Russia Claims it Eliminated Former Blackwater Mercs and Azov Fighters in Ukraine

Russian news site Lenta claims Russia has eliminated mercenaries fighting for US Private Military Company (PMC) Academi (former Blackwater) and “Kraken” irregulars attached to the far-right Azov Regiment in the Kherson offensive (Gateway Pundit reported). If true, this may explain why the Ukrainian counteroffensive seems to have stalled.

The strikes were announced by Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, Lenta reported:

“Russian aviation and artillery hit three Ukrainian control points in Kharkiv and Zaporozhye regions, as well as in the city of Seversk, DPR. In addition, the point of control and coordination of Primorye missile strikes in the Nikolaev region and the bases of foreign mercenaries of the American PMC and Kraken fighters in the region of Kramatorsk and Nikolevka were eliminated.

As a result, as noted, 47 artillery units, manpower and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 127 districts were hit. An ammunition depot of the 14th mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also laid out in the Kharkov region – it contained more than 7.5 thousand shells for Western artillery systems. The Ministry of Defense reported that the ammunition depot of the 128th brigade near the village of Dolinka in the Zaporozhye region has also been liquidated.

Earlier it also became known that the Russian military liquidated more than 50 fighters of the Kraken battalion near Kharkov. According to Konashenkov, on Saturday, September 17, during a special operation, more than ten units of special equipment were also destroyed by high-precision strikes of the Aerospace Forces. In addition, two brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were hit – the 92nd mechanized and the 81st airmobile.”

Video shared by Russian “60 Minutes” seemed to show American-speaking mercs operating in the Kherson Offensive.

Referenda in LPR, DPR, and Zaporozhye begin amidst security measures

The voting in the referenda on Russian accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics (DPR and LPR) as well as the Zaporozhye region has begun early on Friday.

The subject of having the referenda promptly was addressed earlier this week by the DPR and LPR public chambers, making official appeals to the rulers of their respective republics on Monday. A day later, the referendum dates were determined, and local legislatures overwhelmingly enacted referendum laws, while elections officials authorized the procedure.

Residents of the Zaporozhye and Kherson areas joined the initiative on Tuesday, after local public organizations submitted identical demands to their authorities. The decree was posted on the Telegram channel of Yegeny Balitsky, the head of the Zaporozhye region's military-civilian administration. The decree of Kherson regional military-civilian administration head Vladimir Saldo also went into force, according to information relayed by the regional administration to TASS.

Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated in a televised address on Wednesday morning that Russia will support the referendum results.

Polling stations will be open for one day only.

On the eve of the vote, the format of the plebiscite was the source of much debate according to TASS. Due to time constraints and technological concerns, it was decided to use traditional paper ballots rather than digital voting. For security considerations, in-person voting will be limited to September 27, with voting arranged in communities and door-to-door on the remaining days.

DPR and LPR residents will be asked if they "support their republic's accession to Russia as a federal subject."

Residents of Zaporozhye and Kherson will be polled to see if they "favor the region's secession from Ukraine, the creation of an independent country, and subsequent accession to Russia as a federal subject."

Ballots will be printed in Russian in the DPR and LPR, where Russian is the only recognized state language. The question will be presented in both Ukrainian and Russian in the Zaporozhye and Kherson areas.

Russia's polling locations

Several residents of Donbass, Zaporozhye, and Kherson were driven to abandon their homes as a result of continued Ukrainian artillery strikes. They will be able to vote in territories other than those mentioned, including Russia, TASS reported.

There will be up to 450 voting booths put up across the DPR, with an additional 200 set up for persons evacuated to Russia.

Residents of the LPR will be able to vote in 461 polling stations located across the republic, as well as in all Russian regions, where a total of 201 polling stations have been established.

Authorities in the Zaporozhye Region announced the installation of 394 voting booths around the region, as well as an additional 58 in Russia, the LPR, the DPR, and the Kherson Region.

Apart from their home area, where eight territorial and 198 district election commissions have been established, inhabitants of the Kherson Region will be able to vote in Crimea and a number of Russian cities, including Moscow.

The Central Election Commission in Kherson anticipates that around 750,000 people will vote. Around 750,000 people are registered to vote in the Zaporozhye Region. DPR has printed around 1.5 million ballots for its citizens.

Transparency and legitimacy

During the referendum, entrances to cities in the Zaporozhye Regions will be controlled, and groups of voting officials going door-to-door will be guarded by police officers. Canine units and bomb squads inspected all polling locations before to the vote, according to Yevgeny Balitsky, Head of the Zaporozhye Region's Military-Civilian Administration.

The voting locations in the Kherson area will be secured by police and the Russian National Guard.

