Games:
The Polaris event is currently up. Good luck on your rolls and have fun with the rhythm game, but keep in mind that the Russian ship girls are likely going to be showing up very soon after the event ends. It's also a good time to join, as the event maps are good for farming xp, and they aren't too hard either. Having said that, the SP map is lvl 100, and the Extra map is lvl 120. The SP map isn't too hard if you have two fleets over 100. I was able to get past it with my KMS fleet, which is missing Bismark and Friedrich.
Crosswave is out now. What do you all think of it?
Anime:
The anime was delayed until next month. There are only two episodes left, so I'm hoping for at least an hour long episode to help wrap things up. The anime started well, but began to drag the story out in the middle. It doesn't help that huge chunks of the story were happening between episodes either. I honestly think the Enty and Starter Gang storyarcs needed more than 12 episodes.

As for the game. The Polaris event is really nice and I'm liking the Rhythm game. Easy mode is easy, but Hard mode is more satisfying imo. The song selection is really nice too. SP is doable if you have two fleets at 100+, and I'd wager it can be done with a single fleet of 120s. Also remember that manual mode is easier with the beaver badge, so level up the beaver squad.

Hopefully not. There are a number of ship girls that I had to leave behind, so I do know what it feels like. I wish you luck, anon. As for Yuudachi, I like her as well. I also managed to get her to drop. However, it seems like Yukikaze is stealing a lot of her thunder, which pushes her away from the spotlight. As for the retrofit, there are a lot of ship girls that I'd like to see get a retrofit. Personally, I'd love to see both Hipper and Prinz Eugen get one.

It seems the anime was heavily geared towards JP, so lolis as far as the eye can see was to be expected. Episode 11 is out for anyone interested. The pacing is looking good, and the artwork is looking steady. The next episode should wrap up things for the time being.
Also, there are a few mini-events going on; Return of the Solomon Ranger, Bejuuled, and Welcome Sofmap. SP3 gives 150 and 120 of each event currency, and 10k is required to unlock both outfits. That means 67 and 84 runs if you just do SP3 from scratch. If you're just starting now, you just need to run SP3 about 10 times a day on average. It's not hard.
We're also currently getting x3 core data, so make sure to do your hard maps if possible.

Writing for anime is always hit and miss. I think the story would have been better had it been more focused on a small number of battles, or had it stuck to slice of life like the various mangas. Like 8th MS Team vs MSG. Having said that, I think they did as well as one could expect for a first outing.
On another note, it looks like another big event is a month or so away. Prelude Event Under the Mist has me wondering if Baltimore will return. Since the prelude is Eagle Union focused, I've also read speculation that USS San Francisco (CA-38) might show up.

I honestly have no idea what the story is about. I thought there were 3 different storylines going on. The normal campaign, which reflects WW2 events. The event missions, which is the custom story with the sirens. And I guess there are more events that show that all the ships are together like it's a separate plot. I don't get it.

In general, the story is that the Sirens crushed humanity, and ship girls were made to stop them. Crimson Axis and Azur Lane split off and fought against each other.

My understanding is that they were somehow created, and that the ships are made of "cubes" that represent human willpower. In game, these cubes are used for summoning shipgirls in the gacha, who are either leveled up or used to strengthen the original or other shipgirls. I lock every shipgirl that I get, so the first one for me is the original. In the anime, the actual ships are made up of these cubes and form the shipgirl's rigging. The girls can switch between actual ship and rigging at their choosing. As long as the girl isn't killed, the rigging can be repaired.
Another way to look at it, is that the shipgirls are sentient Lantern Corp constructs. In order to strengthen them, the commander or PC needs more willpower.

Not at all. Of the gacha games, it has the fairest drops that I've seen. Resources are given fairly, and the devs really do care about the game and the players. There are plenty of map drops, with some girls being map drop only. Also, the shop drops are fairly priced, which makes many ship girls accessible without playing the gacha. The gameplay is mostly simple, but the challenge and later world maps require that you build good fleets with good equipment. Auto is great for grinding less challenging maps, but generally requires that your fleet can overpower the map. The artwork is great, and the game focuses on making sure it stays that way. The story has been largely nonsensical, but the devs are improving on it. The music has been great as well, and there is a lot of it.

The devs really do care about the game, the genre and the fanbase. The creators also grew up with 90s anime, and are heavily influenced by nip culture in general. The server has been shitting itself lately, but the devs have been busy getting it working again. They are also very generous with compensating players for lost time. The devs know that the majority of the fanbase is made up of hetero males, so the girls can be generally summed up as "waifus and cute girls doing cute things."

I was hesitant for this reason at first as well, but there's no pozz or socjus in AL. I don't have to worry about furries or trannies taking over, and steering the game in an unwanted direction. I've also yet to see them jew players, which is an issue with modern gaming in general. In the end, it really does feel like one of my old japanese animes.

I'd also like to add that the devs do have access to a naval historian and they do try to incorporate a ship's history into the design process. It's why we get girls acting a certain way, looking a certain way or saying specific things. A recent example is USS Intrepid, who helped the space program by recovering space capsules for Mercury and Gemini. She's also currently a ship museum, with a good emphasis on space travel and exploration.

It looks like they are. I compared two videos that I found on youtube, and the collection even has a pop-up page. I don't think there is a collection version for 2nd anniversary, so I'm guessing they might make one. As for the core data, it looks like only the white shell and oxy torpedo are largely considered essential. I've heard the snorkel is pretty nice for low oxy subs though.

It looks like the F4U is the best fighter in the game. The Fairy Firefly, Blackburn Firebrand, and Sea Fury are pretty good planes as well. I'm not sure about the Type 98 Delayed Firing Device.

There are some guides online, but I'm still not at Chapter 13 yet. I have heard that it's pretty damn hard, so max leveled ships will likely be a requirement. There are also new ship types in Chapter 13 that require special attention.

None that i am aware. It's hard to make a list because sometimes even the top tier gear isn't good for certain ships. It also depends on the ships' skills, barrage types, enemy types, etc..
The general advice to clear the endgame is to build two fleets with high EVA and AA, as well as high Air Control because the enemy aircrafts in ch.12 & 13 are going to rape your shipfus.

Since this site is running into a lot of issues, I would like to know if you guys have any plans in case this thread has to move soon.
An alternative some people are gravitating towards is Fatchan/v/. The BO has allowed gachashit on there under one condition, keep all of it in one general. That means that you'd have to share with Fate, Granblue, etc. It'll be a bit chaotic but I think posting is slow enough that it won't be such a big deal.
If you guys have any other suggestions (moving to Julay/v/,etc.) I'd be happy to hear it. I've asked the Fate thread the same already and I'll ask the granbluefags when more of them wake up.

I've been looking at fatchan v. However, I'm also pretty curious about what acidman comes up with. I'll likely keep an eye on both of them and decide based on the BO and where the population seems to be settling. As for the one general, I'm fine with that.
