He was never Christian because he never kept Christ's Commandments. He never loved Christ.
Christ said those who DO His Commandments are the ones who Love Him and are Saved:
He that hath My Commandments, AND KEEPETH THEM, HE it is that Loveth Me.
Blessed are they that DO His Commandments, that THEY may have Right to the Tree of Life.
He that Loveth Me NOT Keepeth not My Sayings.
Christ Commanded:
Take no thought for your body, what ye shall put on. The pope's ostentatious robes violate that Commandment.
Call no man Father upon the earth. The pope's title violates that Commandment.
Swear not at all (any oath). All clergy, pope included, swear oaths.
Store not up for yourselves treasures upon Earth. The pope is surrounded by treasures, statues, and idols, and wears idolatrous gold on his head.
Thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are, who love to pray that they may be seen of men. The pope prays publicly every day in violation of Christ's Commandment to pray IN SECRET.
Etc.
Christ was clear that ALL of His Commandments apply to ALL people:
Teach ALL Nations to Observe ALL things whatsoever I have Commanded.
Scripture is clear that those who do not keep His Commandments are liars:
He that saith, I Know Him, and Keepeth NOT His Commandments, IS A LIAR, and the Truth is NOT in him.
ALL LIARS shall have their Part in the Lake which Burneth with Fire.
The pope will not Be Saved.