Along with the police, the LPR intends to seek the assistance of the Russian Defense Ministry's personnel in security operations. The DPR authorities stated that Russian troops will support law enforcement and the People's Militia in maintaining polling station security.

Fox News recently reported that five months after a federal jury convicted him, a judge has thrown out three of the four convictions against a University of Kansas researcher, Feng Tao, who carried out work for Fuzhou University in China while he was employed at the University of Kansas and received research funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation.

Tao was convicted as part of the Department of Justice’s “China Initiative” started in 2018 by President Donald Trump to protect U.S. national security from Chinese spying on U.S. intellectual property and in academia.

The Biden regime cancelled the program.

Yet the Feng Tao case is far from an isolated incident.

Chinese scientists working in the U.S., even those who have become U.S. citizens or permanent residents, routinely receive funding from the Chinese government and collaborate with scientists in Communist China, including scientists from the People’s Liberation Army, all while receiving U.S. taxpayer-funded research grants from the National Institutes of Health and other federal government agencies.

Pfizer Won’t Share COVID Vaccines With Independent Researchers.

Why?

Pharmaceutical giants including Pfizer and Moderna are refusing to share data and technology from their COVID-19 vaccines with researchers studying alternative treatments for the virus.

The conflict for researchers who are not affiliated with major pharmaceutical companies that manufactured a COVID-19 vaccine is a result of Pfizer and Moderna owning the patents for the current vaccines. Researchers, therefore, have to receive the companies’ permissions to use the vaccines for research into products like nasal or pan-coronavirus vaccines.

Pfizer and Moderna are refusing to share the data, however. Though the decision to withhold COVID-19 vaccine data and information from researchers is legal, it complicates the ability for progress to be made.

Yale University virologist and immunologist Akiko Iwasaki designed a study of nasal vaccines against COVID-19, which she believes would confer better protection against infection and transmission than shots alone. The most accurate version of the study would have been conducted on subjects that have already received ay initial vaccine series, as this would reflect real-world scenarios.

Despite asking Pfizer about the possibility of obtaining some vaccine to use in her study of nasal treatments, she has not received any from the company.

“In order for us to develop a better vaccine, we need a comparator. For that reason, everyone who’s doing research in this area is in the same boat, we don’t have access to do a comparison,” Iwasaki said.

Iwasaki addressed the issue at the White House’s summit on the future of COVID-19 vaccines, and former National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Francis Collins said at the time that he “would not have thought of that” posing a problem with her research.Separately, California Institute of Technology professor Pamela Bjorkman said her lab has had difficulties obtaining COVID-19 vaccines in order to research ae treatment candidate that could provide protection against a variety of Covid-19 variants.

“Whatever policy prevents using such vials does a great disservice to global efforts to develop new and improved vaccines,” Bjorkman said.

When asked if Pfizer has provided any vaccines for research purposes, spokesperson Sharon Castillo said, “We are not accepting or reviewing applications for possible clinical research that studies the Covid-19 vaccine.” Another Pfizer spokesperson said the company has its own “extensive studies” of the vaccine underway, and will continue to share information from those studies as it becomes available.

Tens of thousands of residents of Kharkov region may become victims of Kiev’s “justice”

The Ukrainian offensive in Kharkov Region, launched earlier this month, led to Russia's armed forces losing control of a number of settlements.

These include the towns of Balakleya, Izium, Kupiansk, Volchansk and a number of villages and small locales. Nevertheless, the Russian army, by concentrating on rearguard battles, was able to avoid significant losses and managed to retreat to the left bank of the Oskol River to regroup.

However, the primary victims of this turn of events were the inhabitants of the aforementioned areas who are now in the hands of Ukraine.

Left behind

There is no exact information about the population of this region. The last census was conducted by Kiev more than 20 years ago, and the country's statistics are known to be wildly inaccurate.

At the outset, we can estimate the pre-war population at 200,000 people. After the outbreak of hostilities, some were forced to flee. The number of refugees depended on the intensity of the fighting. For example, in the Russia-border town of Volchansk, people continued to live normally – they had not heard firing in the city since March – and there has always been humanitarian aid. However,the frontline villages south of Izium were virtually wiped off the face of the earth.

In any case, we are talking about tens of thousands of people. Most likely, at least 100,000 people lived in the Russian-controlled territories. Some of them remain under the protection of the Russian army, which controls the left bank of the Oskol, and villages such as Kupiansk-Uzlovoi and Borovaya, which have now become the sites of intense hostilities.

After the beginning of the Ukrainian offensive, some Kharkov Region residents were forced to leave their homes. An evacuation was carried out in Volchansk, Veliky Burluk, Kupiansk and Izium. Various estimates suggest that between 5,000 and 25,000 people have fled to Russia in September alone.

