The West’s ability to impose its interests on various parts of the world has diminished, according to Russia’s defense minister

Asian, African and Latin American states have seen their role in the global arena increase as Western military dominance has started to wane, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has said.

Speaking at the 21st International Security Conference in Moscow on Tuesday, the minister argued that Russia’s military operation in Ukraine has “put an end to the dominance of the collective West in the military sphere.”

“Just as the defeat of fascism by the Red Army in Europe in the last century gave a powerful impetus to anti-colonial movements throughout the world, so will the defeat of the Ukrainian neo-fascists supported by the West serve as a factor in counteracting modern neo-colonialism,” Shoigu said.

The minister noted that Russia is currentlyfighting “not just the armed forces of Ukraine, but the entire collective West,” which, he added, has recently been joined by several states from the Asia-Pacific region.

In its confrontations with Kiev’s forces, which have been provided with foreign weaponry worth billions of dollars, Russia has dispelled many myths about the superiority of Western military standards, Shoigu said. It has become clear that the use of Western weapons and supposedly advanced NATO tactics and training “cannot ensure superiority on the battlefield,” he added.

The minister also claimed that Kiev’s foreign advisers are essentially using the Ukraine conflict as atesting ground for various military strategies involving Western weapons, while President Vladimir Zelensky supplies the manpower for these experiments. Shoigu said the losses among Ukrainian military personnel are being disregarded by Ukraine’s Western backers.

The Russian minister also claimed that Ukraine’s military resources are almost completely exhausted, according to preliminary estimates. Russia’s Defense Ministry had previously reported that since launching their counteroffensive operation in early June, Ukraine’s forces had lost some 43,000 soldiers as well as nearly 5,000 pieces of heavy equipment, including dozens of Western tanks and combat vehicles.

Shoigu suggested that the US is using the Ukraine conflict to line the pockets of its defense industry by forcing its partners in Europe to procure new products to replace those they have sent to Kiev.

Russia's first lunar lander since 1976 has beamed back its first images from space.

The Luna-25 mission lifted off on Aug. 10 atop a Soyuz-2.1b rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's far eastern Amur Region, marking the first domestically produced probe sent to the moon in modern Russian history. The last moon mission from what is now Russia, Luna-24, took off in 1976 and returned about 6.2 ounces (170 grams) of lunar samples. The launch of Luna-25 faced multiple delays due in part to Russia's war on Ukraine, which has had wide-ranging effects on international spaceflight cooperation.

Luna-25's first images were taken on Sunday (Aug. 13) and published Monday (Aug. 14) by the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS). The black-and-white photo collection shows the Russian flag and mission patch on the spacecraft's structure alongside images of Earth and the moon shining bright against the blackness of space.

"These images show the elements of the device's design against the background of the Earth, from which we have already departed forever, and against the background of the moon, to which we will soon arrive," Russian state space agency Roscosmos wrote in a statement published on Telegram on Aug. 14 (translation by Google).

The images were taken at a distance of about 192,625 miles (310,000 km) from Earth, according to IKI RAS. The moon, by comparison, is around 238,855 miles (384,400 km) away from Earth, on average.

While there was some initial speculation published on social media about the state of Luna-25 in the days following its launch, the images appear to dispel these worries and prove the lander is healthy and on its way to its lunar destination.

"All systems of the spacecraft are operating normally, communication with the station is stable, and the energy balance is positive," IKI RAS wrote in a statement accompanying the images (translation by Google).

If all goes according to plan, Luna-25 will reach the moon on Tuesday (Aug. 15) before orbiting Earth's glowing white satellite for five to seven days. From there, the probe will attempt a landing near one of three craters surrounding the lunar south pole. The probe was designed to operate for at least one year.

Once on the lunar surface, assuming its landing goes well, Luna-25 will analyze lunar soil, search for water ice and conduct experiments about the moon's thin atmosphere. The lander carries eight different instruments including a laser mass spectrometer and a device that can zap lunar soil samples then examine the resulting fumes to analyze chemical composition.

Luna-25 adds to a growing list of international moon missions aimed at either studying or landing near the lunar south pole region.

India's Chandrayaan-3 rover entered lunar orbit on Aug. 7 and is expected to touch down near the moon's south pole on Aug. 23. South Korea launched the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) in August 2022 carrying the NASA-operated ShadowCam designed to help hunt for water ice near the moon's south pole.

On Monday night, Fulton County, Ga., District Attorney Fani Willis handed down ten new indictments of former president Donald Trump over his alleged interference in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump’s attorneys Drew Findling, Jennifer Little, and Marissa Goldberg released a statement early Tuesday, blasting the indictment, as well as the circumstances around it.

“The events that have unfolded today have been shocking and absurd, starting with the leak of a presumed and premature indictment before the witnesses had testified or the grand jurors had deliberated and ending with the District Attorney being unable to offer any explanation,” the statement began. “In light of this major fumble, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office clearly decided to force through and rush this 98-page indictment. This one-sided grand jury presentation relied on witnesses who harbor their own personal and political interests— some of whom ran campaigns touting their efforts against the accused and/or profited from book deals and employment opportunities as a result. We look forward to a detailed review of this indictment which is undoubtedly just as flawed and unconstitutional as this entire process has been.”

The Trump campaign separately released a fact sheet blasting Willis, calling her a radical Democrat who has been campaigning and fundraising on her “bogus indictments” of President Trump.

The fact sheet noted that her partisan political activities even resulted in her disqualification from investigating an election witness last year. The Washington Post reported last yearthat the judge in the case ruled that her actions constituted a “plain — and actual and untenable — conflict,” and even commented that “It’s a ‘What are you thinking?’ moment. The optics are horrific.”

