Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee who has been leading a congressional investigation into President Trump's alleged ties to Russia, had extensive contact last year with a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch who was offering Warner access to former British spy and dossier author Christopher Steele, according to text messages obtained exclusively by Fox News.

"We have so much to discuss u need to be careful but we can help our country," Warner texted the lobbyist, Adam Waldman, on March 22, 2017.

"I'm in," Waldman, whose firm has ties to Hillary Clinton, texted back to Warner.

Steele famously put together the anti-Trump dossier of unverified information that was used by FBI and Justice Department officials in October 2016 to get a warrant to conduct surveillance of former Trump adviser Carter Page. Despite the efforts, Steele has not agreed to an interview with the committee.

NY Governor Cuomo Signs Bill Legalizing Recreational Marijuana - 3 oz. Outside, 5 Lbs. At Home

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday signed a bill legalizing recreational marijuana in New York.

The move comes after the state Legislature green-lit the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act after hours of debate late Tuesday.

“This is a historic day in New York — one that rights the wrongs of the past by putting an end to harsh prison sentences, embraces an industry that will grow the Empire State’s economy, and prioritizes marginalized communities so those that have suffered the most will be the first to reap the benefits,” Cuomo said in a statement.

Certain parts of the new law go into effect immediately.

Anyone with a previous marijuana conviction that would now be legal under the law will have the rap expunged or be resentenced.

New Yorkers will now be legally allowed to possess up to 3 ounces of Cannabis outside the home and up to 5 pounds at home - and can smoke pot in public where smoking tobacco is permitted.

However, smoking weed is not permitted inside schools, workplaces or cars.

Rep. Greene Introduces Proposal to Bar ‘Vaccine Passports’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) introduced a proposal on April 1 that would ban COVID-19 vaccination mandates as well as so-called vaccine passports.

The We Will Not Comply Act would ban documents that show who has been vaccinated or recently tested negative for the CCP virus. The concept of requiring certification has been rejected by pro-privacy groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Greene’s measure likely won’t be taken up by the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives, and if it is, it will be unlikely to pass. It would “prevent any business engaged in interstate commerce from discriminating against a person based on their COVID-19 vaccine status,” cut off federal funding for a vaccine mandate on employees, a vaccine mandate for students attending schools, and mandates on organizations or sport—or “any person who expresses religious objection,” according to a statement from her office.

It would also prohibit the government from requiring a CCP virus vaccine to get a U.S. passport and “prevent Airline companies from denying someone from flying based on their COVID-19 vaccination status,” as well as “create the ability to sue if a person has been discriminated against on the basis of their vaccination status or mask compliance,” her office wrote.

The idea of such a passport has been publicly floated by large corporations while anonymous reports this week suggested that the Biden administration was working on such a proposal. White House press secretary Jen Psaki, in responding to those reports, said the administration will instead “provide guidance” on the effort to develop vaccine passports or similar systems.

“There is currently an interagency process that is looking at many of the questions around vaccine verification, and that issue will touch many agencies, as verification is an issue that will potentially touch many areas of society,” she said.

“That’s guidance we’ll provide. A determination or development of vaccine passport or whatever you want to call it will be driven by the private sector. Ours will more be focused on guidelines that can be used as a basis and there are a couple of key principles that we are working from.”

Meanwhile, New York state has proposed its own “Excelsior Pass,” which would be used in large-scale venues such as Madison Square Garden. The plan has been criticized by civil liberties groups. Israel set one up in February to grant people access to gyms and hotels, while Iceland now uses a passport to allow foreign travel, and Saudi Arabia has an app-based passport for people who are inoculated.

Greene also introduced legislation that would eliminate the salary of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) chief Dr. Anthony Fauci, who her office said is being paid more than $430,000 per year.

The measure also has virtually no chance of advancing, but it seeks “to conduct a study about the correspondence, financials, and policy memos inside the NIAID before COVID through the end of this year. This will allow us to see what Fauci and the NIAID knew, when they knew it, what they spent money on, and how the agency responded to the virus.”

The firm said, its packaging and labelling may look different but medical workers should be aware of rebranding.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) signed off on the new name after the company sought approval from the EU regulator for the change.

Covishield Covid-19 vaccine will retain its current branding.

The European Union had called for an Emergency Vaccine Summit after more than 8 European nations decided to stop using the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine due to serious blood clot incidents reported in many countries.

This suspension is temporary. Pharma firm and EU health officials maintained that jab is safe and not associated with adverse effects or medical episodes leading to deaths.

However, the list of countries limiting the AstraZeneca vaccine is growing.

Canada also placed restrictions on use of AstraZeneca on Monday and said this jab will not be administered to people younger than 55.

Meanwhile, American Federal health officials accused AstraZeneca of including “outdated information” and providing misleading data in touting the effectiveness of its COVID-19 vaccine in a U.S. study.

This also hit AstraZeneca badly.

The company said, it was working to verify and update findings of the trial. AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine has not been approved for emergency use in US yet.

European countries seem to be sceptical of AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine despite reassurance from governments and medical bodies.

Recently, Germany has reported 31 cases of blood clots in the brain from AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The cases are associated with CSVT or sinus vein thrombosis as per the German regulator and 19 out of 31 cases are linked to thrombocytopenia or blood platelet deficiency.

Only 32% Germans and a merely 23% French people think that vaccine is safe as per a poll released on Monday by YouGov.

As reported by GreatGameIndia, the Chief Norwegian Investigator and Physician Pal Andre Holme who examined the three hospitalized health workers confirmed that it was indeed the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine which caused the rare blood clots due to unexpected immune reaction.

