NEW YORK (Manhattan DA / News Release) – Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the guilty plea and sentencing of NYPD Inspector Howard Redmond, 58, for obstructing a New York City Department of Investigation (“DOI”) probe into former Mayor Bill de Blasio’s use of his security detail by repeatedly impeding investigators and tampering with evidence.

Redmond, who was the chief of Mayor de Blasio’s security detail, pleaded guilty to two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence; two counts of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree; and two counts of Official Misconduct. As part of his guilty plea, Redmond was terminated from the NYPD, admitted to his conduct in a sworn Affirmation submitted to the court, and issued an apology to DOI. He was sentenced to a conditional discharge and will be required to fulfill ten days of community service.

Ecuador’s former energy minister testified that the US government conspired with a right-wing political party to run a disinformation campaign against the leftist Correísta movement of ex President Rafael Correa.

He said that US “federal agents” pledged to help “influence” the 2017 presidential elections and support the candidacy of conservative millionaire banker Guillermo Lasso in exchange for the promise to turn over journalist Julian Assange, who had been given asylum by Correa and was stuck living for years in Ecuador’s embassy in London.

The former energy minister, Carlos Pareja Yannuzzelli, had fled a corruption investigation in Ecuador and was living as a fugitive from justice in the United States in late 2016 when he was offered large sums of money and US government protection in return for reading a carefully prepared “script” that made false accusations of corruption against Correa and his Vice President Jorge Glas, who was later imprisoned on highly dubious charges.

Pareja testified that the federal agents also coerced him into making false accusations against a US citizen, so they could justify their involvement in the Ecuadorian case. This led to the US national being arrested and imprisoned for three-and-a-half years.

Lasso ended up losing the 2017 election (before going on to win the 2021 election), but his victorious opponent, Lenín Moreno, later betrayed Assange anyway, letting British authorities raid the embassy, imprison the WikiLeaks journalist, and prepare to extradite him to the United States.

Democratic-Socialist Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders apparently moved $200,000 from his campaign into the non-profit institute that employs his wife and son.

Sanders frequently demands that the rich ‘pay their fair share’ and rants against the capitalist system, but has done extremely well for himself financially in the process.

The is report also raises questions about what the non-profit in question actually does.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders quietly funneled $200,000 from his campaign’s coffers to his wife’s nonprofit institute, which appears to do very little work and pays six figures’ worth of compensation to her son, Fox News Digital has found.

The independent senator’s committee cut two $100,000 checks to the Sanders Institute for reported charitable contributions in January and March, its Federal Election Commission records show. The expenditures are the largest from the Sanders campaign to any entity this election cycle.

The senator’s wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, and stepson, David Driscoll, co-established the Sanders Institute in 2017 to act as a think tank to promote progressive voices, The Washington Post wrote at its launch…

Just two years after its launch, in 2019, the institute announced it would suspend operations as Sen. Sanders sought the Democratic nomination for president to avoid the “appearance of impropriety” and presumably to take away a line of attack from his rivals over its money.

The institute has since quietly resumed operations while seemingly sidestepping media attention. Its latest publicly available tax forms from 2021 show the nonprofit burnt nearly 40% of its donations on salaries while appearing to conduct minimal work and having very few identifiable accomplishments.

ECOWAS intervention in Niger risks a continental conflict, the ousted leader’s adviser has warned

A military intervention in Niger could set off a broader war, Antinekar al-Hassan, a political adviser to the ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

“I don’t think ECOWAS will make the mistake of intervening militarily in Niger, because if they intervene militarily, that means all of Africa will be at war,” al-Hassan said.

Bazum was arrested on July 26, by a group of Nigerien military officers led by General Abdourahamane Tchiani. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has threatened to deploy troops unless he was restored to power, but their ultimatum to Niamey expired on Sunday.

In the meantime, the bloc has closed borders and stopped all trade and transactions with Niger. Al-Hassan said he was against these sanctions, calling them “illegal and illegitimate.”

“We’re against the sanctions. They will hurt the people of Niger, not the junta,” he said.

The new military government has refused any talks with the ousted president, who has no intent of stepping down, according to al-Hassan. “He did not sign anything and is not preparing to resign. He would rather die than resign,” al-Hassan said.

In an op-ed supposedly written from prison and published in the Washington Post on August 4, Bazoum had appealed to the “US government and the entire international community to help us restore our constitutional order.”

ECOWAS military chiefs reportedly finalizedtheir war plans last Friday, but noted the actual intervention requires a political decision by the bloc’s governments. Chad and Guinea have opposed both sanctions and intervention in Niger, while Burkina Faso and Mali said they would regard any military move against Niamey as a declaration of war against both of them as well.

According to the French broadcaster RFI, which was banned in Niger, ECOWAS was mustering a force of about 25,000 troops, most of them from neighboring Nigeria.

The new military government in Niamey accused France on Wednesday of setting free terrorists so they could attack a military camp in Niger and violating the country’s airspace as part of a campaign of destabilization.

Paris denied that any terrorists were set free, or that any attack took place, and insisted the French aircraft were operating in Nigerien airspace under a military pact with Bazoum’s government. France refused to recognize the generals’ repudiation of the deal last week, and vowed to keep some 1,500 troops in the Sahel country.

Then-Vice President Joe Biden’s office sent talking points to the State Department about Ukrainian oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky days after Hunter Biden “called D.C.” from the site of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma’s board meeting, emails show.

The State Department received talking points about Zlochevsky from then-VP Biden’s communications staffer Kate Bedingfield on Dec. 6, 2014, according to internal emails released by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs.

“Proposed TPs for the VP if he gets asked after the stories break in the next few days. Especially interested in your feedback on how to answer the third Q if he gets asked,” Bedingfield said, according to the emails.

“Q: Do you think Zlochevsky is corrupt? A: I’m not going to get into naming names or accusing individuals. We have been working consistently to push the Ukranian [sic] leadership to make meaningful changes in the Prosecutor General’s office and across the government to help ensure that the Ukranian [sic] people are represented fairly and fully,” Bedingfield continued in a list of sample questions.

Bedingfield was later hired to be President Biden’s White House communications director, then departed in February 2023 to become a CNN pundit.

Joe Biden on Dec. 9, 2015, spoke to Ukraine’s parliament with a focus on tackling corruption and making sure “oligarchs and non-oligarchs … play by the same rules,” White House archives show.

Hunter Biden “called D.C.” in December 2015 from a Dubai Four Seasons hotel at the request of Zlochevsky and Burisma executive Vadim Pozharsyki, former business associate Devon Archer testified to the House Oversight Committee on July 31. Biden was making more than $80,000 per month as a Burisma board member, which amounted to more than $1 million annually, according to bank records from House Oversight.

Emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop archive indicate Pozharskyi planned for the Burisma board meeting to happen on the afternoon of Dec. 4 at the hotel in Dubai. Flight and hotel notifications from Hunter Biden’s inbox indicate he flew into Dubai on Dec. 3 and left Dec. 6, in accordance with Pozharskyi’s plans. Biden emailed a friend Dec. 3 saying he landed in Dubai, and emailed attorney Christopher Boies on Dec. 4 about another meeting he had planned in Dubai the next day.

Archer described to House Oversight a coffee appointment he had with Hunter Biden, Zlochevsky and Pozharskyi following Burisma’s board meeting that appeared to take place Dec. 4, 2015.

Secret Pakistan Cable Documents U.S. Pressure to Remove Imran Khan

“All will be forgiven,” said a U.S. diplomat, if the no-confidence vote against Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan succeeds.

The U.S. State Department encouraged the Pakistani government in a March 7, 2022, meeting to remove Imran Khan as prime minister over his neutrality on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to a classified Pakistani government document obtained by The Intercept.

The meeting, between the Pakistani ambassador to the United States and two State Department officials, has been the subject of intense scrutiny, controversy, and speculation in Pakistan over the past year and a half, as supporters of Khan and his military and civilian opponents jockeyed for power. The political struggle escalated on August 5 when Khan was sentenced to three years in prison on corruption charges and taken into custody for the second time since his ouster. Khan’s defenders dismiss the charges as baseless. The sentence also blocks Khan, Pakistan’s most popular politician, from contesting elections expected in Pakistan later this year.

One month after the meeting with U.S. officials documented in the leaked Pakistani government document, a no-confidence vote was held in Parliament, leading to Khan’s removal from power. The vote is believed to have been organized with the backing of Pakistan’s powerful military. Since that time, Khan and his supporters have been engaged in a struggle with the military and its civilian allies, whom Khan claims engineered his removal from power at the request of the U.S.

The text of the Pakistani cable, produced from the meeting by the ambassador and transmitted to Pakistan, has not previously been published. The cable, known internally as a “cypher,” reveals both the carrots and the sticks that the State Department deployed in its push against Khan, promising warmer relations if Khan was removed, and isolation if he was not.

The document, labeled “Secret,” includes an account of the meeting between State Department officials, including Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, and Asad Majeed Khan, who at the time was Pakistan’s ambassador to the U.S.

The document was provided to The Intercept by an anonymous source in the Pakistani military who said that they had no ties to Imran Khan or Khan’s party. The Intercept is publishing the body of the cable below, correcting minor typos in the text because such details can be used to watermark documents and track their dissemination.

House Republicans say the president’s son Hunter sold favors and havepublished receipts

The House Oversight Committee on Wednesday published receipts showing Hunter Biden, the son of current US President Joe Biden, receiving money from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan by trading on the family name.

The committee says it has identified $20 million in payments from foreign sources to Hunter Biden’s company, which they describe as a front to sell access to the “Biden network”while his father was Barack Obama’s vice-president (2009-2017).

“During Joe Biden’s vice presidency, Hunter Biden sold him as ‘the brand’ to reap millions from oligarchs in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine. It appears no real services were provided other than access to the Biden network, including Joe Biden himself. And Hunter Biden seems to have delivered,” said committee chair James Comer, a Kentucky Republican.

The third bank memo Comer has published so far shows a February 14, 2014 wire transfer from “Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina” to Rosemont Seneca Thornton, a shell company run by Hunter Biden and his business partner Devon Archer. Of the $3.5 million wired by Baturina, $1 million was transferred directly to Archer, while the rest was used to start up Rosemont Seneca Bohai, a new account used to receive more funding from abroad, the committee said.

Another memo shows that Biden and Archer were both appointed to the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian gas company run by Mykola Zlochevsky, for $1 million each per year. Burisma had previously paid Biden as counsel, but invited him and Archer to the board after a meeting hosted by Zlochevsky and Burisma corporate secretary Vadim Pozharsky in the spring of 2014 at Lake Como in Italy.

“Then-Vice President Joe Biden visited Ukraine soon after their first payments,” the committee noted, and Hunter claimed that the visit showed “value” that he provided to the company.

Over 300 minors and victims of sexual exploitation have been identified by more than a dozen international law enforcement groups who employed high-tech facial recognition technology to identify them.

On July 17th, investigators combed through a vast display of sexually explicit internet content that targeted children, much of it on the dark web and some dating back decades. From there, law enforcement made probable identifications of approximately 311 child victims.

This was known as the three-week “surge” or “Operation Renewed Hope.” Authorities also confirmed the rescue of other minor victims who had been subjected to continuous abuse.

Even though investigators had been struggling to identify the recorded child victims, new face recognition and artificial intelligence (AI) technology has provided the team with new leads in these previous cold cases.

Detectives forwarded their new leads to the appropriate local law enforcement agencies once they narrowed down a scene or provisionally identified a victim.

More than 100 leads were sent by the operation to the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) field offices and 25 cooperating nations. Some individuals have already been detained in Canada and in the United States.

Mike Prado, deputy assistant director of the HSI Cyber Crimes Center, spoke on the operation with press reporters.

“The results of Operation Renewed Hope exceeded our wildest expectations in the sense of being able to identify children who have been abused for, in many cases, years,” Prado stated. “Images enhanced via AI or machine learning can provide our agents and investigators a starting point to begin an investigation or in some cases give us a tentative identification where we’re sending leads out to the field to confirm the identity and rescue a child.”

According to Prado, the investigators used context cues to geolocate the data and identify potential victims and offenders, such as the flora and fauna in the images and the species of birds singing on the video.

He stated that in one instance, police were able to pinpoint a particular campground, then a victim, and finally an abuser thanks to the species of fish detected that the young boy was holding in a photograph.

Victims are offered compassionate care, tools to deal with their trauma and suffering, and the chance to testify in cases against their abusers. Prado explained that some of the victims, who were only infants or toddlers when the abuse first began and are now adults, never received any counseling or other assistance.

Virgin Galactic has announced the crew for its second commercial spaceflight. Galactic-02 is scheduled to fly a three-person crew, plus the Virgin Galactic astronaut instructor who trained them, plus two company pilots, on a flight to suborbital space on Thursday (Aug. 10).