The Fulton County Superior Court Judge described the grand jury investigation as “one-sided” with “very limited due process” for those facing charges.

Wilis even launched her 2023 reelection campaign website mere days before the indictment dropped and has been bragging about her efforts to take down Trump to the media, which have no doubt contributed to her receiving 90% of her campaign contributions from out-of-state despite being a state prosecutor with only one county in her jurisdiction. Questions have also arisen as to whether Willis slow-walked the investigation in order for the indictment to interfere with the presidential election.

A few years ago, it was hard to imagine just how corrupt our nation’s justice system could become. To make matters worse, outlets like PJ Media face suppression and censorship for not pushing the preferred narrative.

The former House speaker intentionally left the Capitol building under-secured before the January 6 riot, her own posh San Francisco home was breached and her husband hurt by an anarcho/commie weirdo, and the federal building that bears her name and houses her local office is so dangerous that the Feds have told most of the government employees to work out of their homes.

Things are so bad on the ground surrounding the 18-story Nancy Pelosi Federal Building on 7th and Mission streets in San Francisco that it could be renamed Nancy’s Crack Emporium. Maybe it already has.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the U.S. Health and Human Services Department advised its hundreds of employees to work from home because their workplace is surrounded by the “city’s most brazen open-air drug markets, where dozens of dealers and users congregate on a daily basis.” Since San Francisco doesn’t appear to be interested in improving, people are being told not to use the more-than-$141-million building taxpayers bankrolled back in 2002.

This videographer saw “49 people smoking and injecting fentanyl” outside the federal building this week. He wrote, “Our community is plagued with bodies, feces, tents, needles, crack pipes, etc. Women and Children are not safe. Fentanyl is showing up in playgrounds and schools.”

Lax laws and sanctuary policies have left the city’s leftist leaders with fewer tools and no political will to do anything about the problem they caused.

HHS Assistant Secretary for Administration Cheryl Campbell’s August 4 memo obtained by the Chronicle said, “In light of the conditions at the (Federal Building) we recommend employees … maximize the use of telework for the foreseeable future.” That’s one way to put it.

Republican California Congressman Kevin Kiley said the problems with San Francisco stem from the same “leaders” who want to take California’s “successes” national.

HHS, which is headed by former CA Attorney General Xavier Becerra, told workers to “maximize the use of telework for the foreseeable future” because of “conditions” around the building. …[Gavin] Newsom even claimed he was sending in the National Guard. If California offers a preview of where our country is headed, San Francisco offers an even starker warning. This is where failed policies, radical politics, and public corruption are in their most advanced stage – and where residents are most rapidly fleeing.

Some of the city’s most popular retailers — Nordstrom, Abercrombie and Fitch, Anchor Brewing, Whole Foods, Anthropologie, H&M, and Uniqlo — closed down some of their outposts due to open-air drug dealing, disgusting conditions on the streets, thievery, and lack of traffic due to people being too afraid to go downtown.

The prolific Perseid meteor shower put on quite the show and we've rounded up some of the best photos from around the world to prove it.

With the moon only 10% illuminated during the time of the peak — the night of Aug.12 and before dawn on Aug. 13 — viewing conditions for the Perseids were much better than last year which unfortunately saw meteors outshined by the full moon.

The Perseids are caused by Earth passing through debris — bits of ice and rock — left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle which last passed close to Earth in 1992. The Perseids peak when Earth passes through the densest and dustiest area on Aug. 11-12. Years without moonlight see higher rates of meteors per hour, and in outburst years (such as in 2016) the rate can be between 150-200 meteors an hour!

Don't worry if you didn't catch any during the peak, the Perseid meteor shower remains active until around Aug. 24, though fewer meteors per hour will be visible compared to the shower's peak.

Georgia Indictment: Trump Tweet Saying Election Hearings Were on TV ‘an Overt Act in Furtherance of the Conspiracy’

The Georgia indictment against former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants cites Trump’s tweets as acts purportedly made “in furtherance of the conspiracy.”

On Monday, a Fulton County, Georgia, grand jury handed down a 98-page, 41-count indictment. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s nearly three-year-long investigation into Trump culminated on Monday when jurors met for approximately ten hours and then handed down the indictment.

Trump is being charged under Georgia’s RICO statute, among others, which is the same statute Willis used to bring charges against Atlanta rap star Young Thug. The RICO statute was designed to dismantle organized crime groups.

The indictment cites 12 of Trump’s tweets, and one from former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, as “overt” acts made “in furtherance of the conspiracy.”

Some tweets were sent by Trump on January 6, 2021, while other posts encouraged people to watch public hearings about the allegations of voting irregularities.

On or about the 5th day of January 2021, DONALD JOHN TRUMP caused to be tweeted from the Twitter account @RealDonaldTrump, “The Vice President has the power to reject fraudulently chosen electors.” This was an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.

On or about the 6th day of January 2021, DONALD JOHN TRUMP caused to be tweeted from the Twitter account @RealDonaldTrump, “If Vice President @Mike_Pence comes through for us, we will Win the Presidency. Many States want to decertify the mistake they made in certifying incorrect & even fraudulent numbers in a process NOT approved by their State Legislatures (which it must be). Mike can send it back!” This was an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.

The indictment also charges several defendants “with crimes merely for making statements that argued the 2020 election was stolen,” as Breitbart News’s Joel Pollak explained. “It claims that actions such as holding public hearings in Pennsylvania amounted to acts in furtherance of an illegal conspiracy.”

The indictment out of Georgia marks Trump’s fourth indictment in the past five months. Trump is facing two federal charges from Special Counsel Jack Smith based on his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and his handling of White House documents. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg also brought over 30 counts of falsifying business records against Trump.

