These are Border Patrol apprehensions between ports of entry only, this data does not include CBP encounters at ports of entry.

Border Patrol sources tell me they have extreme concerns about who is coming into the country because they have little to no way of vetting people from these special interest countries. I’m told unless they have committed a crime previously in the US, or they are on some sort of federal watchlist, there’s no way to know who they are because most of their home countries don’t share data/records with the US so there is nothing to match a name to when BP agents run fingerprints.

A special interest alien is a term used by the U.S. government to refer to people coming from countries that have conditions that favor or harbor terrorism, or pose a potential national security to the U.S.

Severe space weather is messing up bird migrations, new study suggests

Because birds use magnetic fields to navigate at night during long-distance migrations, severe space weather can throw them off course.

New research indicates that severe space weather events, such as solar flares, disrupt birds' navigational skills during long migrations.

Previous research has indicated that when flying at night, birds (and many other animals) use Earth's magnetic field for navigation. Because solar events disrupt the magnetic field — as well as produce auroras — birds have more difficulty navigating during them.

The new study analyzed images taken from 37 NEXRAD Doppler weather radar stations, which can detect groups of migrating birds, as well as data from ground-based magnetometers, to study 23 years of bird migration across the U.S. Great Plains. The 1,000-mile (1,600-kilometer) span from North Dakota to Texas is considered a major migratory corridor for birds.

"The biggest challenge was trying to distill such a large dataset — years and years of ground magnetic field observations — into a geomagnetic disturbance index for each radar site," Daniel Welling, University of Michigan space scientist said in a statement. "There was a lot of heavy lifting in terms of assessing data quality and validating our final data product to ensure that it was appropriate for this study."

The work paid off. The researchers discovered that the number of migrating birds in this region decreases by 9 to 17 percent during severe space weather events. They also noticed increased rates of birds becoming lost during migration, a phenomenon known as migratory bird vagrancy.

"Our findings highlight how animal decisions are dependent on environmental conditions — including those that we as humans cannot perceive, such as geomagnetic disturbances — and that these behaviors influence population-level patterns of animal movement," Eric Gulson-Castillo, a doctoral student at the University of Michigan Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, who served as lead author on a study about the research, said in the same statement.

Interestingly, severe space weather events can also throw off human navigation. Solar outbursts affect satellite communications, disrupting technology like GPS. We can expect more extreme space weather events as the sun builds towards a peak in its 11-year solar activity cycle, expected to occur in 2025. But like weather on Earth, space weather is a fickle fellow and predictions can turn on a dime.

The team's findings were published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Oct. 9.

Many people were stunned this week when they spotted an unidentified flying object hovering around the sky early in the night in areas like Surulere and Maryland in Lagos.

Passers by at the Leisure Mall in Surulere had mixed reactions when they spotted a spaceship looking object flying over different buildings and leaving a large shadow of bright purple light in the sky. “Abi dem don come for us ni”, “Wetin be dis one like this” were some of the expressions of confusion and curiosity of eye witnesses at the locations the UFO was sighted.

UFOs are usually reported as being sighted mostly in America but never in Nigeria so of course, it had people wondering and talking on social media and blogs in no time.

The so called “Purple Beings” also announced their arrival with a 3D Video on LED billboards around Lagos that shows their spaceship flying over Nigerian monuments like the Abuja City Gate, Dolphin Estate and Ikoyi Bridge before finally hovering over the atlantic ocean and opening its spaceship door to see purple looking creatures quickly descend and disappear into the ocean. Scary!!!

You can only imagine the relief many Nigerians must have felt when they saw posts from Instablog9ja, Tunde Ednut and Pulse revealing that “Alien Invasion” was just the wild creation of some creative guys just having fun.

Apparently the “Alien Invasion” was Intense Group; a marketing, media and technology firm’s way of launching “Purple Stardust”, their new Creative Agency into the subconscious of Nigerians.

It won’t be far fetched to think that Purple Stardust will go on to create intriguing marketing campaigns to brands who are adventurous enough to try something out of the box.

