We're a growing business and finally ready to ditch spreadsheets for a real PIM system. The problem is, some of these platforms seem incredibly complex with features we'll never use. Are we better off sticking with something simpler, even if it means potentially outgrowing it later? Is investing in a complex system upfront really worth the added cost and learning curve, or are we just paying for features we don't need? Has anyone regretted going too big with their PIM selection?

That's a great question, and honestly, it's something a lot of growing businesses struggle with. I came across this article that directly compares PIMinto and Pimcore, and it highlights this exact issue: https://piminto.com/piminto-vs-pimcore-choosing-the-right-pim-solution-for-your-business . It argues that the hidden costs of complex PIMs, like implementation delays and the need for specialized personnel, can outweigh the benefits for many businesses. The key takeaway was really understanding what features you *actually* need versus what's just nice to have.

It seems like the best approach is to really analyze your current and near-future needs before committing to a PIM solution. Many companies likely over-estimate the complexity they require, ending up with a system that is difficult to use and expensive to maintain. Scalability is important, but maybe it's better to choose a simpler PIM that can be upgraded later, rather than starting with a behemoth that overwhelms the team. Requires some careful planning, I guess.
