Another thing I haven't seen mentioned here before, is that at some point they changed the way that material scrolls work. Instead of assigning a random material, scrolls now follow a set pattern of material changes:

Inferior Material

All:

paper → cloth → silk → mica → raw → leather → glass → scale → coral → bronze → iron → bone → paper

Change Material

Unblessed & Cursed:

zylon → obsidian → chrome → metal → steel → chain → silver → platinum → gold → perl → griffon scale → zylon

Blessed:

zylon → obsidian → chrome → metal → steel → chain → silver → platinum → gold → perl → griffon scale → dragon scale → adamantium → zylon

Superior Material

Unblessed & Cursed:

dawn cloth → spirit cloth → dragon scale → crystal → titanium → mithril → adamantium → emerald → diamond → dawn cloth

Blessed:

dawn cloth → spirit cloth → dragon scale → crystal → titanium → mithril → adamantium → emerald → diamond → rubynus → ether → dawn cloth

What this means:

>the old advice that "blessed change material scrolls are basically superior material scrolls" is not really true anymore

>blessing material scrolls in general is much less useful. they behave exactly the same as unblessed and cursed scrolls now, except at the very end of the patterns for getting dragon scale, adamantium, rubynus, or ether

>however, notice that dragon scale and adamantium are in both the superior material and blessed change material patterns. this means you can use many change material scrolls and 1 or 2 blessed change material scrolls to "skip" into the superior material pattern, saving many expensive superior material scrolls to get what you want

>since you can predict the pattern, this makes certain materials better for certain purposes. for example, if you want to change shoes or other equipment into raw so you can eat them, mica would be good because it only requires 1 inferior material scroll to get to raw, whereas leather would require 11. or if you want rubynus, then emerald is just 2 superior scrolls away

Also, if the initial material of the item is not on the list for the scroll you are using, it will start at the beginning of that scroll's list. So using an inferior material scroll on a steel item would turn it into paper, 100% of the time. This means:

>you can now almost always turn heavy tools/furniture like happy beds into paper with a single inferior material scroll

>for fairies, it's very easy to get dawn cloth equipment now

>if you want to "reset" the material (e.g. if you have a dragon scale item that you want to turn into dawn cloth without blowing a ton of superior material scrolls), just use an inferior material scroll first, then you will only need one superior material scroll to get dawn cloth

>zylon and dawn cloth have decent value factors of 500 and 850 respectively, so it can be worth spending a single change or superior material scroll to increase the value of high value items, like speed rings or some sub-godly quality artifacts, before you sell them. using change material, you will not get more value than zylon until you reach gold, and with superior material, you won't beat dawn cloth until adamantium, which can be reached with change material scrolls anyway.

If you are going gunner, there's not much point on focusing on defense and evasion unless you'll be shooting right next to them, but then again there are some shooting enemies as well so it's fine.

You'll be keeping a distance so you want stuff like the dimensional jump to run away. Speed is ALWAYS good, so up that and maybe get a mount for more speed (I've never used one so don't all me).You could go for resistances to counteract magic enemies, they are a pain for non-mages.

Some monsters out there have the "cMetal" flag on them, which means they take 90% reduced physical damage. Bells have this.

Other monsters have the "resEle" flag, which makes them outright immune to elemental damage (Magic and Water spells still do damage). I think Cubes have this.

Monsters with these tend to have pathetic (<10) Life scores as a result.

Some monsters have both flags, but if recruited to your party will lose one, usually resEle. Bells exhibit this.

There is a single exception that is definitely an oversight, and is paramount to cheating.

The game should show the health of the last enemy you attacked (AND managed to hit, so if they dodged it may not show up) by default. Anyway, for capturing enemies you should rely on using the KNOCKOUT skill. Its a skill that deals damage like regular attacks but it CANT kill. Enemies hurt by it will survive with 1 hp and be stunned, and if you try to use it on someone who is already at 1 hp it will warn you and not work.

Rainbow fruits aren't too uncommon a result when planting fruit seeds. With the seasonal crop system in E+ 1.72, rainbow fruit will only grow during months 3-5, but you'll get way more.

