My favorite champion is dubs

I ask again, what's wrong with League of Legends from a gameplay standpoint?

What a timing, I just played a handful of games again since whenever.

And the problem if these games is that you are doing boring, menial tasks for 70% of a game, only to try to get a rush of dopamine if something goes well in the other 30%, so you are kind of like a game junkie, anticipating the next high coming your way.

I think that's why it becomes highly adictive.

It's an easy explanation, really.

A game in average takes 45 minutes. Of those, the first 20 will be the laning phase, then you get 5 of team fights and then 20 of mop up.

The laning phase is crucial since it's what powers the next phase, but it's all down to rote and memorization, with a well developed formula that you basically just repeat every game if you don't want to lose the game. It's an incredibly simple, boring and artificial phase of the game that's simply not fun.

Then comes the team fight phase, where all that farming is put to the test in fights that can happen anywhere on the map. If you did better than your oposing team, you'll start with quite an advantage. Team coordination and proper champion use still matters a lot since the advantage you have isn't that great and towers can help mitigate it too.

This phase will further feed down the winning team, increasing their advantage over the losing team with gold from kills or towers being taken out. It ends once the winning team has a solid position to snowball the oposing team.

Next comes the mop up phase, where the victor is already decided, reversals are quite rare but it's still going to take 20 minutes because minions, towers and everything else will slow it all down to give the other team an oportunity to get the upper hand, something that will only happen if the winning team makes several mistakes.

The issue with the whole genre is that the first 20 minutes are formulaic no-fun meta gameplay that's really not interesting at all. Then you have 5 minutes of actually interesting gameplay and what the game is always sold as being all about, but they only last 5 minutes because that's all it takes to gain a massive advantage.

But despite the victor being decided by those 5 minutes, you're still gonna have to slog through 20 minutes of roflstomping because the gameplay doesn't just allow you to end it there unless the other team concedes.

If it sounds like "well, at least you have those 5 minutes", consider that how well you do in them is heavily influenced by how well you do in the previous boring 20.

TL;DR: only 1/9 of the time you're playing can be considered fun and interesting and it heavily depends on putting up with 4/9 of boring repetitive gameplay first.

It's the issue with all MOBAs, where everyone talks as if teamfights were the entire 45 minutes, but they really aren't. The focus is always on farming to snowball, not brawling with your heroes. HotS kinda sidesteps most of this with a global level and many secondary objectives to affect the match that change with the map, but it still suffers from dead man walking syndrome.

There was a MOBA of sorts on Steam that had no gold or leveling, just straight up fighting, and it was quite cool, but obviously never got anywhere.

Actually it was some other game that I can't find on Steam anymore but apparently was released for the PS4 version now, called Trans-Galactic Tournament.

Dunno why the change in platform, but it was a decent game for a MOBA. No farming or leveling, just fights and contesting objectives.

Smite can also be quite fun. Certainly better than League at least, considering the change in control schemes, that minions are more than just punching bags for the early game and the many changes they have in the gameplay (earning gold for being near targets when they die, not just for last hitting).

I'm not generalizing, I'm describing the meta everyone goes by. Of course there's always a jungler so the top lane levels up faster, your team soaks XP and buffs from the jungle and a few ganks on mid or top mostly will help further increase the advantage you're farming for during laning phase.

You can complain that I'm omitting all the little details that go over this phase, at which point we can go down to last hitting, mana conservation, etc.

But in the end it doesn't change the fundamental problem with it. It's a boring, formulaic phase that will always play out in the same way if you don't want to sabotage the next 25 minutes and the entire match. It's simply not fun and useless for the game.

It's more like everyone actually does follow the meta, with a few funny guys getting creative, something that simply doesn't happen as often as you make it out to be.

I was one of the few that refused to take Flash with me, I was friends with a guy that always irritated everyone on the oposing team because he was "playing a champion wrong" since he was quite unorthodox with them and enjoyed success because of said unpredictability.

But all of this is a rarity that doesn't happen very often and for very good reason. The meta doesn't evolve simply because of dogma, it's a strategy that's tried and proven to win the great majority of games because it beats almost everything else, with the 1 top, 1 mid, 1 ADC + 1 Support Bot and 1 Jungler being the most effective strategy out there. You can shift this around a bit for fun, but odds are the only reason whatever you try ends up working out is because the other team is worse and the surprise element nets you a substancial advantage. However, if you go counting with that for every game, you're gonna end up losing most of them.

Basically, the higher you go up in the ladder, the more you're required to follow the meta because you'll be more heavily punished for getting creative.

Being a support main is fucking suffering, man. You get to watch someone fuck up repeatedly and then blame everyone else for it.

It's dreadfull to see niggas afraid of going in because they don't want to risk their K/D score, staying back while the other guys advance and then complaining when they are left alone to fight because every teammenber is dead.

It's just faggots that can't actually play the game, all they can do is exploit mistakes and they spend the whole game waiting for the opponent to make one. Never mind that at high levels this shit doesn't happen and you gotta learn how to force your opponent to make mistakes, but they never do that because it's too risky.

At one point I shifted to Tanks simply because I decided to be the guy that goes in and gets the party started if no one else does that. Works a lot of the time, except if you're playing with "friends" that don't trust you one bit and stay back instead. And then they die alone, of course.

Now, now. Let's not be niggers. That's the normal result of a good matchmaking system UNLESS you're an outlier. If you have more or less than 50%, you are going to be moving in position until you're against equally skilled players, at which point it will normalize at 50%. Only if you're near the top or near the bottom where the game can't actually get anyone with equal skill rating to get a game going will you see a different winrate than 50% with consistency.

I'm sure they can include scummy shit to prop up their whales, but that's not the fault of matchmaking itself.

They can kinda do it, actually. Mordekaiser's ultimate spawns a pet ghost if he kills the target with it and he can then re-direct said pet by taping the cast key again. Malzahar's pet will target whoever is under the effect of his third ability too. There's also a few heroes that can control pets in similar ways. They aren't treated like another unit since you can't de-select your hero, but that's more an artifact that Dota carried from Warcraft which was an RTS, than an actual design decision.

If I ever feel like playing an ASSFAGGOTS, I gotvto Dota 2. LoL just reeks of mainstream Tencent garbage. Dota 2 always felt more down to earth, if that makes sense.
