An explosive-laden drone boat slammed into an oil tanker as it sailed past the coast of Yemen, a sign Israeli airstrikes haven’t deterred the country’s Houthi militants from attacking commercial shipping.
The 900-foot ship was hit by an uncrewed surface vessel 64 nautical miles northwest of the rebel-held port city of Hodeidah, the UK’s naval liaison in the region said on Twitter. The incident punctured a tank that holds water to keep the freighter stable when it doesn’t have cargo.

While UK authorities didn’t identify the vessel, a security expert with knowledge of the matter said it was the oil tanker Cordelia Moon. That would be consistent with the ship’s digital tracks. The vessel was sailing back toward the Mediterranean, having recently delivered Russian oil to India.
The international maritime database Equasis shows that the manager of the of the Cordelia Moon is an Indian company called Margao Marine Solutions. An email to the firm, the only listed means of contacting it, wasn’t responded to. Its insurer isn’t known, according to a database maintained by S&P Global.
The master reported the crew is safe and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call, the UK Maritime Trade Operations, which communicates with merchant shipping in the area.
Second Attack
The UKMTO also reported a second attack, this time 97 nautical miles northwest of Hodeidah, on another ship.
“The Master has reported the vessel was attacked by a missile. The vessel has sustained damage. All crew are reported safe. Authorities are investigating,” it said.
Panama-flagged CORDELIA MOON (IMO: 9297888) is one of two vessels attacked by the Houthis this morning.

The suspected attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels would mark their first on commercial ships in weeks. Israeli fighter jets bombed a seaport and several power stations in Yemen, its military said Sunday.
The Houthis, one of a network of Islamist militant organizations backed by Iran, began targeting shipping in the Red Sea in late 2023 in response to Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.
The rebels persisted with their attacks even after the US and allies launched airstrikes to deter them. Swaths of shipping firms have opted to send vessels on longer routes to avoid the area. Insurance costs have risen sharply.
The Houthis have said they are targeting Israeli- and Western-linked vessels in solidarity with Palestinians as the war in Gaza nears one-year and is feared to be expanding into a regional conflict.
The attacks come as Israeli ground forces enter Lebanon and sent soldiers into southern Lebanon, alongside airstrikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, raising the risks of a wider regional conflict. The escalation follows days of Israeli airstrikes that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other top officials.
On Monday, the Houthis threatened “escalating military operations” targeting Israel.

Two ships have been targeted by the Houthis today, the first confirmed strikes on merchant shipping in the Red Sea since the start of September.
The Panama-flagged tanker Cordelia Moon suezmax became the first ship to be targeted by the Houthis in 29 days early this morning.
An uncrewed surface vessel (USV) slammed into the ship some 64 nautical miles northwest of Hodeidah in Yemen, a port city that was hit hard by the Israeli military over the weekend.
The vessel’s number six port ballast tank has been punctured and the ship is taking on water. The crew are reported to be safe.
Another ship, the Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned 76,800 dwt bulk carrier Minoan Courage, has been targeted some 97 nautical miles northwest of Hodeidah with initial reports suggesting it has been hit by a missile.
The Israeli military said on Sunday that dozens of aircraft, including fighter jets, attacked power plants and terminal facilities at Hodeidah port.

The devastation that Tropical Storm Helene inflicted on western North Carolina is still heartbreaking several days after the storm has passed. Countless North Carolinians are stranded in the mountains and valleys of that part of the state, many of them without medications or other things that they need to survive. Towns and cities like Asheville are dealing with widespread damage and power outages. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has several road and trail closures, even as U.S. 441, the main highway between Cherokee and Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville, remains open and passable. It's hard to describe how difficult people in North Carolina have it,

A federal judge recently ruled in favor of a southern border rancher who argued that the Biden administration violated environmental law in its rush to reverse the previous administration's border policies in 2021.
Steven Smith, an Arizona rancher, was a key plaintiff in the lawsuit, Massachusetts Coalition for Immigration Reform et al. v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security, challenging the Biden administration.
The lawsuit claimed that the Department of Homeland Security failed to carry out a mandatory review required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) before stopping construction of the border wall, a significant project from the Trump era.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, NEPA mandates that federal agencies conduct an Environmental Assessment to determine if a federal action could have significant impacts on the human environment.

Unless there's money or political gain. Government corruption seems to be the heart and soul of hurricane (and other) relief "efforts" (along with most other things they touch) through preferred vendors, NGO's and other donors to the democrat party. Even though it's not as profitable as war, it's still Billion$ for their graft and corruption.
I know this is a lot to unpack, but it's a vitally important example of why we need to destroy the administrative state.
This is from an experienced volunteer in disaster relief. This occurred on another relief effort in the Florida Keys and was his wake up call that things are rotten in Washington D.C.
"I was able to coordinate several trucks full of supplies to be brought down to the EOC in Marathon.I was privy to the EOC meeting, BUT was informed in that meeting, that all of the semi trucks full of food, water and hygiene supplies were to be turned around and not allowed to be offloaded for distribution by the EOC.
THE REASON they gave us, was that these donations were not from companies on their "preferred vendors list" and that they would not accept them or give them to the residents of the keys impacted by the storm.
It was at that point that I realized, this is ALL ABOUT MONEY."

As I researched the government's response, I realized this was the dominant theme throughout.
Many reports that volunteers' supplies cannot be distributed without "Training from United Way", an NGO with deep ties to the government. Indeed, voluntary donations of all types, including food and water, have been CONFISCATED BY FEMA! No profit in it unless it comes from "Preferred Vendors" I guess.
