Dear Mr. President:
Stop saying you support jail for flag burning. You were at a rally and were "getting your supporters riled up" I understand that.
But independents like myself find that kind of talk extremely offensive.
Its been decided and made clear by the SCOTUS that flag burning is "offensive speech", which is clearly and unequivocally a protected right as a free American citizen. After all, where would such a law start and stop anyway? Here in pic related is a flag. If I print it out and burn it, jail? What if I use it as a coaster? Freedom is freedom, and shouldnt protect people from getting their feelings hurt, whether it be a patriot who doesnt want the flag burned, or a black man who doesnt want the KKK to have a march, or a religious figure who doesnt want a parody of himself in Penthouse saying he has sex with his mother.
Signed,
A concerned Anon.
