John Money pioneered the concept of "gender identity." He tried out his theory on twin boys, who he abused and experimented on throughout their childhood. They both went on to kill themselves.

Alfred Kinsey is the godfather of modern "comprehensive sex ed" programs. He came up with many of the theories of sexuality that are now taught as fact in our schools. He also enlisted a pedophile who raped children so that he could document the victims' "orgasms."

Volkmar Sigusch was a sexologist who coined the term "cissexual." He argued in favor of exposing children to pornography and insisted that pedophilia should not be stigmatized. This latter point was a common belief among many pioneers of the trans movement.

Magnus Hirschfeld. Another German sexologist. He opened one of the world's first transgender clinics. He was an avid proponent of eugenics and believed in forcibly sterilizing those who were "feeble-minded." The Nazis would later implement eugenics on a massive scale.

Erwin Gohrbandt. A leading scientist in Nazi Germany who performed one of the first "sex reassignment" surgeries. He helped design human experiments that were carried out on prisoners at Dachau. In one experiment, victims were submerged in ice cold water to study the effects of hypothermia. Many died.

This is far from a comprehensive list. But these are the sorts of people who gave us trans ideology. A brutal, depraved, pseudo-scientific movement from the very beginning. An ideology pushed by monstrous quacks and dangerous perverts. I guess some things never change.

The US Navy detected an acoustic signature consistent with an implosion on Sunday in the general area where the Titanic-bound submersible was diving when it lost communication with its mother ship, a senior Navy official told CNN. The Navy then immediately relayed that information to the on-scene commanders leading the search effort, and it was used to narrow down the area of the search, the official said. But the sound of the implosion was determined to be “not definitive,” the official said, and the multinational efforts to find the submersible continued as a search and rescue effort. “Any chance of saving a life is worth continuing the mission,” the official said.

(No it is related to the US T issuance and Reverse Repo Facility being used less and less as today if finally dropped below the $2T a night mark @ $1.994.711T-and the first time under $2T since June 2, 2022 barely-with a coupon (rate) of 5.05%-and the rule is that the RRF has to be 5 basis points higher than the low end of the Fed Funds Rate-which is 5%-5.25% hence the 5.05% for risk free munee GUARANTEED).

(So the bottom line here is that munee is being put to werk in US Treasuries again (albeit slowly) and this is another MAJOR reason why the FOMC is D-O-N-E raising rates (unless it is their intention to crash the system before next years election-I highly doubt they will since with a few rare exceptions they have always crashed the markets with s Republican President in charge so they will likely wait..also CBDCs will wait until then too since I cannot see them lining it up to be put at fault for that introduction prior to the 2024 election season and cycle...unless they do it really quick and that is not out of the question eith but highly unlikely imo.)

The money market fund outflow (which leads banks deposit data by a week), is interesting because it comes after banks saw a huge deposit outflow the prior week. Having gone nowhere for two weeks, The Fed balance sheet shrank by $26.3 billion last week, basically back in line with pre-SVB levels. As far as QT is concerned, The Fed sold a decent $19.4 billion of its assets, down to its lowest since August 2021 (another misnomer....they simply expired and rolled off the balance sheet-if you or I owned them we could claim we were doing QT too so total Bullshit there) The US central banks has $106 billion of loans outstanding to financial institutions through its two backstop lending facilities. With banks' usage of The Fed's emergency Bank Term Funding Program rising once again to a new record at $102.7 billion (up $0.8 billion from last week), while discount window usage slipped $0.4 billion to $3.2 billion.Finally, as a reminder, banks have 9 months left under the original 12-month BTFP Fed bailout program to find a way to stabilize their balance sheets.Not only have they failed to do so, usage of the BTFP facility is at a new all time high, and yields are rising even more (great MTM losses).

Ukraine is already planning for its next ‘counter-offensive’ using the US-made Abrams tanks, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba told state broadcaster Suspilne on Thursday.

Washington promised Kiev about 30 Abrams tanks back in January. Asked whether they might arrive in time for the current operation, Kuleba said Ukrainians should look to the future instead.

“There is hope, but one should not think only in terms of this counter-offensive,” he said.“You should not look at this counteroffensive as the last and decisive one. There will be so many counteroffensives, as many as is needed to expel Russia from our territory.”

The Abrams is a “much more complex design”than the German-made Leopards that Ukraine was provided in the spring, Kuleba added.

Kiev launched its long-heralded attack on June 4, deploying several brigades armed with American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and German-made Leopards against Russian defenses in Zaporozhye and southern Donetsk.

President Vladimir Zelensky acknowledged on Wednesday that the advance had been “slower than desired.” Anonymous Western officials told CNN on Thursday that the attack was “not meeting expectations on any front.”

According to the Russian military, Ukrainian troops were stopped cold on the screening line, losing up to 13,000 casualties and 800 armored vehicles. Briefing President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and National Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev spoke of 13 Western-made tanks being destroyed in the 16 days of fighting.

