Insgesamt waren in der Zeit vom 1. bis 7. März 18.557 Menschen gestorben. Dies geht aus einer Sonderauswertung der vorläufigen Sterbefallzahlen hervor.

Die unterdurchschnittlichen Sterbezahlen werden mit einem in dieser Wintersaison nie erreichten niedrigen Niveau von Atemwegserkrankungen begründet. Dies erkläre, warum im Laufe des Februars die gesamten Sterbefallzahlen trotz der neu auftretenden Corona-Todesfälle unter den Durchschnitt der Vorjahre gefallen sind. Insbesondere in den Jahren 2017 und 2018 seien die Sterbefallzahlen durch schwere Grippewellen erhöht gewesen.

Russland hat Einschränkungen für sein Staatsmedium RT in Deutschland beklagt und im Gegenzug in Moskau akkreditierten deutschen Medien Konsequenzen angedroht.

„Wir rufen Berlin mit vollem Ernst dazu auf, ein normales Funktionieren von RT zu gewährleisten“, sagte die Sprecherin des Außenministeriums, Maria Sacharowa, der Deutschen Presse-Agentur in Moskau. Sie beklagte, dass Banken auf deutschen Behördendruck die Eröffnung eines Geschäftskontos für RT ablehnen würden.

Es müssten umgehend alle einschränkenden Maßnahmen für das Medium beendet werden, fordert der Kreml. „Im anderen Fall sehen wir uns gezwungen, harte Gegenmaßnahmen für die in Russland arbeitenden deutschen Medien zu ergreifen.“

RT, früher Russia Today, ist das Propagandainstrument des Kreml. Dort werden im Auftrag des russischen Staates Verschwörungstheorien und Desinformationen verbreitet.

Welche konkreten Schritte gegen deutsche Medien in Russland geplant seien, sagte Sacharowa nicht. „Wir hoffen immer noch auf eine gütliche Lösung.“ Ziel sei es, eine Eskalation zu vermeiden. Bisher sei Berlin nicht auf die Kritik aus Moskau am Umgang mit RT in Deutschland eingegangen, beklagte die Ministeriumssprecherin.

Russland kritisiert, dass die bisherige Geschäftsbank von RT zum Ende des Monats Mai das Konto schließen werde. Dutzende deutsche und internationale Banken hätten eine Zusammenarbeit mit RT ebenfalls abgelehnt, sagte Sacharowa. RT gehört zum russischen Staatskonzern Rossija Segodnja (Russland heute).

Die Lebensmittelindustrie agiert intransparent und hält sich bedeckt. ARTE hat in Deutschland und Frankreich, aber auch in Irland und der Schweiz recherchiert und hinter die Kulissen der Fertiggerichtproduktion geblickt.

Industriell verarbeitete Lebensmittel sind aus unserem Alltag nicht mehr wegzudenken. Die Palette an Fertiggerichten wird immer größer, ihr Preis immer geringer. Fettleibigkeit und Diabetes nehmen zu, die Angaben auf der Verpackung werden immer unverständlicher. Zum Glück wehren sich Konsumenten, Verbraucherorganisationen und auch einzelne Unternehmen zunehmend gegen den ungesunden „Fertigfraß“.

Um hinter die Kulissen der Lebensmittelindustrie zu blicken, nehmen die Dokumentarfilmer die Perspektive eines Lebensmittelchemikers ein und stellen ein klassisches Fertigprodukt her: ein Cordon bleu. Warum brauchen wir für das panierte Kalbsschnitzel an die 30 Zutaten, obwohl eigentlich nur fünf nötig wären? Kann man beim Fleisch, das in der Industrieversion steckt, wirklich noch von Fleisch sprechen? Und was hat die mit jeder Menge Zusatzstoffen versehene Schmelzmasse mit Käse zu tun? An einem konkreten Beispiel entschlüsselt der Dokumentarfilm, was genau da in unseren Magen wandert und fragt, ob dies noch gesund sein kann. ARTE hat in Deutschland und Frankreich, aber auch in Irland und der Schweiz nachgefragt, wie die Rezepturen klassischer Fertiggerichte aussehen. Schnell hat sich gezeigt, dass man für die Zubereitung keine Küche, sondern ein Chemielabor und jede Menge Pulver und Granulate braucht. Die hochgradig verarbeiteten Lebensmittel besitzen keinen nennenswerten Nährwert, können aber das Risiko für Krebs und Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen erhöhen.
