Mike Lawler, a New York Republican previously little known outside his district, is expected to claim victory later Wednesday over one of the country's top Democrats for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, though the race has not yet been officially called in his favor.

A spokesperson for Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney said Maloney conceded the race for New York's 17th District via phone call earlier in the day.

Lawler is expected to make an announcement on the race in Rockland County Wednesday afternoon. Maloney's concession makes him the first head of a congressional campaign committee to lose his own seat since 1992.

Republican Michael Lawler maintained a slender lead over one of the most powerful Democrats in Congress, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, in a race that went to the wire early Wednesday morning.

Just 3,000 votes of the more than 278,000 cast separated the two men, who spent the summer and fall campaigning to represent the 17th Congressional District, which covers much of Westchester and the lower Hudson Valley.

“We are not yet ready to declare victory, but with a few more votes counted, we are poised to make history,” Lawler told supporters, acknowledging the closeness of the race, at his election night party in Rockland County.

“We’ll have to wait a little bit longer for the voters of this district to serve Sean Patrick Maloney the best dish of Chef Boyardee, and I can promise you, it will be served cold,” Lawler chided early Wednesday morning.

A defining moment was when Maloney told constituents to just eat Chef Boyardee to deal with soaring inflation.

It was not immediately clear how many absentee ballots were still on the way back to officials at the local boards of elections. Any ballot postmarked by Election Day is valid in New York State, though it typically takes the Post Office a few days to deliver them to officials.

Records show there were potentially 11,000 absentee ballots still out in Westchester County alone, as of Friday.

His GOP challenger also benefited from $6 million in Republican attacks bludgeoning Maloney. One of the ads involved Maloney being asked whether he’d support the state’s bail reform push during a 2018 debate while was running for state attorney general.

“Absolutely, and I’d make it a top priority,” he replied.

The House GOP’s Congressional Leadership Fund poured millions of dollars into Lawler’s bid to take down Maloney, who as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee was responsible to help elect other Democrats. His ouster from office was a symbolic scalp for Republicans.

Damaging stories about Maloney’s eyebrow-raising hires for his legislative and campaign work did not help his cause.

He used more than $7,000 in taxpayer and donor funds to employ his husband’s personal trainer — leading to calls for an ethics probe.

Over the summer, Maloney also came under fire by ethics experts — including a former Democratic Federal Elections Commission chairwoman — for using congressional and campaign funds to hire Harold Leath as his “body man” and pay for his move from Florida in 2014, The Post first reported.

Leath — who was registered to vote in New York using the address of Maloney and husband Randy Florke’s home — appeared in online photos with the couple’s kids, at events that included their 2014 wedding and swimming in what appeared to be the pool on their estate.

Maloney, a five-term incumbent, also was upended by the Democratic Party’s debacle over redistricting. The courts tossed out the Democrats’ redistricting plan for the House — called the Hochulmander because it was approved by Gov. Kathy Hochul — saying it was illegal partisan gerrymandering.

The new districts that were drawn by a court-ordered special master carved up Maloney’s 18th Congressional District. Maloney then instead ran in the redrawn 17th Congressional District, which included a majority of voters he hadn’t represented before but still included his residence.

The new district includes Lawler’s base in Rockland County.

The current congressman for the 17th Congressional District, Mondaire Jones, decided to run for a House seat encompassing lower Manhattan and brownstone Brooklyn in the 10th district instead of running against Maloney in the redrawn 17th. He lost to Dan Goldman in the primary.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In a race that was more competitive than many predicted, J.D. Vance emerged victorious in a no-love-lost battle that promised to tip the balance of power in the U.S. Senate.

Vance hoped to ride to Washington on a wave of national discontent with Democrats in a state that Trump carried by 8 percentage points twice. Most polls showed Vance and Ryan roughly tied late in the campaign, even as incumbent Republican Gov. Mike DeWine leads his Democratic rival by double digits.