One of Hunter Biden’s attorneys filed a motion Tuesday to withdraw from the younger Biden’s case in the wake of his failed plea deal and diversion agreement.

Christopher J. Clark, Hunter Biden’s attorney, filed a motion for leave to withdraw as counsel for Hunter Biden, citing his position as a witness in the negotiations with Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors on a guilty plea and diversion agreement.

READ THE FULL MOTION:

“Christopher J. Clark, having appeared in this matter for Defendant Robert Hunter Biden, hereby moves for leave to withdraw as counsel in the above-captioned matter. Mr. Biden will continue to be represented by other firms that have entered an appearance on behalf of Mr. Biden, and therefore has ample counsel,” Clark’s motion reads.

“Based on recent developments, it appears that the negotiation and drafting of the plea agreement and diversion agreement will be contested, and Mr. Clark is a percipient witness to those issues. Under the ‘witness-advocate’ rule, it is inadvisable for Mr. Clark to continue as counsel in this case,” his motion adds.

Clark is a partner at the law firm Clark Smith Villazor LLP and previously worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York. He has represented high profile clients, such as Elon Musk and Mark Cuban, in addition to Hunter Biden.

Another one of Biden’s attorneys, Abbe Lowell, was added as additional counsel for the Delaware case Monday. Lowell appeared Sunday on CBS News to defend Hunter Biden before he was put on the case. He also appeared Friday on CNN to defend his client in an interview with primetime host Kaitlan Collins, a former Daily Caller reporter.

Clark was representing Hunter Biden at the late July court appearance where his guilty plea and diversion agreement fell apart. Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika scrutinized an immunity provision tucked into Biden’s diversion agreement, causing a disagreement between DOJ prosecutor Leo Wise and Clark on the scope of Biden’s potential immunity.

Wise told Noreika that Hunter Biden could still be charged under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) related to his foreign business dealings and Clark disagreed, resulting in Hunter Biden pleading not guilty to his two tax misdemeanor charges.

His legal team claimed in a Sunday filing that the diversion agreement is “valid and binding” despite the fallout between Biden’s lawyers and DOJ prosecutors. The DOJ indicated Biden’s case is likely to go to trial and moved to relocate his tax charges to either D.C. or the Southern District of California in a Friday motion.

Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, the leading prosecutor in Hunter Biden’s case, was named special counsel Friday by Attorney General Merrick Garland. Republican Kentucky Rep. James Comer, chair of the House Oversight Committee, led Republican objections to Weiss’ appointment based on IRS whistleblower testimony showing DOJ prosecutors slow-walked and obstructed the Biden investigation under Weiss leadership.

Hawaii governor says state is looking to 'acquire land' that was destroyed in fires

He also announced a moratorium on any out-of-state property sales.

On Monday, Hawaiian governor Josh Green announced that his administration was considering acquiring properties in the seaside resort town of Lahaina that had been destroyed by the recent wildfires.

He vowed to prevent foreign buyers from swooping in to exploit the tragedy, suggesting the state was better suited to take control of the land. (in other words its his land to steal exclusively)

"I'm already thinking of ways for the state to acquire that land so that we can put it into workforce housing, to put it back into families, or make it open spaces in perpetuity as a memorial to the people who were lost," Green said while standing amongst the rubble.

"We want this to be something we remember after the pain passes as a magic place. Lahaina will rebuild. The tragedy right now is the loss of life. The buildings can be rebuilt over time, even the banyan tree may survive, but we don't want this to become a clear space where then people from overseas just come and decide they're gonna take it. The state will take it and preserve it first."

In a separate press conference, Green reiterated his commitment to ensure the land was protected for residents, and revealed that he had spoken with the Hawaiian attorney general regarding "options to do a moratorium on any sales of properties that have been damaged or destroyed."

"It's going to be a very long time before any growth or housing can be built, so you will be pretty poorly informed if you try to steal land from our people and then build here," he said, adding, "I will try to allow no one from outside our state to buy any land until we get through this crisis and decide what Lahaina should be in the future."

According to the Honolulu Civil Beat, over 2,000 structures were destroyed in the fire, three quarters of which were residential. Nearly 100 people have been found dead, though that number is expected to rise as crews continue searching the area.

It had roughly 28,172 registered to vote in the 2020 election according to the Michigan Qualified Voter File, also called the “QVF”, where 15,435 are recorded as having voted, 9,378 of which were voting absentee.

So when a group is paid $11 million to do ‘voter registrations’ by a Presidential campaign and submits enough fraudulent voter applications to effectively increase the voter rolls by 50% in a jurisdiction in a day, that’s apparently how much fraud it takes to refer it to an investigation — but not to actually produce any arrests or indictments within three years.

This is all relevant now because far-left Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel indicted 16 Trump 2020 electors on 8 felonies each because, she says, they signed a certification of their status as electors and tried to create an ‘alternative slate’ of electors knowing there were no legitimate ongoing voter fraud claims and no voter fraud investigations going on in the state.

The same investigators visited Jane Doe’s aunt and tried to interview her, too, as well as one of Jane Doe’s friends.

Leon Black’ attorney’s have filed a potentially consequential document with the court, hitting back at the woman accusing him of raping her at Jeffrey Epstein’s house.

The filing claims she is lying not only about the attack, but also about having Down Syndrome and autism. Other claims are that Jane Doe ‘never left home at age 16’ and ‘has a history of making up stories and diagnoses’.

Black’s defense states that Doe’s attorneys at the law firm Wigdor are ‘hell-bent on smearing him’ and bleeding him out of a settlement.

Jane Doe’s case is the third one brought by Wigdor attorneys against Black.

Ukraine will not engage in talks with the Kremlin, security chief Aleksey Danilov has stated, adding that Russia “must be destroyed”

Kiev is under no pressure from Washington and its allies when it comes to potential peace negotiations with Moscow, Aleksey Danilov, the head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, has claimed.

