How do people put up with this? I played Chivalry once and was immediately put off by typical unreal engine input lag but also mostly the total disconnect between view models and world models meaning the combat is weightless, transparent, and totally disconnected from the world. It's total trash. Someone explain to me how this is meant to be enjoyed when the animations are about indicative of what is actually happening in the game as if you had a big green loading bar showing you the progress of your animation and the frames where your hurtbox is active.
Like go play FEAR, punch and kick a few replica, and tell me with a straight face that this trash has a fifth the weight and satisfaction as FEAR does. Get some taste god I hope youre a shill.

Chivalry was shittily programmed, to the point where you can spin around while swinging to hit more targets, or manipulate swing angle to hit one target multiple times with the same swing. I haven't played Mordhau but their whole selling point is basically fixing that, so that is what I am hoping for. Other than that the "Battlefield but medieval style" format of the game appeals to me greatly and hasn't even been replicated except in M&B and War of the Roses, both of which come with their own substantial portions of janky combat.

If the developers want realism I'm sure they can add a Joan of Arc mode. They can even have it where everything is much more difficult due to being weaker than a man. Even though for a game to be good the focus should be on gameplay and player skill. If they were smart, they'd give the women a small hit box at the expense of less damage and vice versa for men.

It's still "press X to parry", isn't it? Armor/weapons are accessories with some stats. I've seen a gameplay video a while ago where slashing attacks with a sword or a dagger somehow deal damage and send blood flying while hitting armour or how an enemy "parried" an attack in the middle of his own attack animation, or how an axe hits the neck and deals no damage because opponent had "lol I'm parrying" invulnerability… with a dagger. Like, what's even the point? Might as well fight naked and press X to parry just in time.

Actually, parrying too much will just fling whatever weapon you're using out of your hand upon low stamina.
And i'm pretty sure though not 100% certain so correct me if i'm wrong that parrying smaller weapons with big weapons won't take as much stamina, same idea for smaller weapons except other way around, where parrying would take more stamina.
The only infallible method of defense that takes no stamina at all is the "chambering" mechanic, but it's alot more risky and tricky to pull off.

Have you played? Why would you make an assertion about something you clearly have never experienced? Even parrying is directional in the sense that you have to aim you camera in the direction the attack is coming from. This allows for flanks, backstabs, attacking the legs and feet if the defender is parrying too high, etc. It is nothing like rolling in Dark Souls, nothing in the game gives you full body i-frames.
Please refrain from making statements about game mechanics after having merely watched a video. You might also think about refraining from posting altogether.

Alright, I'll get the screenshots out. All three of these screenshots capture the exact moment of a parry. On first, the player isn't facing the opponent, he doesn't even have his weapon anywhere near. On second, "parry" happens as the enemy is preparing to stab the player and his guardian angel parries the attack for him. On third, the axe lands sqaurely on the neck, but opponent has invulnerability frames.

All three of those are from the first 2 minutes of the video, there's also a point in the same time frame where a guy wearing a hat survives a blow to the head with a mace and a guy dying from cuts on his metal armour.
