‘As Long as It Takes’ – New Zealand Truck Protesters Vow to Fight On

New Zealand truck protest supporters on Tuesday refused to leave and camped overnight inside the national parliament’s grounds in Wellington – picketing the parliament building in the capital again Wednesday.

Their ongoing protest comes after an estimated 1,000 vehicles, including trucks, motorbikes and cars ground Wellington to a standstill in a protest against the nation’s strict coronavirus restrictions, with a hardcore of protesters pledging to remain there “as long as it takes.”

Reports have also surfaced that others are planning to join the protest from across the country over the next few days, as New Zealanders voice their opposition to the mask mandate for pupils in schools and also the vaccination requirement for certain public sector jobs such as for doctors, teachers and military personnel.

Protestors could remain in place for some time as February is the last month of summer in New Zealand, meaning it is unlikely the protesters will be driven off by poor weather.

While yesterday’s convoy was peaceful, the police – who numbered around 100 – stand accused of attempting to intimidate protestors with one rally attendee Sel Currie from Auckland suggesting the “police are trying to incite violence” but insisted the protestors will remain peaceful.

Three protesters aged 61, 57 and 50, have been arrested after allegedly trying to break through police lines and enter the Parliament, the New Zealand Herald reports.

Police report the trio have been charged with obstruction and trespass.

However, the police have acknowledged that even though the other demonstrators are refusing to move their tents, this alone does not constitute a trespass offence.

Officially New Zealand’s ultra-left Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and the Speaker of the House have both refused to comment on whether the protesters should be removed or not, instead insisting it is a matter for New Zealand’s police.

Ardern also seemingly defended the presence of the anti-restrictions protestors’ saying: “People often protest on the front lawn of Parliament. It is part of New Zealand”.

Ardern has continually refused to meet with the protestors – who she supposedly has a duty to represent – to hear their concerns and yesterday suggested she was “too busy”.

An unidentified protestor speaking to the New Zealand Herald highlighted that support for ending the coronavirus mandates comes from across the political and social spectrum.

“I just look around the people who have joined this movement, representing every colour, creed, age bracket, all speaking in one voice to end the mandates”, the protestor said.

Betrayal: 13 States Join Foreign Government's Attempt to Hobble Smith & Wesson

Thirteen U.S. states have joined a civil lawsuit filed by the government of Mexico against Smith & Wesson, becoming parties to foreign interference to change American gun laws.

Smith & Wesson isn’t the only gun company Mexico is targeting in the lawsuit. Glock, Century International Arms, Ruger and Colt are some of the other defendants named, with the litigation targeting the American firearms industry broadly.

The lawsuit demands that the American gun companies limit the distribution of their products as a result of violence within the United States’ southern neighbor.

This foreign attack on the Second Amendment is being aided and abetted by Democratic states.

In court documents obtained by Courthouse News, Mexico’s lawyers accused the gun manufacturers of violating the country’s import laws.

Massachusetts, California, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York and Oregon are listed as amicus parties to the Mexican lawsuit in January court documents published by Just Security.

The amicus brief filed in the case by American states represents cooperation with a foreign government to interfere in domestic American politics.

Through aiding the suit, the states are also jeopardizing the jobs and livelihoods of thousands of their own citizens. The firearms industry employs hundreds of thousands of Americans.

The states filed the brief after Smith & Wesson moved to dismiss Mexico’s lawsuit. The company argued that a foreign country had no right to impose its own domestic laws in American courts.

So-called progressive “lawfare” has emerged as a new primary tactic of the gun control movement, with bipartisan opposition to gun bans and new restrictions proving insurmountable for gun control’s prospects in Congress and state legislatures.

Mexico had filed its lawsuit in the United States Court of the District of Massachusetts, selecting a venue potentially more amenable to gun control arguments.

In comparison to the United States, Mexico has very restrictive gun laws. The country has only one legal gun store located on a military base.

In spite of this, the country has much higher levels of gun violence, in great part fueled by drug cartels and criminal organizations.

In its federal lawsuit against the gunsmiths, Mexico claims that firearms manufactured by the defendant companies have been used in nearly half of gun violence recorded in the country. “Defendants collectively account for nearly half of all crime guns recovered in Mexico,” the lawsuit reads. “From January through May 2020, Defendants accounted for the following percentages of all recovered guns: Smith & Wesson 9.9%; Barrett 2.3%; Beretta 5.8%; Century Arms 6.2%; Colt 10.8%; Glock 6.7%; and Ruger 6.2%.”

Historically, Mexico has had a legal provision similar to the Second Amendment in the nation’s own constitution. However, the right to bear arms legally has been all but eliminated in the country, with reporting from the Los Angeles Times detailing the months of background checks necessary for legal gun ownership.

In a November speech, the foreign minister of Mexico called for regulation of gun manufacturers at the United Nations, appearing to take aim at the United States’ gun laws.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett supports the continued use of the controversial NSO Pegasus spyware, despite further allegations of it being used to illegally target activists, according to Haaretz.

At a press conference on Monday, Bennet said that the hacking software can be used in the "fight against organised crime".