The Ukrainian authorities will deal with this issue on their own, he told Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper in an interview published on Tuesday.

The security chief claimed that all reports of Kiev being allegedly pressured into striking a peace deal with Moscow by its Western backers “exist only on the internet” and are not supported by any real evidence. He also suggested that “Russian trolls” might be behind such rumors.

Danilov’s comments come just days after Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba admitted that Kiev’s foreign backers might push the nation toward negotiations with Moscow as early as this autumn. “These voices [calling for talks] are getting louder,” he told Ukrainian media last week.

Germany’s Die Welt daily also reported in early August that “the West will pressure Ukraine into a ceasefire” at some point in the coming winter.

Ukraine does not need Western nations to deal with the issue of potential negotiations with Russia, the security chief said, adding that Kiev would never hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Danilov maintained that the conflict between the two neighbors can only have a military solution.

“Russia must be destroyed like a modern-day Carthage,” he stated, referring to the infamous proverbial phrase used by Roman Senator Cato the Elder to demand a third war with the ancient Mediterranean state of Carthage. “You cannot leave your enemy standing behind you,” Danilov added.

Danilov has been known as a hardliner when it comes to Ukraine’s dealings with Russia. The security chief, as well as other top Ukrainian officials, have repeatedly made derogatory remarks about Russians during – and even well before – the conflict broke out in February 2022.

In early August, he called Russians “Asians”and claimed that “humanity” is the key difference between them and Ukrainians. Danilov also repeatedly promised to “kill”Russians anywhere across the globe.

Moscow has stated throughout the conflict that it is ready to start peace talks with Kiev immediately, as long as its security interests and the new status quo on the ground are respected. In autumn 2022, four former Ukrainian regions, including the two Donbass republics, formally joined Russia following referendums.

Kiev has demanded the unconditional Russian withdrawal from territories Kiev claims as its own, including Crimea, and called it the only acceptable framework for talks. Russia has rejected these conditions as unrealistic.

In October 2022, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky banned any negotiations with Putin. Last week, Kuleba insisted that Zelensky will “never be able” to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russian leader.

Though a “special” grand jury — with a clear anti-Trump bias — had already recommended charges against Trump, the grand jury that voted to indict him on Monday only heard testimony for one day. Hours before the grand jury voted, however, the county court posted, then deleted, a document that resembled the final indictment, which may have violated Trump’s rights and suggests a rigged process.

Willis was reprimanded by a judge last year for hosting a fundraiser for a Democrat who was running against one of the potential targets of her grand jury investigation. She is also running for reelection in 2024. Like Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who ran explicitly on a promise to find a way to prosecute Trump, Willis’s own political and fundraising interests are hard to separate from her handling of the case.

4. The indictment was announced shortly before midnight, for no apparent reason. There was no reason for Willis to rush the indictment before midnight, or to hold a late-night press conference, other than to ensure that the indictment would dominate news coverage the following day. The fact that the indictment was filed in the “dead of night” reinforced the sense that this is fundamentally a political prosecution, meant to cause maximum damage to Trump as the 2024 presidential race begins.

5. The indictment includes lawyers, aides, and even supporters. The Georgia indictment seeks to convict and imprison members of Trump’s legal team for the supposed crime of crafting a strategy for challenging the 2020 election results, including by claiming that there were voting irregularities. By that standard, almost every election lawyer in the country could be a target for prosecution — Democrats also claimed voting machine problems in 2020, for example — but only Republicans were charged.

6. Kanye West’s former publicist is included in the indictment. Trevian Kutti, who worked for “Ye” (though not at the time, apparently) is accused of pressuring an election worker, Ruby Freeman, to testify about participating in supposed ballot-counting irregularities. The indictment accuses a pastor, Stephen Lee, of asking Harrison Floyd of Blacks for Trump to convince Kutti to pressure Freeman. Hunter Biden, like many powerful individuals and corporations, hired special consultants to edit Wikipedia without any fingerprints.

Powerful individuals and corporations routinely tap specialized consultants to edit Wikipedia for more favorable entries, often through anonymous accounts designed to appear organic.

Emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop show that he made continuous efforts to airbrush his image and the Wikipedia articles associated with his Ukrainian benefactors.

The outreach by high-priced consultants making stealth edits to Wikipedia, for a period, paid off.

In 2014, working at the time with FTI Consulting, a major public relations and lobbying firm, Hunter sought changes to his personal Wikipedia entry.

“Ryan- below is a start. Eric is my partner and cc'd- he's going to make additional edits,” wrote Hunter to FTI’s Ryan Toohey in May 2014, referring him to Eric Schwerin, the president of Hunter’s firm Rosemont Seneca. Hunter forwarded along edits seeking the deletion of unflattering lines in his Wikipedia biography, such as his ties to disgraced Ponzi scheme financier Allen Stanford.

Toohey, emails from Hunter’s laptop show, confirmed that his company would get to work.

Wikipedia maintains a semi-transparent system to show the edit history of any article on the website. The history shows that shortly after Hunter’s request, several anonymous Wikipedia accounts began a series of edits to his page, adding changes requested by Hunter and deleting embarrassing lines.

Hunter, the emails show, sought to delete a line explaining that the National Endowment for Democracy, which he previously worked with, had ties to the CIA. He also pushed to include more official titles from his various NGO board memberships.

On May 28, 2014, an account called "AmeliaChevalier" edited Hunter’s Wikipedia to delete any reference to "disgraced financier Allen Stanford." Over the next few weeks, more anonymous Wikipedia accounts began rapidly editing Hunter’s page, records show. Archives of Wikipedia show that a month after engaging with FTI, Hunter's Wikipedia page had dramatically changed, with negative references scrubbed, and lengthy passages added to discuss his volunteer work, service in government, and appointments to various boards and political committees.