Ukrainian losses reportedly include 246 tanks, 152 infantry fighting vehicles – including 59 Western-made ones – 443 armored vehicles, 279 field artillery pieces and mortars, 42 multiple rocket launchers, ten fighter jets, four helicopters and 264 drones, according to the briefing.

Several Russian regions and organizations have offered bounties for the destruction or capture of any Leopard, Abrams or UK-made Challenger tanks provided to Ukraine. The first million-ruble prize for killing a Leopard was paid out to a Russian serviceman earlier this week.

President Joe Biden was in the room when his son Hunter Biden sent a WhatsApp message to Chinese businessman Henry Zhao demanding to know why Zhao had not held up his side of an undisclosed bargain, according to documents released Thursday by House Republicans.

In the 2017 WhatsApp message, Hunter Biden implied that Zhao failing to heed his words would result in his father, then the former-Vice President Biden, and “everyone he knows” holding a grudge.

The documents include whistleblower testimonies from two IRS agents who allege political interference by the Department of Justice and the IRS into their investigation into Hunter Biden.

The agents claim that they found damning evidence implicating Biden, but they were prevented from properly investigating the president’s son by employees of the Biden Department of Justice and the IRS.

The document pertaining to Zhao came from an iCloud server investigators gained accessed to as part of their investigation.

“[W]e obtained a July 30th, 2017, WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to Henry Zhao, where Hunter Biden wrote: ‘I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.’”

The message is the clearest indication yet that Hunter Biden directly leveraged his father’s political office and political power in order to extract financial advantages from foreign businessman.

The message is also the clearest line that has been drawn from Hunter Biden to his father when it comes to shady foreign business dealings.

Though the message could just be bluster from the younger Biden, as the investigators did not confirm that the then-Vice President was actually in the room when the message was sent.

More than just a businessman, Zhao is a Communist Party official in the People’s Republic of China. He runs Harvest Fund Management and has associations with BHR Partners, an investment fund Hunter Biden co-founded in 2013.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that BHR Partners was founded just 12 days after Hunter Biden joined his father on an Air Force Two flight to Beijing.

Another day, another hit piece on the Supreme Court, this time with ProPublica targeting Justice Samuel Alito.

A few weeks back, commenting on a substanceless media attack on Justice Clarence Thomas, law professor Josh Blackman commented, “Wait for the next empty shoe to drop.”

Well, here it is. And honestly it’s not much of a shoe. Nor even a flipflop.

Since the Supreme Court shifted right, media coverage has, well, flip-flopped from hagiography to hit pieces fast enough to make your head spin.

When the court was reliably liberal, things like Justice Hugo Black’s fomer Klan membership, or William O. Douglas’ history of sexual misbehavior and shady connections to Vegas “businessmen” didn’t matter.

Now that it’s leaning the other way,the press has stopped swallowing camels and started straining at gnats.

Last month we were told that it was somehow an ethics violation that George Mason Law School (one of the few conservative law schools in America) had Supreme Court justices as adjunct professors, even as its clinic filed friend-of-the-court briefs.

Then we were told that it was somehow a scandal that Clarence Thomas went on vacations with a rich friend.

Now, perhaps because black voters were starting to notice the press’ and the Democrats’ (but I repeat myself) hostility to Thomas, the focus has shifted to Alito for more of the same.

Once again, it’s Democratic Party mouthpiece ProPublica bringing the charges.

ProPublica’s role is to disguise oppo-research hit pieces as journalism.

It used to be coy about it, but now it barely tries to hide what’s going on.

When the journalistic motto is “where there’s smoke there’s fire,” you can expect a brisk trade in smudge-pots.

And ProPublica is one of the smudgiest.

As The Wall Street Journal notes: “Regarding ethics, the [ProPublica] story flatly asserts that Justice Alito violated disclosure rules, but he did not. At the time of the trip, the Justices were authoritatively advised that such ‘personal hospitality’ wasn’t reportable.

“Ray Randolph, a federal appellate judge who was on both trips, says he asked the judiciary’s disclosure office whether to report the trip on his 2005 form. Backed by his notes taken at the time, Judge Randolph said he was told he did not have to disclose.”

But Alito did disclose it, not in paperwork for the files, but in front of a large audience.

“As it happens, the fishing trip isn’t even a ProPublica scoop. Justice Alito was so intent on concealing the trip,” the paper jokes, “that he told a large audience of lawyers and journalists about it at a Federalist Society dinner in 2009.”

Back in the 1990s (so long ago it was considered a defense of Bill Clinton amidst his many scandals), Peter Morgan and I wrote “The Appearance of Impropriety: How the Ethics Wars Have Undermined American Government, Business and Society.”

The book had two major themes: One was how ethics charges are used offensively to turn minor transgressions into major partisan scandals.

The other was how the minutiae of ethics rules are used to conceal much bigger institutional misbehavior.