Navy Reports the USS Louisiana Launched a Nuclear-Capable Missile Off San Diego

The Navy reported that the submarine USS Louisiana successfully launched a nuclear-capable Trident II D5 intercontinental ballistic missile while submerged in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego.

The launch, which was the 191st successful launch of a Trident II since 1989, came at 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 27, the Navy said.

The missile was unarmed, but typically would have four independently targetable nuclear warheads.

Trident IIs are carried by 14 U.S. Ohio-class submarines and 4 British Vanguard-class submarines. The U.S. submarines typically have 20 of the missiles, which have a range of over 7,500 miles. The make up sea-based part of the U.S. strategic weapons triad.

Vice Adm. Johnny Wolfe Jr., director of strategic systems programs, called the test flight a “historic milestone” for the weapons system.

He said the Navy plans to “sustain this unmatched weapons system while developing the next generation strategic weapons system to ensure our nation’s sea-based strategic deterrence capability through 2084.”

Train carrying military vehicles derails south of downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - All roads have reopened south of downtown Colorado Springs following a train derailment Monday evening, but cleanup is likely to last for days.

The train was hauling heavy military equipment when it tipped over along Las Vegas Street, just south of Circle Drive.

Union Pacific confirmed with 11 News that eight railcars were involved in the incident.

“There were no injuries and no releases of hazardous materials. Union Pacific crews are responding to the incident, which is under investigation,” read a statement in part from Union Pacific.

It’s unclear where the train was heading.

How Hezbollah turned to trafficking cocaine and laundering money through used cars to finance its expansion.

In its determination to secure a nuclear deal with Iran, the Obama administration derailed an ambitious law enforcement campaign targeting drug trafficking by the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, even as it was funneling cocaine into the United States, according to a POLITICO investigation.

The campaign, dubbed Project Cassandra, was launched in 2008 after the Drug Enforcement Administration amassed evidence that Hezbollah had transformed itself from a Middle East-focused military and political organization into an international crime syndicate that some investigators believed was collecting $1 billion a year from drug and weapons trafficking, money laundering and other criminal activities.

Over the next eight years, agents working out of a top-secret DEA facility in Chantilly, Virginia, used wiretaps, undercover operations and informants to map Hezbollah’s illicit networks, with the help of 30 U.S. and foreign security agencies.

They followed cocaine shipments, some from Latin America to West Africa and on to Europe and the Middle East, and others through Venezuela and Mexico to the United States. They tracked the river of dirty cash as it was laundered by, among other tactics, buying American used cars and shipping them to Africa. And with the help of some key cooperating witnesses, the agents traced the conspiracy, they believed, to the innermost circle of Hezbollah and its state sponsors in Iran.

But as Project Cassandra reached higher into the hierarchy of the conspiracy,Obama administration officials threw an increasingly insurmountable series of roadblocks in its way,according to interviews with dozens of participants who in many cases spoke for the first time about events shrouded in secrecy, and a review of government documents and court records. When Project Cassandra leaders sought approval for some significant investigations, prosecutions, arrests and financial sanctions, officials at the Justice and Treasury departments delayed, hindered or rejected their requests.

They followed cocaine shipments, tracked a river of dirty cash, and traced what they believed to be the innermost circle of Hezbollah and its state sponsors in Iran.

The Justice Department declined requests by Project Cassandra and other authorities to file criminal charges against major players such as Hezbollah’s high-profile envoy to Iran, a Lebanese bank that allegedly laundered billions in alleged drug profits, and a central player in a U.S.-based cell of the Iranian paramilitary Quds force. And the State Department rejected requests to lure high-value targets to countries where they could be arrested.

“This was a policy decision, it was a systematic decision,” said David Asher, who helped establish and oversee Project Cassandra as a Defense Department illicit finance analyst. “They serially ripped apart this entire effort that was very well supported and resourced, and it was done from the top down.”

The untold story of Project Cassandra illustrates the immense difficulty in mapping and countering illicit networks in an age where global terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime have merged, but also the extent to which competing agendas among government agencies — and shifting priorities at the highest levels — can set back years of progress.

