Update: The Post's Marc Fisher and Will Hobson are out with a fuller look at Trump's use of both Barron and another false name John Miller while posing as his own spokesman. The story is fascinating and worth a look.

Here's what we wrote in late March about Barron:

In the 1980s, when reporters called the Trump Organization to request an interview with the boss, they were sometimes referred to a spokesman, instead. That a busy and image-conscious executive such as Donald Trump would place a buffer between himself and the media was hardly unusual, but there was a twist: The spokesman, John Barron, was actually Trump, hiding behind a fake name.

Barron (also spelled “Baron” in some press accounts) appears to have been Trump’s go-to alias when he was under scrutiny, in need of a tough front man or otherwise wanting to convey a message without attaching his own name to it.

Trump’s use of an assumed name runs counter to the persona he has crafted as the leading Republican candidate for president — one of an unfiltered, politically incorrect maverick who is unafraid to say anything. It suggests that the billionaire real estate mogul is — or, at least, was — not so bold as he likes to present himself.

Remarkably, Trump kept up the charade for a full decade, as reporters unwittingly quoted Barron as if he were a real person. In a LexisNexis search, the first mention of the name appears on June 6, 1980, in a New York Times report about Trump’s controversial decision to destroy two Art Deco sculptures he had conditionally promised to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In that instance, Trump used the alias to stall for three days before finally giving an interview under his own name; when he did, he told the Times that he had been out of town and unavailable (!).

When the original plan to build Trump Castle (in New York, instead of Atlantic City) fell apart in 1984, Barron spun the failure as a business win: “It sure is easier to get a large commission on a $105 million sale than to put up a building,” New York magazine quoted Barron as saying in its Aug. 13 issue that year, referring to a decision by Trump and partner Prudential Insurance to sell a Madison Avenue property, rather than develop it.

As owner of the USFL’s New Jersey Generals in 1985, Trump used Barron to publicly pressure his counterparts in the ill-fated pro football league to help him pick up the tab for quarterback Doug Flutie. On April 2 of that year, The Washington Post quoted Barron as saying that “when a guy goes out and spends more money than a player is worth, he expects to get partial reimbursement from the other owners.”

Trump might have gotten away with his ruse even longer if not for a lawsuit in which he testified, under oath in 1990, that “I believe on occasion I used that name.”

The suit dealt with Trump’s employment of undocumented migrant workers from Poland on his Trump Tower project — a case that has attracted renewed attention in the 2016 presidential campaign, particularly after Marco Rubio raised it during a debate in February. A lawyer who had represented the workers in their effort years earlier to recover back pay testified in the case that a man who identified himself as John Barron had called one day in 1980 and threatened a lawsuit if the workers didn't stop trying to collect additional wages.

Trump biographer Michael D'Antonio wrote in his 2015 book, "Never Enough: Donald Trump and the Pursuit of Excellence," that the business magnate borrowed the phony-spokesman trick from his father, Fred Trump, who sometimes posed as a "Mr. Green."

Shortly after the revelation, the Associated Press published a brief, lighthearted piece about a real-life man named John Baron, who was a partner in a Denver management consulting firm. Baron had learned of Trump’s name game and sent him a letter.

“I ask only that you consider inviting my mother, the estimable Betty Baron, to lunch in New York as a way of thanking her,” Baron wrote. “After all, it was she who came up with the name by which we both have prospered.”

Trump hasn’t used the alias in many years, but he continues to troll the media in subtle ways. On Sunday, he tweeted a happy birthday message to his youngest son, who is named "Barron."

After being introduced to Ivan Illich as an educational thinker by two retired friends who were teachers, it raised so many questions in life that I have decided to create a series of digests on his famous book Deschooling Society. He is a thinker who demands being read, so if you have not encountered his thought I recommend you make a point to read his work firsthand and then prompt you to go and explore it yourself. This is the very spirit of Ivan Illich.