According to Readovka journalists, Voronezh Region accommodated about a thousand refugees. Another small number left Kharkov and headed to the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, in particular to the nearest district center of Svatovo.

In any case, most local residents have remained in situ. Based on the communication with residents of small Donbass front-line towns that have been shelled for eight years, it is safe to say that such a decision is not politically motivated. Residents of such areas, many of whom are older people, those with disabilities, families with household plots or low-mobility relatives who require care, usually cling to their land, homes and traditional way of life to the end. They are the ones who have not evacuated their homes in recent months, and it is they who are now under threat.

Ukraine is preparing 'mop-ups'

A number of channels have appeared in the Telegram messenger app, one of the leading social media platforms for both sides of the conflict, which publish the personal data of so-called “collaborators.” The basis for accusations could be anything, including communicating with the Russian military or receiving humanitarian aid. Some of these channels are currently blocked, after a wave of complaints to Telegram’s technical support.

Despite this, some remain operational and many dehumanize Russia’s supporters as "zhduny(rus) - waiters." According to the public consensus in Ukraine, such people who sympathize with Moscow are the cause of the conflict. In the eyes of Ukrainian radicals, anyone who expresses a positive attitude towards Russia is a threat to national security.

Thus, personal data in the early days of the offensive was published for one purpose: to point out enemies so that they would be killed during the “sweep” – a set of actions aimed at establishing control over occupied territory undertaken by the army, mercenaries and nationalist battalions. ‘Mopping-up’ is outside the criminal procedure code and is not regulated by any laws. Law may come to the territory later but, in the very first days, “revolutionary justice” is carried out, without lawyers and with the functions of judge, prosecutor and executioner performed by Ukrainian combatants.

To help their murderous cause, similar channels are being created that publish personal data with calls for lynching.

After the ‘cleansing’ is completed, elements of the Ukrainian legal system will come to the captured cities. They will focus on the concealment of war crimes committed during the “clean-up,” and instead point the finger at Russia. The last two tasks will be carried out simultaneously, such as in Bucha, and those killed by Ukrainians will be cynically presented as victims of the Russian army.

Demonstrative detentions

According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), as of last week 16 people suspected of collaborating with Russian authorities had already been detained. The security agents are first and foremost interested in tax officials responsible for the functioning of local businesses during Moscow's control of the territory. However, local teachers who switched to teaching the Russian curriculum are also at risk.

Despite international humanitarian law, which obliges the party in control of a territory to preserve the educational process and emphasizes that no harm be done to educators, Kiev seems determined to punish teachers, to use them as an example to others.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk says that these teachers committed crimes and should be punished for high treason. Such measures by the Ukrainian government are aimed primarily at intimidating educators in Russian-controlled territory. By showing a willingness to prosecute civilian workers, Kiev is raising the stakes.

Ukrainian law enforcement is also known to detain forestry workers, for having helped the Russian army to collect firewood. The details are unknown: whether they supplied the Russians with firewood on a commercial basis, felled the forests entrusted to them, or simply told the soldiers where to chop, remains unknown.

Traditions of Ukrainian 'justice'

Any civilian living in Russian-controlled territory could be charged with collaboration. Ukraine has a special ministry for the reintegration of “temporarily occupied territories,” which since 2016 has been developing a policy of “filtering” the civilian population. Initially, its activity was concentrated around Donbass and Crimea but its scope has now expanded.

The most striking example is the law 'On the State Policy of the Transitional Period', which has been criticized by, among others, the Venice Commission [on constitutional law] for the fact that Ukrainian state policy in the territories it occupies is aimed at investigating only the alleged war crimes of the opposite side, ignoring the goal of establishing the truth about all crimes. This law also introduced differentiated treatment of citizens, depending on their level of interaction with Russia and/or the Donbass republics.

The topic of differentiating guilt – and, according to Ukraine, the entire civilian population is guilty to a greater or lesser degree – was then promoted by all sorts of non-profit organizations.So the Crimean Tatar Resource Center engaged with the Soros Foundation's 'Vozrozhdeniye' and the extremist organization ‘Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people,’ who claim to be the exiled Ukrainian government of Crimea, developed a whole methodology for evaluating the degree of collaboration.

For a demonstration of this scale, Ukrainians cited three respective examples: a doctor at a Crimean city hospital, an acting city council deputy and the ex-chief prosecutor of Crimea, Natalya Poklonskaya.

Preparing the ‘next Bucha’

In addition to fighting teachers and foresters, Ukrainian law enforcement and the media are also busy falsifying war crimes.They open the so-called “cellars” – illegal prisons and torture chambers, in which alleged prisoners of war and civilians were kept. The process of falsification relies on vivid shots – frames with a prayer scratched on the wall of one of the basements.