And while the pursuit may be shadowed in secrecy, from Latin American luxury hotels to car parks in Africa to the banks and battlefields of the Middle East, the impact is not: In this case, multi-ton loads of cocaine entering the United States, and hundreds of millions of dollars going to a U.S.-designated terrorist organization with vast reach.

Obama had entered office in 2009 promising to improve relations with Iran as part of a broader rapprochement with the Muslim world. On the campaign trail, he had asserted repeatedly that the Bush administration’s policy of pressuring Iran to stop its illicit nuclear program wasn’t working, and that he would reach out to Tehran to reduce tensions.

The man who would become Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser and then CIA director, John Brennan, went further. He recommended in a policy paper that “the next president has the opportunity to set a new course for relations between the two countries” through not only a direct dialogue, but “greater assimilation of Hezbollah into Lebanon’s political system.”

By May 2010, Brennan, then assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, confirmed in a speech that the administration was looking for ways to build up “moderate elements” within Hezbollah.

“Hezbollah is a very interesting organization,” Brennan told a Washington conference, saying it had evolved from “purely a terrorist organization” to a militia and, ultimately, a political party with representatives in the Lebanese parliament and Cabinet, according to a Reuters report.

“There is certainly the elements of Hezbollah that are truly a concern to us what they’re doing,” Brennan said. “And what we need to do is to find ways to diminish their influence within the organization and to try to build up the more moderate elements.”

In practice, the administration’s willingness to envision a new role for Hezbollah in the Middle East, combined with its desire for a negotiated settlement to Iran’s nuclear program, translated into a reluctance to move aggressively against the top Hezbollah operatives, according to Project Cassandra members and others.

Lebanese arms dealer Ali Fayad, a suspected top Hezbollah operative whom agents believed reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a key supplier of weapons to Syria and Iraq, was arrested in Prague in the spring of 2014. But for the nearly two years Fayad was in custody, top Obama administration officials declined to apply serious pressure on the Czech government to extradite him to the United States, even as Putin was lobbying aggressively against it.

Fayad, who had been indicted in U.S. courts on charges of planning the murders of U.S. government employees, attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization and attempting to acquire, transfer and use anti-aircraft missiles, was ultimately sent to Beirut. He is now believed by U.S. officials to be back in business, and helping to arm militants in Syria and elsewhere with Russian heavy weapons.

Project Cassandra members say administration officials also blocked or undermined their efforts to go after other top Hezbollah operatives including one nicknamed the “Ghost,” allowing them to remain active despite being under sealed U.S. indictment for years. People familiar with his case say the Ghost has been one of the world’s biggest cocaine traffickers, including to the U.S., as well as a major supplier of conventional and chemical weapons for use by Syrian President Bashar Assad against his people.

Adams tells New Yorkers to beware of ‘lone wolves’ after attack on Israel

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) warned city residents to beware of “lone wolves” in the wake of the deadly attacks on Israel by the Palestinian militant group Hamas over the weekend.

Adams said at a press conference Tuesday alongside city officials that law enforcement will be monitoring social media sites for threats against religious communities as the fighting in Israel and Gaza continues. He said statements posted on social media platforms may exacerbate the issue, noting that “lone wolves” could be radicalized online.

“I think it aggravates the problem and don’t underestimate lone wolves,” Adams said. “You know, people who are who are being radicalized online. And when you put out statements that I have read on some of these sites, you can motivate terrible behaviors.”

When asked what New Yorkers should look for in terms of a “lone wolf attack,” NYPD’s Chief of Patrol John Chell reiterated that the police department is moving resources to religious communities and institutions.

“Saturday morning, the team is on a phone early morning coordinating our response, moving an incredible amount of resources to protect our Jewish community, all churches and religious institutions in the city,” Chell said. “We have multiple community calls with faith leaders from the Jewish religion, the Muslim religion. Very well received, getting everyone on the same page as to what we’re doing.”

