Every single text editor sucks. They're all garbage and yet you just keep using it because you like the community around it. Admit it.

Either your text editor was designed before the potential of a GUI was realized, proprietary, or it's some soy laden faggotry that is "programmed" by embedding a fucking web browser sprinkled with JS shitware plugins.

Vim -- Shit configuration, the world outside of Vim isn't modal.

Emacs -- Silly key coords, tries to be an operating system. Newfags aren't impressed with LISP.

VS -- Browser faggotry (see above)

SublimeText -- Proprietary pseudo abandonware.

Atom -- Lol, so shit that its users ran to VS

Anything else out there isn't listed due to being too worthless to make my list. How do you cope with your shitty text editing lives /tech/?

This shouldn't matter, but it does. Enthusiastic programmers with lots of free time to spend writing text editor plugins are much more likely to do so when they can use a modern language they're familiar with. I cannot imagine many 18-25 year-olds know or care about Elisp.

The fact, that it's browser doesn't matter.

The fact they make code checks for errors on microsoft servers or somebody's else servers is what's wrong with VS Code.

text editors just keep me sharp. If i want to do work really quick i switch to an IDE but if i have time to spare i usually do everything with a text editor. I found that my code has gotten cleaner and i'm able to think better and more clear and i'm able to type faster with minimal mistakes.

i also forgot to mention that it's tough to use an IDE when you SSH into a machine so i tend to use VIM a lot. Nano for small edits.

Emacs TRAMP is still the best I've seen for remote editing.

Emacs LISP is indeed an subpar LISP, but it's still more of a joy to use as a language to develop plugins in than Python (Sublime), VimScript, or JS shit.

Yes it does you absolute pleb. The best you can hope for is street shitter performance and trendy faggots in joining the community because "js is like so totally hackable." KYS twice.

SublimeText for being well polished and performant on all platforms. Emacs if you want God like power over your editing environment.