Virgin Galactic's launch system involves a double-fuselage airplane, which carries the smaller SpaceShipTwo vehicle, VSS Unity, as a payload. VMS Eve, the carrier plane, takes off from a runway at Virgin's Spaceport America, in New Mexico, and flies to around 50,000 feet (15,000 meters), before dropping VSS Unity, which fires its rocket motor to climb the rest of the way to space.

Galactic-01, Virgin's first commercial mission, flew a trio from Italy's Air Force and National Research Council. That group was able to perform a handful of science experiments during their few minutes of weightlessness. Galactic-02 will be slightly less science-focused, but it is breaking ground in a number of other ways.

A fundraiser through the nonprofit organization Space for Humanity selected a winner for a seat on a Virgin Galactic flight as part of the organization's mission to increase space's accessibility to people worldwide. Thanks to this contest, the first mother-daughter duo will fly to space on Galactic-02. The mission will also carry a former Olympian to the final frontier for the first time.

Jon Goodwin is a former British olympian, who was part of the canoeing team at the 1972 games in Munich. Now, at 80 years old, Goodwin has lived with a Parkinson's diagnosis for the last nine years, but says he doesn't let it slow him down.

Since his diagnosis, Goodwin has continued an active lifestyle. Among other adventures, he climbed up, and then cycled down, Mount Kilimanjaro. Now, he will become the second person with Parkinson's to fly to space.

"When I got diagnosed with Parkinson's, I thought, 'Well, that's it, they're not going to accept me any longer,'" he said during a Virgin Galactic interview, referring to his perceived prospects of flying with the company. Goodwin appreciates Virgin Galactic's approach to space, and the idea that it's for everyone.

"The fact that I am now one of the three of the first commercial trips to go into space, and with suffering with Parkinson's for nine years, just shows you this attitude of 'space for all' is a wonderful attitude," Goodwin said.

Keisha Schahaff won her seat on the Galactic-02 crew as a part of a fundraising competition from Space for Humanity. Part of the organization's mission is to share the perspective of space, and the cognitive phenomenon known as the overview effect, with as diverse a range of humanity as possible.

Schahaff is 46 and has lived in the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda her whole life. She says her love of the stars led her on a journey to Buddhism, and, ultimately, to a career as a health and wellness coach. Her contest winnings included a second ticket, which she gifted to her daughter, Anastatia Mayers. The two will be the first people from the Caribbean islands to fly to space, fulfilling a lifelong dream for them both.

"The way I see this whole act of space traveling, or space accessibility and development — it's truly not an egoistical adventure. It's an adventure of humility and humanity. And just bringing everybody together under this one umbrella, understanding that this is for all of us," Schahaff said during a Virgin Galactic interview.

What do Pakistan’s Imran Khan, Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, USA’s Donald Trump, Hungary’s Viktor Orban and Mexico’s Lopez-Obrador all have in common?

First, they are all strong nationalists. Second, the U.S. government has either influenced the removal and judicial incarceration or is currently seeking the removal and judicial incarceration of each of them.

As the U.S. State Dept. (Tony Blinken), USAID (Samantha Power), and CIA (Director Burns) conduct influence operations around the world to advance the interests of the multinationals; newly released diplomatic cables from inside Pakistan reveal the U.S. influence effort to remove former Pakistan President Imran Khan.

THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT encouraged the Pakistani government in March 7, 2022, meeting to remove Imran Khan as prime minister over his neutrality on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to a classified Pakistani government document obtained by The Intercept.

The meeting, between the Pakistani ambassador to the United States and two State Department officials, has been the subject of intense scrutiny, controversy, and speculation in Pakistan over the past year and a half, as supporters of Khan and his military and civilian opponents jockeyed for power.

The political struggle escalated on August 5 when Khan was sentenced to three years in prison on corruption charges and taken into custody for the second time since his ouster. Khan’s defenders dismiss the charges as baseless. The sentence also blocks Khan, Pakistan’s most popular politician, from contesting elections expected in Pakistan later this year.

One month after the meeting with U.S. officials documented in the leaked Pakistani government document, a no-confidence vote was held in Parliament, leading to Khan’s removal from power. The vote is believed to have been organized with the backing of Pakistan’s powerful military. Since that time, Khan and his supporters have been engaged in a struggle with the military and its civilian allies, whom Khan claims engineered his removal from power at the request of the U.S.

The text of the Pakistani cable, produced from the meeting by the ambassador and transmitted to Pakistan, has not previously been published. The cable, known internally as a “cypher,” reveals both the carrots and the sticks that the State Department deployed in its push against Khan, promising warmer relations if Khan was removed, and isolation if he was not. We are told climate change is a crisis, and that there is an “overwhelming scientific consensus.”

“It’s a manufactured consensus,” climate scientist Judith Curry tells me.

She says scientists have an incentive to exaggerate risk to pursue “fame and fortune.”

She knows about that because she once spread alarm about climate change.

Media loved her when she published a study that seemed to show a dramatic increase in hurricane intensity.

“We found that the percent of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes had doubled,” says Curry.

“This was picked up by the media,” and then climate alarmists realized, “Oh, here is the way to do it. Tie extreme weather events to global warming!”

“So, this hysteria is your fault!” I tell her.

“Not really,” she smiles.

“They would have picked up on it anyways.”

But Curry’s “more intense” hurricanes gave them fuel.

“I was adopted by the environmental advocacy groups and the alarmists and I was treated like a rock star,” Curry recounts.

“Flown all over the place to meet with politicians.”

But then some researchers pointed out gaps in her research — years with low levels of hurricanes.

“Like a good scientist, I investigated,” says Curry.

She realized that the critics were right.

“Part of it was bad data. Part of it is natural climate variability.”

Curry was the unusual researcher who looked at criticism of her work and actually concluded “they had a point.”

Then the Climategate scandal taught her that other climate researchers weren’t so open-minded.

Alarmist scientists’ aggressive attempts to hide data suggesting climate change is not a crisis were revealed in leaked emails.

DHS investigators and more than a dozen global partners combed through sexually graphic internet material, some decades old, involving children on the dark web.

More than a dozen international law enforcement organizations worked together under U.S. leadership to identify and locate victims of child sexual exploitation in a just-completed operation that officials say is likely the most successful of its kind.

In the three-week “surge” known as Operation Renewed Hope, which began July 17, investigators combing through sexually graphic internet material involving children, much of it on the dark web and some of it decades old, made probable identifications of 311 child victims and confirmed the rescue of several victims from active abuse.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), part of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, took the lead in the operation, which included representatives from the Justice Department, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals, Interpol and Europol, as well as 13 law enforcement agencies from Australia, Canada and countries in Europe and South America.