Ryan stressed his working-class roots and cast Vance as an outsider and “extremist” more interested in notching a title than serving Ohioans. The Democrat's blue-collar campaign sometimes sounded like a broadside against his own party.

“We have got to get this country back focused on the stress that working people are under every single day,” he said at a union hall in Niles, where he grew up, peppering his speech with profanities. “I don’t give a s—- who you voted for," he told a room of Democratic activists and union organizers.

Ryan sometimes sounded less like a candidate for Senate than a doomsday prophet warning national Democrats that they are on the precipice of disaster if they abandon the working-class voters who were once the heart of the party’s base.

“We will not be a national party unless we have the working class back on our side and that’s what this election is all about," Ryan said.

After sparking concern within the GOP for largely disappearing from the campaign trail over the summer, Vance crossed the state with conservative firebrands including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. Jr. At events, he talked about being raised by his grandparents as his mother struggled with opioid addiction — a story he turned into the best-selling memoir-turned movie “Hillbilly Elegy.” And he revved up his crowds by lacing into Ryan, painting the congressman as a “complete fraud” who has tried to sell himself as a moderate but votes with President Joe Biden — a theme Republicans have hit hard in ads.

“My message is pretty clear: Tim Ryan has been in office for 20 years, ladies and gentlemen, he’s had his chance. Let’s send him back to Youngstown and force him to get a real job,” Vance said at a campaign stop in October.

Trump's decision to endorse Vance, despite years of Vance's criticism, helped the novice candidate seal the nomination in a competitive GOP primary. That turned him into one of Trump’s earliest success stories, helping the defeated president cement his status as a GOP kingmaker. But it also sparked fierce local backlash from supporters of rival candidates, who urged Trump to reconsider.

Herschel Walker, Raphael Warnock head to runoff in Georgia Senate race

The US Senate race in Georgia will be settled in a runoff election next month after neither Sen. Raphael Warnock, the Democratic incumbent, nor Herschel Walker, his Republican challenger, failed to win a majority of the vote in one of the highest-profile contests in the country.

The rematch will take place on Dec. 6.

Walker, the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner for the University of Georgia Bulldogs, trailed Warnock by nearly six percentage points in early October but began to rebound in the middle of the month despite accusations from two former girlfriends that he pressured them to have abortions.

Walker, who has spoken publicly about his opposition to the procedure, denied the accusations.

By Oct. 27, Walker had pulled even with Warnock in the polls and eventually built a two-percentage-point advantage on Nov. 3, statistically deadlocking the race that could determine which party controls the Senate.

Even as Warnock’s camp used the accusations to attack Walker’s fitness to be a senator, national Republicans began trekking to the Peach State to rally with the former football star or take to the airwaves to boost his campaign.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) emerged as one of Walker’s staunchest champions and dismissed the abortion scandal as a political attack, likening the accusations to those leveled at Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his Senate confirmation hearings in 2018.

“We’ve seen this movie before, and we’re not going to put up with it,” Graham told Walker’s supporters in Georgia at the end of October.

Along with Graham, Sens. Rick Scott of Florida and Tom Cotton of Arkansas appeared with Walker at rallies, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee, chaired by Scott, began to pour millions of dollars into the race.

Meanwhile, Warnock’s campaign was boosted by former President Barack Obama, who questioned Walker’s fitness for office at a late-October Atlanta rally.

“Let’s say you’re at the airport​ ​and you see Mr. Walker and you say, ‘Hey, there’s Herschel Walker. Heisman winner. Let’s have him fly the plane.’ You probably wouldn’t say that. You would want to know, does he know how to fly an airplane?”​ Obama asked. ​​

Walker struck back a few days later. ​​

“​​I wouldn’t let him fly the plane either. But I can promise you, if they see me and Barack Obama standing there, they’d probably pick me to fly the plane​,” he said.​

Warnock defeated incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler in a special runoff election on Jan. 5, 2021, becoming the first black senator from Georgia.