Both are present here.

ProPublica and other captive outlets of the Democratic Party are doing whatever they can to create “scandals” around the Supreme Court.

It’s not that they expect any particular faux-scandal to stick, but they hope that raising one after another will create a generalized perception that the court is corrupt, and its decisions — say, overturning affirmative action, or upholding gun rights — will thus be delegitimized, making it easier for Democratic officials to disobey them.

At the same time, the “ethics” attacks on the court serve as a smokescreen to conceal the much bigger ethical problems that go unaddressed.

ProPublica, for example, crusades against fully publicized matters like Alito’s trip, even as it rakes in millions of dollars from undisclosed donors.

Per the Washington Free Beacon: In 2020 and 2021, “ProPublica accepted $6.3 million from anonymous donors, and a quarter of the group’s revenues in 2022 came from two unnamed donors.”

2 killed in plane crash north of Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. – The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a small plane crashed north of Duluth, killing both occupants.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday to the report of the plane crash near the 8300 block of Pequaywan Lake Road, located in the unorganized township of 54R13.

"The state duty officer received a call from Air Force rescue of a registered aircraft beacon that had been alarmed. A spotter plane in the area observed possible wreckage on the ground," the sheriff's office said.

When deputies arrived, they located the crash site in a wooded area west of the road.

Both the pilot and passenger were found dead, the sheriff's office said.

Bryan Handyside, 60, was operating the plane. He had over 30 years of piloting experience. The passenger was 64-year-old Matthew Joseph.

The plane was determined to be a privately-owned 1946 Aeronca 7CCM, which seats two people. Officials believe an annual inspection was completed recently on the aircraft. The flight had taken off from Duluth International Airport earlier in the morning and sent out a distress signal.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

Joseph was Handyside's coworker at Cirrus; the plane involved in the crash was, however, not a Cirrus aircraft.

In addition to the FAA, the National Transportation Safety Board is also investigating.

What is ‘Disease X’? COVID experts warn it could cause deadlier pandemic

The World Health Organization keeps a short list of “priority diseases” that could cause the next deadly pandemic.

Most of the diseases are already known to us — Ebola, SARS and Zika made the cut — but the final entry has the terrifying name “Disease X.”

The term Disease X is used by the WHO as a placeholder to describe a disease that’s unknown to medical science as a cause of human infections.

And as a new disease agent — whether it’s a virus, a bacterium, a fungus or other agent — there likely won’t be any vaccines or few, if any, treatments available.

“This isn’t the stuff of science fiction,” Dr. Richard Hatchett, of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, told the Telegraph.

“This is a scenario we have to prepare for. This is Disease X.”

The WHO coined the term Disease X in 2018.

One year later, as COVID-19 began to spread across China, the world witnessed a deadly pandemic caused by a new virus — a Disease X had emerged.

“It is not an exaggeration to say that there is potential of a Disease X event just around the corner,”

Dr. Pranab Chatterjee, researcher at the Department of International Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, told the National Post.

“The recent spate of H5N1 bird flu cases in Cambodia is just a case in point,” Chatterjee added.

Some public health experts believe the next Disease X will be zoonotic, meaning it will originate in wild or domestic animals, then spill over to infect humans.

Ebola, HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 were zoonotic outbreaks.

However, there are other sources of diseases and bioterrorism could be the cause of the next pandemic.

“The possibility of an engineered pandemic pathogen also cannot be ignored,” said the authors of a 2021 article in the journal Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology.

“The release of such pathogens, either through laboratory accidents or as an act of bioterrorism, might lead to a disastrous Disease X as well and has been remarked as a global catastrophic risk,” the authors added.

Another possible source could be “zombie” viruses that have been locked in permafrost or other frozen landscapes for centuries, but are released by a warming climate.

The other priority diseases on the WHO list include Marburg virus, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, Lassa fever, Nipah and henipaviral diseases, Rift Valley fever and Middle East respiratory syndrome.

To prevent and combat an outbreak of Disease X, medical experts worldwide are clamoring for an increase in funds to support the surveillance of, and research into, potential pandemic agents.

“The COVID-19 pandemic was not the first to wreak havoc on the world and it will not be the last,” wrote the authors of the Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology article.

“Thus, we need to prepare for the next outbreak as soon as possible.”

The House Ways and Means Committee released bombshell new whistleblower testimony Thursday claiming that Hunter Biden failed to pay taxes on $8.3 million in income and the Department of Justice denied attempts to bring charges in other states. The testimony revealed that U.S. Attorney David Weiss - the Trump-era holdover who prosecuted the case against Hunter Biden - allegedly asked for special counsel status and was denied by the Department of Justice. Weiss also allegedly tried to bring charges against Hunter in Washington D.C. and California in the fall of 2022 and had that request denied in January 2023.