In many of the cases in which victims have been identified, HSI officials told NBC News that the material had existed for many years, but investigators were previously unable to identify the child victims or the adult abusers. Thanks to new facial recognition and artificial intelligence technology, there are now fresh leads in these formerly cold cases.

More than 600 police officers working in intelligence, surveillance and carrying out secret work for MI5 in Northern Ireland have been identified on a leaked list, putting their lives at risk.

The shocking scale of the data breach, which named every officer in Northern Ireland, can today be revealed.

The document, mistakenly released by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), identifies officers working in the most sensitive roles, including those in 'secret areas' of the force, close protection officers guarding politicians and other VIPs, and others working undercover to thwart terrorists.

The list of 10,000 PSNI employees includes more than 560 officers working in intelligence and counter-terrorism, and over 100 in surveillance units.

It also identifies almost 40 staff working at MI5's headquarters in Northern Ireland.

Police said today how they are terrified that they could be attacked after blundering officials mistakenly provided the detail in response to a Freedom of Information request – which sought the number of officers and staff at all ranks and grades across the PSNI.

The Excel spreadsheet – which gives the name, rank, command, job title and department location of every single officer within the force – was described as a 'dynamite' for dissident republican groups and criminals.

In an extraordinary level of detail, it specifies who can be found working in what building, and whether they are full time, on shifts, on probation or semi-retired, and even those on 'military duty'.

The list details the names of over 160 officers and staff working in firearms and armed support, plus more than 100 working in close protection.

Lady Gaga's father has led the charge against hundreds of migrants who have 'taken over' his ritzy New York City neighborhood - claiming they are abusing residents.

The pop star's dad Joe Germanotta, 66, lives in The Pythian on the Upper West Side - and just down the street, the city transformed the Stratford Arms Hotel into a shelter for 500 migrants.

He has now claimed that the streets have been overrun with partying, prostitution, and reckless behavior because of the new neighbors.

On average, 2,300 migrants are arriving in the Big Apple each week - depleting the city's finite resources and buckling the welfare system in place.

He told the New York Post: 'There's now 500 migrants living in that dormitory. That's when all the mayhem began. Hookers are coming and going. In the mornings, you see prostitutes coming out of the building.

'The worst part's at night. The noise. It starts at about 10 o'clock, and it'll go until 4 in the morning. Playing music and racing their motocross and motorbikes up and down the streets.'

'Put the proper security in place, have a police presence and a code of conduct. They're guests in our neighborhood, and they have basically taken over.'

Germanotta said that none of the UWS residents were given any notice about the migrant shelter - and trash and needles now litter the once-clean sidewalks.

While he said the migrants are probably good people, he said their anti-social behavior was becoming a problem, and the people who decided to place them in the building have 'screwed' the locals.

They are even catcalling teenage girls as young as 14, New Jersey-born Germanotta said.

The now-migrant center used to house the American Music and Dance Academy.

He said about Eric Adams' response to the crisis: 'In my opinion, you should have just suspended 'sanctuary city' status until we had enough housing and then said, 'Yeah, OK, you can send some more.

'It's a joke. Why doesn't he get one of the cruise ships? The cruise ships hold more people, and it's a more controlled environment.

'The city is spending a tremendous amount of money that could be spent towards building affordable housing.

'The really sad part is that in the neighborhood, we still have our share of veterans and homeless — but we're not taking care of our own.

'They don't get food every day. It's really sad. I feel for them.'

Just last week, the corner of East 45th Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in Manhattan had been the epicenter of the country's migrant influx.

Hundreds lined the block hoping to get inside the makeshift processing center after coming to the area on buses from the south.

The scene left residents angry as they demanded Mayor Eric Adams do more.

The Roosevelt Hotel and others have become hubs for refugees - within walking distance from Times Square, the World Trade Center memorial site and the Empire State Building.

Over the weekend, the migrants were handed small red tickets with digits on them - and once in a while hotel workers would come out and call numbers to let people inside the air-conditioned lobby.

French firefighters were battling a major blaze in grain storage silos Thursday in the western port of La Rochelle, authorities said.

The fire, which started around 0600 GMT, created a cloud of smoke visible for kilometres (miles) and is still raging, said officials of the Charente-Maritime region.

The four silos on fire are in a row and contain wheat, a spokeswoman for the fire brigade told AFP, adding the fire still risks spreading.

The site and nearby facilities have all been evacuated.

“We are in the process of confirming how many silos are impacted and putting ourselves in a position to protect the other silos,” she added, emphasising there was no immediate indication of an explosion risk.

Nearly one hundred firefighters had been mobilised and “requests for reinforcements” were in progress, the prefecture said.

Further assume, 70% voted R in IN and 30% D in IN and 50% R in IL and 50% D in IL. Now if you wanted to nudge IL into D camp.... one might digitally move 100 voters from R in IL to IN. You keep them R and you keep them voting, but you shift them to where they will not change the outcome. Moving 100 D's from IN to IL to keep everything in balance... would make it very hard to catch this crime. They didn't change how they voted, just WHERE they voted. NATO state to place 10,000 troops on border of Russian ally – minister

Poland is moving its army forces to scare Belarus, defense chief Mariusz Blaszczak has said

Poland is set to deploy thousands of additional troops to its border with Belarus amid heightened tensions in the region, Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Thursday.

Speaking to Polskie Radio, Blaszczak stated that “we are moving the army closer to the border with Belarus” in order to “scare the aggressor so that he does not dare to attack us.” The minister added that security in the region would be underpinned by 10,000 soldiers, with 4,000 assigned to directly support the Border Guard, and another 6,000 held in reserve.

The official’s remarks come shortly after the Polish Defense Ministry approved a request by border officials to send in an additional 1,000 soldiers to the area. Later, the Polish authorities changed their mind, deciding to increase the number to 2,000.

Blaszczak also lashed out at Minsk, repeating accusations that two Belarusian helicopters violated Polish airspace last week, calling the alleged incident “another provocation.” Minsk has denied the accusations, saying it had provided Warsaw with “detailed data” on the matter.

“Everything that is happening in Belarus is coordinated with the actions of Russia,”Blaszczak stated,without providing any evidence.

In recent weeks, Polish officials have also sounded the alarm over alleged attempts by migrants to illegally cross the Belarusian border, as well as alleged efforts by operatives working for the Russian defense contractor Wagner Group to infiltrate the country.

Numerous Wagner fighters moved to Belarus after a short-lived mutiny attempt in Russia, with some of them now involved in the training of Minsk’s troops.