Another fabrication involved seven Sri Lankan students attending the Kupiansky Medical College, which was allegedly held by Russian military personnel since March, who testified about torture by the Russians.

The official position is simple: angry Russians simply detained and tortured foreigners. That the Russian army in fact evacuated them from Mariupol and Kherson is ignored. For the time being, Sri Lanka's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is asking Kiev to provide more information about its citizens. A fair investigation, however, should not be expected until those Sri Lankans find themselves outside the hands of the Ukrainian state.

Speaking of Kiev’s hand, another media symbol of the “genocide of the Ukrainian people” was presented as hand of the deceased with rubber bracelets in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Apparent evidence of a hate crime: a man killed for wearing Ukrainian symbols. As it turned out, the body was that of Sergey Sova, a member of the 93rd Mechanized Brigade, who was killed during fighting near Izium.

In general, the only mass graves that Ukrainian propaganda now clings to are the cemeteries organized by Russians, where the victims of the military conflict were buried, including Ukrainian soldiers. There is an inscription on one of the crosses, in particular, “APU [Ukrainian Armed Forces] 17 people, Izium, from the morgue.” Ukrainians claim that there are 440 bodies there. Some of the crosses have memorial plaques, some only an inventory number.

The bodies were buried by the Russian army in accordance with the traditions of the region. Perhaps, of course, among those buried under the cross are Muslims, Jews, or adherents to pagan beliefs popular among Ukrainian neo-Nazi battalions, but the Russians did everything possible on their part to ensure the remains of the enemy were not desecrated.

In normal circumstances, these bodies would have been given to the Ukrainian side in return for the bodies of dead Russian soldiers, but Ukraine boycotted these exchanges due to an unwillingness to admit significant losses. In particular, the son of the aforementioned Sergey Sova learned a few months later about the fate of his father and through the media requested the body be transferred back home for a proper burial. Prior to that, Sova had most likely been listed as missing, a ploy that suppresses official numbers of dead Ukrainian soldiers and avoids compensation payments to their families.

Now, however, the Ukrainian soldiers killed in battle and buried in accordance with the dominant religious traditions in Ukraine will be counted as victims of an “alleged genocide.” After a while, when it is impossible to distinguish whether people were killed in early September or mid-September,they will be presented as victims of the retreating Russian army.

All of this is a sinister and cynical story, the truth of which we can learn only after the return of the Russian army to Kharkov. Only then will the massive machine of lies, propaganda and disinformation, which is the work of the Ukrainian government in the occupied territories, be broken, and the world will be able to learn about the real war criminals. As when we discovered after the liberation of Mariupol and the establishment of control over the buildings of Mariupol Airport, that theUkrainian Security Service and Azov turned it into a concentration camp, known as 'The Library.'

Cannibal Mark Latunski admits to eating man named Kevin Bacon

Now he’s sinking his teeth into rotting in prison.

A cannibal from Michigan pleaded guilty to killing and eating part of a man named Kevin Bacon after meeting him on a dating app three years ago, according to a report Friday.

Mark Latunski copped Thursday to murdering and mutilating the 25-year-old hairdresser, whom he lured to his home in Bennington Township in December 2019, according to Mlive.com

Latunski, 53, admitted to stabbing Bacon in the back, then removing parts of his body before taking them to the kitchen and chowing down on them, according to the outlet.

Latunski reportedly told cops he cut off Bacon’s testicles and ate them after meeting him on Grindr, a hookup app for gay, bisexual and trans men.

He faces a possible life sentence.

After the hard-to-stomach killing, Bacon’s corpse was found hanging from the rafters of Latunski’s basement with rope tied around his ankles, his throat slit and body parts removed, according to the outlet.

Latunski, of Swartz Creek, had previously pleaded not guilty with an insanity defense — and the dramatic reversal came less than a month before his trial was scheduled to begin on Oct. 18.

The guilty plea came against the recommendation of Latunski’s attorney, Mary Chartier, who has said he has a history of mental illness, the outlet reported.

Investigators later found his car in a Dollar General store parking lot, then tracked him to Latunski’s house on Dec. 28, 2019.

A court hearing on Oct. 18 will determine whether Latunski is convicted of first- or second-degree murder, or manslaughter.

A satanic group convinced a southeastern Pennsylvania school district to drop its dress code rule banning clothing with satanic or cultic references, PhillyVoice reported.

What are the details?

The Garnet Valley School District in Delaware County got rid of the rule at the beginning of the school year after Satanic Delco waged a months-long campaign, the outlet said.