The best insight into Ivan Illich’s life and works has to be firstly from being the autodidact (self learner), then from his own words, and then from the excellent series that broadcaster David Cayley made with rare and in depth interviews with the man himself. The five part series called ‘Part Moon, Part Travelling Salesman’ you can see punctuating this brief article.

This man Illich has disturbed my cosy thinking and influenced my perspective on education and the great institutions which shape our lives. In this post modernist age, and I use that phrase with some reservation, the role of institutions, their objectives, their origins and effectiveness must the re-examined in light of our ever moving society.

Society does not always move forward into progress, nor in any single direction. Ivan Illich had great vision understanding the deracination (uprooting) of people from their own experience. He was concerned about the polution and destruction of our environment, our food, our medicine, our institutions and spoke plainly about the problems.

January 6 Committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson on Sunday said the panel has spoken to former Attorney General Bill Barr.

Politico on Friday published a draft executive order that “would have directed the defense secretary to seize voting machines and a document titled “Remarks on National Healing.””

CBS’s Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan asked Bennie Thompson about the draft executive order published by Politico.

“There was also another story, significant — Politico published the text of a draft executive order that had been presented to President Trump in December of 2020 to have the Defense Secretary seize voting machines in battleground states and multiple news organizations have now reported this. Do you intend to go to the Attorney General, Bill Barr, to ask him about this? I mean, how do you follow up on this kind of allegation and the paperwork to back it up?” Margaret Brennan asked Bennie Thompson.

“Well yes, we do. To be honest with you, we’ve had conversations with the former Attorney General already. We have talked to Department of Defense individuals. Uh, we are concerned, uh, that our military was part of this big lie on promoting that the election was false. So if you are using the military to potentially seize voting machines even though it’s a discussion, the public needs to know. We’ve never had that before and so any of these individuals who are participating and trying to stop the election — the duly election of a president, and if we can document it, we will share it with the public,” Bennie Thompson said.

Margaret Brennan asked Bennie Thompson if there was actually an operation plan beyond the draft executive order.

Rep. Thompson said there was no operational plan, but the “draft itself” is reason enough to investigate and continue to harass Bill Barr.

“Will the former attorney general, Bill Barr, testify to you? Will you seek out other members of the military to clarify some of what you just laid out here?” Margaret Brennan asked.

Thompson said the J-6 Committee has plans to hold public hearings and some people may be brought in to give depositions under oath.

A bill working its way through the New Hampshire legislature would allow residents to receive ivermectin from pharmacies with a prescription of a doctor or an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) for the off-label treatment of Covid-19

House Bill 2011 would allow pharmacists to "dispense ivermectin under the delegated prescriptive authority of the physician or APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurses), specify a mechanism to document screening performed and the prescription in the patient's medical record, and include a plan for evaluating and treating adverse events," reads the bill. "Any such prescription shall be regarded as being issued for a legitimate medical purpose in the usual course of professional practice."

Ivermectin, a protease inhibitor (just like Pfizer's new Covid pill), has come under attack ever since former President Trump suggested it as a potential treatment for Covid-19. Shortly thereafter, a flurry of anti-ivermectin studies came out - the majority of which analyzed already-hospitalized patients, as opposed to its use as an early intervention.

Hunter Biden, former Joe Biden adviser invested in Chinese company with ties to Communist Party, NBA China: Leaked emails

A new report claimed that Hunter Biden and a former aide to Joe Biden invested in a Chinese company with ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

In 2009, U.S. investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners was founded by Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden; Christopher Heinz, stepson of former Secretary of State John Kerry; and Devon Archer, an American businessman who was classmates with Heinz at Yale University.

According to emails reviewed by Fox Business, Rosemont Seneca Partners held a 5% investment stake in Harves Amusement Parks and ownership in Harves Sports and Entertainment as recently as March 2017. A purported email exposing the ownership interests of Rosemont Seneca Advisors was allegedly sent to Hunter by Eric Schwerin — Hunter Biden's longtime business partner.

