Fauci assesses chances of more Covid lockdowns

The head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has warned a new strain of Covid could lead to a rise in case numbers

Americans may be in for yet more lockdowns – that’s the stark warning from Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which he made on Thursday. The official cited a new Covid strain which could potentially increase the number of cases.

In an interview with CNN, Fauci said that the highly contagious BA.2 Omicron subvariant, also known as ‘Stealth’ Omicron, could soon lead to a spike in the number of infections in America. The NIAID head advised US citizens to be prepared to “pivot” back and forth between normal life and Covid restrictions varying in severity depending on how grave the situation was.

Fauci emphasized that Americans could not “just say: We’re done. We’re going to move on.” He noted that it was important to “be flexible because we’re dealing with a dynamic situation.”

On a more positive note, though,if the NIAID chief is to be believed, the new strain is less fatal than ‘regular’ Omicron, with the overall mortality now “actually down.” Fauci described the current situation as “very interesting” since the “cases are going up, but it does not, at this point in time, appear to be any degree of severity.”

However, given the rate with which the new strain is spreading, as well as the fact that America has “begun to open up,” Fauci said that he “would not be surprised in the next few weeks” if the country saw an “increase in cases.”

Since the start of March, there has been a rise in Covid infections in the UK, with some experts suspecting that Stealth Omicron could be the driving force behind the uptick. In mainland Europe, countries such as Germany, Austria and the Netherlands have also seen a surge in Covid cases, though authorities there have so far stopped short of reintroducing tough restrictions.

Meanwhile, in China, the government on Tuesday introduced lockdowns in several cities, affecting a total population of over 50 million residents.

Aid convoys struggling to reach ‘encircled’ Ukrainian cities, UN claims

Blocking cities is “unacceptable in the 21st century,” an official with the World Food Programme has said

Aid agencies are struggling to reach civilians in Ukrainian cities blocked by the Russian military, Jakob Kern, an emergency coordinator with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said on Saturday.

“The challenge is to get to the cities that are encircled or about to be encircled,” Kern told the news agency AFP, describing the humanitarian situation on the ground as “dire.”

Ukraine’s food supply chain has effectively been broken amid the ongoing conflict, he said, with the WFP having to stock its warehouses “from zero.” He condemned what he described as Russia’s tactic of blocking cities, stating that it was “unacceptable in the 21st century.”

“The closer you go to these cities, the more worried [truck drivers] are about their safety,” Kern said. “And that means we’re not able to reach people in Mariupol, Sumy, Kharkiv… in the cities that are almost encircled by now – or completely, in the case of Mariupol.”

While Moscow and Kiev have agreed on efforts to organize humanitarian corridors out of those cities turned into combat zones, each side continues to accuse the other of targeting civilians and failing to uphold evacuees’ right of safe passage. Moscow said Kiev had refused to open routes for those seeking refuge in Russia or Russian-controlled territories…

Colin Powell and the “The Sloppy Dossier”: Plagiarism and “Fake Intelligence” Used to Justify the 2003 War on Iraq: Copied and Pasted from the Internet into an “Official” British Intel Report

Colin Powell’s “intelligence report” presented to the UN Security Council in early February 2003 was FABRICATED. It was copied and pasted from the internet by members of Tony Blair’s staff.

While the Chilcot Inquiry report was released in 2016, it is worth noting that most of the dodgy dossier evidence pertaining to Tony Blair and George W, Bush was available before the onset of the Iraq war in March 2003.

Fake intelligence as well as plagiarized quotations had been slipped into an official intelligence report pertaining to Iraq’s WMD presented to the UN Security Council by Secretary of State Colin Powell on February 5, 2003.

Damning evidence refuting Colin Powell’s official intelligence report was revealed by Cambridge Lecturer Dr. Glen Rangwala (image right) on Britain’s Channel 4 TV on February 6, 2003, on the day following Secretary of State Colin Powell’s historic Iraq WMD presentation to the UN Security Council:

“I would call my colleagues’ attention to the fine paper that the United Kingdom distributed . . . which describes in exquisite detail Iraqi deception activities.” (Colin Powell, UN Security Council, February 5, 2003)

Powell was referring to “Iraq Its Infrastructure Of Concealment, Deception And Intimidation”, published on January 30, 2003.