The group posted on Instagram about its victory earlier this month:

Satanic Delco noted in its post that prior to dropping the ban, Garnet Valley "didn’t want to change the policy because they feared the backlash and bad press they would receive for caving to a group of Satanists. I’m happy to report that they have in fact caved."

The group added that "Garnet Valley students are now free to express their Satanism on equal footing, alongside their fellow students of every other religion" and ended the post with a hearty "HAIL SATAN!" exclamation in all capital letters.

Philly Voice said the school district did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Satanic Delco also noted in the post that last year it "succeeded in forcing a change to the discriminatory dress code in the Rose Tree Media School District. As documented in the original news report, the next target for such a change was the Garnet Valley school district."

German Health Ministry Published Inflated COVID Hospitalisation Numbers in ‘Fact Booster’ Campaign

The German health ministry has issued a correction after it published inflated numbers on COVID-19 hospitalisations as part of its “fact booster” awareness campaign.

Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health has issued a correction after it published an inflated percentage in relation to the number of COVID-19 cases that result in hospitalisations.

The ministry has said that the “misleading” information was published due to an “editorial error”, a particularly embarrassing admission considering the body’s minister, Karl Lauterbach, has recently been challenged on his citation of COVID death statistics in the context of justifying ongoing German lockdown rules.

According to a report by Der Spiegel, the German Ministry of Health took out a number of advertisements in newspapers and online as part of a campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of COVID-19.

However, one advertisement published both physically and online as part of this “Fact Booster” awareness campaign reportedly claimed that around 10 per cent of COVID cases result in hospitalisation, a statistic that the ministry has since admitted is incorrect.

Instead, the German federal body claims, the advertisement should have said that up to 10 per cent of cases can result in hospitalisation.

What’s more, the ministry reportedly admitted that the numbers right now are “significantly lower”, with the body saying that the real figure for hospitalisations is somewhere between four and five per cent of cases.

Der Spiegel reports that the Federal Ministry for Health has now corrected the campaign.

While embarrassing enough on its own, the apparent error by the body is made only worse by the fact that the German health minister, Karl Lauterbach, has recently been accused of making misleading claims in relation to national COVID statistics to justify his own draconian lockdown regime.

With the country being one of the few remaining nations in Europe to still have various measures — including the likes of mask mandates — in place, the left-wing politician has seemingly been keen to justify his actions, arguing on social media that the country would be “sitting like a rabbit in front of a snake” without them.

CDC Expects Omicron COVID-19 Boosters for Children by Mid-October

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expects COVID-19 vaccine boosters targeting circulating variants of the virus to be available for children aged 5-11 years by mid-October.

The CDC said in a document released on Tuesday that it expects to make a recommendation in early- to mid-October on the use of the new bivalent vaccines in the group, if they are authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The vaccines, which target both the original version and the currently circulating variants of the virus, were rolled out for people 12 years or older earlier this month.

The CDC said it expects Pfizer-BioNTech’s bivalent vaccine to be available for children aged 5–11 years, and Moderna’s vaccine for those aged 6–17 years, pending FDA authorization.

The Pfizer vaccine is already authorized as a booster dose for children over 12 years of age, while Moderna’s bivalent vaccine is authorized for adults.

The CDC expects pre-orders for the Pfizer shot to begin for the age group next week. The Moderna vaccine will have the same formulation for children and adults and will not require a separate pre-order period, the CDC said.

The United States government has ordered more than 170 million updated vaccine booster shots for this fall, and said on Tuesday it had sent out over 25 million doses.

'Historic levels of fraud': US government admits scam artists stole $45.6 billion in pandemic unemployment benefits, feds say dead people exploited

A federal watchdog estimates that fraudsters stole $45.6 billion in unemployment benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic. The historic level of fraud is triple the amount that the U.S. government previously estimated. Some of the scam artists exploited dead people to file illegitimate unemployment claims, while others were fraud schemes carried out by street gangs.

In June 2021, the inspector general for the U.S. Labor Department "identified more than $16 billion in potentially fraudulent unemployment insurance (UI) pandemic benefits paid in four specific high-risk areas" since March 2020. On Thursday, the inspector general for the Department of Labor revealed that an additional $29.6 billion in fraudulent unemployment benefits were paid during the pandemic.

The inspector general listed the high-risk areas as multistate claims, suspicious emails, federal prisoners, and deceased persons. Of the $45.6 billion in fraudulent pandemic unemployment benefits, nearly $29 billion was from multistate claims, over $16 billion from suspicious emails, $267 million stolen by federal prisoners, and nearly $140 million taken by people posing as dead people.

"We determined 205,766 Social Security numbers of deceased persons were used to file claims for UI pandemic benefits," the report stated.