The report alleged that Hunter's original introduction to the Harves Group arrived in 2015 by Francis Person, who served as an adviser to then-Vice President Biden from 2009 to 2014 and was a "special assistant" to Biden when he was a senator.

In July 2014, Person stopped working with then-Vice President Joe Biden. In January 2015, Person became the president of the Harves Group. By May 2018, Person became the co-founder of Harves Global Entertainment.

Person reportedly wrote an email to Hunter in July 2015, which invited him to travel to China the following month to meet his business partner — Bo Zhang.

"Bo Zhang and his family would host us. They are a great family with great respect and relationships in China," Person allegedly wrote to Hunter in an email. "Bo graduated from American Univ and is in his late 20’s, and his parents own Harves Century Group of Shenyang - which is a top tier private Chinese real estate development firm."

According to the purported email, Person highlighted that Zhang was being "groomed to take over the family's dynasty" and that "there will be plenty of big things that come down the road that we can work on."

"His mom is actually the Chairman of the company, which is unique in China," the alleged email said. "They are very private, and wouldn’t tell anyone about you coming. Bo's father-in-law is actually the Governor of Hainan (Chinese Hawaii), which he doesn’t advertise at all."

Bo's father-in-law is Liu Cigui — who since 2012 has been a member of the CCP Central Committee — the party’s "highest organ of authority," according to China Vitae. Between 2012 and 2017, Cigui was a member of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, which is "a secretive, powerful agency in charge of investigating the Communist Party’s own members for corruption," and was "the main weapon in Xi Jinping’s rapid consolidation of power as China’s new leader," according to the Washington Post.

The Diplomat described Cigui as a "Xi loyalist" in a report from January 2021.

Joy Reid Bashes Americans For Wanting 'Human Rights And Civil Liberties,' Says 'Human Sacrifice Is Right There' In Bible

MSNBC host Joy Reid went on an unhinged Twitter rant yesterday where she slammed Americans for wanting to preserve “human rights and civil liberties,” describing her belief that “human sacrifice is right there in the Old Testament…”

Leftist MSNBC host Joy Reid believes that Americans are mistaken for wanting to preserve their “human rights and civil liberties” when it comes to the US government mandating Americans to wear masks, or be injected with the COVID-19 vaccines, both of which do not prevent individuals from catching or spreading coronavirus.

During a deranged Twitter rant yesterday, Reid detailed those beliefs, also stating that “human sacrifice is right there in the Old Testament,” prompting a liberal “Christian” who joined in on the discussion to admittedly “reconsider paganism.”

Despite the fact that mask-wearing and COVID-19 vaccines definitively do not prevent the spread of coronavirus, Reid falsely claimed that “people of the far right,” governors, judges, the Supreme Court, and “even non right-wingers” who do not support mandates wish to grant the virus a “right” to “proliferate and spread.”

This weird thing has happened in the world during the pandemic: people of the far right (including governors and judges all the way up to SCOTUS) and even non-right wingers, have developed a philosophy that amounts to granting the coronavirus a “right” to proliferate and spread…

such that ANY attempt by government to impede the natural proliferation of this virus: whether by mandating masks or proof of vaccination or even testing, is viewed as a fundamental violation of human rights and civil liberties. I mean this seems to be the SCOTUS majority view…

And it definitely seems to be the view of Republican governors; that NO governmental or even private action may be taken to stop the coronavirus from spreading; that it MUST be allowed to spread “naturally,” and that the only allowable course is treating the resulting illness.

To Reid, the possibility of using treatments other than the controversial COVID-19 vaccines, which she dubbed “snake oil,” are at issue, because the companies that produce them make money and internet personalities “profit” from spreading word about them.

It appears that Reid did not take into account that Big Tech companies, such as YouTube and Facebook, frequently ban internet personalities for spreading what they call “misinformation” about coronavirus, thus severely impacting their audience outreach and hindering profits.