According to Rangwala, the British intelligence document was fake. It had not been prepared by British intelligence. It was copied and pasted from the internet by members of Tony Blair’s staff:

The Downing Street authors state they drew “upon a number of sources, including intelligence material” (p.1, first sentence). In fact, they copied material from at least three different authors and gave no credit to them. Indeed, they plagiarized, directly cutting and pasting or near quoting.

A close textual analysis suggests that the UK authors had little access to first-hand intelligence sources and instead based their work on academic papers, which they selectively distorted. Some of the papers used were considerably out of date. This leads the reader to wonder about the reliability and veracity of the Downing Street document.

It was a fake document prepared on the instructions of prime minister Blair with a view to building a “credible” justification to wage war on Iraq.

Rangwala’s analysis was more than a smoking gun. It revealed the Big Lie. It invalidated Colin’s Powell’s presentation to the UN Security Council. It had to be suppressed.

In many regards, the Rangwala revelation was far more important than the leak of the Secret July 2002 Downing Street Memo:

South Carolina Ready to Use Firing Squads for Executions

South Carolina’s Department of Corrections told the state Attorney General’s office on Friday that a firing squad execution chamber is now ready for use.

Last year, the state made the electric chair their primary method for carrying out the death penalty, but would give inmates an option to choose death by firing squad or lethal injection instead — if the options were available.

However, due to a shortage of the drugs used for lethal injections, that option has not been available to the 35 inmates facing execution in the state.

Now, a firing squad chamber has been completed in the Capital Punishment Facility at Broad River Correctional Institute in Columbia.

“The South Carolina Department of Corrections spent about $53,600 to establish a firing squad and renovate its execution facility, according to Department of Corrections spokesperson Chrysti Shain. That includes a number of rifles — exactly how many was redacted in a response to a records request by The Greenville News — and it includes renovations to the capital-punishment facility, stainless steel sheeting, ammunition and ballistic partitions, according to invoices obtained through the Freedom of Information Act,” the Greenville News reports.

The state’s Supreme Court will now have to approve the way in which the firing squad takes place.

“The chamber now includes a chair where inmates can sit if they choose execution by firing squad. The metal chair with restraints is surrounded by protective equipment in a corner of the room away from the nearly 110-year-old electric chair, which cannot be moved,” the Greenville News report explains. “The firing-squad chair faces a wall with a rectangular opening 15 feet away. The squad’s rifles and the open portal will not be visible from the execution chamber’s witness room.”

Unlike electric chair executions, the inmate will not face witnesses. Instead, they will have a side-profile view.

“The inmate will be strapped into the chair, and a hood will be placed over their head. A small aim point will be placed over their heart, and after the warden reads the execution order, the firing squad will fire,” the report continues. “After the shots, a doctor will examine the inmate. Once the inmate is declared dead, the curtain will be drawn and witnesses escorted out.”

Utah is currently the only state to use a firing squad in the last four decades.

The Greenville News noted, “unlike Utah, which uses a five-member firing squad, South Carolina will have three law-enforcement officers in its firing squad, and all three will have live rounds, while in Utah at least one rifle fires non-lethal bullets.”

The shooters will be volunteers who meet certain qualifications.

When we wrote about the media effort in 2018 {Go Deep}, specifically the collusion between the intelligence and national security agencies of the United States government, I asked the question, “Do we really think such a catastrophic level of corrupted journalism could reconstitute into genuine reporting of fact-based information?” Then answer then, as now, is the same, NO. Indeed, it has only gotten worse in the past four years.

For the past several days I have been highlighting a simple question on social media about something missing in the Ukraine story.

Where are the social media posts from Ukraine citizens that would support the narrative as it is being told by Western media about events happening in Ukraine? Seemingly, Ukraine is the only conflict in modern human history, where a pop culture society of more than 30 million technologically connected people decided not to document every moment of it on social media.