Arizona Senate Sends 2nd==Amendment Bill to Governor

The Arizona Senate passed legislation Wednesday declaring federal gun laws violating “the U.S. or Arizona Constitutions’ right to bear arms as unenforceable.”

The Associated Press reports that the legislation, Senate Bill 1328, which passed the AZ Senate on Wednesday, not only forbids the enforcement of egregious federal controls but also opens up enforcing agents to the prospect of lawsuits.

A provision in SB 1328 says, “Declares an act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the U.S. government that violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution or Article II, Section 26 of the Arizona Constitution null, void and unenforceable in Arizona.”

Other provisions in SB 1328:

States that a government entity, agency, bureau, employee or official, or a person working under the authority or orders of a government entity, agency, bureau, employee or official commits an impairment of a citizen’s right to bear arms by enforcing or attempting to enforce an act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the U.S. government that is null, void and unenforceable by this statute.

Allows a government entity, agency, bureau, employee or official, or a person working under the authority of orders of a government entity, agency, bureau, employee or official that commits an impairment of a citizen’s right to bear arms pursuant to this statute to be sued by any citizen in superior court for declarative and injunctive relief, damages and attorney fees.

On January 24, 2021, Breitbart News noted the introduction of legislation by Missouri State Sen. Eric Burlison (R-Battlefield) to nullify new Biden administration gun controls in his state.

KMOX News Radio 1220 explained that Burlison’s legislation, Senate Bill 39, is titled “Second Amendment Protection Act.”

Missourinet observed that Burlison told fellow lawmakers SB39 is intended to prevent in-state enforcement of “gun bans directly, magazine bans, attacks on private gun manufacturers, red flag laws, and restrictions on individual citizens from buying firearms.”

MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – Following the third mass shooting in this country over the past two weeks, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly was optimistic that Congress could approve tougher gun control legislation despite past failures.

"Can it get through the United States Senate? I think so. This often takes some work and takes some time," Kelly said Thursday during a press conference in Mesa.

Kelly, who campaigned last year on gun safety, said he is pushing for legislation that requires background checks on all firearm sales.

A recent POLITICO/Morning Consult poll shows that two-thirds of American voters support tightening gun purchase laws. But for any proposal to succeed, it needs the support of at least 10 Republicans in the Senate to avoid the bill crushing filibuster. And so far, GOP lawmakers have shown few signs of working in a bipartisan manner.

Previous efforts in the Senate to require background checks on sales have failed. Most notably, in 2012, after the Newtown, Connecticut elementary school shootings when the so-called Manchin-Toomey proposal died on a 48-50 vote. In 2015, the same proposal failed to pass the Senate again after shooters in San Bernardino, California, killed 14 and injured over a dozen more.

But Kelly insisted that the political winds are shifting.

"I talked to my Democratic and Republican colleagues about this, and the plan is to, you know, work on it. Background checks for gun sales make sense," Kelly said.

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — Myanmar’s wireless broadband internet services were shut down on Friday by order of the military, a local provider said, as protesters continued to defy the threat of lethal violence to oppose the junta’s takeover.

A directive from the Ministry of Transport and Communications on Thursday instructed that “all wireless broadband data services be temporarily suspended until further notice,” according to a statement posted online by local provider Ooredoo.

Fiber-based landline internet connections were still working, albeit at drastically reduced speeds.

Also Friday, the New York-based Human Rights Watch issued a report saying that Myanmar’s military has forcibly disappeared hundreds of people, including politicians, election officials, journalists, activists and protesters and refused to confirm their location or allow access to lawyers or family members in violation of international law.

“The military junta’s widespread use of arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances appears designed to strike fear in the hearts of anti-coup protesters,” said Brad Adams, Human Rights Watch’s Asia director. “Concerned governments should demand the release of everyone disappeared and impose targeted economic sanctions against junta leaders to finally hold this abusive military to account.”

The crisis in the Southeast Asian nation has expanded sharply in the past week, both in the number of protesters killed and with military airstrikes against the guerrilla forces of the Karen ethnic minority in their homeland along the border with Thailand.

In areas controlled by the Karen, more than a dozen civilians have been killed since Saturday and more than 20,000 have been displaced, according to the Free Burma Rangers, a relief agency operating in the area.

About 3,000 Karen fled to Thailand, but many returned under unclear circumstances. Thai authorities said they went back voluntarily, but aid groups say they are not safe and many are hiding in the jungle and in caves on the Myanmar side of the border.

The U.N. Human Rights Office for Southeast Asia called on countries in the region “to protect all people fleeing violence and persecution in the country” and “ensure that refugees and undocumented migrants are not forcibly returned,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters at U.N. headquarters in New York.

The U.N. Security Council late Thursday strongly condemned the use of violence against peaceful protesters. The press statement was unanimous but weaker than a draft that would have expressed its “readiness to consider further steps,” which could include sanctions. China and Russia, both permanent Council members and both arms suppliers to Myanmar’s military, have generally opposed sanctions.

Looks like Biden is taking on the tasks to destroy the country that Clinton was supposed to do. And in earnest. I guess they don't want to risk another Trump slowing/blocking the plan. Look what's already in process in just a few months.

The new report cited “people briefed on the matter” who said Durham’s investigation was scrutinizing the FBI’s “handling” of British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s discredited anti-Trump dossier as well as the FBI’s “disclosures” to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, where the bureau received a warrant followed by three renewals in 2016 and 2017 targeting former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

The outlet also cited “people briefed on the matter” in reporting that “some witnesses” have been asked about how information from Steele made it to the FBI through Perkins Coie, whose top elections lawyer, Marc Elias, served as general counsel for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, hired the opposition research firm Fusion GPS which then hired Steele, and met with the former MI6 agent in the lead-up to the election.