It's also worth noting that soma restores 200 SP and makes you insane. Way more SP than you'd get from soda, but to make use of them in combat you'd need to use a unicorn horn or the statue of Jure or something.

You want to get used to the numpad, though, because of diagonals. Your numpad should have a notch over the '5' so you can home on it without even looking.

For harvest quests your need at least a pet, the more the merrier, but a single pet like the little girl should do good as long as no monsters are in sight when you begin picking up veggies.

Save turns at the start or after unloading a batch by teleporting, short teleport is easy to learn if you're a mage and rods of teleportation are common in the puppy cave. Take note of where you start in the minimap so you can actually deliver the veggies to the box.

Do not pick anything below 'hand sized' - you can check stuff with '*' without actually having to spend turns walking there.

Do not pick anything while Overweight: your backpack will crush you interrupting the attempt. While heavily burdened you will also act slower which means you'll consume more time picking up and walking. A batch that pushes you to Overweight is usually enough to meet the quota anyway.

Oh and don't bother training Gardening. It levels ridiculously quickly even at 15%ish potential.

I never got this meme. all good artifacts I've managed to get my hands onto were either randomly generated or crafted by myself, even with a rank 1k+ blackmarket I've never found anything good enough to use there. Ever since 1.71 overhauled crafting they feel 100% useless to me.

Your stats also have potential; that's what the "Superb" "Hopeless" etc. label next your stats are. You need to keep your potentials high or you will never get gainz. I don't know the exact formula that Elona uses, but if you take it literally, you can train up to 4x as fast at the max 400% potential (this is a waste usually because the higher your potential the more you lose), but more importantly as you fall under 100% potential you will train twice as slow at 50%, 10 times slower at 10%, even 100 times slower at 1%.

You really want all the blessed potions of potential you can get for this, they add 100% to the potential of every stat except luck and speed. You need to invest in magic shops in order to buy these, so do this ASAP:

>get the investing skill, training it makes it investing cheaper and also trains your charisma

>spend enough plat at the trainer to get your investing to at least 200%

>go to a magic vendor, offer to invest, select "invest 50."

(Investing gets more expensive the higher the shop's rank, but invest 50 will invest enough for 50 levels ''at the current investing price", so it's much cheaper than investing bit by bit, even when taking into account…)

>watch your investing and charisma skyrocket from all of the training you just gave them

>rinse and repeat for every magic vendor you find

This should cost about 10-20k per vendor, and get the vendor to about rank 60. You can start seeing potions of potential at this point, but for them to be reasonably common you want at least rank 100. This is much more expensive though (over 100k for the second invest 50), so now you need to think about making money.

Once you've begun to stockpile potions of potential to bless, you will see just how ludicrously fast you can train in Elona with high potential. For example, with superb potential in DEX, PER, evasion, and greater evasion, you can go into a dungeon alone and just sit there letting a reasonably strong (or rather, accurate) enemy wail on your while you hold down 5, and in a few minutes you will have gained multiple levels in each and exhausted your potential. Or (as mentioned earlier) with superb potential in charisma and negotiation you can spam invest 50 at cheap vendors and exhaust your potential in seconds

tl;dr grinding anything is piss easy in Elona, the challenge is all the shit you have to do to keep your potential high.

There are other ways to keep stat potential up, worry about these after the potions of potential start coming in:

>get a happy bed so you will get more good dreams, including dreams that randomly raise potential

>teach a pet cooking, and if you wake up from sleep in the morning, she will cook breakfast for you and your pets which gives potential

>make picnic baskets, which also give potential to your entire party. the rarest ingredient required are eggs, so you will want to set up a ranch of chickens or another monster that breeds fast. the other ingredients (corpse, fish, veggie, fruit, bread) are easier to come by

If anything I want an option for personal gods. I would probably create a god that is constantly drunk and you offer smoking items and alcohol to build favor and faith.

I don't know how werewolves work. I've accused NPCs that had "_ the werewolf" in their name, and accused NPCs that the werewolf detective said were "definitely a werewolf", and never got them to transform. Even killed them and nothing happened but the karma penalty.