Considering the scale and scope of the conflict; and considering the Ukraine population of more than 30 million is far larger than Canada; and consider that population is located in a country the size of Texas; and considering they are a western technologically connected society with tens of millions of cell phones; we should be seeing a great deal of footage, pictures and images from ordinary Ukranian citizens. However, we don’t. Why?

I’m not talking about the professional war social media accounts, and/or military-centric accounts, which, to be fair do have lots of images and footage of Russian and Ukrainian conflicts. I’m talking about the ordinary man/woman in the major population centers, who under normal circumstances would be generating tens-of-thousands of social media posts to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube, etc.

Western media are telling us that Russia is randomly shelling, bombing and targeting all of these civilian targets in urban areas. Yet there’s nothing visible. Almost everything you see is from Eastern Ukraine where a civil war has been ongoing for over a decade.

Whatever is happening in the rest of Ukraine is the least documented conflict in modern social media. It just seems odd. It’s as if there is a massive disconnect between the portrayal of western media, in comparison to the actual reality inside Ukraine.

During the NCAA women's basketball tournament on Friday, ESPN sports announcers interrupted the broadcast on two different occasions to protest Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill and other bills like it across the country.

Background on Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill

The Parental Rights in Education bill prohibits Florida school employees from engage in classroom discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity grades kindergarten through third grade. Florida HB 1557 has been inaccurately dubbed as the "Don't Say Gay" bill by Democrats, legacy media, and LGBTQ activists.

Some Disney employees were outraged by the bill protecting young children against sexual discussions that are not age-appropriate.

Some Disney employees have reportedly been organizing 15-minute daily walkouts and "sickouts," according to the Guardian. Disney workers will allegedly stage a full-day walkout on March 22.

The small faction of displeased workers put pressure on Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek to take action.

During a conversation with shareholders earlier this month, Chapek said Disney executives were "opposed to the bill from the outset" but chose to work "behind the scenes" with Florida lawmakers to address their concerns and "disappointment."

Florida's governor defends the bill

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis responded with a statement, "Governor DeSantis has always been open to hearing from Floridians and having conversations about legislation — as long as those discussions are grounded in facts, not false media narratives."

"Anyone who has questions or concerns about the Parental Rights in Education bill is encouraged to read the bill, rather than the distorted coverage in the mainstream media, which regurgitates false partisan talking points," the statement declared.

"Disney is a family-friendly company that creates wholesome entertainment for kids," DeSantis said. "The same Florida parents who take their families to Disney also support parental rights in education, because they do not want their young children exposed to inappropriate content about sex and gender theory at school."

During a campaign stop in Boca Raton earlier this month, DeSantis proclaimed, "In the state of Florida, we are not going to allow them to inject transgenderism into kindergarten."

ESPN announcers protest bill with a moment of silence

Disney is the parent company of ESPN. In solidarity with the Disney employees protesting, three ESPN announcers interrupted the broadcast of the NCAA women's basketball tournament to hold a moment of silence to protest the Parental Rights in Education bill.

During the broadcast of the tournament matchup between South Carolina and Howard University, ESPN announcers Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck protested the legislation with a two-minute moment of silence to start the second half.

"There are things bigger than basketball that need to be addressed at this time," Lyle said after halftime. "Our friends, our family, our coworkers, the players, and coaches in this community are hurting right now. At 3 o'clock, about eight minutes ago, our LGBTQIA+ teammates at Disney asked for our solidarity and support, including our company's support in opposition to the Parental Rights in Education bill in the state of Florida and similar legislature across the United States.

“A threat to any human rights is a threat to all human rights," Peck said, before telling the basketball audience they would be taking a "pause" during the broadcast to "show our love and support for our friends, our families, and our colleagues."

California Legislators Introduce Abortion Tourism Bill

Under a new law proposed by California legislators, state funds could be spent to help low-income California residents obtain abortions. But, perhaps more significantly, the fund would be available to help out-of-state residents obtain abortions as well.

In other words, California is looking to boost its abortion tourism, because, well, it’s California, and you’d expect nothing less of the far-left state.

