Trump to publish ‘private’ letters from foreign leaders

An upcoming book will feature decades of communications between the ex-president and a long list of public figures

Former US President Donald Trump is set to publish scores of letters from a range of world leaders, celebrities, athletes and business moguls, among them North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, the late Princess Diana and even Hillary Clinton.

Trump announced the upcoming book in a social media post on Thursday. Winning Team Publishing, which will print the collection, stated the work will present the “incredible, and oftentimes private” communications with Trump over the last 40 years.

“We had lots of great letters from lots of great people and not so great people, to be honest with you,” Trump told reporters. “But they’re very famous people. And probably there’s never been such diversity as this in terms of people where the letters come from and who they come from.”

In addition to some 150 letters from big names ranging from Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jackson, US Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama, golf legend Arnold Palmer and even his bitter rivals in the Clinton family, the book will contain “original commentary” from Trump and a collection of photos. It is set for release next month, following his first book published last year, ‘Our Journey Together’, which raked in $20 million in sales after just two months on the shelves.

One letter from Winfrey dated to the year 2000 gives effusive praise to Trump, saying “too bad we’re not running for office. What a team!” Trump noted that while he still thinks highly of the talk show star, he said the feeling is no longer mutual, adding: “Sadly, once I announced for president, she never spoke to me again.”

Trump previously stated North Korea’s supreme leader penned him “beautiful letters” and that they “fell in love” during his time in office. His correspondence with Kim has taken on new importance after the federal government launched a probe into whether he had retained classified material after leaving the White House, which was reportedly triggered after officials noticed letters from the North Korean leader were missing from Trump’s presidential archives.

Deadly shooting at Hamburg Jehovah's Witness hall

A number of people were killed and injured in a shooting at a Jehovah's Witness meeting hall in Germany's northern Hamburg city late on Thursday.

Police say the gunman acted alone, and is thought to be dead. It is unclear if the attacker is among the six or seven fatalities reported by German media.

As yet, "there is no reliable information on the motive", police say.

The gunman is a former member of the religious community aged between 30 and 40, reports Der Spiegel magazine.

Police say they found a dead person at the scene who they believe may have been the perpetrator and investigations are continuing.

They were called at about 21:15 local time (20:15 GMT) on Thursday, to reports that shots had been fired in the building on Deelböge street, Gross Borstel district, police spokesman Holger Vehren said.

Officers who went in found people who "may have been seriously injured by firearms, some of them fatally", he said.

"The officers also heard a shot from the upper part of the building and went upstairs, where they also found a person. So far we have no indications that any perpetrators fled."

He said police had not yet identified the victims and work at the crime scene continued.

"All we know is that several people have died here, several people have been injured, they have been taken to hospitals," Mr Vehren said.

The reasons behind the shooting were "still completely unclear".

On Friday morning, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz described the shooting as a "brutal act of violence", saying his thoughts were with the victims and their relatives.

In a statement, the Jehovah's Witness community in Germany said it was "deeply saddened by the horrific attack on its members at the Kingdom Hall in Hamburg after a religious service".

Hamburg's Mayor Peter Tschentscher has spoken of his shock and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.

Forensic experts have been working at the scene through the night. They can still be seen in their white suits inside the brightly lit interior of the meeting house.

It is thought people had gathered, possibly for a Bible study, when the shooting began at around 21:00 local time.

Lara Bauch, a 23-year-old student who lives nearby, told the DPA news agency that "there were about four bursts of gunfire - several shots were fired in each burst - with gaps lasting roughly 20 seconds to a minute".

She said that from her window she could see a person frantically running from the ground floor to the first floor. "The man was wearing dark clothing and moving fast," she added.

An alert was sent on the federal warning app, NINAwarn, at about 21:00 local time telling locals that "one or more unknown perpetrators shot at people in a church".

Local residents were told not to leave their homes amid the ongoing police operation.

Footage showed police escorting people out of the meeting hall, some to ambulances.

Definition of HCID

In the UK, a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) is defined according to the following criteria:

- acute infectious disease

- typically has a high case-fatality rate

- may not have effective prophylaxis or treatment

- often difficult to recognise and detect rapidly

- ability to spread in the community and within healthcare settings

- requires an enhanced individual, population and system response to ensure it is managed effectively, efficiently and safely

Classification of HCIDs

HCIDs are further divided into contact and airborne groups:

- contact HCIDs are usually spread by direct contact with an infected patient or infected fluids, tissues and other materials, or by indirect contact with contaminated materials and fomites

- airborne HCIDs are spread by respiratory droplets or aerosol transmission, in addition to contact routes of transmission

There's a nice list of the HCID's that the government categorise as dangerous, probably all patented by biolabs somewhere along the line and the the attached image describing Covid 19.

19th March 2020 was only a few days before the government imposed the first lockdown here.

In light of the information being released that has exposed the likes of Matt Hancock and the way they planned to 'scare the public into submission' etc, it is interesting that the government thought that the overall mortality risk was low from the beginning but kept very quite about it.