His win, coupled with Democrat Jon Ossoff’s victory over ​GOP Sen. David Perdue the same day, gave Democrats control of the Senate, along with the House of Representatives and the White House.

Walker launched his campaign against Warnock in August 2021 after being encouraged by former President Donald Trump to enter the race.

The next month Trump gave his “complete and total endorsement” to Walker. ​

Nevada results to be delayed by Clark County ballot processing

Officials say ballots received in drop boxes or postmarked on Election Day will not be immediately counted.

LAS VEGAS — Clark County elections officials don't expect to process two significant tranches of ballots Tuesday night, increasing the likelihood that the outcome of one of the most closely watched Senate races won't be known before the sun rises on Wednesday.

Ballots left in drop boxes on Election Day and those that arrived by mail Tuesday won't be counted immediately, the secretary of state's office said.

Because of the delay in counting those ballots and because state law allows mailed ballots to arrive days later, Republican and Democratic party officials said they didn't expect to know who has won the Senate and governor's races Tuesday night.

“I absolutely, 100% do not believe we will know the results of this election tonight,” said Bruce Parks, the Washoe County Republican Party chair.

An official with the registrar’s office in Washoe County, the state’s second-largest county and the home of Reno, said officials were trying to process its latest drop box totals and mail-in votes Tuesday evening.

But Clark County was less optimistic.

“Clark is not counting drop boxes tonight, but to be clear, we said all along that we would only have some of the results on Election Night,” secretary of state spokeswoman Jennifer Russell said. “By law, Nevada counties have until Nov. 12 to receive mail ballots.”

Based on previous elections, officials estimated the delay in beginning to process ballots could mean tens of thousands of votes in Nevada’s largest county remain uncounted.

“Senate, governor, constitutional offices and House races more than likely won’t be called tonight,” Clark County Democratic Party Chair Chris Roberts said.

That headline sparked a new leg down in Bitcoin to a $16k handle. FTX Token (FTT) is trading back to the lows. Roughly half a day into the process of reviewing FTX’s internal data and loan commitments has led Binance to strongly lean against completing the transaction, according to a person familiar with the matter. With all eyes on what the most powerful man in crypto, Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, will do next now that Sam Bankman-Fried (or rather Bankrun-Fraud) has been exposed as just another Ponzi-running fraudster (read this thread for details on how FTX did everything it could to delay the inevitable implosion of his trading group Alameda), and how long until his "non-binding" agreement to acquire FTX collapses, Bloomberg reports that in a memo to employees, CZ said that there wasn’t a “master plan” to take over FTX.com and the collapse of the rival crypto exchange “is not good for anyone in the industry” (of course he would say that).

“We did not master plan this or anything related to it… It was less than 24 hrs ago that SBF called me. And before that, I had very little knowledge of the internal state of things at FTX,” Zhao wrote in the memo sent Wednesday, which of course is false since Binance - as an existing major investors - had every insight into what was going on and knew precisely what to do to spark a bank run… which it did. Which is also why CZ hedged: "I could do some mental calculations with our revenues to guess theirs, but it would never be very accurate." In retrospect, they were accurate enough.

Still, knowing that regulators will scrutinize his every decision and comment, CZ continued to plead ignorance: “I was surprised when he wanted to talk. My first reaction was, he wants to do an OTC deal… But here we are.”

Zhao noted that “due diligence for the deal is on-going,” and reminded employees not to trade the FTT token. He also told employees not to comment on the transaction. “Never use a token you created as collateral . . . Don’t borrow if you run a crypto business. Don’t use capital ‘efficiently’. Have a large reserve,” Zhao tweeted. Zhao also said that the proposed - if hardly completed - bailout, which consolidated Binance’s position as the world’s biggest crypto trading venue, was not “a win for us” adding that “user confidence is severely shaken. Regulators will scrutinize exchanges even more. Licenses around the globe will be harder to get."