The US president’s snub of the British defense secretary’s candidacy could sour bilateral relations, according to the paper’s sources

The British government is frustrated by US President Joe Biden’s decision not to endorse the candidacy of UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace to become the next NATO secretary-general, the Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday, citing sources.

According to unnamed senior British officials interviewed by the paper, London felt “badly let down” by Biden’s apparent refusal, suggesting that it could throw a wrench into the‘special relationship’ between the two Western states. “We’re supposed to be their closest ally. And this is what we get. It is what it is… but it is bad for UK-US relations,” one source said.

He also went on to complain that Washington has done the UK “a bad turn” byfavoring a “Danish lady,” an apparent reference to Mette Frederiksen, the prime minister of Denmark, who has been rumored to have good chances of becoming the next NATO chief.

However, according to the report, while Biden initially wanted Frederiksen to succeed Jens Stoltenberg, the current secretary-general of the US-led military bloc,he cooled on her candidacyafter she failed to impress him during a recent meeting in Washington.

Wallace, who emerged as a staunch anti-Russia hawk amid the Ukraine conflict, is said to have been a popular choice among numerous NATO members. However, his candidacy was met with opposition from several European leaders, whopushed for the next NATO bossto come from anEU nation, the report says. One Telegraph source accused France and Germany of “scrabbling about” to prevent Wallace from taking the job.

Against this backdrop, Washington has reportedly convinced several of its European allies to put off the replacement decision while trying topersuade Stoltenberg, who has held the post for nine years, to agree to stay on foranother 12 months.

Earlier this month, Biden publicly said that the UK defense secretary would make a “very qualified” leader of the bloc, though he stopped short of throwing his weight behind his candidacy.

Smugglers of radioactive isotope busted – FSB

A group allegedly offered $3.5 million for a kilogram of Cesium-137, which the buyers wanted to use to later frame Russia in Ukraine

The Russian Security Service (FSB) has reported arresting a group of would-be smugglers of the radioactive isotope Cesium-137. It claimed that if the operation had been successful, the dangerous material would have been used for a provocation against Russia in the Ukraine conflict zone.

Five individuals were caught red-handed by FSB agents with support from Interior Ministry officers, the statement reported. The group wasacting “with coordination by a Ukrainian citizen” and was willing topay $3.5 millionfor one kilogram of the product, it said.

Footage released by the service showed the scene of the purported exchange. The buyers were presented with a heavy container that required four men to carry and put inside a car trunk. Officers subsequently went in to make arrests. Parts of the video were blurred to hide the faces of those involved.

The foreign party that sought to procure Cesium-137 in Russia intended to use it “to conduct aninformation-propaganda campaignto discredit the country internationally by staging scenes of the use of weapons of mass destruction,” the statement claimed.

Cesium-137 is only produced in nuclear fission reactions, including in reactors and nuclear explosions. Its anthropogenic nature combined with its ability to easily spread across large distances is used by scientists to accurately date pre-atomic-era objects by checking them for traces of the element and products of its radioactive decay. It is also used for radiotherapy and to calibrate gamma radiation sensors.

The isotope has a relatively long half-life of 30 years and its salts are easily soluble in water, which makes it a serious contamination risk.

Photographs from Hunter Biden’s laptop appear to place him at his father’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, on the same day that he used his dad’s name to threaten a Chinese business partner.

The Free Beacon’s Chuck Ross and Andrew Kerr reported that four photos from the laptop show Hunter Biden in his dad’s Corvette on the same day that he sent a WhatsApp to Henry Zhao on July 30, 2017.

According to the transcript provided by the House Ways and Means Committee, Hunter Biden wrote:

I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.

Henry Zhao is a Chinese Communist Party official, according to Peter Schweizer, and was business partners with the daughter of China’s former minister of state security.

Hunter Biden’s message to Zhao was revealed on Thursday when Congress released transcripts from the testimony of two IRS whistleblowers, who said that they had recommended more charges to be brought against the president’s son but said they had faced pushback from the Biden administration.

The Free Beacon’s report noted that if Joe Biden really was next to his son helping him deal with the situation, his claim that he never had anything to do with his son’s foreign business dealings would be invalidated.

Russia blasts ‘crazy’ US resolution on nuclear weapons

Ambassador Antonov responded to a proposal in the Senate to regard any use of tactical nukes by Moscow as an attack on NATO

The speculation of US policymakers that Russia could resort to using tactical nuclear weapons is “absurd” and only adds fuel to the stand-off between Moscow and the West, Anatoly Antonov, Russia’s ambassador in Washington, said on Thursday.

In a statement on Telegram, the envoy weighed in on a bipartisan resolutionintroduced by US Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthalon Thursday suggesting that Washington should consider the use of tactical nuclear weapons by Russia or its allies as an attack on NATO.

Antonov described the resolution “as yet another manifestation of blind hatred for our country,” claiming that its sponsors seek to drag Washington even deeper into the Ukraine conflict.