Blaszczak’s comments also come after Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced on Wednesday that Moscow would bolster its troops on its western borders amid a stand-off over the Ukraine conflict. In his speech, he described Poland as a “key instrument of anti-Russia policies of the US.”He also claimed that Warsaw is actively trying to build up “the most powerful army” in Europe, which, according to Polish officials, now numbers around 170,000 service members.

Ukraine reports to US on cluster munitions use – CNN

The controversial weapons have been involved in attacks on civilians in Donbass and on Russian journalists, according to Moscow

Ukraine has submitted its first report to Washington on its use of cluster munitions against Russia, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing sources. Russia has accused Kiev of targeting civilians with the weapons, which are banned in more than 100 countries.

According to an unnamed Ukrainian official interviewed by the network, the document sent to the Pentagon included data on the number of rounds fired and targets it claims to have destroyed. The CNN source, however,declined to provide any specific figures or other details.

US President Joe Biden in early July approved delivery of the controversial munitions to Ukraine. At the time, he described the move as a stopgap measure, as both Kiev and its Western backers were running short of regular shells. The decision, however, prompted a backlash from many US allies, including the UK, Canada, and Spain. Moscow has also condemned the move, with Russian President Vladimir Putin describing it as a potential “crime.”

The devices are widely banned because when they explode, they release a large number of bomblets across a wide area which often fail to detonate, thus posing a serious threat to civilians for years after the fighting is over.

Upon US approval of the delivery of cluster munitions, Ukrainian Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov claimed that Kiev would abide by a set of rules. He promised that the country would not deploy the weapons in an urban environment, keep records of where they were used, and inform the US of their effects. However, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has cast doubt on this claim, suggesting that the current government in Kiev is in no position to deliver on this pledge.

After receiving the controversial munitions, Ukraine has on numerous occasions used them to shell the Russian city of Donetsk, causing civilian deaths, according to local officials. In addition, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, the armaments were responsible for the death of RIA Novosti news agency correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev in late July, with three other journalists injured in the shelling.

Biden pulling ‘accounting scam’ to fund Ukraine – Republican rep

With funding for weapons shipments exhausted, the White House claims that it can keep arms shipments flowing thanks to an “accounting error”

US President Joe Biden is “pulling an accounting scam to send more money to Ukraine,” Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed on Tuesday. One day earlier,US officials said that the next aid package for Kiev would be financed from a $6.2 billion windfall discovered months previously. (How many more times are they gonna use that $6.2 billion? Didn’t that money go to the Wagner Group?)

The Pentagon announced in May that its accountants had overvalued previous arms shipments to Kiev to the tune of $6.2 billion, and that this money could “go back into the pot” and be used to finance future weapons transfers from US stockpiles. Crucially for the Biden administration, this “error” was discovered before the last tranche of military and economic aid money authorized by Congress for Ukraine – worth $48 billion – ran out this month. (The Pentagon should repeat what Joe says constantly when he’s lying, “No Joke, Joe and and the Pentagon aren’t lying folks!)

Essentially, the quantity of weapons sent to Ukraine remains unchanged, but by declaring them overvalued, the Pentagon claims that more can now be sent. Two US officials told Reuters on Monday that the first arms package financed by this error would be announced on Tuesday.

“We have NOT even finished funding our own military … and the Biden admin is pulling an accounting scam to send more money to Ukraine!” Greene tweeted on Tuesday.

“Plus they want Congress to pass another Ukraine supplemental by combining it with emergency flooding money,” she continued, referring to reports that the White House is working on a supplemental budget proposal to fund future weapons transfers, which it apparently plans to pass by combining with an upcoming disaster relief bill.

“This is WRONG and can NOT happen,”Greene declared. “We should only be funding money to help Americans with disaster relief, not forced to vote to fund Ukraine at the same time! SEPARATE THE FUNDS because I’m NOT voting to send MORE money to a foreign war to kill MORE people!”

While Republican lawmakers have largely supported the Biden administration’s policy of arming Ukraine “for as long as it takes,” a group of hardline conservatives has repeatedly demanded that the US stop funneling money and weapons to Kiev.

This group of renegade Republicans – including Greene – held up the confirmation of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in January, relenting only when he granted them more prominent committee positions and the ability to start removal procedures if they are dissatisfied with his leadership.

As such, McCarthy will have to balance the interests of the GOP’s pro-Ukraine majority with those of Greene and her fellow isolationists whenever the next funding bill comes before Congress.

How Donald Trump’s Indictment Could Backfire on Joe Biden

Below is my column in The Messenger on how the second indictment could prove damaging for President Joe Biden. Ironically, both Trump indictments have blowback potential for Biden on the retention of classified material and the dissemination of false claims. Notably, the New York Times has reported that Biden has had his own Thomas Becket moments in telling aides that he wanted Trump indicted and criticizing the Attorney General Merrick Garland for the delay. It is not clear if Smith will “rid [Biden] of this meddlesome president,” but his theory of criminality could prove costly to Biden himself. Indeed, it could be used as a basis for an impeachment inquiry.

A relevant quote from the Massachusetts Supreme Court's order of suspension says ==”The judge found that the respondent [Mr. Siegel’s daughter, the suspended attorney called Lisa Siegel Belanger] had exploited her father financially, causing him "to withdraw $85,000 of which the majority of the funds were disbursed for her personal benefit and/or to achieve the legal objectives to further financially exploit" her father.“

IfLisa Siegel Belanger, the suspended lawyer, had not stolen $85,000 from her dying father (Mr. Siegel) in the first place, the state never would have gotten involved in their lives. She started the nightmare but she now is out there apparently lying to the world about the facts of the case.

This story is not what it seems, and it's being misrepresented by the suspended attorney, Belanger, whose credibility is shot. Google the lady. Plenty of complaints about her that have nothing to do with her theft of $85,000 from her dying father.

While on the radio show Good Morning New Hampshire with host Jack Heath last week, former South Carolina Governor and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley weighed in on the latest politically motivated indictment of former President Donald J. Trump:

“Unlike the other candidates, I didn't rush out with a statement yesterday on Trump's indictment for one simple reason — like most Americans, I'm tired of commenting on every Trump drama,” said Haley. “I've lost track of whether this indictment is the third or fourth or the fifth.”

Wow. Interesting and very illuminating.