Investors Dump Renewable Energy Funds At A Record Pace

Global renewable energy funds saw record outflows of money in the third quarter of 2023 as stocks of wind and solar developers and suppliers crashed amid rising costs, higher interest rates, and supply-chain challenges.

Renewable energy exchange traded funds (ETFs), tracking the performance of clean energy companies, suffered a total of $1.4 billion of outflows in the third quarter, the highest outflows of any previous quarter, according to data from LSEG Lipper cited by Reuters.

The record outflows between July and September only partially offset net inflows of $3.36 billion for the first half of 2023, the data showed.

However, renewable energy stocks started to come under pressure around the middle of this year as development costs surged amid high interest rates and supply-chain delays.

The S&P Global Clean Energy Index, comprised of the 100 biggest companies in the renewable energy sector, had a year-to-date return of -31.08% as of October 9, while the iShares Global Clean Energy ETF had a -29.78% YTD return as of October 6.

Some individual stocks haven’t fared much better. For example, shares in the world’s top offshore wind farm developer, Orsted, had dropped by 44.49% year to date to October 10, with most of the decline accumulated in recent weeks.

At the end of August, Orsted warned of up to $2.3 billion (16 billion Danish crowns) of impairments on its U.S. project portfolio due to supply chain delays, higher interest rates, and the possible inability to qualify for additional tax credits beyond 30%.

Also in the U.S., NextEra Energy Partners LP, the renewable energy company of NextEra Energy, has seen its shares slump by 70.93% so far this year.

A perfect storm of soaring costs, supply chain delays, rising interest rates, and low electricity prices at auctions have been hurting renewables-related companies in recent months.

“There’s a dark cloud hanging over green stocks,” Martin Frandsen, a portfolio manager at Principal Asset Management, told the Financial Times earlier this month.

South Korea’s Samsung and SK Hynix will be allowed to ship U.S. semiconductor manufacturing equipment to their China factories indefinitely without separate U.S. approvals, according to Yonhap News Agency.

“The U.S. government’s decision means that the most significant trade issue of our semiconductor companies has been resolved,” Choi Sang-mok, Seoul’s senior presidential secretary for economic affairs, reportedly told media on Monday.

The latest development quells concerns both firms have about their chip production in China, which partly relies on U.S. equipment.

WASHINGTON DC – President Joe Biden has been interviewed by the special counsel team investigating how classified documents from his time as vice president ended up at his office and home, the White House said Monday night.

The interview was conducted at the White House on Sunday and Monday and was done voluntarily, the administration added.

“As we have said from the beginning, the President and the White House are cooperating with this investigation, and as it has been appropriate, we have provided relevant updates publicly, being as transparent as we can consistent with protecting and preserving the integrity of the investigation,” Ian Sams, spokesperson for the White House, said in a statement. That office was not authorized for storage of classified documents. The prosecutor was also advised that those documents had been secured in an Archives facility.

On November 9, the FBI commenced an assessment, consistent with standard protocols, to understand whether classified information had been mishandled in violation of federal law.

On November 14, pursuant to Section 600.2(b) of the Special Counsel regulations, I assigned U.S. Attorney Lausch to conduct an initial investigation to inform my decision whether to appoint a Special Counsel.

Mr. Lausch has served as the U.S. Attorney in Chicago since 2017. Before that, he spent more than a decade as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in that same office. I selected him to conduct the initial investigation because I was confident his experience would ensure that it would be done professionally and expeditiously.

On December 20, President Biden’s personal counsel informed Mr. Lausch that additional documents bearing classification markings were identified in the garage of the President’s private residence in Wilmington, Delaware. President Biden’s counsel informed Mr. Lausch that those documents were among other records from the period of the President’s service as Vice President. The FBI went to the location and secured those documents.

If the FBI began investigating on November 9th, and USAO Lausch began investigating on November 14th, then why were Joe Biden’s lawyers informing Laush of additional classified documents found in Delaware on December 20th? Why did the FBI and Lausch not find them?

