>2018

>mama turkey and some baby turkeys start passing through my parents yard

>hang out under the bird feeders and eat the seed that falls down

>don't like fast movements but they don't mind us getting pretty near, let us watch them from porch, sleep in the long grass at end of yard sometimes

>babies start disappearing one at a time over a few weeks, coyotes around

>eventually just mama and one that limps a bit

>disappear for fall/winter

>2019

>limping turkey comes back, start feeding him

>get good corn for him because feel bad for him

>he's around most mornings and we think sleeps in woods nearby

>name him bert and when we see him a ways off my mom goes out and calls him

>he comes running because he knows mummy gives him corn when she calls his name

>he's our turkey friend

>disappears for fall/winter

>2020

>some houses that were weekend homes become full-time homes because of coronavirus

>a lot more people in our little neighborhood

>all the animals make themselves scarce because of human activity

>neighbor extends house into bert's home

>don't see bert all summer

>2021

>neighborhood quiets back down a bit

>sitting on porch this morning

>see turkey under the bird feeder

>think about how i hadn't seen one there in a while

>starts walking away

>limping a little bit

>realize it's bert again

>tell mummy

>he already left but she tries calling him anyways

>bert remembers his name and comes running back to the yard for corn

>one more year for my friend bert

I didn't realize how much I liked this turkey until I saw him today.

okay, finally I get to explain this in here......

ANIMALS are the secret to happiness

all of the reasons why you avoid people

vanish in the company of an animal

I HAVE NEVER MET AN ANIMAL WHO :

* Lied To Me

* Pretended To Be My Friend

=* Made Me Feel Unjustly Used==

* Gave Me Shitty Advice

* Sold Me Shitty Weed

* Called The Cops On Me

* Tried To Fuck My GF Behind My Back

* Cheated On Me

* Broke a Promise To Me

* Betrayed Me In Any Way, Shape Or Form

ONLY THE TWO-LEGGED"HUMAN" ANIMAL DOES THESE THINGS

your answer to happiness has always been animals

helping them

building a relationship

REAL mutual respect

there's nothing more rewarding

If you truly want to feel better, take my advice :

-find a local No-kill Animal Shelter near you

-wake up really early

-have your mom drop you off

-walk in the door and tell them you're there to volunteer, and ask them what they want you to do

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT LIFE ADVICE :

by volunteering to scoop litter boxes, change food & water bowls, clean and disinfecting surfaces, etc you will also get to know each animal there, and get to know each of their personalities. It's really quite satisfying.

When you're done volunteering (usually takes about 90 minutes) you'll end up saying goodbye to the animals, some of which will be begging you to please stay and keep them company.

When you go home, look in the mirror.......

You're going to see a reflection of a happier man

you're going to see a man you RESPECT MORE

see, by volunteering to help the animals

you're not going to have time to focus on YOU

you're not going to have time to dwell on your own problems...

your depression has been created by being online, overthinking things, which turns into to a self-absorbed depression, and life becomes a snowball of stagnant gloom.

By volunteering to help animals, you won't have time to focus on your own problems. It's quite liberating...

The Best News:

When you go back and volunteer again the next day, certain animals (the ones who begged you to stay) will be elated to see their new friend return

We used to have a group of about 6 turkeys that hung around our property.

They would cross it at certain times of the day like a schedule, deer were always with them for some reason, like one group was looking out for the other. The deer would run if i approached but the turkey were chill and werent afraid of me but wouldnt let me touch them.

Sometimes in the early morning like 20 or 30 of them would pass thru and the dog was afraid of that many of them.

I havent been there in about 2 years so i hope they still are around.

you can raise birds and sell their eggs if you like taking care of them so much

I've never seen them hanging out with deer but that's cute. From what I've seen they go into smaller groups during the summer when there are babies to take care of and bigger groups in the winter, I guess for safety or company.