“This is not just another crazy initiative by Russophobe US senators,” Antonov stated, saying it shows who is reallypursuing a course towards a direct global conflict between Russia and NATO.

The proposed resolution also seeks to impose on the global community a “provocative point of view that Russia intends to launch a nuclear strike on the territory of Ukraine,” Antonov said, suggesting that the document could also be laying the groundwork for accusing Moscow of staging a nuclear incident at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which was captured by Russian troops in the early days of the Ukraine conflict.

The ambassador said that Russia has always been “a responsible nuclear power,” and has not changed its nuclear doctrine, which stipulates that Moscow can only use nuclear weapons if the very existence of the state is being threatened.

By using such cheap rhetoric, the localelite demonstrates its absolute incompetence in strategic matters. The provocative and short-sighted remarks of the US lawmakers only serve to escalate tensions and increase the risk of the situation sliding to an even more dangerous point.

Antonov also pushed back against another clause of the Graham-Blumenthal resolution calling for the deployment of Russian tactical nuclearweapons in Belarus to be recognized as a threat to Ukraine and NATO.

“We have not violated a single international obligation. We did exactly what the Americans have been doing for decades by fielding nuclear bombs on the territories of their European allies,” the envoy said.

The move was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in late March in response to the UK’s decision to provide Kiev with depleted uranium munitions. Later, he clarified that the nuclear weapons would start arriving in the neighboring country in early July once all preparations have been completed.

Starbucks union says workers at more than 150 stores will strike over Pride decor

Some organized Starbucks stores will strike across the U.S. starting Friday in Seattle after the coffee giant and the union representing baristas publicly clashed over claims that the company was not allowing Pride month decor in cafes.

The union, Starbucks Workers United, said more than 150 stores representing nearly 3,500 workers have pledged to join the strikes, which will take place over the next week. More than two dozen additional stores are voting on strike authorizations and the count could rise to nearly 200 stores by the end of the week, the union said.

Last week, the union alleged dozens of U.S. stores were not allowing employees to decorate for Pride month, accusations that suggested a wave of backlash against LGBTQ+ inclusion had reached a perceived liberal bastion in corporate America. Starbucks said it had not revised its guidelines for store decorations.

“There has been no change to any policy on this matter and we continue to encourage our store leaders to celebrate with their communities including for U.S. Pride month in June,” the company said last week, adding that it unwaveringly supports the LGBTQ+ community. Local store leaders and employees can make their own decorating decisions within guidelines laid out in the company’s security and safety manuals.

In response to the strike pledges, the company added, “Workers United continues to spread false information about our benefits, policies and negotiation efforts—a tactic used to seemingly divide our partners and deflect from their failure to respond to bargaining sessions for more than 200 stores.”

In a post on its website, Starbucks shared a June 14 letter from its VP of Partner Resources, May Jensen, to Workers United President Lynne Fox demanding the union “cease from knowingly misleading partners.”

Workers United has alleged instances in at least 22 states when workers have not been able to decorate, pointing to social media accounts where workers have documented their claims. The union said it has filed an unfair labor practice charge against Starbucks over what it alleges is a change in policy. Some of the strikes in the coming days are tied to that claim.

Not all of the stores that will strike had issues related to Pride decor.

Iowa weatherman quits, citing PTSD from threats over ‘liberal’ climate coverage

A longtime meteorologist is quitting his job at an Iowa TV station and plans to change careers after viewer backlash over his “liberal conspiracy theory on the weather” led him to seek treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Chris Gloningerannounced Wednesday that he will depart KCCI-TV in Des Moines in July, according to the Washington Post.

The 18-year TV veteran, who joined the CBS affiliate in 2021, told the newspaper he was inundated with “harassing” emails calling him an “idiot” for his “liberal conspiracy theory on the weather” which had him “pushing nothing but a Biden hoax.”

“I was not sleeping,” Gloninger said. “I had bags under my eyes.”

Some of the commenters asked for his address while others vowed to give him “an Iowan welcome you will never forget,” according to the Washington Post.

Another troll angrily urged Gloninger to “go east and drown from the ice cap melting.”

The messages took a toll on Gloninger, who started seeing a therapist and sought treatment for PTSD.

When one of the angry messages appeared in his inbox, he rushed home from the hair salon where his wife was waiting alone and suggested to her that they call the police, according to the Washington Post.

Police in Iowa located a man in the town of Lenox, 63-year-old Danny H. Hancock, who was found to have been the one who sent the threatening messages.

Hancock was slapped with a $150 fine, according to the Iowa Capital Dispatch.

Despite the fact that the source of the threatening messages was pinpointed, Gloninger said he had difficulty refocusing on his job.

Gloninger arrived in Iowa’s state capital after stops at TV stations in Rochester, NY, Albany, NY, Milwaukee and Boston.

Just as he had done at his prior post at NBC 10 Boston, he noted how climate change was affecting the local weather in Des Moines — using material prepared by George Mason Univesrsity professor Ed Maibach.