As the Biden administration races to investigate a leak of classified U.S. documents, much of Washington is remaining silent about a particularly sensitive disclosure within the trove of files: an alleged revolt by Israel’s top spy service against the judicial overhaul proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The leaked document labeled “top secret” says that in February, senior leaders of the Mossad spy service “advocated for Mossad officials and Israeli citizens to protest the new Israeli Government’s proposed judicial reforms, including several explicit calls to action that decried the Israeli Government, according to signals intelligence.”

By itself, the direct intervention into Israeli politics by the Mossad, an external spy service forbidden from wading into domestic matters, would be a significant revelation. That the information surfaced as a result, apparently, of U.S. espionage on its closest Middle East ally could further inflame what has been a time of historic political unrest in Israel.

A naked photo of Frank Biden, President Joe Biden’s younger brother, is circulating online after originally being shared on a website in 2018.

The photo was uploaded to GuysWithiPhones.com, which is reportedly a popular site among the gay community for posting revealing photos and leaving comments.

Frank Biden, 69, has responded to the photo, claiming that he did not post it.

“I’ve absolutely no comment. I could care less. I haven’t even looked at it,” Frank said Monday morning when asked about the revealing picture. “They must have hacked my phone. Anything that is a revealing picture of some kind is between Mindy and me,” he added.

The President’s brother has been in a committed relationship with Mindy Ward, 50, since 2010.

Ward was a Hooters waitress before later becoming an American Airlines flight attendant. She has two children from a previous marriage that ended in 2013. Frank and Mindy currently reside together in a house in Lake Worth, Florida, which is owned by Ward’s parents.

The controversial selfie of the younger Biden brother was uncovered by the non-profit Marco Polo, which has been investigating political corruption within the Biden family for years.

The photo has spread online like wildfire, making its way to other social media platforms like X, formerly known as Twitter.

This is also not the first time Frank has been under scrutiny.

In 2020, information emerged that he had spent 20 years avoiding a $1 million judgement for the car crash killing of a man in California in 1999 – despite earning hundreds of thousands of dollars as a senior advisor.

According to police reports on the incident, Frank had rented a Jaguar car and allowed his friend to drive 80mph in a 35mph zone, operating the stick shift from the passenger seat. Then, they fatally struck a pedestrian as he crossed the road.

The victim, Michael Albano, was a 38-year-old single father. Albano’s family spent years fighting for the money that they say Frank owed them.

After news began circulating in 2020 of Frank’s many debts, he finally began making payments to the Albano family.

Over the years, Frank has been arrested for a DUI, driving with a suspended license, and petty theft at a Blockbuster store in Pompano Beach, Florida.

According to this law, 43% of Israeli residential areas are legally entitled to deny entrance to Palestinian Arab citizens of the Israeli state. Most of this land, to which the Palestinians are not welcome, was originally confiscated from Palestinian refugees. Clearly, legal segregation laws are not compatible with “democracy” or “moral governance”.

Today, America First Legal (AFL) released a whitepaper detailing why–as a matter of constitutional law, the Presidential Records Act (PRA), and historical practice–the President of the United States has absolute authority over presidential papers. Neither Congress nor the federal courts may lawfully abrogate or limit this authority.

This constitutional fact has significant implications for Special Counsel Jack Smith’s prosecution against Donald J. Trump in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The Department of Justice has charged Donald Trump with violating 18 U.S.C. § 793(e), which provides:

(e) Whoever having unauthorized possession of, access to, or control over any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, or note relating to the national defense, or information relating to the national defense which information the possessor has reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation, willfully communicates, delivers, transmits or causes to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted, or attempts to communicate, deliver, transmit or cause to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted the same to any person not entitled to receive it, or willfully retains the same and fails to deliver it to the officer or employee of the United States entitled to receive it; or

(emphasis added). In obtaining the search warrant to raid Mar-a-Lago in 2022, the Biden DOJ relied upon the definition of a “Presidential Record” in 42 U.S.C. § 2201 to support its position that Donald Trump retained documents he did not have the authority to retain at the conclusion of his presidency, and that somehow, the National Archives and Records Administration possessed the authority to require them to be returned.