"You want a tool like this when you’re fighting crime families and serious offences. I don't want to discard the tool itself, rather to regulate its use,” Bennet told reporters.

Bennett claimed the spyware could be used in the fight against protection rackets in Palestinian communities.

"In Arab society, it's been neglected, and we need to take care of it. It's far worse than I thought. We need all the tools we have to handle this, but we must use them carefully and under close supervision," Bennett said.

Bennett’s support for the controversial hacking software follows the release of a report by Israeli business newspaper Calcalist, that claimed it was used, without a court order, to spy on prominent individuals.

Among those allegedly targeted were former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son, Avner, and his media advisers, as well as the director generals of the finance, justice, and transportation ministries – Shai Babad, Keren Terner and Emi Palmor.

"The things that were reported, if true, are very serious," said Bennett.

"This tool [Pegasus], and similar tools, are very important in the war against terror as well as against serious crime, but they are not intended for widespread ‘phishing’ of Israeli citizens or public figures in the State of Israel, therefore we need to learn exactly what happened."

A top official of the current Sudanese military government is currently in Israel for a secret visit, Reuters and Kan news reported Wednesday.

The unidentified government representative was seeking to advance relations between the countries, the reports said, with Reuters saying he’d arrived at the beginning of the week.

The Kan report was unsourced, while Reuters cited an unnamed official with knowledge of the visit.

There was no immediate confirmation from Israeli or Sudanese government officials.

Sudan’s top general, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who seized power in a coup last year, has said that “Sudan’s relationship with Israel may eventually take a natural form.”

In an interview with the Al Arabiya network published in December, he said that normalization with Israel was “necessary to return Sudan to the international community.”

It was the military, not the civilian leadership, in Sudan that has played a more active role in advancing normalization with Israel. Al-Burhan had been the more prominent player leading normalization efforts in Israel.

Israeli delegations have reportedly visited Sudan several times in recent months.

A COVID-19 test developed by a Korean company with a $10.3 million infusion from the U.S. government is so flawed at least one state stopped using it after just a few weeks and a third-world country flagged it as defective months ago. In late September, the rapid antigen tests received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to test individuals suspected by healthcare providers of being infected and by the end of December the authorization was expanded to include asymptomatic individuals. The test is made by south Korean manufacturer GenBody and is being promoted by a “minority-owned, female-led” public relations agency based in southern California.

Utah began using GenBody in late December at state-run testing sites. This week the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) announced it will temporarily pause the use of the on-site rapid antigen tests at all state-operated facilities after data revealed more than half of the tests resulted in a false negative. “The UDOH analyzed test results from nearly 18,000 Utah residents who received both GenBody rapid antigen and PCR tests on the same day,” the UDOH statement says. “Among people who tested positive by PCR, more than half of them tested negative by GenBody rapid antigen test; this was true even for people who reported COVID-like symptoms.” State epidemiologists raised questions about the performance of the GenBody rapid tests, the agency further writes.

In a local newspaper article Utah state epidemiologist Leisha Nolen says concerns were raised last week when mobile testing partners “noticed that they were getting a lot more negatives that would come up later as positives.” The health official reveals that for every 100 people who tested positive on a PCR test, only 38% tested positive on the GenBody rapid antigen test. “Even for those who displayed clear symptoms of COVID-19, only 41% out of every 100 who tested positive on a PCR test also tested positive on a GenBody rapid test,” the news story says, adding that Nolan and her colleagues “were really concerned by those numbers.” The UDOH announcement acknowledges that rapid antigen tests are known to be less likely to identify a positive individual, but the difference identified in the state analysis was higher than expected.

Liz Cheney's Hunter Biden problem: Husband's firm reps China companies, dictatorial regimes

Philip Perry is a partner at Latham & Watkins, which works on behalf of foreign entities, including some flagged as threats to U.S. national security.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) called on the U.S. to stand up to the "generational threat" posed by China while unveiling a major report on Beijing's "malign behavior" at the same time her husband's law firm was working on behalf of companies linked to China's military, intelligence, and security services.

As Cheney stood at the podium, her husband Philip Perry’s law firm was cashing in on legal and lobbying work that his employer — Latham & Watkins (LW), one of the largest law firms in the world — was doing for a host of Chinese companies, some of which were involved in the kind of activity that Cheney was warning had to be stopped.

All of LW's work discussed in this article was legal, and Perry didn't work directly on these accounts. But as a partner at the firm, he benefits and profits from all its work.

Perry's firm's work for Chinese entities and countries whose human rights abuses and authoritarian rule have troubled the U.S. for years seems to conflict with his wife's frequent calls for America to stand up to autocratic regimes like China. The dynamic is one familiar to longtime observers of Washington, D.C.: a power couple calling out the very behavior from which they benefit.

"It's the kind of say one thing do another that Americans hate in Washington, D.C.," former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said Tuesday. "Liz Cheney will have a lot of explaining to do to the Wyoming voters."

In September 2020, House Republicans publicized the final version of an extensive report conducted by the China Task Force, a body comprised of 15 members of Congress, including Cheney. The review examined the multifaceted threat to the U.S. presented by the ruling Chinese Communist Party.

