How to obfuscate messages on social media

Or, how social media censors you.

# How social media censors you

They can potentially scan text at a rate of about 100,000 lines in 8 seconds. And that's just what I've done personally as a programmer. There are probably even more specialized programs to do it faster.

They search for keywords in the text, and limit how many people see your message on FB of Twtr. So avoid using text.

# How to hide your messages in text

If you have to use text to send your message, here are tips to fool the search filters.

- Misspell words. "censorship" becomes "censership". Or use "rappist", "Bidden", etc.

- Add dashes, a space or periods inside words. "censorship" beceomes "cen.sorship".

- Combine methods. "cencorship" because "cen.sership".

- Add liberal hashtags to "protect" your post. Add stuff like #DefundThePolice, #BLM, #socialism, or something else.

- They might look for keywords to review, like racism, hate, or even MSM names like ABC, MSNBC, CNN. YOU can put periods or a dash in these as well: AB.C, C.NN. The period or comma is small and easily overlooked by most peoples' brains.

Sites will often ban domains and posts containing these domains. Add a space to the actual domain. So "duckduckgo.com" becomes "duck duckgo dot com". Normal URLs don't allow spaces and most people already know this, they know to remove the space.

# How to hide messages in images.

It's even better to place text in an image. There are some free paint programs for Windows and other operating systems, like Paint.net (https://www.getpaint.net/), that are easy to use.

But what if they use OCR to translated and image to text to look for URLs or other banned keywords? Using OCR takes a lot more computer processing power but bug names like Google and Twtr and FB will have the processing power, and money to spend. Google's Youtube makes 1 billion dollars of profit, not sales, profit, every month.

Here are ways to make OCR harder.

- Use oddball fancy fonts like Gothic, cursive, or some odd digital font.

- Use techniques for text as described above.

- "Smear" the font using a smearing or blurring function in your paint program. Don't blur it too much, just enough to make it harder to read.

- Add some geometric shapes to the image like a Capthcha. It tends to fool the OCR program.

No method will hide anything perfectly, but it will decrease the potential for censoring your message.

# More tips

Stop using censored media. Look here for alternatives to Twtr, and free video hosting sites. http://wordsalad.info/storesharing.html

Check the table of contents and look for the "Social Media" section.

You can still get banned for obfuscation though but this obfuscation is designed to get past AUTOMATED checks, not reports a person would make on your post. Check the Terms Of Service (TOS) on every site you are on. Save that TOS link.

Hello. I need to ask someone about security and I don't know who to go to. I created a new tw id and have been posting stuff, but tw made me do a captcha thing and sent a code to my phone in order to unlock my account. I guess at that point I should have just closed it and started over, but I had already been through that once with my 1st account, so I did it...which means tw and google both know who my tw account belongs to. Should I close down that tw account and start again. But would that even matter if they see another account pop up on the same ip address posting the same stuff? I made a bunch of memes to post so I would hate to have to abandon them. I am not sure what I should do or if I even should be so worried about it. Please advise, thanks.

I'm thinking that Q's directive to use digital camouflage is more about staying active and avoiding being censored, rather than staying anon. I see so many on tw who are open with their identity, but lots with anon accounts. Is there any way to engage on social media without being exposed?