The message also laid out the speed of the deal he agreed with his counterpart Sam Bankman-Fried to prevent the total collapse of FTX, which had been valued at $32bn earlier this year. The two men shocked the crypto industry when they announced on Tuesday that Binance had agreed to rescue FTX after a surge in customer withdrawals sparked a liquidity crisis after Zhao announced that he was selling a $530 million holding of FTX’s native token. The letter of intent signed is a non-binding agreement. Terms haven’t been disclosed. In the aftermath of FTX’s near collapse, Binance and other larger exchanges have pledged to publish more proof that they hold their customers’ funds in secure reserves that are readily available to meet withdrawals.

Mortgage Applications Decrease in Latest MBA Weekly Survey

Mortgage applications decreased 0.1 percent from one week earlier, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey for the week ending November 4, 2022.

The Market Composite Index, a measure of mortgage loan application volume, decreased 0.1 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis from one week earlier. On an unadjusted basis, the Index decreased 2 percent compared with the previous week. The Refinance Index decreased 4 percent from the previous week and was 87 percent lower than the same week one year ago. The seasonally adjusted Purchase Index increased 1 percent from one week earlier. The unadjusted Purchase Index decreased 1 percent compared with the previous week and was 41 percent lower than the same week one year ago.

“Mortgage rates edged higher last week following news that the Federal Reserve will continue raising short-term rates to combat high inflation. The 30-year fixed rate remained above 7 percent for the third consecutive week, and there were increases for most other loan types,” said Joel Kan, MBA’s Vice President and Deputy Chief Economist. “Purchase applications increased for the first time after six weeks of declines but remained close to 2015 lows, as homebuyers remained sidelined by higher rates and ongoing economic uncertainty. Refinances continued to fall, with the index hitting its lowest level since August 2000 (but still stuck dhere).”

The refinance share of mortgage activity decreased to 28.1 percent of total applications from 28.6 percent the previous week. The adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) share of activity increased to 12.0 percent of total applications.

Suspicious Ballots Arrive Way After Legal Deadline in Detroit

Michigan polls closed at 8:00PM yesterday, election day 2022. The results strongly favoring Democrats shocked the pollsters and prognosticators, who all predicted some degree of a ‘red wave’ that never materialized.

The results directly conflict with the perception by many campaign professionals, pollsters, and those in the media that were predicting strong Republican gains.

But of course nothing was done in response to the 2020 voter fraud well-documented by outlets like the Gateway Pundit. In fact, the Republicans in Michigan even made it easier to cheat by allowing clerks two extra days to ‘process’ ballots, giving potential bad actor clerks more time to cheat. This is in addition to the widespread observations of major problems with voting machines.

The journey of a ballot once cast by a legitimate and legal voter is supposed to be the collection in a poll box, delivery to the clerk who then verifies the voter is a registered, legal voter in the state’s Qualified Voter File, known as the “QVF”, the signature of the voter is checked against the one on file, and the ballot is checked for any defects. City of Detroit whistleblower Jessy Jacob came forward in 2020 to say that there were no ballots that had to be processed after 9;00PM on election night because the process was so quick for the few remaining ballots that came in close to the deadline.

And as mentioned before, clerks have had two whole extra days to count ballots, meaning that there should have been almost none that came in late.

Ballots are counted in a particular order. Absentees are counted first, then those collected on election day by in-person voters, and then any late-arriving ballots. There is little to no reason for ballots to arrive late. There is certainly no legitimate reason short of fraud for tens of thousands of ballots to arrive and start processing hours after the deadline for them to be collected.

The Gateway Pundit has exclusive video and photographic evidence that the City of Detroit in Michigan was collecting thousands of ballots significantly after the legal deadline in 2022. This video is from the Detroit Department of Elections at 2978 West Grand. Ballots are processed there, entering and exiting through the garage in the alley behind the building.