Maybe Haley who embarrassingly trails Trump in polls taken in her home state has also "lost track" of the fact that it was Trump who appointed her ambassador to the UN. Maybe Haley has "lost track" of loyalty and friendship. Maybe Haley has "lost track" of the protections granted by the Constitution of the United States. Maybe Haley has "lost track" of the growing Hunter Biden/Joe Biden connections to tainted money and foreign adversaries. Maybe Haley has "lost track" of the fact that Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden were working hand-in-hand to smear first private citizen Trump and then President Trump with a highly orchestrated Russia collusion hoax in an effort to steal an election. Maybe Haley "lost track" of the multiple policy wins Trump put up on the board on behalf of the American people.

And maybe Haley has “lost track” of the fact that a sitting president of the United States seems to be using our Department of Justice as a partisan tool to take out his leading political opponent.

The payments flowed into companies set up by Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, the witness who testified to congress. Those companies then distributed the money (laundered) into subsidiary companies of Rosemont Seneca, and then the money was distributed to the Biden group. One of the transactions, traced through bank records by the House investigators, was the payment of $3.5 million from Yelena Baturina, wife of the Mayor of Moscow.

Below is a summary of the third bank records memorandum.

♦ Hunter Biden and Devon Archer Used Rosemont Seneca Entities to Bring in Millions from Oligarchs in Europe and Asia: Using accounts nominally tied to Devon Archer (but using the familiar “Rosemont Seneca” branding), Hunter Biden received incremental payments originating from foreign sources, attempting to hide the source and size of the payments.

♦ In February 2014, a Russian Oligarch Sent $3.5 Million to a Shell Company Associated with Hunter Biden and Devon Archer: Russian billionaire Yelena Baturina transferred $3.5 million to Rosemont Seneca Thornton, a shell company. Approximately $1 million was transferred to Devon Archer, and the remainder was used to initially fund a new company account, Rosemont Seneca Bohai, which Devon Archer and Hunter Biden used to receive other foreign wires.

♦ In Spring 2014, a Ukrainian Oligarch Placed Archer and Biden on the Burisma Board of Directors and Agreed to Pay them $1 Million Each per Year: Burisma Holdings’ (Burisma) corporate secretary, Vadym Pozharsky, worked on behalf of the Ukrainian oligarch and owner of Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky. Hunter Biden was initially hired by Burisma to work as counsel for the company, and Pozharsky and Zlochevsky met with Hunter Biden at a conference in Lake Como in Italy where they decided Hunter Biden would work on the board of directors with Devon Archer. Then-Vice President Joe Biden visited Ukraine soon after their first payments. Payments from Burisma for both Devon Archer and Hunter Biden were wired to Rosemont Seneca Bohai. Payments were transmitted in incremental amounts to Hunter Biden’s different bank accounts.

♦ In April 2014, a Kazakhstani Oligarch Wired the Exact Price of Biden’s Sportscar to a Bank Account Used by Archer and Biden: In February 2014, Hunter Biden met with Kenes Rakishev at a Washington, D.C. hotel. Rakishev worked closely with the prime minister of Kazakhstan, Karim Massimov. In April, Rakishev, a Kazakhstani oligarch, wired $142,300 to Rosemont Seneca Bohai. The next day, a payment was made from Rosemont Seneca Bohai for a sportscar for Hunter Biden in the amount of $142,300. Archer and Biden then arranged for Burisma executives to visit Kazakhstan in June 2014 to evaluate a three-way deal among Burisma, a Chinese state-owned company, and the government of Kazakhstan.

The Global Disinformation Index (GDI) is the group who define the content on platforms according to their ideological worldview and then blacklist sites who do not align their content to support the GDI perspective. According to the Washington Examiner, Elon Musk has just partnered with them in order to enhance the advertising portfolio of Twitter and find ways to make it lose less money.

CTH has previously said to watch the economics of the Musk situation, because that will determine the outcome of the decisions. The hiring of NBC-Universal executive Linda Yaccarino was explicitly to lure the advertising side of the issue back onto the platform.

Once you are reliant on the advertising, you must then comply with the content terms of the companies who control the advertising. Joining with a group to define “disinformation” is an outcome.

WASHINGTON – Elon Musk’s X, the social media company formerly known as Twitter, signed an exclusive partnership with a “misinformation” tracker linked to a government-funded group blacklisting conservative media outlets, records show.

On the heels of Musk in July describing how the social media company had negative cash flows due to a 50% drop in advertising revenue, X is teaming up with Integral Ad Science, an ad-verification company, for a “brand safety” initiative. That same ad group, which uses an artificial intelligence algorithm to rate alleged “misinformation,” is affiliated with the Global Disinformation Index, a British group with two affiliated U.S. nonprofit groups that the Washington Examiner revealed is covertly feeding blacklists of conservative websites to advertisers to defund disfavored speech.

“I am completely against GDI in any form,” Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), who sits on the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees and has launched investigations into the British group over its alleged censorship efforts, told the Washington Examiner. “This new partnership with a group connected with GDI would only amplify the coercive and destructive powers targeting free speech.”

The partnership between X and IAS appears to undercut Musk’s touted commitment to free speech. The X owner has notably released “Twitter Files” documents to journalists, including Matt Taibbi, from Jack Dorsey’s time running the platform that show the company’s apparent coordination with the government to thwart right-leaning voices online. With the latest revelations we shared about the financial position of Twitter {Go Deep on FINANCIALS}, all of the moves now underway make sense. Musk was on track to hit a date in/around October of this year where Twitter would be insolvent. If you had read those previous “Go Deep” links, you will easily see the problem.

In 2021, Twitter generated $5.1 billion in revenue, according to the Wall Street Journal. According to the New York Times, in 2023 that revenue has dropped to around $1 billion per year.

Musk stated during public conversation that Twitter was essentially break even at $4 billion, which was the position in 2022 just prior to his taking over. [2022 costs around $4.5 billion and revenue around $4 billion +/-, per public financial statements and reporting]. Musk cut approximately $500 million in expenses from realignment and staffing reductions.

Musk has a $1.5 billion debt service on the loan he took out, per his own admission: that’s more than $100 million per month. The debt service alone is higher than his revenue. As I noted last month, Twitter is losing somewhere around $300 million per month. With $1 billion liquid in the bank, as of June (per Musk), that only gets him to September; by October, he needs another influx of cash, or else.

There is no business model, even with paying subscribers, for Twitter to exist without a major increase in revenue (Yaccarino) or a major decrease in costs. As the business grows (more users), the costs increase (more simultaneous users), and the costs to subscribers would grow. Twitter Blue subscriptions are around 180,000 users, paying $11/mo. That’s around $2 million a month- a pittance in comparison to what he needs.