On Thursday, Sens. Nancy Skinner and Anna Caballero introduced Senate Bill 1142, which would establish a fund (composed of state and private money) for the sole purpose of providing grant money to nonprofits that assist low-income pregnant women with access to abortion services.

The state portion of the fund would be established by the California legislature.

The bill is a response to multiple states passing laws limiting abortions to before a fetal heartbeat is detected. The Supreme Court is also on the verge of ruling on a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

“The U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority seems poised to do the unthinkable. If the court overturns 50 years of settled law and takes away a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, California will not stand idly by,” Skinner said in a statement. “With SB 1142, California sends a clear message to the rest of the nation: We are fully committed to ensuring that California women and those who may seek refuge here have access to all reproductive services, including abortion.”

Make no mistake about it. This bill, if passed, would essentially establish California as an abortion tourism state. And, let’s be honest, there’s no reason to believe that this bill won’t be passed and signed into law. This is California, and they’ve passed quite a few laws in recent years that normal people consider to be insane.

Perhaps they’ll advertise California as the nation’s go-to free abortion state, with billboards and everything advertising how you can come on over and visit Disneyland and Universal Studios while you wait for your free abortion.

Parts of Spanish Economy Grind to a Halt After Five-Day Nationwide Truckers’ Strike

Like the Trudeau government, Pedro Sánchez’s ruling coalition blames the truckers’ strike on far-right elements while blaming Putin for record-high gas prices and decades-high inflation in Spain.

Spain’s already struggling economy is in a bind after an indefinite strike by truck drivers has brought a number of key industries to a halt. Called by the Platform for the Defense of Road Transport of Merchandise, the strike began on Monday and is being followed by an estimated 85% of smaller truck companies and self-employed truckers. They are protesting surging fuel prices, unfair competition by larger companies and poor working conditions.

Growing Shortages

Large logistics hubs such as Mercamadrid have been operating at half capacity for the past three days, with a drop of as much as 60% in the arrival of products such as fruit, vegetables, fish and shellfish. In Catalonia, where I’m writing this from, the problems seem to be less pronounced. Barcelona’s wholesale market Mercabarna has been receiving 11% less fish and 33% less vegetables, in particular eggplant, zucchini and peppers. As one might expect, panic buying has also exacerbated the shortages.

The main flashpoints are in southern and northern parts of the country, in regions such as Galicia, Cantabria and Andalusia. Some Cantabrian fishing fleets announced on Tuesday that they would halt their activity altogether as there was no way of guaranteeing that their haul would make it to market. The same is happening with fruit growers in the south of Spain. On Wednesday afternoon, the dairy industry confirmed that it will stop working as of Thursday because it cannot supply itself or distribute its products.

Some factories have also been forced to close due to a shortage of components. They include a sugar refinery belonging to Azucarera in Jerez de la Frontera and two steel manufacturing plants, one belonging to Arcelor Mittal in Asturias and the other to Acerinox in Los Barrios (Cádiz). An Opel factory in Zaragoza has also stopped its Line 1, where the Citroën C3 Aircross and the Opel Crossland are assembled, due to supply problems.

Throughout Spain, major ports are not fully functioning. The port of Bilbao, one of the main entry points in northern Spain, is paralysed. “By road, no commodity is leaving the port of Bilbao, no one works in Santurtzi, the port is stopped 100 percent. No truck is loading,” a spokesperson for the Association of Self-Employed Carriers of the port of Bilbao told news agency EFE.

In Algeciras port, one of the world’s busiest transshipment hubs, the Algeciras Bay Container Transport Association, with a fleet of 1,000 trucks, is supporting the strike.

Pickets have taken place outside key logistics hubs, preventing non-striking truckers from reaching their pickup point. In some places violence has erupted. According to El Mundo, 1,700 trucks had already been vandalized by Thursday afternoon. At a picket line in the industrial zone in San Fernando de Henares, Madrid, two strikers were reportedly injured, one seriously, after an undercover policeman opened fire when one of them resisted arrest. The striker, aged 33, was rushed to hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
