Of course in school you get told to do what authority says and that authority (teacher) is always right.

You are told to follow orders and solve problems the way authority told you to.

And that goes on for 10 years.

You aren't allowed to actually focus on a certain topic, everything changes constantly.

And in the end most of what you "learn" is nonsense that you don't need in real life, and the important stuff is actually not taught in school, gee I wonder why.

Get good grades if you do that well.

That's also why bullying is even encouraged, that way you break most non-conforming children in one way or another. If they off themselves, that good seen from the perspective of the evil government. One less problem.

In the end tons of NPCs come out of that.

Can I blame them?

For a bit, yes I can.

I had good grades, well for the most part in school, but I made some teachers really angry by questioning all sorts of shit. Of course nowhere close to what I do nowadays. But I guess if I would have chosen the medical doctor path, I would have gotten thrown out because there is no way I wouldn't have questioned the vaccine bullcrap.

Others simply don't want to and that's a choice to make.

You get fed bullshit and you should go "wait, that's bullshit, wtf is going on".

China Unexpectedly Cuts Reserve Ratio For Banks, Injecting $73BN To Stimulate Economy

Early Friday, China’s central bank surprised by announcing an unexpected cut to the amount that banks set aside for deposits by 25 basis points, vowing to keep ample liquidity in the interbank system and better fund the real economy.

The People’s Bank of China reduced the reserve requirement ratio for almost all banks by 0.25 percentage points, effective from March 27, it said in a statement on Friday. The PBOC last cut the RRR in December, by the same magnitude. The cut, effective March 27, is expected to inject 500 billion yuan ($72.6 billion) worth of liquidity into the market, while the average reserve requirement ratio of Chinese financial institutions will be lowered to 7.6 per cent.The RRR cut comes just days after China’s new government took office and the freshly inaugurated Premier Li Qiang pledged to achieve an annual economic growth target of around 5% this year.

“The PBOC will keep monetary policy targeted and powerful,” the central bank said in a statement adding that “We’ll provide better support for key areas and weak links, refrain from a big stimulus … and concentrate on pushing for high-quality development.”

Economists said the cut was aimed at ensuring liquidity in the banking system to sustain the rapid pace of lending seen in January and February, yet which led to modest economic results as discussed earlier this week.

China’s consumer spending and investment rebounded in the first two months of the year after pandemic restrictions were dropped in December, according to recent official data. But the recovery remains uncertain, with unemployment still elevated, property investment continuing to contract and falling exports dragging on industrial output.

“It seems that the central bank is not going to slow the pace of credit growth as people feared,” said Xing Zhaopeng, senior China strategist at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd.

The timing of the cut could be due to concerns that credit growth could slump in April, following the completion of financing for a number of government-led investment projects early this year, Xing added. The yuan pared an advance of as much as 0.6%, trading 0.1% stronger at 6.89 in the onshore market after the PBOC’s move.

Goldman Sachs asks in biotech research report: ‘Is curing patients a sustainable business model?’ (2018)

Goldman Sachs analysts attempted to address a touchy subject for biotech companies, especially those involved in the pioneering “gene therapy” treatment: cures could be bad for business in the long run.

“Is curing patients a sustainable business model?” analysts ask in an April 10 report entitled “The Genome Revolution.”

“The potential to deliver ‘one shot cures’ is one of the most attractive aspects of gene therapy, genetically-engineered cell therapy and gene editing. However, such treatments offer a very different outlook with regard to recurring revenue versus chronic therapies,” analyst Salveen Richter wrote in the note to clients Tuesday. “While this proposition carries tremendous value for patients and society, it could represent a challenge for genome medicine developers looking for sustained cash flow.”

Richter cited Gilead Sciences’ treatments for hepatitis C, which achieved cure rates of more than 90 percent. The company’s U.S. sales for these hepatitis C treatments peaked at $12.5 billion in 2015, but have been falling ever since. Goldman estimates the U.S. sales for these treatments will be less than $4 billion this year, according to a table in the report.

