This isn't about GoG. All GoG would do if they got big enough to challenge Steam would become Steam 2.0. A duopoly isn't much better than a monopoly. The market is not competitive anymore because Steam has too much power now. The market is best when the consumer and the developers and publishers have many options. Decentralization is better than centralization, especially for freedom; one would think this concept wouldn't be hard to grasp.

Now that Valve and Steam have so much power, they could do whatever the hell they want. Right now you are literally relying on their fucking benevolence, and right now you should've realized by now that that's not a good idea with the direction their company has taken since 2014

I wish a site or something similar would come out that would just direct you to the ways you could buy directly from a developer or publisher. Sometimes its hard to find any ways to buy shit and support them without going through a middleman. Something sort of like VNDB but better and for all games.

I do agree though, if the market were split at least that many ways, it would be competitive enough to allow many smaller ones to flourish in their niches while the large ones still have value to offer customers and developers (while the small ones also would still have the ability to grow to a large size if they push hard enough and succeed through good business) ; we might also be able to see actual competition again too as devs, publishers and storefronts try to offer unique shit to pull in the customers to their storefronts. I know we like to shit on Western Devs a lot, especially for what I'm about to say, but I have to say that the Japanese are kind of absolutely shit at making a "cinematic experience." Usually their base gameplay is way better, but whenever Japanese devs try to do the levels where you do something outside of the normal gameplay, they always end up being the worst fucking levels you could imagine. I've been playing MonHun World and the story missions where you fight the big giant Zorah Magdoros are supposed to be this epic, giant encounters where you're crawling around on a monster bigger than a sky scraper, and instead it's just the most tedious fucking thing you've ever played and you want it to be fucking over.