Deadline passed on law that binds the White House to tell Congress everything it knows about origin of the pandemic

Joe Biden has been accused of delaying the declassification of US intelligence on whether Covid-19 leaked from the Wuhan lab until after his secretary of state visited Beijing.

Under the Covid-19 Origin Act 2023, which was passed by Congress and signed by Mr Biden in March, a deadline of Jun 18 was set to release information.

The act ordered Mr Biden’s director of national intelligence Avril Haines to “declassify any and all information relating to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origin” of the pandemic.

That included intelligence on the “activities performed by the Wuhan Institute of Virology with or on behalf of the People’s Liberation Army” and “coronavirus research or other related activities performed at the Wuhan Institute of Virology prior to the outbreak”.

During the Skylab 2 crew's final fly-around inspection on June 22, 1973, they saw this overhead view of the Skylab space station. It has a single solar panel and a parasol solar shield, rigged to replace the micrometeoroid shield. A mishap in the original Skylab 1 liftoff and orbital insertion resulted in damage: both the second solar panel and the micrometeoroid shield were torn away.

When commander Charles “Pete” Conrad, pilot Paul J. Weitz, and science pilot Joseph P. Kerwin launched to the Skylab space station, the first part of their mission was to make repairs to the station, resulting in a record-breaking spacewalk. In the second half of their mission, Conrad, Weitz, and Kerwin focused on completing as much science as possible, research being the primary goal of Skylab.

On June 22, after undocking from Skylab and photographing it during a fly-around inspection, they fired the service module’s engine to bring them home, after completing 404 orbits around the Earth. They splashed down about 800 miles southwest of San Diego and 6.5 miles from the prime recovery ship, the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga.

NASA’s MAVEN Spacecraft Stuns with Ultraviolet Views of Red Planet

NASA’s MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN) mission acquired stunning views of Mars in two ultraviolet images taken at different points along our neighboring planet’s orbit around the Sun.

By viewing the planet in ultraviolet wavelengths, scientists can gain insight into the Martian atmosphere and view surface features in remarkable ways.

MAVEN’s Imaging Ultraviolet Spectrograph (IUVS) instrument obtained these global views of Mars in 2022 and 2023 when the planet was near opposite ends of its elliptical orbit.

The IUVS instrument measures wavelengths between 110 and 340 nanometers, outside the visible spectrum. To make these wavelengths visible to the human eye and easier to interpret, the images are rendered with the varying brightness levels of three ultraviolet wavelength ranges represented as red, green, and blue. In this color scheme, atmospheric ozone appears purple, while clouds and hazes appear white or blue. The surface can appear tan or green, depending on how the images have been optimized to increase contrast and show detail.

The first image was taken in July 2022 during the southern hemisphere’s summer season, which occurs when Mars passes closet to the Sun. The summer season is caused by the tilt of the planet’s rotational axis, similar to seasons on Earth. Argyre Basin, one of Mars’ deepest craters, appears at bottom left filled with atmospheric haze (depicted here as pale pink). The deep canyons of Valles Marineris appear at top left filled with clouds (colored tan in this image). The southern polar ice cap is visible at bottom in white, shrinking from the relative warmth of summer. Southern summer warming and dust storms drive water vapor to very high altitudes, explaining MAVEN’s discovery of enhanced hydrogen loss from Mars at this time of year.

The second image is of Mars’ northern hemisphere and was taken in January 2023 after Mars had passed the farthest point in its orbit from the Sun. The rapidly changing seasons in the north polar region cause an abundance of white clouds. The deep canyons of Valles Marineris can be seen in tan at lower left, along with many craters. Ozone, which appears magenta in this UV view, has built up during the northern winter’s chilly polar nights. It is then destroyed in northern spring by chemical reactions with water vapor, which is restricted to low altitudes of the atmosphere at this time of year.

MAVEN launched in November 2013 and entered Mars’ orbit in September 2014. The mission’s goal is to explore the planet’s upper atmosphere, ionosphere, and interactions with the Sun and solar wind to explore the loss of the Martian atmosphere to space. Understanding atmospheric loss gives scientists insight into the history of Mars' atmosphere and climate, liquid water, and planetary habitability. The MAVEN team is preparing to celebrate the spacecraft’s 10th year at Mars in September 2024.

Upside Foods and Good Meat, two companies that make what they call “cultivated chicken,” said Wednesday that they have gotten approval from the US Department of Agriculture to start producing their cell-based proteins.

Cameroon opposes French LGBTQ ambassador’s visit

The government could cut ties with France if Paris continues to interfere in issues concerning homosexuality, a Cameroonian activist told RT

The government of Cameroon is attempting to bar France’s ambassador for LGBTQ rights, Jean-Marc Berthon, fromvisiting the country to organize a conference on gender and sexual identity. The forum’s topic of homosexuality “qualified as a crime of common law” in Cameroon, Foreign Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella said in a statement.