“GILD is a case in point, where the success of its hepatitis C franchise has gradually exhausted the available pool of treatable patients,” the analyst wrote. “In the case of infectious diseases such as hepatitis C, curing existing patients also decreases the number of carriers able to transmit the virus to new patients, thus the incident pool also declines … Where an incident pool remains stable (eg, in cancer) the potential for a cure poses less risk to the sustainability of a franchise.”

The analyst didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The report suggested three potential solutions for biotech firms:

“Solution 1: Address large markets: Hemophilia is a $9-10bn WW market (hemophilia A, B), growing at ~6-7% annually.”

“Solution 2: Address disorders with high incidence: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) affects the cells (neurons) in the spinal cord, impacting the ability to walk, eat, or breathe.”

“Solution 3: Constant innovation and portfolio expansion: There are hundreds of inherited retinal diseases (genetics forms of blindness) … Pace of innovation will also play a role as future programs can offset the declining revenue trajectory of prior assets.”

The sister of a woman killed in a boat crash involving entrepreneur Kevin O'Leary and his wife is frustrated with the justice system and says that one year later, the families of the victims still have no answers as to what happened that night in August 2019.

"It's almost like a slap on the wrist for them and a slap in the face for the families," said Paula Brito, speaking for the first time since her sister, Suzana Brito, died from injuries sustained in the crash on a lake north of Toronto.

"I feel that there hasn't been any accountability for what happened."

Brito and her parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit in November 2019 against O'Leary and his wife, Linda, who was behind the wheel, as well as the owner and the driver of the other boat, seeking $2 million in damages.

It's just one in a flurry of legal actions that are all temporarily on hold after the O'Learys filed a motion in federal court denying any negligence and liability in the crash and seeking to prevent any additional claims being made against them in other courts.

In that motion, the couple also seek to limit any damages brought against them to $1 million under the Marine Liability Act.

Months later in May, Kevin and Linda O'Leary filed their own lawsuit claiming more than $3 million in damages against Irv Edwards, the owner of the other boat involved in the crash, and Richard Ruh, the man who was driving, according to documents obtained by CBC News.

Marko Petrovic, the lawyer representing Edwards and Ruh in the lawsuit, said the men will not be commenting. In court documents, they both deny responsibility for the crash. They are also seeking to have any damages against them limited to $1 million under the Marine Liability Act.

More than a year after a deadly boat crash involving entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary and his wife, the family members of one of the people killed says they've been told very little about what happened and are trying to get answers through the courts.

Two law firms are representing the O'Learys in the separate cases. Both declined comment because the matters are before the courts.

"I really can't believe that … considering, you know, the loss of life," Brito said in an interview conducted over Zoom from her home in Spain.

On the night of Aug. 24, 2019, a power boat owned by Edwards and driven by Ruh, his friend, came to a stop on Lake Joseph, in the township of Seguin, Ont. Nearly a dozen people were on board hoping to do some stargazing from the water, including Suzana Brito.

According to unsealed search warrant documents obtained by CBC News, the navigation light on the Edwards boat was turned off before 11:30 p.m., when the O'Leary boat collided with it, fatally injuring two of its passengers: Brito, 48, of Uxbridge, Ont., and 64-year-old Gary Poltash of Florida.

Credit Suisse saw more than $450 million in net outflows from its U.S. and European managed funds from March 13 to 15, Morningstar Direct said on Friday, as retail and institutional counterparties pulled money out of funds managed by the embattled Swiss lender.

The more than 300 European funds managed by the bank had an estimated net inflow of just over $14 million on March 13. By March 14 that had flipped to net outflows of $205 million, data provider Morningstar said. On March 15 there were net outflows of just over $211 million, it said. More than 20 U.S. funds tracked showed a $22,000 net outflow on March 13 which widened to $20 million the next day and to $29 million on March 15, Morningstar said. Data after March 15 was yet to be collected and not all funds report daily, Morningstar said. The data included open-end funds and exchange traded products, it said. Yet sentiment remained fragile and on Friday Credit Suisse shares were last down more than 10%.

The lender confirmed last month that clients had pulled out 110 billion Swiss francs ($118.71 billion) of funds in the fourth quarter while the bank reported an annual loss of 7.29 billion Swiss francs ($7.87 billion), its largest since the 2007-08 financial crisis.
