Yeah, it is. His personality is still bland either way, and doesn't fit. I think part of the issue is that FGO's story is complete trash for most of the singularities, up until the last few, so they're starting off at the end. It's nonsense to start at part 7 with an anime series, then do part 6 as a movie, before even considering 1-5. It's like they're admitting everything before Camelot is trash that they don't want to acknowledge anymore. At the very least, they should have waited until after the Camelot movie to release the Babylonia anime.

That's not him either. Gudao doesn't personally contract all of them, they're formally contracted to Chaldea and he uses them through that medium. It's why there was originally a whole slew of Masters who would all rent Servants like Pokemon. This is also why Mash has to "set up a summoning circle" for all the initial singularities though this plot point was dropped early.

All this talking about Gudao reminds me that the anime is breaking Grand Orders in story canon for how he fights. Both Shinjuku and Simosa specifically point out that the way Gudao fights is exactly how the gameplay looks. He just throws servants at the problem until it goes away. Granted, I understand why the animators wouldn't show this because it would be pants on head retarded to consider a guy who can literally throw numerous servants at a problem seriously having any problems, but just in case you forgot.

Technically it's not throwing Servants - as described in EoR III, what's actually being done is manifesting part of a Servant from Chaldea. Actual proper summoning results in a permanent, higher-class summon - for example, in EoR III, Fuuma is an actual Servant with a class container, while any of the other summons are impermanent and will get mowed down. Or rather, in practice, no matter how many of these shadow servant like summons are made, they aren't going to compare to the real thing, and a true high-class Servant like Altera or grail-boosted Cu Alter can brute force through the entire thing - after all, even non-Servant Musashi is still a better fighter than all of your summons. This also isn't available in all Singularities - in Salem, for example, the only Servants that appear are the permanent-summoned group; in Agartha, I don't believe anyone is brought in at all.

Basically, it's like projection - rather than call an A-Rank Servant, you call out a B-Rank Servant for a few seconds, who quickly collapses when tossed up against the real thing. For a direct example out of TM material, think about the massive horde of living curses broken off from Angra Mainyu in Hollow Ataraxia - each of them is strong enough to slaughter even a trained human, and their numbers in the 1000s are enough to threaten Servants, but even a weak Servant like Caster can effortlessly slaughter hundreds of them in a single blast, Sakura's imaginary around or Rin's gem magecraft can slaughter them, and high-class Servants like Saber, Berserker, or Gilgamesh are effectively invincible against any number of them. The Chaldea shadow servants are likely just a tad higher-spec than those, considering that the base model of the shadows was the absolute weakest Servant of them all, but that's the difference of 2 vs. 10 rather than 2 vs. 200.

It is pretty dumb that they've dropped it from the animes, though. But there's a lot of dumb things involved with F/GO. Maybe Studio BB will lead to better stuff. Like a new Melty Blood or Unlimited Codes.

The lore stats have little-to-no bearing on gameplay. The case-in-point for that is that Jack the Ripper is a 5* Servant while Herakles is a 4* Servant. Saber Alter is a lower rank than basic Saber? Some people say it should be reversed, but technically they should be equal; Alter is stronger in F/SN because she has unlimited backup from the Grail. Even within gameplay - Excalibur does piss-poor damage? King Hassan and the Shiki's don't instagib every enemy they hit? Skills and NPs are randomly dropped or not used in the Mats? The list of shit in that department could go on, but the answer ultimately boils down to "golden rule (true)" and "balance (false)".

Now, as far a consistency out of gameplay, and just in terms of the mats and story - there aren't really a lot of particularly egregious errors. There are fuck-ups from time to time, but it's more in the gag events than the main story. Maybe some shit in Septem or whatever, but it's better to pretend that Septem doesn't fucking exist. The joke Servants are about 50/50. But realistically, in terms of story, things do matter - for example, the ridiculous staBotspeak Asterios has allows him to go head-to-head with Herk in Okeanos (being fucked only by the fact, as established in F/SN, that Herk is much weaker as a Servant, and can tap into his "real" strength to manage shit like breaking Enkidu or protecting lolis), and he becomes a monster worthy of Beowulf as Minotauros.

The real problems, as far as I see, are more in the unseen aspects. There is so much autistic "balance" going into F/SN's servant set-up that it's fascinating - the best example is Gilgamesh, a character build using a useless Noble Phantasm (draw out noble phantasms and equipment based on your wealth) and a useless Personal Skills (have lots of wealth) that together are a broken combo. Or the fact that Divinity was a big deal, and was linked to higher parameters - hence why Saber needed Mana Burst to compete with Lancer, Gil, or Herk in a fight, but is weaker than Rin until she triggers it. On the other hand, F/GO has lots of Servants whose stats play with the written rules, but don't play with the unwritten rules - for example, D'Eon having A-Rank Strength for no good reason, despite being a relatively modern Servant with no Divinity.

That all said, at the end of the day, "who the writer wants to win" is still the rule of the day - though I think the word "compatibility" is the key factor. Gilgamesh is a top-tier monster, but he still loses to Shirou while wearing a biker jacket.