More than 1.7 million Social Security numbers were associated with suspicious email accounts that were suspected of stealing $16.2 billion in unemployment benefits during the pandemic.

In the five months after March 2020, over 57 million people filed claims with the unemployment insurance program.

"As the DOL-OIG reported, states struggled to handle the substantial increase in the volume of UI claims and to determine that benefits were paid to the right person in the correct amount," said the Department of Labor's Office of Inspector General.

From March 2020 until July 2021, U.S. federal and state governments paid out roughly $794 billion in unemployment benefits, according to the Department of Labor.

The DOL-OIG stated that it is focusing on "large-scale identity theft schemes involving multiple victims and organized criminal groups, including street gangs."

In one case, 11 members of a gang were charged with allegedly obtaining $4.3 million in fraudulent unemployment benefits. The gang members are suspected of using the identification of "more than 800 victims to submit nearly 1,000 claims for UI benefits."

Investigations by the DOL-OIG resulted in more than 1,000 people being charged with unemployment insurance fraud since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This milestone of 1,000 individuals being charged with crimes involving UI fraud and the identification of $45.6 billion in potentially fraudulent UI payments highlights the magnitude of this problem," inspector general Larry D. Turner said in a statement released on Thursday. "Hundreds of billions in pandemic funds attracted fraudsters seeking to exploit the UI program—resulting in historic levels of fraud and other improper payments."

Since the pandemic began, there have only been 400 convictions of unemployment insurance fraud.

Republican Co-Chair Of Dr. Oz Campaign Spotted Attending ‘Big-Dollar’ Fundraiser For Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate: Report

Jeff Bartos, who co-chairs the Senate campaign for Pennsylvania Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz, was seen on Wednesday at a fundraiser for Pennsylvania Democratic Attorney General and gubernatorial nominee Josh Shapiro, according to Politico.

Politico reported that Sheryl Bartos, the wife of Jeff Bartos, was a co-host for the “big-dollar Philadelphia fundraiser.” Jeff Bartos unsuccessfully ran for Pennsylvania lieutenant governor in 2018 and lost to Oz in the 2022 race for the Republican Senate nomination.

Politico said that the Bartos and Shapiro families, both of which are Jewish, have been longtime friends, and a subsequent report noted that Jeff Bartos was spotted at the fundraiser. A person familiar with Bartos’ thinking told the outlet that “he was proud to support his wife and was there at her request to accompany her.”

Oz, who is running against Pennsylvania Lt. Governor and Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman, was among the most polarizing candidates for the Republican Senate nomination. Roughly 48% of voters maintained a “somewhat or strongly unfavorable opinion” of the candidate during the primary contest, according to a poll from Emerson College. Oz raised eyebrows last year following an interview in which he claimed to be “pro-life” with the exception of rape, incest, and “health for the mother.”

State Sen. Doug Mastriano, the Republican gubernatorial candidate, is likewise controversial. Though he appears to be more popular with conservatives, he has faced accusations of denying the 2020 election results.

A recent survey from Morning Call and Muhlenberg College found that Oz trails Fetterman by 5%, while Shapiro leads Mastriano by 11%. In another poll from CBS News and YouGov, Fetterman was supported by 52% of respondents, while Oz was backed by 47%. Voters also indicated a higher degree of favorability for the former candidate — 56% of Fetterman supporters said they are pulling the lever for him “mainly because” they like him, while only 15% of Oz voters said the same about their preferred candidate.

Democrats are hoping that Fetterman will add to a majority in the evenly divided Senate. However, Fetterman suffered a stroke days before the commonwealth’s primary election and has since stumbled and lost his train of thought during speeches at multiple campaign events. Roughly 41% of voters believe that Fetterman is not in “good enough health” to serve in office.

Meanwhile, the Fetterman campaign has repeatedly criticized Oz for his longtime residence in New Jersey. Only 33% of voters believe that Oz has been in Pennsylvania “long enough to understand the state’s issues.” While 71% of poll respondents said that they would have preferred “someone different” to headline the Republican ticket, 51% said the same about the Democratic ticket.

Due to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the Keystone State — which has a Republican-led legislature — is likely to debate legislation related to abortion after the midterms. Mastriano is the author of the state’s heartbeat bill, which regulates abortion such that the procedure is not permitted to occur “after fetal heartbeat is detected” rather than the current limit of 24 weeks gestation.

"If folks are at the very beginning of this process, if they're just starting to think about gender, if you have an 8-year-old who's sort of beginning to express these give us a call."

Hospitals across the country have created gender clinics to facilitate gender transition for both minors and adults. While many have been exposed, many more are operating the same kinds of clinics, giving children puberty blockers to stunt their natural development, and pushing harmful cross-sex hormones and surgeries on minors.