I thought Elona had more of a multiplayer aspect, but it seems singleplayer only.

Man the Skill Ticket system is a real lifesaver. I'd rather spend the plat on training skill potential. Also holy fuck the pot of fusion can be ridiculously OP with some creative uses. Throwing crim ale at melee enemies as ranged/wizard is a valid strategy, not as effective as confusion/blindness but much more readily available.

Werewolves are weird. It seems like they repurposed the town board that was for voting for nicknames into a werewolf voting board. You vote for whichever citizen is the werewolf and if they're at the top of the list and you're in town at a specific hour of the day, you'll see them get killed. Teleport rods are your go-to method for escaping pirates, but they'll only get you out of the immediate danger zone; you still need to slog it on foot to the map border to flee. You mean a caro of traveler's food? In Elona+ they're only consumed when at "Starving!", only only when on the overworld so it may be that you're entering a town just as you lapse into starvation. Regardless, traveler's food is terrible and one of the first habits a new player needs to break is relying on them for food - the gains you get from properly prepared food is so insanely vital that the longer you try to survive on traveler's food, the harder things will get.

Until your identify an item it'll sell for fuck all. Identifying weapons and armor is rarely worthwhile since you have to do it each and every time you find a new one, but generic items like "blood of X", "skin of Y" or "mana crystal" can be identified once and then, from that point onwards, ALL "blood of x" or "mana crystals" you find will sell at their identified pricepoint.

All the jobs have a difficulty rating listed next to them, so be careful not to pick a massively high-grade job. "before it's too late" jobs can be a good source of quick cash (It shouldn't take more than 4 days to get to or from Vernis to either Palmia, Yowyn or Derphy), just try to avoid trips to Noyel until you've got gear with some decent Travel Quickly bonuses - the snow around that town means you'll be walking for days to actually get there.

Was skimming the wiki yesterday, apparently you can cut down trees while having a bardish in your inventory (heavy axe). This produces wood material for a pot of fusion recipe, which creates furniture.

I didnt invest in carpentry this run but I do have jeweler leveled and the sister recipe with stone materials (from plain old digging) is very profitable, specially if you have a shopkeeper at home.

You will notice that as you identify stuff, the cost of "Identify all my items" at the wizard goes steadily down. This is because at first it charges you for identifying everything about an item, however your character learns the basic type of item at that moment (bone, book, skin, tight rope, potion, etc), even without Sense Quality. After that, the wizard only checks for things like beatitude, charges, etc, which is much cheaper.

The exception being equipments which are never worth carrying their weight around because they sell for shit (unless at your own shop, if you owned a shop you wouldn't be reading this). Ok so I have a question/dilemma

I started a rabbit farm for income which turned out very well, every time I return i have almost a screenful of milk and eggs.

So now I wanted to breed asuras for hand slots for my upcoming pets. Since the rabbits are so productive, I simply replaced the rabbit breeder for a mitra one. It's been a while without a new mitra. The remaining rabbits are still fucking about the farm and shitting eggs and milk. Is the farm now wired only to breed rabbits? Do I have to murder all the rabbits? Do I just set up a second ranch and hope they break even?

Jiu jitsu is good for swapping up if you are whiffing or tickling an enemy because of a DV/PV difference. Remember to toggle them and get a feel for what works best on what enemy type.

Use claws until you hit roughly 150-ish martial arts skill. Then you can ditch them. I Dunno if they changed it but having the claws adds accuracy damage and stats- But it also culls down your multi strike chance with martial arts. And at that point of skill your damage dice is starting to get crazy anyway.

Claws are weird- They are classified as shields but they don't give shield bonuses I think nor do they enable shield bash.

Wielding them trains the shield skill like holding a tonfa would- They are mostly just straight up for the flat accuracy and damage added. I have no clue if this even applies to other types of attack other than martial arts.

Also I think in that situation it might behave either like a shield or turn off two hand. I havn't tested.

Setup your own shop and let your pet selll the food for you, not only the food will not rot but you will also get more money if your pet has a high level on negotiation, A pet with high charisma is also reccomended as charisma boost the amount of clientes you will get per day.