On Monday, Hawaiian governor Josh Green announced that his administration was considering acquiring properties in the seaside resort town of Lahaina that had been destroyed by the recent wildfires.

He vowed to prevent foreign buyers from swooping in to exploit the tragedy, suggesting the state was better suited to take control of the land.

"I'm already thinking of ways for the state to acquire that land so that we can put it into workforce housing, to put it back into families, or make it open spaces in perpetuity as a memorial to the people who were lost," Green said while standing amongst the rubble.

"We want this to be something we remember after the pain passes as a magic place. Lahaina will rebuild. The tragedy right now is the loss of life. The buildings can be rebuilt over time, even the banyan tree may survive, but we don't want this to become a clear space where then people from overseas just come and decide they're gonna take it. The state will take it and preserve it first."

In a separate press conference, Green reiterated his committment to ensure the land was protected for residents, and revealed that he had spoken with the Hawaiian attorney general regarding "options to do a moratorium on any sales of properties that have been damaged or destroyed."

"It's going to be a very long time before any growth or housing can be built, so you will be pretty poorly informed if you try to steal land from our people and then build here," he said, adding, "I will try to allow no one from outside our state to buy any land until we get through this crisis and decide what Lahaina should be in the future."

According to the Honolulu Civil Beat, over 2,000 structures were destroyed in the fire, three quarters of which were residential. Nearly 100 people have been found dead, though that number is expected to rise as crews continue searching the area.

AHPRA made a complaint to themselves under the pseudonym “John Smith” about a GP prescribing ivermectin to treat covid

A Sydney-based general practitioner (“GP”) is facing charges for prescribing ivermectin to treat covid. A dubious claim was made to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (“AHPRA”) about the GP. When the GP investigated who had made the complaint, it appears as if AHPRA had made the complaint themselves under the name “John Smith.”

AHPRA had obtained the prescription information that formed the basis of the dubious complaint, as well as other prescriptions, directly from the pharmacy where the GP had left the prescriptions to be fulfilled. These prescriptions were made out before the Therapeutic Goods Administration (“TGA”) banned the use of ivermectin to treat covid, as announced on 10 September 2021.

Australian Doctor Receives Bizarre Complaint

The following is a copy of a tweet posted by Dr. My-Le Trinh a doctor in Sydney, Australia, who graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991. She has been a general practitioner for 27 years. On 27 October 2021, she was suspended from practice because she prescribed an off-label drug containing ivermectin in treating a patient with covid. Her tribunal begins on Friday 18 August 2023.

Background: With 27 years of experience as a GP, I have never had a complaint made against me. I co-own the practice for 10 years before selling it on, but I have continued to work in the practice. In total, I have worked there for 22 years. Additionally, I have devoted over 12 years to volunteering in impoverished areas of Cambodia, offering medical care to those in need.

Two complaints were made against me on the same day, within hours of each other through the same AHPRA portal system. In New South Wales, it’s uncommon to have complaints from via the AHPRA portal.

The John Smith Complaint

The complaint, filed under the name “John Smith,” has an email address that bounced back, a landline number that was disconnected, and no address. Furthermore, neither the Medical Council nor the HCCC [New South Wales Health Care Complaints Commission] were willing to confirm whether John Smith is a real person or not. The following were the allegations:

“This physician is promoting and writing prescriptions for ivermectin for community groups online for inappropriate clinical use of ivermectin and doxycycline and azithromycin. We called the medical centre to confirm and they confirmed the doctor is anti-vaccine and promotes other alternative unaccepted methods of treating/preventing covid. We have attached a friend’s prescription for ivermectin, said friend does not suffer from worms, its principal use as prescribed by the doctor is for preventing covid. We know of at least 3 cases where the doctor has done that and we have evidence of such. Due to patient confidentiality, we reserve the right to omit patient details. The complaint came with a redacted ivermectin script, fortunately, the Medicare number was accidentally left unredacted. Upon closer examination, I discovered that the script belonged to a family member for whom I had prescribed the medication. It turned out that I had taken the script to the chemist, but due to the unavailability of supplies, I had to leave it there with the assurance that it would be ready the following week. However, shortly after, the TGA banned ivermectin.

Upon receiving the complaint, I promptly visited the chemist to inquire about the script. The chemist informed me that AHPRA had requested all ivermectin scripts to be handed over, and an AHPRA agent had indeed collected the script.

Ukraine struggles to intercept Russian missiles – Kiev

The rockets Moscow uses to strike targets in Ukraine are capable of rapidly changing course, Kiev’s Air Force spokesman has said

It is becoming increasingly difficult for Ukrainian troops to intercept and shoot down Russian missiles, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yury Ignat told Radio Liberty on Tuesday.Projectiles launched by Moscow’s forces are capable of changing course in a matter of seconds, thereby becoming “invisible” to Ukraine’s air defenses, he admitted.

The Russian military is now employing more sophisticated tactics, “planning their strikes, programming the [missile] courses … to bypass air defenses in the most effective way and use weak spots,” he said.

The projectiles “are constantly changing course,” he explained, adding that a Ukrainian air defense serviceman can barely “write three words” to describe the incoming rocket’s trajectory before it has already changed. “Then, it changes direction once more, and again, and again,” he said.

In one such case, the Russian missiles flew as far as Ukraine’s westernmost Lviv Region before turning back and striking a military airfield in Khmelnitsky Region in the country’s center. Additionally, at some point, a Russian rocket “can disappear from the radars and become invisible to radio locators for a certain period of time,” he pointed out.

