Steam." Everything is way too bright, the bloom effect is distracting in certain cases, a lot of the level structures (canyon sides, buildings, etc.) look like they're missing key details that was meant to reflect the art style of the show, and overall the game looks like the artists were struggling to find a mix between cartoony and realistic. Especially considering how accurate to the show the original version was and the fact that its was a 6th gen game while this is 8th gen and manages to fall short, I don't see why fans of the original would waste their time. If the developers don't spend most of their time working on the multiplayer content and add some new stuff to the original campaign, I might pirate and see for myself what they added.

Everything looks nice and smooth if you aren't paying attention but for some reason all the animations seem off to me. Mostly things feel too slow or like too bouncy.
Also the forced baby mode on boss fights where it tells you where shit's gonna land seems pretty annoying. Though, their target audience is children (Probably, even though this game was probably made because of speedrunning), so I guess I see why it exists (Doesn't mean I support that gay baby shit though)
Something tells me this game will kind of disappear quickly

It's called a half-assed UE4 port, just like they're doing with Destroy All Humans. The only difference is that Renderware had better looking default assets since it was made by Criterion instead of the Borderlands company.

The original game is good (as in it has good level design, excellent music, great use of the licensed IP, etc.) which is why it always gets a mention in licensed game threads. Think of it as what Hit-and-Run was to Simpsons. Same could also be applied to the Movie game, which is just BFBB 1.5. They were too easy though, but the game was marketed towards children so i'll let it slide.

I want it to be good, but man i need to see final gameplay before i can really judge. The Gamesworld Demo didn't really impress me, nothing especially wrong, but there was just alot of little changes that just irk me, like how the screen needed to fade to black to load the cutscene, where as the gamecube version just snapped to the characters talking.

The movie game eventually gets somewhat difficult. BFBB definitely never hits that point though yeah.
Movie game is a very blatant sequel, doesn't exactly always hit a good curve from an individual game perspective.
Its still pretty great regardless but it is a pretty notable flaw when looking at it objectively.

Nigger you know full well I googled the game's name and saved the first result that wasn't covered in websites watermarks.
The game is great though, and amazingly has a large, active modding community. They've done incredible things with the game, including turning it into completely different games. Just look at this video.