One of these is Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester, New York, which offers a promotional video for gender transition, featuring a mother who transitioned her child, as well as providers who claim that trans children know they are in the wrong body for "their whole lives."

The hospital notes that it "has services available to aid families, youth, and young adults who identify as transgender, gender fluid, or have other questions or concerns about their gender." The hospital site states that "Children are first aware of their own gender at around age 2, and transgender children may insist that they are of the opposite gender and desire toys and clothing that are typically assigned to the opposite gender."

Golisano admits that normal life transitions, such as puberty, or leaving home for college, can trigger feelings of "dysphoria" and not belonging, but instead of noting that it is perfectly normal to feel anxious and confused around transitions, they say it's perfectly normal to feel suddenly like your body is not your own and you need drugs and surgeries to ease your anxiety at growing up.

"It is not unusual for older adolescents and young adults to express these thoughts or feelings for the first time," the hospital notes. "The onset of puberty can be particularly difficult for those whose sense of self does not match their developing body, or they may have been grappling with these feelings for years without being able to express them. We often see young adults as they start college or undergo other transitions since this may be the first time they have had access to medical care for transition."

The video encourgages parents to transition their children as early as 8-years-old, though the video has recently been made private on their site.

"When he started female puberty, it just didn't fit who he was," said Brae Adams, identified as the mother and a pastor at Open Arms Metro Community Church, speaking in glowing terms about Golisano and her child's transition. "He didn't want to wear the things that girls wear, he didn't want to wear. The underwear that girls wear."

Adams is no longer a lay pastor at Open Arms, but Facebook posts show that Adams was the pastor there in 2018, where she delivered sermons about her experiences with coming out. She is now at the United Congregational Church of Rochester, where her bio states that she has had a lifelong interest in LGBTQ+ issues.

"While a sophomore at Mississippi State University," her bio reads, "and working as an intern for the Women and Gender Studies department, she helped design and implement the school’s first Gay Straight Alliance to combat the increased risk of vandalism of their dorm rooms, assaults and discrimination that LGBT folks were experiencing at the time on campus. This began her lifelong interest in issues of equality and non-discrimination."

Dr. Katherine Greenberg jumps in on the promotional video to explain "gender dysphoria," saying that it "is the experience that people have where the sex they were assigned at birth, their sort of biological sex is different from their sense of self or their gender identity." She is also a professor who instructs medical students how to hide information on adolescent health from their parents. Greenberg has also spoken out against Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill.

Greenberg, who lists her pronouns as "she/her/hers" is listed in the video as the director of gender health services at Golisano. Her specialties are in "adolescent reproductive health" and she "directs the GCH program serving transgender and gender diverse youth." She is also the "Vice Chair for Inclusive Culture in the Department of Pediatrics, and interim Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion in the School of Medicine and Dentistry."

Her primary areas of research are "adolescent sexual and reproductive health, supporting transgender and gender diverse youth, and inclusive climate in academic medicine."

"This is kind of the thing that people have really missed about Fauci," Rindsberg said. "We've all come to think of him as a great public health expert — the top public health official in America. He is not that. He's definitely not that.

"He is in fact, a biodefense national security official at the very top of that command structure. And this is something we all should have known about two, three years ago and not just today."

Fauci is the highest paid employee in the federal government, outearning senators, the president, and Supreme Court justices.

"His salary roughly doubled that of his own (nominal) boss, until recently, NIH director Francis Collins," Rindsberg wrote in an article at UnHerd.com titled "How Dick Cheney created Anthony Fauci." "Fauci's giant pay packet can be traced back to 2004, the year after NIAID was made the country's top biodefence authority agency."

It was then that Fauci became more than just another director of a public health agency.

"This salary jump was only a by-product of the radical restructuring of America's biodefence apparatus," Rindsberg wrote. "The much more significant outcome was that Fauci was essentially placed at the top of a new chain of command over which he gained nearly total decision-making ability. He went from being the director of one the NIH's constituent 27 institutes to being the only one who really mattered."

Rindsberg was also critical of the mainstream media and said one of the main problems with it is that many major outlets chose to write from a single narrative and base their writings off of the narrative.

"A lot of this has to do with the media's allegiance and alliances with forces and elements in government," Rindsberg concluded. "They take the government message — part of the government not the whole government — and certain parties of government and drive it home at all cost, no matter what."

San Francisco passes controversial surveillance plan

In a 7-4 vote on Tuesday, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors agreed to test Mayor London Breed's controversial plan to overhaul the city's surveillance practices, which will allow police to access private security cameras in real time.

