Cnile logic:

>i want to write this in assembly so i can hand-tune everything

>dood don't bother, you will never beat the optimization a compiler can give you!!!1!

>i want to write this in a higher level language, which has high performance implementations

>dood you will never beat hand-written c!!!1

Explain yourselves. Convince me this isn't doublethink at its finest to shill your toy language.

c is generally portable while assembly is not

you can easily inline assembly in c if the need arises but writing pure assembly for general purpose is not useful because of portability

I don't write C because I believe I can do a better job than a high-level language or framework. Quite the contrary, OP. I only write C when there is no higher level alternative in order to facilitate low level functionality.

Also, somewhat this: >>1084643 . You need to choose the appropriate abstraction level based on some trade off. I generally tend to go with the highest level of abstraction possible, but it's just that when you deal with hardware that tends to be C and working in kernelspace.
