The Atlantic on Saturday ran an article boasting about right-wing media sites seeing their traffic implode due to algorithmic changes by Facebook and Google - but the joke is on them.

As you may have heard, mainstream news organizations are facing a financial crisis. Many liberal publications have taken an even more severe beating. But the most dramatic declines over the past few years belong to conservative and right-wing sites. The flow of traffic to Donald Trump's most loyal digital-media boosters isn't just slowing, as in the rest of the industry; it's utterly collapsing.

This past February, readership of the 10 largest conservative websites was down 40 percent compared with the same month in 2020, according to The Righting, a newsletter that uses monthly data from Comscore—essentially the Nielsen ratings of the internet—to track right-wing media. (February is the most recent month with available Comscore data.) Some of the bigger names in the field have been pummeled the hardest: The Daily Caller lost 57 percent of its audience; Drudge Report, the granddaddy of conservative aggregation, was down 81 percent; and The Federalist, founded just over a decade ago, lost a staggering 91 percent. (The site's CEO and co-founder, Sean Davis, called that figure "laughably inaccurate" in an email but offered no further explanation.) FoxNews.com, by far the most popular conservative-news site, has fared better, losing "only" 22 percent of traffic, which translates to 23 million fewer monthly site visitors compared with four years ago.

What's so funny about this is that (save Infowars) these are all the sites that'd be defending Israel right now in their war on Gaza on everyone's Facebook feeds but instead they've all been algorithmically crushed.

The decision eight years ago to ban everyone on the "far-right" from social media and close their bank accounts has also clearly backfired as nearly all their ideas have gone mainstream and everyone from Tucker Carlson to Candace Owens is nowcalling out the Israel Lobby.

The conventional wisdom of the media and think-tanks agreed its line around the time the two-hundredth drone was shot down: Iran's assault on Israel was a flop.

A record number of drones, cruise and ballistic missiles were launched by the mullahs against the Zionist Entity: For the flight from Persia, a drone takes nine hours, a cruise two hours, and a ballistic missile about twelve minutes. Not a single drone or cruise missile made it to Israeli soil. A few of the ballistics penetrated the country's air space, lighting up the sky over the Temple Mount yet killing not a single Jew. An unlucky seven-year-old girl in a Bedouin encampment in the desert was injured by shrapnel, but for Tehran that's one lousy return on investment. For purposes of comparison, the usual West Bank bloodletting racked up a higher body count: a fourteen-year-old Israeli shepherd was found shot in the head yesterday.

Meanwhile, after six months in geopolitical Coventry, Israel is once again flush with allies:

If Iran had lobbed what they threw at Israel at the average EU member, its cities would be in flames and its mortuaries full. And it has worked.

Indeed. After forty-five years of loosing its lethal proxies on Jews all over the world, Iran decided to act as a sovereign state and for the first time openly sic its official armed forces on Israel.

But without killing anyone …and after giving the Sunni Arab states a seventy-two-hours advance warning. And, having offered up its most expensive baubles for Anglo-Franco-American-Jordanian target practice, Tehran has now assured the United Nations that it's had its fun and there will be no further strikes. This is the 'attack' prearranged for show between Iran and the Biden administration through backchannels.

You say "prearranged", he says "coordinated". Stranger things have happened: see the Nordstream pipeline, the Washington-Wuhan Pandemics R Us partnership, etc. And, if you're committed to the region's fetid "stability", last night certainly hits the sweet spot: Iran is permitted to go ballistic, nobody dies, thus discouraging any meaningful Israeli response …and the three western powers that gave us the modern Middle East get to saddle up and show that the old order still prevails.

To be sure, forcing the Sunni Arab states to choose between Persia's Shia supremacists and the Jews can be clarifying. But the sense of managed weirdness about last night should not disguise where we're headed on this. Washington's strategic thinking is as backward and befuddled as its nominal leader, while Tehran is patient and forward-looking: a Rubicon was crossed last night, and they would not have done that if they did not feel that it served their purpose and advanced their interests. Israel's suddenly re-enthused "allies" seek to tie its hands; last night, Iran's were loosened.