Supervisors Catherine Stefani, Aaron Peskin, Gordon Mar, Matt Dorsey, Myrna Melgar, Rafael Mandelman and Ahsha Safaí voted to approve the trial run, while Connie Chan, Dean Preston, Hillary Ronen and Shamann Walton voted in dissent.

“I know the thought process is, ‘Just trust us, just trust the police department.’ But the reality is people have been violating civil liberties since my ancestors were brought here from an entirely, completely different continent,” Walton — the board president and District 10 representative — said.

Under the new policy, police can access up to 24 hours of live video of outdoor footage from private surveillance cameras owned by individuals or businesses without a warrant as long as the camera's owner allows it. Police must meet one of three outlined criteria to use their newfound power: they must be responding to a life-threatening emergency, deciding how to deploy officers in response to a large public event or conducting a criminal investigation that was approved in writing by a captain or higher-ranking police official.

The trial will last 15 months. If supervisors wish to extend or revise the policy, they must take a second vote.

Breed first proposed an overhaul of the city's surveillance practices late last year as a way to crack down on retail theft, rioting, looting and drug-dealing. The plan initially received blowback from Peskin and others, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the Bar Association of San Francisco, who feared the policy would be abused by police. Peskin, along with other members of the Board of Supervisors, introduced a competing proposal that, along with Breed's, would have appeared on the June 7 primary ballot.

In March, however, Breed and Peskin both pulled their proposals and sought to reach a compromise. In May, they announced agreement on an updated plan, which contains new safeguards including rules for how long the cameras can be used, data retention and regular reporting requirements.

The new policy is supported by San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, who replaced former DA Chesa Boudin after he was recalled in a special election in June. Shortly after Jenkins took office, she wrote a letter to Peskin —the chairman of the Board of Supervisors Rules Committee — informing him that she would back the new surveillance practices.

"I believe this policy can help address the existence of open-air drug markets fueling the sale of the deadly drug fentanyl," Jenkins wrote. "Drug dealers are destroying people's lives and wreaking havoc on neighborhoods like the Tenderloin. Mass organized retail theft, like we saw in Union Square last year, or targeted neighborhood efforts like we've seen in Chinatown is another area where the proposed policy can help."

CIA launches a podcast, hoping to ‘demystify’ the agency and boost recruitment

There is no shortage of podcasts out there exploring the mechanics of espionage, celebrating fictionalized spies and detailing the real-world exploits of the country’s premiere intelligence agency. But only one, as of today, is officially unclassified.

The CIA launched ‘The Langley Files’ podcast on Thursday, attempting to step out from its own shadows to share stories from the agency’s 75-year history — and provide a little insight into what it takes to work there.

The goal of the podcast, according to a CIA spokesperson, is to provide a bit more transparency into an agency premised on secrecy.

‘“The Langley Files’ is a major milestone for CIA as the agency marks its 75th anniversary,” said CIA press secretary Susan Miller. “It is the latest in CIA’s ongoing efforts to be as open as possible with the public, sharing what we can about our mission, people, and history.”

And in telling stories on the history of the CIA — featuring senior CIA officials, agency historians and CIA museum experts as guests — the agency hopes to attract new interest from a young generation of potential recruits.

“We want to reach a wider and more diverse audience than ever before, so that people who might not have thought of joining CIA — or might not have known that there could be a place for their talents here — consider CIA in their career plans,” a CIA spokesperson said.

“The podcast supports the agency’s efforts to connect with talent from all backgrounds and walks of life,” the spokesperson continued. “To be successful in its national security mission, CIA needs to build the diverse, skilled workforce of tomorrow, and we hope ‘The Langley Files’ can serve as a way to reach those candidates.”

The podcast will be hosted by two agency officers, exploring new topics with special guests in each episode.

Its first guest is CIA Director Bill Burns.

“In our democracy, where trust in institutions is in such short supply,” Burns said on the podcast’s first episode, “it’s important to try to explain ourselves as best we can, and to demystify a little bit of what we do.”

Burns and the podcast’s hosts had some fun at the expense of Hollywood’s depictions of spies, noting their work “doesn’t always involve fast cars and solo heroics.”

“I should start by saying that I love spy movies,” Burns said. “But one big misconception that a lot of those really entertaining movies feed is that intelligence in real life is just a glamorous world of solo operators in the world of James Bond and Jason Bourne and Jack Ryan. A world of heroic individuals who drive fast cars and defuse bombs and solve world crises all on their own every day.”

“The truth is that intelligence is very much a team sport,” he added.

Burns described the agency’s warnings over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine among its greatest recent successes, as well as the intelligence operation that led to the successful strike against al-Qaida’s co-founder, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

But new challenges, driven by great power competition with China, are driving the agency to adapt its mission set and recruitment strategies, Burns said.