In an interview with RT, Cameroonian journalist and human rights activist Njodzeka Dabhatu said that LGBTQ issues concern the cultural heritage and traditions of the Central African country, warning that there could be diplomatic fallout if France continues to challenge these values.

Cameroon “has no problem dealing with other countries as long as” they do not “interfere” in its internal affairs, he said. However, meddling in “issues protected by Cameroon's constitution,” particularly homosexuality, which is criminalized, will force the country to sever “ties with France,” Dabhatu noted.

Cameroonians who spoke to RT said they were “very glad” that the government has taken steps to stop the LGBTQ event.

“It is a very very horrible phenomenon... And it’s not part of our culture,” a local said, adding that no country should “impose its authority upon another sovereign country.”

“I am so happy with the stance that the Cameroon government has taken against this French declaration of LGBT. We can do without the French,” another resident stated.

Berthon planned to travel to Cameroon from June 27 to July 1 for the conference, which was to be hosted by the French Institute in the capital, Yaounde.

DHS has quietly published an overdue overstay report showing that more than 850,000 foreign visitors overstayed their authorized stay in FY2022, which is probably a record high.

The largest number of short-term visitor overstays from non-VWP countries came from Venezuela. About 173,000 Venezuelans overstayed during the year – which is about 94 percent of the visitors. This is because the Biden administration has allowed Venezuelans to enter and receive Temporary Protected Status, a designation that includes a work permit.

The next largest number of overstays by short-term visitors are citizens of Mexico, with approximately 124,000 overstays, at a rate of 3.5 percent.

For the first time, DHS broke down the overstay rates for the three sub-categories of student/exchange visas. Vocational school students had the highest overstay rate of the three (9.1 percent). Exchange visitors overstayed at a rate of 5.6 percent, and university and other traditional students overstayed at a rate of 4.1 percent.

Just over 9,000 citizens of China overstayed on student or exchange visitor visas, representing more than 16 percent of all student/exchange overstays.

The largest number of overstays in the category that includes temporary workers came from Mexico (131,000) and India (5,800).

U.S. stocks fall to cap off worst week since collapse of Silicon Valley Bank

Dow heads for fifth straight drop, longest losing streak since May 25

U.S. stocks fell Friday with the S&P 500 index on track for its worst week since the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in March suggesting the three month rally may be coming to an end.

Investors sought safety in bonds and the U.S. dollar as a wave of interest-rate hikes and hawkish commentary from international central bankers revived worries about global economic growth.

How are stocks trading? The S&P 500 SPX, -0.59% fell 32 points, or 0.8%, to 4,349. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.49% fell 204 points, or 0.6%, to 33,741. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.86% slid 145 points, or 1.1%, to 13,484.

On Thursday, the Dow industrials fell 4.81 points, or less than 0.1%, to close at 33,946.71. The four-day slide is the blue-chip gauge’s longest losing streak since a five-day drop that ended on May 25, according to Dow Jones Market Data. Both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq finished higher, snapping a three-day losing streak.

What’s driving markets U.S. stocks on Friday looked set to snap the longest streak of weekly gains since 2019 for the Nasdaq. Concerns that interest rate rises by central banks might harm global economic growth were weighing on global equities on Friday, analysts said, following interest rate rises in the U.K., Switzerland, Norway and Turkey on Thursday. The latest batch of rate hikes followed moves by the central banks of Canada and Australia earlier this month.

Data released on Friday also showed business activity in the eurozone losing momentum in June, according to a purchasing managers survey. U.S. economic growth may also be slowing. The S&P Global U.S. services index fell to a 54.1 in June from 54.9 in the prior month, a two-month low, while the manufacturing index, meanwhile, slid to a five-month low of 46.9 from 51 in May.

With central banks around the world promising to raise borrowing costs even higher to tame inflation, analysts focused on the potential ramifications of higher interest rates for both the health of the economy and equity valuations. In the U.S., analysts across Wall Street have warned that the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite valuations are again looking unreasonably rich.

The price-to-earnings ratio for the S&P 500 based on Wall Street’s forecasts for corporate earnings over the next 12 months is just shy of 19, according to FactSet. That’s higher than the five-year average. While the Federal Reserve opted to leave interest rates on hold in June, Chair Jerome Powell reiterated in Congressional testimony this week that senior Fed officials strongly support hiking rates “a couple of times” later this year.

With the S&P 500 down nearly 1.5% for the week, stocks are on track for their biggest such pullback since March 10, FactSet data showed.. (The exact day that SVB blo'd up) Defensive assets like the dollar and high-quality sovereign bonds were outperforming on Friday, with the yield on the 10-year Treasury note TMUBMUSD10Y, 3.743% falling five basis points to 3.744%. Yields on 10-year U.K. gilt TMBMKGB-10Y, 4.317% and 10-year German bunds were down by 10 basis points or more. Crude prices CL.1, -0.99%, which are sensitive to expectations for the global economy, fell 1.6% to $68.49 a barrel. (More demand destruction and they -OPEC+ will be cutting again...wait for it) However, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen struck an upbeat tone Friday when she said during an interview with Bloomberg that recession risks in the U.S. have faded “because look at the resilience of the labor market, and inflation is coming down.”

