besides the first trilogy, is there any spyro game worth it? enter the dragonfly seems pretty similar to the original games, never tried it, though.

is it any good?

The Insomniac studios that made Spyro is dead, just as the Naughty Dog that made Crash is dead.

Now with that out of the way, I played some GBA spyro games and even the GBA spyro/crash crossover games and they were pretty decent for the hardware limitations they worked with.

03d85f  No.15799011

enter the dragonfly is horrendous and is irredeemably buggy. I don't know if any of the post-insomniac games are any good.

29958b  No.15799022

Specifically, I played the Spyro GBA trilogy made by Digital Eclipse, which I'd give a 3/5. I can't speak for the other guys.

Enter the Dragonfly was horribly rushed and buggy as fuck. Hero's Tail was more competent and has a surprisingly good OST despite not being made by Copeland, but is more than a bit different. Still have a bit of a soft spot for it. All I can really speak on though.

Buggy and A Hero Tail is a bit better. The legends serie are just awful God of War rip-off.

The skylanders games are just paywalled games, don't try them.

04dae8  No.15799097

we already have a spyro thread, you could have asked there.

anyway, Hero's tail is pretty good, its the insomniac analogue to Twinsanity. so its like, different, but good.

Enter the Dragonfly is the analogue to crash 4, which is overall agreed to be garbage.

I have very vague memories of it from my youth, but I can still remember clipping through the geometry, lighting spazzing out, the framerate dropping to a crawl and certain effects not displaying. It wasn't a good game.

>>15799431

>>15799448

It's so buggy, you can immediately take on the final boss clipping through the closed door to him. The gates that are supposed to lock off sections of the hub world can be phased through just by rubbing Spyro's face hard enough on them.

No, that's the price of inflation. Prices of almost every food item have tripled in price since I was a kid 20 years ago. The only thing still inexpensive is fast-food dollar menus; and since the cost of the ingredients THEY buy are the same that you buy, you have to wonder how many corners they're cutting to make shit that cheap.

He's talking about Jinzo, you doofus. Anon played Card Destruction to keep Exodia from being played. Anon B played activated Solemn Judgement to negate Card Destruction. Anon C then posted Jinzo. Anon D activated Solemn Warning, which negates summons. However, Anon C claimed Jinzo was already on the field for a time, and wasn't being summoned at the time of posting it, so Solemn Warning didn't apply. Learn to follow a thread.

>The Insomniac studios that made Spyro is dead, just as the Naughty Dog that made Crash is dead.

This.

Brands are meaningless. Let go of whatever attachments you had for those studios/companies. The individual, talented and skilled people working in a project are what makes a good product.

What we have now are simply soulless corporate suits designing low quality products for brain dead masses to consume.

Never fall for the brand name. Currently, it is just an empty shell.

Hero's tail was the only one I keep coming back to outside of the main three games. Looks gorgeous especially on dolphin and is enjoyable to play but unlike the originals each map is far more open for the player to do whatever they like rather than entering portals to new worlds. Downside would be that the gameplay is a bit more sluggish compared to the very responsive & fast-paced spyro you'd be used to if you only played the ps1 games.

You can still buy some shit relatively cheap, a pound of chicken breast only cost about 3 buckaroos, I actually ended up saving a shitton of money by cooking my own meals again. I always ate healthy, but I would buy ready made ingredients as opposed to cooking it myself for the past year or so (microwavable rice, cooked meat from the deli, etc)

The only real thing I've noticed shooting up were eggs, oddly enough, nearly 4 bucks for large ones, and it's insane, sometimes they're dirt cheap, other times they're expensive. Tomatoes too, holy shit.

Since you probably know how (most) chickens are raised, there's no surprise that it's so cheap compared to other sources of protein.

But really, you tend to lower your costs the closer you get to making stuff from scratch. Making your own pasta sauce from meat and vegetables: $3; buying a jar of pasta sauce: $5; buying frozen pasta with sauce: $8; buying a dish of restaurant pasta with sauce: $10. I can't even IMAGINE how much my roommate spends on food since almost every meal he eats is takeout (he's also probably going to die at age 65).

What I've really noticed is the price of grains, especially boxed stuff. Even just ten years ago, you could find a box of rice-a-roni or hamburger helper for $1 anytime, and now even on sale they're never less than $1.50, and the boxes are smaller, too. Chips made with grains have also gone up, and nuts of any kind? FUCK! You can't get a goddamn jar of decent peanuts or a tiny jar of cashews without dropping a Hamilton.

It's a holiday tradition that I make Chex Mix for my entire family (far better than anything you can buy) and it just keeps getting more expensive, mostly because of the fucking mixed nuts, but the cereal is more too. Spent like $200 making it last year. Kills me.

Pic barely related.

Yeah, PAL's 50hz was often not as it should have been, missing frames and identical timing but slowing down the game to get the full number of frames in the same window of time. It's not 12% less data, it's 12% slower which I'm sure you can see and hear for yourself

Enter the Dragonfly is the closest you'll get to the gameplay of the original trilogy. Unfortunately, it's more unfinished than Sonic '06. It's a huge mess, as your picture indicates. That said, I would play it over any of the ones after it. I mean, I beat it when I was a kid. The graphics are shit and it's too short, but it's not like the glitches are so bad they inhibit you from beating the game. It's just not that good.

The GBA games are actually pretty good as far as translating Spyro to a GBA. The isometric views work fairly well and everything. If you're itching for more Spyro, these are actually decent. They're the only non-Insomniac ones that would ever come close to even "decent" but that's considering that they're scaled down for GBA. Note, I just mean the three main ones, not Spyro Orange, which is completely different and also shit.

A Hero's Tail is the next and last PS2 game and is more functional than Enter the Dragonfly, but fucks up simple but core things, like gems respawn so you can use them on consumable items, which defeats the entire collection aspect. Square is Flame and Circle is Charge, showing just how little they gave a fuck about the original games, that they couldn't even be bothered to map the controls properly. While Enter the Dragonfly was bad on a technical level but fine on a conceptual level, A Hero's Tail is fine technically but bad conceptually. Basically, this is where they lost sight of what the series originally was. This trend would continue.

The last game in the original series is Shadow Legacy, on DS, but despite being the same universe, it's still completely different gameplay. It's not like the GBA games that tried to mimic the PS1 gameplay. After this, the series would completely reboot and just go for fully different gameplay, story, and tone (which Shadow Legacy already seemed to want to do, except for story). It's so disconnected that I would just consider it its own thing. Maybe if you try not to think of them as Spyro you can enjoy them. I couldn't.

Fuck Skylanders.

>>15799097

Twinsanity still fundamentally played like Crash, just with the levels being connected and not using (many) warps. Also, Wrath of Cortex has shit load times and the graphics are bad like in Enter the Dragonfly, but it's not as buggy and unfinished. Wrath of Cortex is functional.
