>don't like fast movements but they don't mind us getting pretty near, let us watch them from porch, sleep in the long grass at end of yard sometimes
>babies start disappearing one at a time over a few weeks, coyotes around
>eventually just mama and one that limps a bit
>disappear for fall/winter

>limping turkey comes back, start feeding him
>get good corn for him because feel bad for him
>he's around most mornings and we think sleeps in woods nearby
>name him bert and when we see him a ways off my mom goes out and calls him
>he comes running because he knows mummy gives him corn when she calls his name

>a lot more people in our little neighborhood
>all the animals make themselves scarce because of human activity
>neighbor extends house into bert's home
>don't see bert all summer

>realize it's bert again
>tell mummy
>he already left but she tries calling him anyways
>bert remembers his name and comes running back to the yard for corn

I didn't realize how much I liked this turkey until I saw him today.