According to the Air Force spokesman, Russian drones are now also “going in circles”to make Ukrainian air defenses lose track of them.

Kiev is currently employing some of the supposedly top-notch air defense systems supplied to it by Washington and its allies. The list includes the US-made Patriot and German-made Iris-T air defense systems. Over the course of the ongoing conflict, the West has poured extensive military and financial aid into Ukraine, with the US alone allocating around $100 billion. Western nations have also repeatedly stated that they consider air defense a priority when providing military aid to Kiev.

In late July, Ignat admitted that Moscow had a significant advantage over Kiev in terms of electronic warfare. Russia had “plenty” of “powerful systems,” he said at that time, conceding that Ukraine “started late” in this regard.

Such systems are especially good at intercepting an enemy’s drones and forcing them to go down. The Russian Defense Ministry regularly reports downing Ukrainian drones without firing a shot.

Ukraine could give up territory to Russia – NATO official

The idea of trading land for peace is already being discussed within the bloc, Stian Jenssen told Norwegian media

Kiev could end up relinquishing some of its former territory in exchange for NATO membership, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s chief of staff, Stian Jenssen said at a debate on Tuesday. In his own statements on the issue, Stoltenberg has insisted that Kiev will set its own terms for “victory.”

“I think that a solution could be for Ukraine to give up territory, and get NATO membership in return,”Jenssen said at the debate, according to Norway’s VG newspaper. This discussion is already underway within NATO, he said, suggesting that it could be a “possible solution” to the conflict.

No NATO leaders have publicly endorsed the idea of Kiev giving up its claims to the territories of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, or Zaporozhye, which were incorporated into the Russian Federation following referendums last September. Likewise, while Western officials have cast doubt on Ukraine’s ability to seize Crimea – an historical Russian territory which rejoined the Russian Federation in 2014, none have urged Kiev to abandon its claim to the peninsula.

Such an idea has apparently been floated behind the scenes, however. Swiss outlet Neue Zürcher Zeitung claimed in February, citing sources, that CIA Director William Burns had offered Russia a “land for peace” deal in which Moscow would keep “20% of Ukrainian territory.” The White House, the CIA, and the Kremlin all denied that such a proposal had been made.

Whether such a deal would be accepted by Kiev or Moscow remains doubtful. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated last year that securing the military neutrality of Ukraine was a key factor behind his decision to send troops into the country, and that having a NATO-aligned Ukraine on Russia’s borders would present an unacceptable security risk.

Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council chief Aleksey Danilov stated on Tuesday that Kiev will never negotiate with Putin’s government, that none of Ukraine’s Western backers are pushing for peace, and that “Russia must be destroyed like a modern-day Carthage."

Achieving this goal is proving extremely difficult for Kiev. Two months into its long-anticipated counteroffensive against Russian forces, the Ukrainian military has lost more than 43,000 men and nearly 5,000 pieces of heavy equipment, according to the latest figures from the Russian Defense Ministry.

Stoltenberg insists that NATO will “ensure that Ukraine gets the weapons it needs to be able to retake territory, liberate the lands and win this war and prevail as a sovereign, independent nation.”

While he has delivered variations on this statement throughout the conflict, NATO has been more evasive on when Ukraine can join the military bloc. After a summit in Lithuania last month at which Kiev was denied an offer of membership, NATO’s 31 members put out a joint statement explaining that Ukraine can join only “when allies agree and conditions are met.”

Democrats’ crusade to weaponize the criminal justice system to put their chief political opponent in jail escalated again Monday night, with the release of an indictment pursued by Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis against former President Donald Trump. The indictment, targeting not just Trump but 18 of his lawyers and advisers, is a clear message that if you’re a Republican, challenging election results — something Democrats have done after every GOP presidential victory this century — is now a criminal offense.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice is tripping over itself to insulate Biden and his son from scrutiny or criminal consequences for their apparent scheme to get rich off of peddling American political influence abroad.

The hacks at DOJ, by the way, also indicted Trump over a classified documents dispute, after raiding his house and rifling through his wife’s closet. Soon after, Biden was found to have classified documents lying around in his garage, but in his case, the feds are content to play nice. Oh, and Hillary Clinton also had a classified records scandal — in which her team destroyed emails and devices with BleachBit and literal hammers — but enjoyed the protection of then-FBI Director James Comey.

Speaking of Hillary, her campaign shopped a fake dossier full of lies about Trump to the FBI, which media and intelligence agencies used to smear Trump as a Russian stooge during and after the 2016 election. FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, the one person handed criminal punishment for the operation, got 12 months probation.

Oh, and Hillary was one of many, many Democrats who screeched for Donald Trump’s entire presidency that the 2016 election was stolen and Trump’s win was illegitimate.

Lest you should think Trump is the only example of the double standard, remember that the DOJ raided the home of a pro-life pastor for pushing a threatening pro-abortion agitator away from his young son, while militant abortion activists firebombed Christian pregnancy clinics. Recall how they charged a man with homicide for defending subway riders from a threatening vagrant, but do nothing to stop criminals who terrorize law-abiding citizens. Think about the ongoing campaign to imprison anyone adjacent to a Republican protest that turned into a mob at the U.S. Capitol in 2021, after letting left-wing protests descend into fiery riots across the country for an entire summer. Excuse me, fiery but mostly peaceful riots.

The message couldn’t be clearer: Republicans can do nothing right in the eyes of the justice system, and Democrats can do nothing wrong. We have a two-tiered justice system, and 4 in 5 Americans know it.

Problems of hypocrisy are another day’s work in politics. The use of the criminal justice system — the leveler on which the basic functions of a society depend — to turn that hypocrisy into arrest warrants is something else entirely.