On March 2, 2023, the people in control of the Joe Biden administration officially announced that government control of internet content was now officially a part of the national security apparatus. [White House Link] If you have followed the history of how the Fourth Branch of Government has been created, you will immediately recognize the intent of this new framework…

The “National Cybersecurity Strategy” aligns with, supports, and works in concert with a total U.S. surveillance system, where definitions of information are then applied to “cybersecurity” and communication vectors. This policy is both a surveillance system and an information filtration prism where the government will decide what is information, disinformation, misinformation and malinformation, then act upon it.

In part, this appears to be a response to the revelations around government influence of social media, the Twitter Files. Now we see the formalization of the intent. The government will be the arbiter of truth and cyber security, not the communication platforms or private companies. This announcement puts the government in control.

All of the control systems previously assembled under the guise of the Dept of Homeland Security now become part of the online, digital national security apparatus. I simply cannot emphasis enough how dangerous this is, and the unspoken motive behind it; however, to the latter, you are part of a small select group who are capable of understanding what was in this announcement without me spelling it out.

Barack Obama’s crumbling public image is more Louis Farrakhan, less MLK.

Barack Obama is often hailed as one of the greatest orators in modern politics. While he had undeniable gifts in that department, as someone who attended a number of his speeches in person, I never quite understood all the praise. Setting aside his career-making “red states, blue states” speech at the 2004 Democratic convention — a plea for political moderation he spent his time in office repudiating — the only memorable things Obama said were either campaign pablum such as “hope and change,” or remarks that were unintentionally revealing.

In the latter category, my personal favorite remark was this comment about congressional Republicans from 2013: “We’re going to try to do everything we can to create a permission structure for them to be able to do what’s going to be best for the country,” he said.

“Permission structure” is a phrase that’s been used by marketing executives for many years, and was apparently in common usage at the Obama White House. The idea is “based on an understanding that radically changing a deeply held belief and/or entrenched behavior will often challenge a person’s self-identity and perhaps even leave them feeling humiliated about being wrong. … Permission Structures serve as scaffolding for someone to embrace change that they might otherwise reject.”

While there’s more overlap between politics and marketing than anyone would like to admit, the naked use of jargon that comes from the world of consumer manipulation betrays a remarkably egotistical approach to politics. There was no need to address honorable disagreement to Obama’s policies, which were politically extreme and consistently opposed by voters. The White House just needed to create, with the help of a slavish media, narratives that could help people admit they were wrong and come around to his way of thinking.

Ironically enough, I thought of the “permission structure” remark reading David Samuels’ interview in Tablet with Obama biographer David Garrow, which is shaping up to be perhaps the most discussed piece of journalism of the year. That’s because the entire article is a really effective “permission structure” for a lot of Obama voters and moderates to finally admit he’s an entirely overrated, largely failed president who was far more radical than he ever let on. He’s also obsessed with celebrity and not very loyal to the people who helped him along the way.

In other words, he’s pretty much the guy his critics on the right said he was all along. ...

During the flight the Mars Helicopter hovered about 5 meters, or just over 16 feet, above the Jezero crater floor. Tips of Ingenuity's landing legs peek over the left and right edges in the camera's field of view. Tracks visible near the upper right corner lead to the Perseverance Mars Rover, seen looking on from a distance at the top right edge of the frame. Planned as a brief "pop-up" flight, Ingenuity's 54th flight lasted less than 25 seconds. It followed Ingenuity's 53rd flight made on July 22 that resulted in an unscheduled landing.

Western Sanctions Not Impacting Russian Economy as Much as Expected

I have been researching the MACRO economic dynamic in Russia quite deeply for the past six months. Essentially looking to discover not only what impact the western imposed sanctions might be having, but more broadly looking to see what happens to self-sustainability when essentially locked out from the world of commercial imports.

The research is fascinating, not simply because it is a unique opportunity, but also because national economic issues play a big role in the overall social dynamic.That said, I can say the social aspect is stunningly more interesting than the data driven outcomes. When you really dig deep into actual life of the ordinary people in Russia, far away from the geopolitical contexts, you get an entirely different perspective. My worldview of the average Russian person/family has completely changed.

There is a really good thread on how the western sanctions against Russia are having a much lesser impact than initially thought [SEE HERE]. On the economic side, one thing I would point to is how the economy is essentially an outcome of two facets: (1) the internal production strength, and (2) the service side of the ledger.

The author makes the accurate point that from a production side perspective,Russia actually has a larger economy now than Germany, the largest EU nation. The cause for this is “autarchy” or self-sufficiency. Indeed, as the timeline of the sanctions closes in on the second year completing, the Russian production economy is even stronger than when the sanctions began. Quite simply, they are making even more of their own goods now.

The sanctions hit what would typically fall into the service side of the economy, as well as financial and economic roadblocks. However, that aspect of the Russian economy was much smaller than most suspected and there were sanctions going back to 2014 which made the outcome of the 2022 western imposed restrictions less impactful.

I will be finishing my review of the economic data once Q3 is over, that will give me an entire year of data to share. However, the social stuff is even more fascinating.

I have a new understanding of why former NSA contractor Edward Snowden was so comfortable using Russiaas the place to hide after his release of classified intelligence showing how the U.S. government was spying on Americans via social media and metadata collection.

I have mostly been looking at three areas in Western Russia. Kazan, Moscow and St Petersburg (formerly Leningrad). Of the three generally large metropolitan areas, St Petersburg is by far the most interesting. It’s beautiful there and the city is alive and vibrant.

In many ways you might compare Russia in 2023 to the USA in/around 1988. Life is just not complicated and far more socially engaged.

I’ll have more on this later, but if you are ever bored check out the Russian YouTubers who livestream broadcast “a day-in-the-life” type of activity. The infrastructure is in generally good repair, the people seem warm and friendly and there is a strong social value placed on family and kids.

There are certainly negatives and the cultural dynamic of the former USSR is still evident. Technologically they are somewhat behind in some details, but the overall cohesion of their value system is something I did not fully appreciate until I started down this road of research.

I can see why the average Russian could be wide-eyed during a visit to the USA and fascinated with the overall quality of life that might be considered indulgent. However, I can also see how reciprocally the average American could be wide-eyed and smiling at the overall sense of the Russian people.

Strip out the politics, and we are all much more similar than we are different.

What do Pakistan’s Imran Khan, Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, USA’s Donald Trump, Hungary’s Viktor Orban and Mexico’s Lopez-Obrador all have in common?

First, they are all strong nationalists. Second, theU.S. government has either influenced the removal and judicial incarcerationor is currently seeking the removal and judicial incarceration of each of them.

