he was part of the militants but what was rather interesting is that he was not really an action man kind of guy. the afghans said that the arabs that came to fight had no idea about anything. they would keep them in training for months and had to teach them everything from scratch.
>no, don't stick your head out you fucking retard
>where you goin' you wanna die or something?
so the arabs were called "tourists" by the afghans because they were not rreally useful on the battlefield. However, they loved the fact that Osama had his connections into high society so he was very good at sourcing money for the war. And later in the conflict, Osama would bring personnel from home to afghanistan to build roads for the militants to use.
Then there was some battle at a mountain. Osama and his crew were being smoked out by the russians. They were facing total annihilation and they called for Heckmatyars crew in help. They somehow managed to win the battle on that mountain and the russians retreated. This is where the myth about osama was conceived. Up until then he was a nobody but suddenly he was that arab guy who made the russians flee in fear. When in fact the heckmatyar crew did support them heavily and without their help the russians would have swiss cheesed them all up.
from then on he would have fanboys following him everywhere and wanting to join him and do everything for him and all that shit.
It is also interesting to note that he went to Sudan to live after getting in troubles with the saudi government. there he was in construction business and he was producing food. he had an agricultural system as large as a a small country. he said he just wanted to feed the people in sudan since it was a famine a few years before.
after the bombing of the US embassies all his assets were taken and he overnight became a poorfag. I feel like this was the turning point that made him the worlds enemy
