>Black Sigil
Kind of interesting "Everybody Hates Kairu" premise at the start that flips the classic idea of the protagonist being one of the few people to be able to use magic, but the encounter rate is completely fucking abysmal, and from what I've heard from other anons that managed to suffer through it to the end, there isn't a payoff to doing so. I have zero fucking clue how there's demand enough for the game that it's reached like $80 for a complete copy these days. Also a case of western devs (a fucking leaf team, in particular) trying to make a throwback to classic era JRPGs, of which I'd say competing title Nostalgia did a better job at.
>Sands of Destruction
Interesting setting, but while the combat starts as a neat sort of "build your own combo" ordeal and utilizes both screens, it makes combat get pretty long as the game progresses, especially if you can't keep morale up to get those extra actions. Some enemies will just spam attacks that induce demoralization. Also suffers from mood whiplash because while Kato (Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Baten Kaitos) wanted to write a dark, bleak world, Sega told him to cut that shit out partway through, so every time it seems to edge into something actually dark it gets reined back in to be more family friendly. Still rather neat if you can sit through it (Kyrie's particular response to having no control of his life is worth witnessing; I was not expecting him to handle it the way he did), but not exactly one I see myself replaying. Game has an undub patch if that's of interest, though personally I didn't find the dub especially bad (at least for the player's party), and was surprised at how much voicing it actually had for a DS game. Should also note that while it got an anime under the game's original name of World Destruction, it is not an adaptation, and more a re-purposing of premise and characterization so don't think watching it is another way to experience the game.
>Summon Night: Twin Age
Note that it is NOT Swordcraft Story, so don't be expecting that sort of deal from it. Game's its own standalone spinoff of Summon Night.
Probably not "hidden" or anything at this point, but you should consider Radiant Historia and Strange Journey. And I do mean the originals, not the 3DS remakes. Also not an RPG, but thirding >>16636018 if you haven't played it and like adventure games.
