Not just typical darts, pool, poker, etc. you can find in a lot of games. I'm talking about mini-games that are unique to the game it's in, or unique in general. Bonus if it's a mini-game you spent a lot of time on. I found it cool how you can play Virtua Fighter 5 in Yakuza 6 and Judgement. However I spent more time in Yakuza 0's Pocket Circuit as frustrating it could be sometimes, at least when you get to the harder laps. Also the cabaret club dressing up my bitches. Gwent in Witcher 3 was quite enjoyable. I actually did invest some time into it going around the map looking for cards and playing against characters. Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure is another mini-game I loved. It was so relaxing.

Alternatively, are there any popular mini-games from games that you hated? For me it's Blitzball in FFX. It was just boring to me and I didn't even bother trying to get Wakka's celestial weapon from it.

Not sure if it counts, but Geometry Wars started as a minigame in Project Gotham Racing 2.

The original had a ton of minigames depending on the holiday. Guild Wars 2 does as well but that game is shit. Best minigame was roller-beetle racing, which was sort of like Mario Kart but had hills and slopes that affected your speed. They were always popular when they were around due to being seasonal, but I'd like to see them come back as their own game of some sort.

You sort of took my answer with Yakuza, but I did really like the games you could play in 4. You could play things like Mahjong, Hanafuda, and various gambling games. What I appreciated most is that this is really what experiencing other cultures should be. You introduce an aspect of culture and say, "this is what they do in Japan, isn't that neat?" They didn't try to appeal to the West and replace the games with poker or something.

System Shock 1 had a very basic Wing Commander clone with a whole campaign and parody storyline in it. Also, both SS games have a lot more games, though the majority is very basic, with Overworld Zero and Wing 0 being the standout "titles".

Final Fantasy VII had the casino games, FF VIII had Triple Triad.

Might and Magic VII had a whole card game ala Gwent called Arcomage, with different taverns having different decks and strategies.

Shenmue 1&2 are also obvious candidates since they're the prototypes for Yakuza, having previous arcade titles from the creator of the game.

Interestingly enough, Fallout 4 has a text-based RPG you can play on the Pipboy, and it's far superior to the main game, both in terms of mechanics and writing (thought that's obviously not saying much). There's also a few more simple titles within the game.

SMT DDS had a shump mini game, GTA SA had something and Saints Row 2 had a left 4 dead type mini game.

I remember Red Dead Redemption had Poker, Blackjack, and Liar's dice which you could make a lot of money from at high-stakes games, and have a lot of fun playing with other people in the multiplayer aspect. In the same vein some asscreed games have setting-appropriate games, also liar's dice in Asscreed 3 the one with the mestizo muh my land rednigger.

Digimon World 3 had this weird version of the card game in it, deck building and all. It was pretty fun.

That's what I really liked about Yakuza and Shen Mue. It's weird as hell, watching modern videos from Japan, like people going through shops, or through shopping centers and neighborhoods, and feeling a sense of nostalgia for a place you've never been to.

The term for this form of nostalgia or homesickness is "anemoia".

>never got Zelda

Was there a legit way to get it or was exploiting the hell out of villager "Link" of "Hyrule" town the only way?

Donkey Kong 64 if i recall has the original Donkey Kong and Panzer Dragoon has the original Saturn version of the first game. I think Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox has the NES or Arcade titles and Brawl and Sm4sh Wii U had those limited run emulation games that could apparently be played in full with a cheat code but it would usually crash the emulator although i recall rumors about how you could unlock it all by doing something It's been said in the OP but i like the arcade (and in Fist of the north stars case, Master System) minigames in Yakuza/Judgement/Lost Paradise since compared to arcade emulation they are mostly on point and decent to play.

We played Mario Party 3 mini-games, especially Aces High and Fowl Play, more than the actual boards. I think that was went wrong with Mario Party series, mini-games got weak and the boards wouldn't keep people much, not to mention the annoying gimmicks like the microphone.

I really miss the Chao Garden, I like how it was a sneaky way to getting you gud by redoing levels to get stuff for your Chao, but current Sonic Team cant do a damn thing well other than the music so I wouldn't hold my breath.

According to the wiki, there never was a legit way to get Zelda or Super Mario. You could get Mario Bros and Ice Climber legitimately if you had an e-Reader and were lucky enough to find their cards, though.

Castlevania: Dracula Chronicles X is a remake of Rondo of Blood for the PSP. Unlockables are scattered through out the levels including concept art, music and even games. These games are the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.

Great on it's own, but also being portable made this game well worth a purchase.

The pinball, shmup, and "RPG" expanded minigames were the only good part of Kirby Mass Attack. There were more, but those were the good ones. Mini apps were also the selling point of Mario Party Advance.
