So what the hell happened to this? Wasn't it supposed to be Left 4 Dead in space but it was shit?

a06629 (2)  No.15694491>>15694523 >>15694952 >>15699517

It's decent but the launch was botched due to poor optimization and countless bugs and it really doesn't have the attention to detail or gameplay design of E.Y.E.

It's also meant for only coop since it really is a much harder game than what L4D is and the A.I sucks dick.

3dbd84 (1)  No.15694502>>15694523 >>15698583 >>15699897

It was hot unoptimized repetitive garbage on release people only paid attention to because it was made by the people who made the buggy mindfuckfest that was EYE, though all this was was just a bugfest with less fucking around with cool powers and more straight up horde shooting.

It got a major update this year which added a proper progression systems, fixes a lot of the bugs, and properly optimized the game some more, but at that point nobody really cared about the game and doesn't take away from the inherent boring core design of the game

So as it turns out only AAA companies can get away with releasing glitchy messes and patching it later.

Pretty much yeah, all that marketing, branding and social engineering creates positive results for these companies.

Couple that with increasing consumerism and corporativism and less and less independent thought and you get the modern consumer.

You are a retard beyond measure.

If it has anything then it's attention to detail.

>Wasn't it supposed to be Left 4 Dead in space but it was shit?

I played it for something like 150 hours and lost interest, it was okay and the tanks vs horde aspect is pretty cool; but it lacked the murder sandbox aspect of EYE and the mod or dev support to keep the content rolling and invest more time playing this.

It gets a special mention for being the best looking WH40k game so far.

fcb043 (2)  No.15695074

>>15694440 (OP)

It had a good single-player and good coop-mode, though relatively few levels and same-ish enemies (it's Space Hulk after all).

Some retards hated it because it wasn't a space marines versus all factions of 40k.

fd23f0 (1)  No.15695271

As a whole, it was a decently enjoyable game. It did suffer early from awful optimization issues, but the devs fixed up (last I played) quite a bit of it, re-released it as a separate game on steam, but also did the absolutely not shit tier act of ensuring everyone who got the original game got the new version completely free. It should be something that every dev does, but it doesn't happen often enough. Would it be better if the game came out optimized? No fucking question, but I'd rather they go back and fix the fuck ups than leaving the game as is or worse, releasing the game but making it so everyone has to buy it.

I'm not sure if they are still working on it but I also was lucky that my friends and brother had the game so we got to fuck around as space Marines for a while there. If you hated Vermintide or fighting off waves of enemies, steer clear. But it does look and feel good although I've heard people complain about melee weapons and how they feel If you can get it super cheap or free, get it and check it out.

I just wouldn't mind seeing another EYE game or more added to this to be honest.

bb4371 (2)  No.15695621>>15695669 >>15699044

>>15695035

Did they ever fix the animations? Nothing looked like it had any kick and the gameplay didn't make a lot of sense because, at least at release, it seemed that shuttering meant fuck all because of magic respawns.

bb4371 (2)  No.15695644

Is it better than the old games or not? At a point this is like talking about MechWarrior.

f5de8b (2)  No.15695655>>15696219

Great atmosphere, its awesome. It just isn't replayable. There's no 'unique' experience left once you do all 10 or so Chapters, and some SM missions and the news mines map. Sure quests are random and you navigate differently, but there's no bite. Move from quest A to B, do the task move on. The most interaction you get is pressing a button or holding an area. I want to escort Mechanicus, destroy an entire section, seal off a hive nest, pop open the hull to vacuum, turn off gravity engines, magnetic walk on walls, more holes on ceiling for enemy entry which you can seal, etc.

Yep, although for 20 or so bucks or even less during a sale it's still solid and the art direction and presentation are autistically detailed. Anyone who ever wanted to walk through an Imperial space cathedral will get a lot of enjoyment out of this.

i'm not one of those "if it isn't perfect it's SHIT" people but the original release should not have cost money. it was just plain fucked in every single technical way, and i think i can honestly say the only good part of it was the atmosphere - the head bob, the big stompy sounds and the HUD really make you feel like a Terminator when you're moving around. the "Enhanced Edition" now actually works at a mechanical level but for me at least the damage was done; I tried to enjoy it but really it's not special outside of those same atmosphere things

They hired Streum On for good PR, but they left out the fact there was also a shovelware studio called Cyanide working on the game.

It's a shame, the game did a lot of damage to Streum On's reputation. I'm not sure if they'll ever make another game.

Don't say these things. We still need E.Y.E 2: Federation Doorkicking Action. They've been quiet, but surely Streum have something up their sleeves, behind the scenes?

Deathwing probably dampened their spirits quite a bit. Considering they are massive 40k fans, were then given an opportunity to make their 40k game and kind of fucking botched it, they probably aren't very happy.

this

multidev games are never a good idea, but on release it was buggy as hell, the campaign was pretty meh and they should have given you more control over your squad a la SWAT

that said, the game looked amazing and nailed the 40k aesthic

Not really. It's actually much easier solo (with AI) than L4D on the hardest difficulty, considering that I actually managed to beat the game that way after pirating it. You just have to learn how to abuse the right spells pretty much.

d92835 (1)  No.15699691

I'll admit I've never played their cycling games (which I think is how they pay the bills as sports games are rent) but I've played most of the rest and it's fucking good.

Cyanide is probably the most solid AA game company there is.

The new CoC is pretty much a walking simulator but they tried to hide it with a mix of things (stats checks and whatnot) and nailed the ambiance, which is THE most important thing BTW.

It's not as good as the first part of DCotE, but it's still pretty nice.

b3271f (1)  No.15699719>>15699897

>>15694440 (OP)

The Enhanced edition was okay, but launch was shit and there's a bit of disappointment because it was fucking limited as shit, the turn-based tactics games were okay, but translate that to an FPS with the same rules (You better enjoy the same environment and fucking wave hordes over and over) made the game a goddamn chore, not even Gavin Thorpe's non-existent story for the game, can save it

>>15699707

It's a walking simulator with some hallmark RPG and Adventure game systems, but dear god, it kinda loses it's subtlety by mid-game. Still trying to see if the little choices matter.

Confirmed for never having played the fucking game.

I actually liked the game but won't necessarily recommend it to anyone for its gameplay. However, it is a

fucking requirement

for ANYone who is a fan of the WH40k aesthetic to play through this game, even pirated and on Easy settings. It's a fucking masterpiece of environment design, if not level design

>inb4 durr the layout is just grid-like half the time why isnt it more open world

It takes place on a fucking spaceship, so that critique is bullshit. It's actually way more open than any spaceship has any right to be, to great effect.

>>15694502

>doesn't take away from the inherent boring core design of the game

>>15698548

Did it, really? I really hope so. If they could build off of this and get more creative with a spiritual sequel or something The thought of open-field large scale terminator front-line battles with chaos makes me moist at least with the same characters I'd be super happy to hear about it.

>>15699719

>the same environment

IIRC every level had at least one significantly "Holy fuck this room" area in it. The engine room with those massive pistons and bull gears, the psyker containment facility in the Blackship, the cathedral of the Black Templars, etc…