As the U.S. State Dept. (Tony Blinken), USAID (Samantha Power) and CIA (Director Burns) conduct influence operations around the world to advance the interests of the multinationals; newly released diplomatic cables from inside Pakistan reveal the U.S. influence effort to remove former Pakistan President Imran Khan.

It sucks to wake up every day and accept the USA are the bad guys.

THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENTencouraged the Pakistani government in a March 7, 2022, meeting to remove Imran Khan as prime minister over his neutrality on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to a classified Pakistani government document obtained by The Intercept.

The meeting, between the Pakistani ambassador to the United States and two State Department officials, has been the subject of intense scrutiny, controversy, and speculation in Pakistan over the past year and a half, as supporters of Khan and his military and civilian opponents jockeyed for power.

The political struggle escalated on August 5 when Khan was sentenced to three years in prison on corruption charges and taken into custody for the second time since his ouster. Khan’s defenders dismiss the charges as baseless. The sentence also blocks Khan, Pakistan’s most popular politician, from contesting elections expected in Pakistan later this year.

One month after the meeting with U.S. officials documented in the leaked Pakistani government document, a no-confidence vote was held in Parliament, leading to Khan’s removal from power. The vote is believed to have been organized with the backing of Pakistan’s powerful military. Since that time, Khan and his supporters have been engaged in a struggle with the military and its civilian allies, whom Khan claims engineered his removal from power at the request of the U.S.

The text of the Pakistani cable, produced from the meeting by the ambassador and transmitted to Pakistan, has not previously been published. The cable, known internally as a “cypher,” reveals both the carrots and the sticks that the State Department deployed in its push against Khan, promising warmer relations if Khan was removed, and isolation if he was not. New York’s Attorney General Breaks With Gov. Hochul Over Migrant Crisis

Letitia James, the state attorney general, has declined to represent Gov. Kathy Hochul in a court proceeding over how to care for thousands of asylum seekers.

State officials notified a judge of the swap in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, writing in a public filing that a private law firm, Selendy Gay Elsberg, would be taking over the case from Letitia James, the attorney general.

While Ms. James did not immediately comment on the switch, a person familiar with her thinking who was not authorized to discuss it publicly said the attorney general, who is to Ms Hochul’s political left, was motivated by fundamental policy disagreements with the governor on the migrant issue.

The decision to withdraw amounted to a remarkable break between two of the state’s most powerful Democrats. Though their politics do not always align, the attorney general traditionally acts as the governor’s lawyer in court. Only rarely have elected officials in that position turned down the duty.

The Latest Trump Indictment Looks Like It's Backfiring

If Joe Biden thought siccing his Department of Justice on Donald Trump would keep him from returning to the White House, that strategy appears to be backfiring.

A new poll conducted Aug. 2-7, which is entirely after the latest indictment by Special Counsel Jack Smith, shows that Trump now leads Biden in a 2024 rematch. The survey by Premise found that Trump garners the support of 42% of registered voters, while Joe Biden gets 38%, giving Trump a 4-point advantage.

If you’re a Democrat seeing this poll, it has to make you nervous. Trump was indicted earlier this month, and Democrats have been accusing him of crimes from the moment he decided to run for president. To them, the indictment not only represents Trump getting justice, but it’s the key to keeping him out of the White House. However, many experts panned the indictment for being weak and for criminalizing free speech.

As for the voters, while most Democrats support the indictment, Republicans and Independents do not, and a majority of all voters believe the indictments are political and attack free speech.

If the latest indictment hasn’t made Trump unviable for the presidency in the eyes of the voters, it is plausible that it has actually boosted him. In fact, we’ve seen it before. After his first indictment in Manhattan by the George Soros-funded prosecutor Alvin Bragg, Trump was beating Biden by seven points in the Rasmussen poll after he’d been behind Biden by three points before the indictment. That’s a ten-point swing in Trump’s favor. Biden was also beating Trump by four points in the YouGov survey before that indictment, and then Trump was leading by two points after — a six-point swing in Trump’s favor.

We’ve noticed Trump’s enjoyed a boost in GOP primary polling after the indictments, but these new polls suggest that nationwide, voters are troubled by the politicization of the judicial system, and that could help Trump in the general election. Once again, it looks like Democrats’ attempts to undermine Trump could propel him back to the White House.

If the Biden administration thinks that the indictments will keep Trump out of office, they’re making a risky gamble. Trump gets to spend the next fifteen months campaigning on the fact that he’s a target of prosecutorial misconduct at the hands of the Biden administration. This will not only make GOP voters extremely angry and send them rushing to the polls, but it will also terrify independent voters who are concerned about a weaponized justice system.

Federal Court Declares Trump A Flight Risk In Secret Subpoena Decision

The disclosure of a subpoena of Twitter by Special Counsel Jack Smith was surprising in a number of respects, including the hefty $350,000 fine imposed by U.S. District Court Beryl Howell (below) for a three-day delay as the company sought to address the demand.

However, the two most surprising, and concerning, elements was that the subpoena was secret and Howell justified it, in part, on Trump being a flight risk. Neither seems warranted in this case even the subpoena was in other respects warranted.

Special counsel Jack Smith subpoenaed and obtained a search warrant related to former President Trump’s account on Twitter, now X. However, he also sought the information with a nondisclosure order that prohibited X from disclosing the existence or contents of the search warrant to Trump or anyone else. However, Trump already knew he was under investigation, so why was there a need for nondisclosure?

The court found that Trump might change his course of conduct but that seems unlikely.

If anything Trump has been most consistent in his social media practices. Indeed, while some of us have criticized him for his posting, he has remained entirely undeterred.

The lower court stated that “The district court found that there were ‘reasonable grounds to believe’ that disclosing the warrant to former President Trump ‘would seriously jeopardize the ongoing investigation’ by giving him ‘an opportunity to destroy evidence, change patterns of behavior, [or] notify confederates.'”

It is not clear how Trump would destroy the evidence in possession of Twitter, particularly after the company is informed that it must preserve and disclose the meta data.

Then there was the added rational that was tucked into footnote 2 of the D.C. Circuit opinion: Trump might flee.

Judge Howell actually agreed that the former President was a flight risk.

Process that for a second. Trump has 24/7 security. So Howell agreed that he might shake his sizable security detail, evade them, and go on the lam. He is one of the most recognized figures in the world. He would have to go to Mars to live incognito.

It is facially absurd. Trump has been sued and criminal charged across the country. He has never made a break for it. Where would he go? Cuba?

The finding of a flight risk undermines the credibility of the court’s order. This is not to question the ability to force the release of the information. However, the need for secrecy is far from evident. Rather it succeeded in preventing any challenge.