The fatal flaw in Jack Smith’s political prosecution under section 793(e) is the fact that Donald Trump—as a matter of law—had authorized possession of, access to, and control over his presidential records. AFL’s whitepaper articulates precisely how and why.

The Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel, backed by Iran, underscore a grim deadline: The restrictions from the United Nations on Tehran’s testing, transfer, and procurement of missiles and drones expire next week. The Biden administration and Europe have said they will henceforth use their own national sanctions, as opposed to the U.N. sanctions, to hold Iran and buyers of its weapons accountable. But that’s not enough to stem Russia’s slaughter of Ukrainians using Tehran-made weapons or to curb Iran’s support for Palestinian terrorists. The United States and its European allies must stop the embargoes’ expiration and reimpose all U.N. Iran sanctions.

The U.N. missile and drone restrictions will expire on Oct. 18, a date known as Transition Day in the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which is also called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. U.N. Security Council Resolution 2231 endorsed and codified the accord a week after its finalization, and it specifies the coming end to the missile and drone provisions. The expiration of the U.N. embargoes will make it easier for Iran to obtain foreign missile and drone equipment. Tehran already procures such equipment but will face fewer restrictions and enforcement actions to stop it from flowing from supplier and transit countries.

Tehran will also increase its use of front companies and other concealment efforts to make illicit procurements for missile and drone activities more difficult to detect — and therefore harder for the U.S. and Europe to sanction. This trend, coupled with a serious (but failing) “de-escalation” effort by America and Europe with the Islamic Republic regime, is a sign to private businesses and foreign governments that the West will not levy sanctions in response to cooperation with Iran.

For those countries that are proactive in ensuring that Iran is not using their jurisdictions for proliferation activities, the expiration of U.N. sanctions will reduce the legal authorities available to countries to address these activities. Some countries, such as Canada, link the enforcement of U.N. resolutions to national sanctions regulations. The expiration of U.N. drone and missile embargoes against Iran could thus throw procurement regulations and sanctions enforcement efforts into disarray.

Iran will use this new permissive procurement and sales environment to augment weapons provisions both to Palestinian terrorist groups that attack Israelis and to Russia to undermine Western support for Ukraine. For more than a year, Tehran has been arming Russia with drones to attack Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure. It has thus far refrained from sharing missiles, likely in anticipation of the Oct. 18 missile sunset. But missile transfers to Moscow will be green-lit after the U.N. embargo expires, resulting in an increase in Ukrainian casualties.

If the U.S. and its European partners rely solely on national authorities to retain the missile and drone sanctions, Iran will see it as a sign of Western weakness and intensify its malign activities, including its nuclear program. When the West does not respond to Iran’s destabilizing policies in the region and beyond, Iran typically takes full advantage. Allowing the embargoes to lapse would be a further signal that the U.S. and Europe will stand down on Tehran’s drone, missile, and nuclear proliferation.

This reality highlights the need to reimpose all other U.N. sanctions on Iran as well. As the remaining parties to the JCPOA, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom must trigger the JCPOA and UNSC Resolution 2231’s mechanism to reimpose U.N. sanctions, colloquially known as the “snapback.” Within 30 days, this would bring back into force prior U.N. resolutions against Iran passed between 2006 and 2010. The snapback would have the added benefit of restoring the U.N. conventional arms embargo against Iran, which expired in 2020, preventing nuclear-related restrictions from sunsetting, and restoring the international demand that Tehran halt uranium enrichment.

However, the snapback mechanism expires in 2025, and Russia and China’s hostility to the West and their coziness with Iran all but ensure the UNSC would not be able to pass any new Iran-related sanctions resolutions. The West, therefore, has just two years to reimpose all U.N. sanctions against Tehran and preserve these embargoes before the multilateral prohibitions on Iran’s nuclear, missile, and military programs are gone forever.

The U.S. and Europe have time to act and reverse their acquiescence to Tehran’s growing destabilization of international security. There isn’t a moment to lose — the people of Israel and Ukraine depend on it.
