Backtracking from night/day and upgrades, probably. The game is really slow and trial and error to find what you can and can’t do until you unlock most of everything, so it’s actually quite linear for the first half, and unless you accept that and do what the game’s hint system tells you to, it can be frustrating. I like it more than WL2 once levels start opening up, and the level codependency was really cool with Forest of Fear and Warped Void being like one big level stapled together, but it takes time to get to that point. ||also, fuck unmarked throw blocks like in Castle of Illusion. No way to learn those exist except by guesswork||

Better level design once you get to it, worse level design until you get past it.

There's no gap, Waluigi is specifically a Mario character, not a Wario character. There's a reason why he never appears in anything Wario related and only shows up in Mario games. There's a certain anon that are butthurt about it that appear in every Wario thread recently. It's just Wario Land 2 with active progression of power-ups instead of having it all from the beginning, like a Metroid game. It along with WL2 are generally considered the best ones.

It isn't, but it depends on the game and your personal experience with said game. Watching him struggle with REmake 2 was delicious because I had just beaten it, especially because he starts on Hardcore and ragequits due to incredibly poor resource management and play, then restarts with a guide.