The Bill Clinton administration’s repeal in 1999 of the 1933 Banking Act, commonly known as the Glass-Steagall Act, ushered in the greatest kleptocracy America has ever known.

The Cambridge dictionary defines “kleptocracy” as: “a society whose leaders make themselves rich and powerful by stealing from the rest of the people.” In fact, the actual goal of repealing Glass-Steagall was to do just that.

The momentum for the repeal of Glass-Steagall came from the announcement in 1998 that Wall Street veteran, Sandy Weill, wanted to merge his trading firms, Salomon Brothers and Smith Barney (under the Travelers Group umbrella), with Citicorp, parent of the federally-insured Citibank commercial bank. Because of the Glass-Steagall Act, such a merger was illegal at the time.

The 1933 Congress that passed the Glass-Steagall Act had watched the stock market lose 89 percent of its value over the years following the 1929 stock crash. It had seen thousands of banks collapse and the onset of the Great Depression — all because of the Wall Street kleptocracy of that time.

To restore the public’s trust in banks, the Glass-Steagall Act did two simultaneous things: it created federally-insured deposits at commercial banks and it barred those banks from combining with their casino brethren on Wall Street – the brokerage firms and investment banks.

Weill had a self-confessed personal motive for the merger he proposed in 1998, which created the so-called “universal bank,” Citigroup. Weill told his merger partner, John Reed of Citibank, that his motivation for the deal was: “We could be so rich,” according to Reed in an interview with Bill Moyers.

The budding kleptocracy in 1998 didn’t waste any time in putting the plan into motion and reaping the windfall financial rewards. Clinton’s Treasury Secretary, Robert Rubin, who pushed for the repeal of Glass-Steagall, went directly from the Treasury Department to take a seat on Citigroup’s Board, where he was lavishly compensated to the tune of $120 million over the next decade. (The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, that was created after these Wall Street “universal banks” blew up the U.S. financial system in 2008, made a criminal referral of Rubin to the U.S. Department of Justice, asking that Rubin’s conduct at Citigroup be investigated. Nothing more came of it. The Wall Street kleptocracy has ruled the U.S. Department of Justice since the repeal of Glass-Steagall. Instead of indicting mega bank executives, the Justice Department now hands out non-prosecution and deferred-prosecution agreements to the banks — and winks at the bank as it violates each probation agreement.)

Weill made out much better than Rubin. Weill walked away from Citigroup as a billionaire, just a few years before it collapsed.

The war on drugs being fought on a daily basis at our borders has been able to be quantified with human lives. The Center Square reports that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials alone have seized enough lethal drugs this fiscal year through June to kill more than 6.4 billion people.

If that number is a bit too hard to comprehend, here is another: The amounts of lethal doses they’ve seized of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine are enough to kill the U.S. population 19 times. The agents have confiscated 22,000 pounds of fentanyl at ports of entry nationwide, seized 175,000 pounds of methamphetamine and over 70,000 pounds of cocaine. These amounts are greater than what was seized in all of fiscal 2022.

The Center Square notes that these seizures reported exclude additional ones made by state and other federal agencies:

In Texas, for example, over 422 million lethal doses of fentanyl have been seized through its border security mission Operation Lone Star.

In Arizona, one multiagency effort resulted the seizure of enough illicit drugs, including fentanyl, to kill over 40 million people.

In one single carload bust in Los Angeles, authorities seized enough fentanyl to kill over 600,000 people.

In Florida, one multiagency bust seized enough fentanyl to kill the state’s entire population, and that was after a previous bust that seized enough to kill half the state’s population.

Last year, DEA agents seized over 58 million fake prescription pills laced with fentanyl, and 13,000 pounds of fentanyl powder in 2022, “enough fentanyl to supply a potentially lethal dose to every member of the U.S. population. These seizures occurred in every state in the country.”

George Sorors' Open Society Foundations, which are now controlled by his son Alexander, will cease most of its operations in the European Union.

The move, which comes after foundation-funded NGOs ferried migrants to Europe for over a decade (mission accomplished?), comes after the $25 billion family foundation announced a headcount reduction of at least 40% following Alexander's ascent.

Citing a "radical shift of strategic direction," OSF says that their new operating model will require "significant further restructuring," and "closing all regional and global programs," according to a letter sent to grantees in Hungary which was seen by Bloomberg.

"Ultimately, the new approved strategic direction provides for withdrawal and termination of large parts of our current work within the European Union, shifting our focus and allocation of resources to other parts of the world," reads the message, which cites another note sent to staff at OSF's Berlin headquarters.

"OSF will largely terminate funding within the European Union, and further funding will be extremely limited," it reads, without elaborating, except to say that the organization is pivoting because "EU institutions and governments were already allocating significant resources to human rights, freedom and pluralism" inside the bloc.

And of course, Bloomberg sings OSF's praises:

In the EU, OSF financed a wide range of philanthropic programs in the bloc’s eastern former communist members, including Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and elsewhere. They included initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy, promoting human rights and alleviating the poverty and discrimination faced by the Roma minority.

It also funds projects in non-EU European countries such as in the Balkans and further afield in central Asia.

The organization based its European headquarters in Budapest until 2018, when it moved to Berlin following a years-long campaign against Soros and the OSF’s liberal values by nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government in Hungary. It also has offices in Barcelona, Brussels and Belgium. -Bloomberg

Over the past three decades, OSF has spent over $19 billion on various projects, including $209 million in 2021 towards projects in Europe and the central Asia region.

The Fulton County, Georgia Clerk's Office is offering a new explanation for the supposed "fictitious" indictment posted on the court's website before the grand jury voted Monday to hand up an indictment for former President Trump and 18 others.

