Someone asked just how the fuck do SJW comics actually get made when they sell like shit. Doesn't the board of directors or the like have a say on this? Don't they know what's happening and why their profits are tanking?
Short answer: no, they really don't. There's a very tall grapevine all the day from the guys that write the damn things up the corporate ladder till it gets to said board of directors. Every level of said corporate ladder fears for their job so they'll spiel an excuse in addition to everything that comes from lower. By the time the suits get a "report" on the sales, it has a bunch of crap like "it's the wrong season" or "it's the color of the suits" or "fans don't like animal themed super heroes" and other bullshit that makes it sound like there's an actual plan to solve the situation that doesn't involve firing anyone. That board of directors doesn't even read comics or know the first thing about it, they trust those that work for them with that, all they care about is a return in their investment.
So for videogames, it's essentially the same. They don't so much care about the theme of the game as to how well it will sell. They have no idea what a "metroidvania" or a "platformer" is, but if they think it's going to sell more than an RTS, that's what gets made. That's how Overwatch clones popped up all the time, because the investors were told this was the new fad.
Now the guys suplying this information are the mid-level employees, the ones with art degrees that not only highly increase the odds that they are indocrinated but also means that their job is all they have and they can't lose it or they'll fucking starve.
So for guys that are already inclined to think that the world is one big BLM party, for guys that depend on their job and position and therefore need the safest possible bet they can make, you can damn well bet they'll believe and spread the idea that nazi supporters are a minority and everyone is gay for LGBT stuff.
You gotta remenber that a lot of those faggots also live in cultural bubbles and they do actually believe that crap. Most of them got quite a reality shock when Trump won, they had no idea there were that many "nazi supporters" out there. To them, America really was this big gay rainbow and white supremacists a ghost of the past. If so many people in that business believe that, it doesn't even matter if it's true or not, it's what goes up the corporate ladder and it's the "reality" by which decisions are made.
One shouldn't think that companies are full of incredibly talented, professional and inteligent individuals, even if they do have a fuckton of cash. Companies still have people leading them and they can fail. Telltale comes to mind, so does Cliff Bazinga and Randy Pitchford. They will indeed make bad decisions based on wrong, idealistic world views they hold not because they want to subvert the world into their ideas but because they already believe the world is like that.
"Toxic players" is still and always will be about player retention. It's just that they do seriously believe that they can retain the biggest amount of players by keeping anyone to the right of Stalin out.
To be honest, nazi sympathizers are indeed an incredibly tiny minority for obvious reasons. Any movement that advocates for genocide of any kind will always fail to garner much support in the civilized world