I was more saying that I believe completely that it wasn't planned to be that way until too late in the game to give any reasonable time to foreshadow it is all. Yes, it makes sense, but had they actually planned to do it from the start they would have Orion talk himself down, and had they actually planned to do it from the start of the Lost Belts specifically they had plenty of time to somewhere, somehow throw just a line in there. Not that they had to, but if you have the character sitting there anyway it seems very weird to suddenly say they were actually so super fucking powerful that a God hijacking not only made them weaker, but made them SUBSTANTIALLY weaker. Again, if you connect the dots its completely fine, but I feel it plays into my absolutely baseless except for strict gut instinct theory that splitting the lost belt into two parts was a late decision and they had to pad it out and change things to get it to work. In other words, story-wise I think it would have served them better to at least wink about it once or twice, that's all I was complaining about with that. It's by far the least of my problems I had, which were more "they built up a ton of shit, and yet the handful of resolutions we were given were completely unsatisfying." which itself comes from the lack of things you actually get to fucking fight because cutscenes take care of almost all the problems.

As for impact in gameplay, well, sadly a 3 skill and 1 np system is as limiting as it sounds and rarities mean people would be pissed if a 1* outshined their 5* (although some do anyway). I agree that splitting was probably a last minute thing - I think they got ahead of themselves with trying to make LB5 seem as climactic as possible (even though Kirsch's been designated to job ever since he got the LB5 label), wrote too much, and didn't finish enough of their sprites and crap on time.

But I do think that Orion being much stronger than as shown with Artemis has been planned since his first appearance, and that him being Grand Archer has been in the works since early development of Part 2 at the latest (seeing as he's featured in one of the early trailers in silhouette).

As far as the hijacking, something I think that needs to be considered with Artemis:

Artemis doesn't have the Goddess Core skill while hijacking Orion. Nor does she have any of her Authorities. Considering that these two traits are what makes a divine spirit as powerful as they are, it's more like she's discarded all of her powers, and started badly controlling Orion's skill-set. So while it does seem counter-intuitive, there is a reason for it.

Letting you select from skills to "equip" onto a Servant (after unlocking them at the cost of absurd amounts of materials and QP, no doubt) would be pretty cool. Or even letting you swap between Noble Phantasms, in some cases - for instance, letting Cu swap over to Gae Bolg (Thrown) for an AoE Buster would be pretty cool. The only problem, really, is that it would hose some Servants more than others - there's a lot more missing from poor George than there is from Cursed Arm, for instance.

Of course, there are certain mysteries of implementation. God Hand is the best example of an NP that's impossible to implement in a way that isn't either completely broken, or incredibly disappointing. The same goes for Avalon, which could only avoid being disappointing if it did some incredible bullshit like "negate all attacks, including those with pierce invulnerability, for 3 turns, and sucks your benis" or something like that.

And Gilgamesh in the real-world legend is just a really strong king who fought a bull (not a colossal magic golden bull, just a bull) and killed a giant or two, and brought a buddy for both of those things. Diarmuid was killed by a pig, not a 30ft demon boar. Orion was a hunter who threatened to eradicate all animals on the planet. Now stick that in the Nasuverse where said 30ft demon boars were quite prevalent, and add in the standard Nasu legend multiplier, and it's not especially surprising to get that result.

That's not entirely accurate. It has to do with territory. The Grail in Fuyuki was set up in a manner to focus on European servants, because it would be neutral territory. On the other hand, a famous Chinese hero would receive massive fame boosts. It's the same way that Cu Chulainn would be the #1 Servant is summoned in Ireland, King Arthur would be impossible to defeat in Britain, and Vlad III is a monster able to compete with Karna in Romania. The reason that the Einzberns, Tohasakas, and others went to such extends to secure things like the catalyst for Arthur, Herakles, or Gilgamesh, is because those are all Servants with such exceptional fame/mystery that, even in a foreign country like Japan, they still receive massive boosts.

The thing is, Fate/Grand Order is a different scenario. Servants aren't being called to search for the Holy Grail; they're being called to fulfill their role as protectors of humanity. SHEBA is a lot more open-ended than the Fuyuki Grail, which couldn't even summon anti-heroes like Medea or Medusa until it was corrupted by Angra Mainyu, and can call upon East Asian servants who were barred from the Einzbern system.

Muramasa is the best swordsmith. Hephaestus can still forge a better suit of armor, or make a robot, or do other bullshit craftsmanship stuff, but Muramasa is the best smith. Furthermore, there are restrictions - as Shimousa shows, Muramasa might be capable of forging a Divine Construct, but the strain of doing so is too much for a human to bear. Similarly, there's a matter of raw materials - in life as a human, Muramasa could forge Demonic Swords, but he could never forge a Divine Construct in any case because he lacked the raw materials. The only reason he can pull it off in Shimousa is as a Pseduo-Servant using Emiya Shirou as a base, which lets him make use of the entire Unlimited Blade Works as resource material.

