I lurk much more than I post. Trying to get into Bloodborne. It's the one game out of this shit series of shit games that I just can't get into. DaS2 fixed awkward jumping and the Bloodborne brought it back. Enemy attacks still track the player even after the windup, giving me PTSD flashbacks of The Mirror Knight. For a game so focused on aggressive attacks and fast dodging, it sure loves having me clip through the environment and getting stuck inside of miscellaneous objects like branches and gravestones.The Witch of Hemwick is not fucking "different" or "creative", it's fucking boring tedium made manifest. Lock-on gets you killed much more often than it helps you. I don't like how many areas just end in dead-end areas instead of connecting together with other areas like in DaS. It makes figuring out where the fuck you're supposed to go next a chore. Usually, reading item descriptions helps me figure it out, but Miyazaki turned up the Cryptic factor of the game to 11 and I end up more confused than I was before reading them. And again, because the locations are so disjointed, I find myself in areas with huge difficulty spikes instead of where I'm really supposed to be.
Don't want to make it seem like I'm sucking DaS's dick though.

Its because of when DeS came out; right time, right place. DaS rode that train higher. In any case, FROM is well known for cheating bosses, enemies and weirdly incompetent AI. The reason for the enemies clipping is because the AI is too retarded to figure out that its attack will bounce, so instead of trying to fix that and give at least some enemies an attack specifically to fuck with players that use the level terrain, they just made their attacks go through. They absolutely would have done that too; they do that with a bunch of shit you can use as exploits and its half the reason the enemies spin like a fucking top. Bloodborne is also odd because the whole labyrinth thing was a giant fucking mess. If you are good at it, you will drown in blood echoes but the bosses don't quite fit the rest of the game.
NiOh does the fast paced combat a lot better, but it brings a whole new slew of issues. Enemies work on either the same system, or something like it, and the game is transparent about it. However, it is also a giant grind, the sheer lack of enemy variety means you start to are going to see a lot of your most hated normal enemies, and it has an isometric ARPG's loot system. Enjoy farming bosses for that one drop you want. Bosses are also not one shot deals, even the early bosses that end up as rare regular enemies will show up again. So even they can wear out their welcome.

The problem is not smash, but rather fighting games trying to get the smash audience. Problem 1 is that smash is just a different game. In terms of spacing, blocking, dodging, and the map itself. Idiots would believe that if you make moves easier to use, then smash players will want to join in. It never works, as either the player wants it to be more like a traditional fighting game, the smash player is a casual who can't even comprehend high vs low hits, or only cares for the characters that are in smash. Smash having a smaller and simpler move set works as you have to take into account 8 directions, what stage you are on, and the different health system. Problem 2 is that fighting games usually do need "complex" inputs. Fighting games only really have 4 spots to work with when it comes to moves, which are 2, 3, 5, and 6. Putting them on 1 or 4 without being annoying to input is hard. When to move towards them you need to input 6, going from that to a 1 input doesn't flow well. 7, 8, and 9 won't work as those are jump commands. So adding multinumber inputs allow for more move options. Secondly, mapping a powerful move to a directional input would make regular moves and other characters less appealing to use. Why would I play yuri when I can play mature and get the objectively better projectile if they are both mapped to a foward input? There are more reasons, but I need to get back to what I am doing.

Not really, Bad Angler was a big project for me and I learned a lot from it, I was originally a C++ dev and went for it to learn about all that SanFran Node crap. I dabbled with doing a GG Monitor, like monitoring the thread for post velocity, sudden hikes of IDs signaling maybe a flood/raid and identifying the biggest contributors. I wanted to auto archive it at different interval. I also tried to pull the markdown files directly from the repo and do a simple site with it back when it was maintained.