On Monday afternoon, the Fulton County Court’s website posted a document listing the same charges included in the indictment released late Monday night, which included charges of violating the Georgia RICO Act—the Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations Act; Solicitation of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer; Conspiracy to Commit Filing False Documents and more.

Reuters first reported on the document, before the Fulton County Court quickly removed it from the website, and released a statement, blasting the document as "fictitious" and issuing a warning to the media "that documents that do not bear an official case number, filing date, and the name of The Clerk of Courts, in concert, are not considered official filings and should not be treated as such."

The indictment was handed up and unsealed Monday night, bearing the same charges as listed on the alleged "fictitious" document, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was asked for an explanation.

"No, I can't tell you anything about what you refer to," Willis said. "What I can tell you is that we had a grand jury here in Fulton County. They deliberated till almost 8:00, if not right after 8:00, an indictment was returned. It was true billed. And you now have an indictment."

But the fallout continued into the day Tuesday, after Trump attorneys and allies blasted the system.

The court, Tuesday afternoon, released a lengthy statement in an attempt to clear up questions.

"The Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts announces that midday on August 14, 2023, a media outlet utilizing the Fulton County Press que obtained a docket sheet and shared it with other media outlets who then released the sample working document related to the former United States President, Donald Trump - reporting that an indictment had been returned by the Special Grand Jury in Fulton County Georgia," the statement read. "Upon learning of the mishap, Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts, Ché Alexander, immediately removed the document and issued correspondence notifying the media that a fictitious document was in circulation and that no indictment had been returned by the Grand Jury."

"In anticipation of issues that arise with entering a potentially large indictment, Alexander used charges that pre-exist in Odyssey to test the system and conduct a trial run," the statement continued. "Unfortunately, the sample working document led to the docketing of what appeared to be an indictment, but which was, in fact, only a fictitious docket sheet."

The court said that "because the media has access to documents before they are published, and while it may have appeared that something official had occurred because the document bore a case number and filing date, it did not include a signed ‘true’ or ‘no’ bill nor an official stamp with Clerk Alexander’s name, thereby making the document unofficial and a test sample only."

"Hours later, after receiving the True Bill presented to presiding Judge, Robert McBurney, Clerk Alexander executed the filing with a file stamp and moments later she made the filing public," the court continued. "The Office understands the confusion that this matter caused and the sensitivity of all court filings."

The court said that they "remain committed to operating with an extreme level of efficiency, accuracy, and transparency."

"Media members can expect to be notified of any/all filings in real time and will be provided access to filings via equitable communication," the court said.

It is still unclear why the "sample working document" and the "fictitious docket sheet" matched the exact charges brought against the former president and 18 others.

“I think we’re all a little bit blindsided by it, but we’re resilient and we’re going to move forward,” Goodhue Mayor Ellen Anderson Buck told Fox 9.

“I want to reiterate that we will have police coverage in the city of Goodhue,” Buck said. “That is not an issue.”

Police Chief Josh Smith, who will continue to serve in his position until Aug. 24, told city officials that he could not find anyone to sign up to join the police force.

“This has been three weeks now, we have zero applicants, and I have zero prospects,” Smith said on July 26. “I’ve called every PD around for the youngest guys out there, getting into the game. There’s nobody getting into the game.”

“If you want to keep the PD, and this is something we want to continue going with, something needs to change dramatically and drastically, and it’s got to happen now.”

One Goodhue City council member praised the police force for maintaining law and order in the town of Goodhue.

“I can probably speak for everyone when I say that they provided excellent safety and security to our community. And the small town policing that they did, we want that back.”

Police Chief Smith also told the Goodhue city council that the police force was losing on recruitment numbers because of low pay and competition from larger cities.

The FBI has warned Nebraska Republican Rep. Don Bacon that Chinese spies may have hacked his personal and political email accounts.

The lawmaker announced via X on Monday that Beijing had secured access to his account for roughly a month prior to June 16 due to shortcomings in Microsoft software.

"I thank the FBI for notifying me that the CCP hacked into my personal and campaign emails from May 15th to June 16th of this year. The CCP hackers utilized a vulnerability in the Microsoft software, and this was not due to 'user error,'" he stated. "Thus, there were other victims in this cyber operation. The Communist government in China are not our friends and are very active in conducting cyber espionage. I’ll work overtime to ensure Taiwan gets every $ of the $19B in weapons backlog they’ve ordered, and more."

Bacon later attributed the hack to his anti-China stances, stated that "I stand against the Uighur genocide and abuses conducted in Tibet and Hong Kong. And, I support an independent Taiwan."

China is conducting an ongoing genocide of the Muslim-majority Uighur ethnic group in the northwestern Xinjiang province. The country has also faced longstanding scrutiny for alleged human rights violations in its outlying regions and continues to claim sovereignty over the island of Taiwan.

"Plain and simple, the Chinese Communist Party is a bully. I will not back down. I will always stand up for freedom and human rights around the world," he vowed.

President Trump can, in fact, pardon himself from the GA charges if he is elected president.

1. The Constitution's silent about whether a president can be indicted.

2. The DOJ has taken the position under both parties that you cannot indict a sitting president because it would cripple the executive branch and make his ability to defend himself effectively impossible.

3. Given the DOJ's position, and the Supremacy Clause in the Constitution, I would argue strongly that the idea that a president cannot be indicted at the federal level because it would cripple the executive branch, but can be indicted by local DAs, would have exactly the same effect as a federal indictment, except there are thousands of local and state prosecutors making the crippling of a president even more likely.

4. FURTHERMORE, if indicted and even convicted, the idea that a president cannot pardon himself from state charges is absurd, again, not only because of the Supremacy Clause, but the same considerations that apply to a federal conviction would obviously apply to a state conviction.

Therefore, I disagree with Jonathan Turley's view and others who keep repeating it.