We can exclusively report that the City of Detroit was handling and beginning to process a significant number of ballots at 11:30PM on election night.

Election Irregularities Plague Virginia’s 7th District, Again, as Early Votes Surface for Democrat

Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger trailed all night before thousands of early votes were suddenly counted, putting her in the lead.

Election irregularities are again plaguing Virginia’s battleground 7th District as Democrat Abigail Spanberger, a former CIA agent, has benefited from the sudden tallying of early votes late in the game, tipping the results from red to blue.

After a long pause in vote counting, Democrat incumbent Abigail Spanberger took a reported lead over conservative challenger Yesli Vega in Virginia’s 7th District, thanks to the late counting of thousands of early votes in Prince William County, where Joe Biden’s DOJ sent agents to “monitor” the election.

Spanberger took the lead in the 7th District after trailing all night and losing all but two of the district’s cities or counties and has now declared victory.

The race was one of the nation’s closest watched.

Though conservative challenger Yesli Vega carried the rest of the 7th District by big margins, Spanberger closed the gap in Northern Virginia’s blue Prince William County, Vega’s home base.

Earlier this year, the county’s former elections chief was charged with 2020 fraud and the Biden DOJ announced just ahead of the midterms that they’d be sending agents to the county to “monitor” the election.

Britain’s Sunak Says Ukraine War an Excuse to Push Green Agenda Even Harder

Despite the ongoing energy and cost of living crises facing Europe, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has argued the Ukraine War is an excuse to accelerate his green agenda, rather than backtrack and concentrate on keeping the lights on this winter.

Speaking to the global COP27 climate summit in Egypt, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak rejected suggestions that ongoing economic, security and social problems in Europe to do with the Ukraine War warrant a rethink of his hardline climate ideology, instead saying that the chaos justifies a further acceleration of green agenda efforts instead.

With considerable parts of Europe having largely gotten itself addicted to gas supplied by Moscow as part of efforts to go green, the continent has been plunged into energy insecurity as a result of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

As a result, various European nations, including the United Kingdom, now face the possibility of rolling blackouts this winter as their national grids struggle to fill the hole in their energy budgets left by Russia.

Despite such a dire situation, Sunak told bigwigs gathered in Egypt on Monday that now was a time to double down on climate change ideology, rather than to reverse course.

“Putin’s abhorrent war in Ukraine and rising energy prices across the world are not a reason to go slow on climate change,” he told the conference. “They are a reason to act faster.”

Sunak has also promised international elites that the UK will triple the amount of money it will spend on green energy adaptation, and that his government will continue to pile billions more of taxpayers’ money into green agenda efforts both at home and abroad.

“By honouring the promises we made in Glasgow and by directing public and private finance towards the protection of our planet we can turn our struggle against climate change into a global mission for new jobs and clean growth and we can bequeath our children a greener planet and a more prosperous future,” the Prime Minister said.

While Sunak claims that his spending spree on climate will be able to give “there really is room for hope”, it is highly likely that many in the UK and Europe more broadly would contest this assessment.

With the UK facing the possibility of the longest recession in its history, many struggling to pay for food or heating will likely not be pleased by the government giveaway, especially considering it has been buttressed by Sunak banning fracking in England.

“Sunak’s multi-billion [pound] COP27 giveaway will stick in the throats of Red Wall voters still waiting for “levelling up” money promised in 2019,” former British MEP Martin Daubney remarked, asking how the PM could ever justify spending huge sums of public money “for “clean energy” in the Third World, when working class voters can’t even afford to switch on the heating”.

The suggestion that green agenda policies should proceed regardless of the current chaos will also likely not be well accepted by many in Germany, who have been stuck with rapidly increasing inflation as various enterprises in the country go bust.

With many in the central European state now struggling with fuel and food costs as we enter winter, polling released by Bild has revealed that just under one-third of people in the country say that they will not have the money to buy loved ones Christmas presents this year.