Investors will hear from Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester later. She’s expected to speak at 1:40 p.m. Eastern Time. (which will likely be some rosey "it's gonna be just fine" BS and the markets will erase much of these losses...it is Friday after all)

Robert F Kennedy Jr, who is challenging President Joe Biden for the Democrat nomination in 2024, is set to appear before the Weaponization of the Federal Government Select Subcommittee next month to discuss censorship and free speech.

Kennedy told the subcommittee that he would appear as a witness for a hearing scheduled on July 20, A source familiar with the matter told Breitbart.

While Kennedy is Biden’s leading challenger, he trails the incumbent by around 50 points.

Over the weekend, YouTube removed a video of Kennedy that was featured on Jordan Peterson’s channel, with a spokesperson for the platform saying this was because it violated “YouTube’s general vaccine misinformation policy, which prohibits content that alleges that vaccines cause chronic side effects, outside of rare side effects that are recognized by health authorities.”

To the Editor—An old adage says, “Prevention is better than cure.” Nothing exemplifies this idea better than “Disease X.”

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “Disease X represents the knowledge that a serious international epidemic could be caused by a pathogen currently unknown to cause human disease.”1

Richard Hatchett, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), said about Disease X, “It might sound like science fiction, but Disease X is something we must prepare for.”2

In a list of diseases that the WHO considers high priority in terms of research and development, Disease X occupies a spot among diseases such as Ebola, Zika, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).1

Unexpected outbreaks of infectious disease (Disease X) have repeatedly rocked the medical confidence and have taken the medical world by surprise.3

Some experts have even commented that COVID-19, caused by severe acute respiratory coronavirus virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), met the standards to be considered the first Disease X,4

while some authors have called Zika a Disease X.5 However, one unfortunate possibility is that COVID-19 and other recent pandemics might have been milder versions of what will eventually be the most prominent Disease X.

Disease X is supposed to be caused by a “pathogen X.”

Such a pathogen is expected to be a zoonosis, most likely an RNA virus, emerging from an area where the right mix of risk factors highly promotes the risk for sustained transmission.6

The WHO has been criticized for underreacting on pandemics such as the 2014 Ebola pandemic,7

and as an organization with limited funding and weak political power, the WHO usually fails when it comes to timely and strong acts to reduce the spread of transmissible diseases.8

A study that aimed at figuring out where the responsibility lies for the 2014 Ebola outbreak also concluded that while the WHO might have been partly to blame, it’s also the lack of cooperation from governments and delayed funding aggravates the situation.7

Scientists have also commented that although the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the world, as soon as it disappears into the background, healthcare systems will remain the same.

Politicians might use the weak recovering economy due to the pandemic as a reason to delay funding for epidemic preparation, as a result failing to produce timely effective measures.8

Similarly, while emerging zoonotic pathogens are a threat that needs to be monitored, the possibility of an engineered pandemic pathogen also cannot be ignored.9

The release of such pathogens, either through laboratory accidents or as an act of bioterrorism, might lead to a disastrous Disease X as well and has been remarked as a global catastrophic risk.10

There is a dire need to seriously fund the surveillance of, research into, and treatment of emerging potential pandemic agents that could cause Disease X.8 Despite the grim situation, steps can be taken to stop Disease X and to reduce the spread and damage of Disease X by properly and preemptively preparing for it. (1)

We need to develop international guidelines to control bioterrorism. Bioterrorism attacks could also result in an epidemic, for example, if Ebola or Lassa viruses were used as biological agents. (2)

Advice of the academics should be sought in a timely way without any political involvement. (3)

Immediate and appropriate travel restrictions and airport screening will need to be implemented to contain the spread of pathogen X across borders. (4)

The world’s scientists, clinicians, and infectious disease experts must act collaboratively to investigate, control, and eliminate the disease in a timely way. (5)

Widespread testing and aggressive contact tracing can effectively contain the outbreak. (6) Timely investments can be made to accelerate the development, availability, and approval of medical countermeasures (like diagnostics, vaccines, and clinical trials) required before and during the pandemic. (7)

Active surveillance of virus laboratories is needed to avoid a potential leak of a new virus.

The World Health Organization reports that as of January 2022, there have been more than 300 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 (303,169,398 cases as of January 9, 2022) and more than 5.4 million deaths from COVID-19 (5,479,804 deaths as of January 9, 2022). Within just the United States, there have been almost 60 million confirmed cases (59,848,908 as of January 9, 2022) and more than 800,000 deaths (836,603 deaths as of January 9, 2022). Numbers continue to rise each day.