I believe it was stated in a Nasu interview, the actual reason is because Nasu wanted to use western heroes for his original story, and the holy grail being a western conceptual item helped facilitate that. The Church had nothing to do with constructing the Grail, Anon. The restrictions were set up by the Three Families. It's understandable in another way - the Einzberns were Germanic, the Makiri were Slavic, and the Tohsakas, though Japanese, were Japanese Christians instructed in western Magecraft. The Einzberns were never planning to play fair from the beginning, so obviously they would design a ritual that cock-blocked the Tohsaka's from being able to take advantage of their better understanding of Eastern folklore but which would let them do the opposite, all while calling it "fairness".

Because Vlad is a western servant. The Einzbern Grail doesn't "not summon Servants based on the zone", it "summons only western Servants". The only exception is Assassin (False), but his is an exceptional case - the Einzberns left a lot of backdoors and loopholes in the software that only they could figure out (and attempted to abuse to call upon Avenger or Ruler in the Third War), and while no other human could piece it together, Caster (as, while a weak Heroic Spirit, an exceptionally powerful Magus from the Age of Gods) did quickly figure out how to fuck with things, and managed to break the rules in order to (1) set herself as a user and (2) summon a Servant. Though technically, Assassin is a wraith and not a ghost liner, so rather than using the Greater Grail to call a heroic spirit into a class container, it's more than Caster forced the Grail into lending her an empty Assassin class container, and then shoved a wraith into it as well as bunch of other shit.

I accidentally a word before, but since it was just repetition anyways: the best swordsmith is not the same as the best smith overall. Being a god does not automatically make you a better craftsman. Greek mythology itself is an example - while there are regional variations, Arachne's legend makes a solid point of Arachne being a better weaver than Athena. Hephaestus being a god means he is an excellent craftsman, but that does not automatically mean that it is impossible for a human to forge something better than himself.

And as for the divine construct - read the story. Muramasa, in the Nasuverse, had the ability to forge a divine construct, but he didn't have the materials or the physical constitution to do so. He can only pull it off as a pseudo-Servant using Emiya Shirou's body as the base, and he can only do so at the cost of his spirit origin. That's incredibly consistent, both with the restrictions laid out in Greek mythology, and with those laid out in the lore of the setting itself. As a side note, if EMIYA can project Excalibur using Unlimited Blade Works - keeping in mind that he is a "blacksmith heroic spirit" who "forged" the replica weapons in his Reality Marble - then Muramasa using Shirou's body as a template not being able to do so would be even stranger.

Only Ophelia and Hinako from the Crypters have died. Ophelia pretty much switched sides at the last minute and sudoku'd herself to buff you enough to kill Surtr in LB2, and Hinako merged with the LB3 Tree because she was so fucking angry at humanity constantly taking everything she loved or something amongst those lines. Kadoc got retrieved by KotoRasputin at the beginning of LB2, Peperoncino got bailed out by Koyanskaya and Kirschtaria wiped the floor with (You)r ass hard when you got to him. No fights with Beryl and Daybit yet, but their LBs are supposedly very fucked up, and it seems like Daybit's servant is a Grand

Olympus will be very interesting, can't wait to see what'll happen since a Beast is foreshadowed to appear at Olympus, and there's no Grand anymore to fight it. I also get the hard feeling that Beryl will backstab Kirsch somehow

The same way it has been for the last 450 years it worked? The timeline only persists until the current day because it worked until the current day. Granted, the pruning phenomenon agrees with you, that they are less likely to survive. His goal involved wiping the entirety of (main branch) human history to ascend to god hood. Their goal is to prune the entirety of several human histories in order to… I don't actually know what they think will happen once they do prune these histories. Chaldea should have been defrosted by killing Anastasia if I'm not mistaken, I don't actually know why we're not going back immediately. Is it impossible to repair with current resources? That won't change with time, the world got glassed over everywhere. Keep moving forward on a planet that got glassed over? Gudao is gimped because Nasu doesn't want him to be a proactive mc like Shiro was. Gudao had years with resources normal magi would kill for like the having age of god mages as teachers or using the signalarities to get mats to make better mystic codes for examples, if Nasu wanted Gudao to grow he would have by now. I know that Gudao is supposed to be the average guy but after 2 years even an average guy would have had something by now given how dire the situations are. This is why lostbelt's story falls on it's face due to both Gudao's stagnation and lack of a personality. It was a good idea on paper if this was a real vn and not a gimped mobage one, at this point I am starting to think that Nasu should go along with his plan to leave fgo after part 2 the mobage format play it way to safe in terms of what you can do with the story/characters.

Yes, actually. The Ortenaus costume's first skill had it's values doubled and an Ignore Defense buff added to it. Mash can actually Buster Crit pretty hard now. You actually get the buff around when Black Barrel appears in the story, shortly after the fight with Demeter. It's used three times, each one to kill an Olympian. Demeter, Aphrodite, and finally Z-Man himself.

Fatchan /v/ has been chosen for some other generals but the BO over there has stated that all gachashit is limited to a single general (which has not been made yet). This should be manageable for Granblue, AL,etc. but this thread is in a different position due to the added Nasuverse discussion.

We could split FGO and Nasuverse talk between threads/boards, we could try tossing everything in a single thread and see what happens or there may be a site where the current set-up is allowed. Whatever it may be, I want to know your opinions and/or suggestions on this situation before I or someone else makes a general over there.