"China is rapidly developing a military force that is capable of winning regional conflicts and they're expanding their military footprint globally," Cheney said at a press conference where the report was unveiled. "The government of China and the Chinese Communist Party have gone to school on the United States — they've looked at our capabilities … and they have developed capabilities to counter those.

"We must counter the Chinese Communist Party globally as it seeks to establish more robust logistics and basing infrastructure around the world as it seeks to project its own military power. It is very important for everyone to note that we are in the midst of a battle between freedom and totalitarianism. The question we all face is whether the United States and our allies will set the rules of the road into the future or whether the Chinese Communist Party and that authoritarian, totalitarian regime will set the rules of the road."

Cultist media gradually, over decades, reduces the public vocabulary, promotes social division, emphasizing inequities, fanning the flames of old grievances, using false flag terrorism to foster or rekindle resentments, falsifying historical records to provide evidence for a shameful cult created US history that never happened. Destroying the story of a nation destroys that nation; the nation falls apart.

Mind war, non linear war, is a highly developed form of conflict, with tested doctrines and a protean tactical repertoire. We don't hear about IO, mind war and it's power and tactics because our entire information distribution infrastructure; the entertainment industry and social media/ tech companies are all controlled by a subversive confederacy of deep state criminals.

How truck convoy supporters like Pierre Poilievre have weaponized ‘freedom’

If you watched any of federal Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre’s video announcing his candidacy for the leadership of his party, you might have discerned a theme: freedom

Variations of the word were used nine times in his three-minute performance. If he is elected leader and is ultimately successful in becoming prime minister, Mr. Poilievre promised, among other things, to make Canadians the “freest people on earth,” with “freedom to make your own health and vaccine choices, freedom to speak without fear.”

“Freedom over fear,” he recently tweeted.

This is not by accident, of course.

Freedom is a word that gets bandied about a lot these days, but has mostly been co-opted by the alt-right, both here and in the U.S. During the last federal election, People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier, the far-right’s current standard-bearer in this country, was greeted with chants of “freedom, freedom,” at his campaign stops.

Freedom, as an ideology, has been appropriated by the Make America Great Again (MAGA) wing of the U.S. Republican party. There is a strong MAGA fan base in this country, apparently with prominent supporters such as Candice Bergen, the new interim leader of the federal Conservative Party of Canada. Undated photos circulating on social media appear to show Ms. Bergen sporting a camouflage MAGA hat.

MAGA hats and Trump signs have been ubiquitous at the Freedom Convoy occupation in Ottawa, which has attracted donations and political support from the U.S. One man rode a horse through the downtown streets carrying a flag emblazoned with the word “Trump.” The word ‘freedom’ could be found on most signs being touted by the protesters. For many, it’s a word that has become code for white-identity politics and the far-right’s weapon of choice in the culture wars.

Mr. Poilievre has been a strong advocate of those gathered in Ottawa, meeting with them and helping get their message out.

He’s been less vocal about the lawlessness that has taken place or the harm that the encampment has caused to commerce and downtown residents. It would appear that the presumptive favourite to win the Conservative leadership isn’t prepared to jeopardize his relationship with potential supporters in the name of law and order.

This, undoubtedly, will be remembered.

Freedom, of course, has not always been a concept usurped for selfish, malicious purposes. It’s been a rallying cry behind great triumphs such as the end of slavery and the civil rights movement. But others have believed freedom is about protecting property rights, even if that has to occur at the diminishment of democracy.

More recently, political leaders, and others, with an unprecedented megaphone in the form of the internet and social media, have used the call for “freedom” to promote bigoted, racist and anti-democratic ideas.

As Elisabeth Anker, a professor of American studies at George Washington University and author of Ugly Freedoms recently wrote in The New York Times: “Today, more and more, laws, caucuses, rallies and hard-right movements use the language of freedom as a cudgel to erode democratic governance and civil rights; these laws expand the creep of authoritarianism.”

Don’t forget that the organizers of the Freedom Convoy have called for the overthrow of the federal government as well as the rescindment of all COVID-19 mandates across Canada.

Which brings us back to Mr. Poilievre and his courtship of these folks.

As a strategy, it does offer a fuel line of support for his leadership bid. The social conservative wing of the party would certainly applaud his freedom mantra and may be seduced into thinking that, in Mr. Poilievre, they have someone who will promote their controversial wish list (see: ban on abortions). Moreover, the freedom cry will be welcomed by the party’s grassroots in rural Western Canada, a faction that is increasingly bitter and angry.

Whether Canadians more generally will feel comfortable with Mr. Poilievre’s adoption of language associated with Mr. Trump and the worst elements of the Republican party (Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marjorie Taylor Greene et al) is highly doubtful. Poll after poll has shown little appetite in this country for Mr. Trump’s divisive, anti-media, autocratic style of leadership.

It’s also unclear how well Mr. Poilievre’s tactics will go down with moderates within the CPC – Red Tories who don’t have the slightest interest in extending empathy to those associated with the type of disorder we’ve witnessed in the capital for more than 10 days now.

With his wooing of the protesters, Mr. Poilievre is taking a massive gamble. Then again, as it was once written, freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.