What’s the official explanation for Crossfire Hurricane? Well, if you look at the left-leaning propaganda site Wikipedia, this is what you get:

Crossfire Hurricane was the code name for the counterintelligence investigation undertaken by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from July 31, 2016, to May 17, 2017, into links between Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia and “whether individuals associated with [Trump’s] presidential campaign were coordinating, wittingly or unwittingly, with the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election”. Trump was not personally under investigation until May 2017, when his firing of FBI director James Comey raised suspicions of obstruction of justice, which triggered the Mueller investigation.

The investigation was officially opened on July 31, 2016, initially due to information on Trump campaign member George Papadopoulos’s early assertions of Russians having damaging material on Trump’s rival candidate Hillary Clinton which the Russians offered to anonymously release as assistance to the Trump campaign. From late July to November 2016, the joint effort between the FBI, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the National Security Agency (NSA) examined evidence of Russian meddling in the presidential election. The FBI’s team enjoyed a large degree of autonomy within the broader interagency probe.

In truth, it was one of the most significant political hit jobs the US government has ever unleashed on a political adversary here at home (that we know of). The entire Russia Hoax was kicked off by this phony intel investigation targeting President Trump. It tied his hands during his first term and painted him as a puppet for the Russian boogeyman—allegedly the real powerbehind the US throne. But this phony narrative wasn’t just about misleading the public; it was crafted to cause deep divisions within the US and convince half the country that they had a Russian “spy” in the White House. And the worst part? It was an inside job for our intel. When it all came out as fake, there was no apology from the shameless propaganda media, which blasted 24/7 fake news—from absurd, fake pee tape stories to secret meetings in dark corners of the globe. that never happened. Subject: Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Abuses at the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation

Purpose

This memorandum provides Members an update on significant facts relating to the

Committee’s ongoing investigation into the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and their use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (F ISA) during the 2016 presidential election cycle. Our findings, which are detailed below, 1) raise concerns with the legitimacy and legality of certain DOJ and FBI interactions with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), and 2) represent a troubling breakdown of legal processes established to protect the American people from abuses related to the ISA process.

Investigation Update

On October 21, 2016, DOJ and FBI sought and received a ISA probable cause order (not under Title VII) authorizing electronic surveillance on Carter Page from the FISC. Page is a US citizen who served as a volunteer advisor to the Trump presidential campaign. Consistent with requirements under FISA, the application had to be first certified by the Director or Deputy Director of the FBI. It then required the approval of the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General (DAG), or the Senate-confirmed Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division.

The FBI and DOJ obtained one initial FISA warrant targeting Carter Page and three FISA renewals from the FISC. As required by statute (50 U.S.C. §1805(d)(1)), a FISA order on an American citizen must be renewed by the FISC every 90 days and each renewal requires a separate finding of probable cause. Then-Director James Comey signed three FISA applications in question on behalf of the FBI, and Deputy Director Andrew McCabe signed one. Sally Yates, then-Acting DAG Dana Boente, and DAG Rod Rosenstein each signed one or more FISA applications on behalf of DOJ.

Due to the sensitive nature of foreign intelligence activity, FISA submissions (including renewals) before the FISC are classified. As such, the public’s confidence in the integrity of the FISA process depends on the court’s ability to hold the government to the highest standard— particularly as it relates to surveillance of American citizens. However, the rigor in protecting the rights of Americans, which is reinforced by 90-day renewals of surveillance orders, is necessarily dependent on the government’s production to the court of all material and relevant facts. This should include information potentially favorable to the target of the FISA application that is known by the government. In the case of Carter Page, the government had at least four independent opportunities before the FISC to accurately provide an accounting of the relevant facts. However, our findings indicate that, as described below, material and relevant information was omitted.

Who is the judge?

Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan, 61, is presiding over the case. Merchan, originally from Colombia, has served on the New York Supreme Court since 2009, overseeing felony criminal cases. He previously served as an assistant district attorney in the Manhattan DA’s office in the 1990s and worked in the New York State Attorney General's office, among other roles.

Merchan has previously overseen high-profile cases, including in 2012 the case of the "soccer mom madam," when a woman named Anna Gristina was charged with running a high-end prostitution ring in Manhattan. He also presided over the Trump Organization's 2022 criminal trial involving charges of criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records, and he is currently overseeing a case involving Trump-supporter Steven Bannon on charges that he defrauded donors to build a wall along the nation’s southern border.

Trump has railed against Merchan on Truth Social, including last month when he called on the judge to recuse himself and cited Merchan’s daughter and her work as a political consultant for Democratic politicians.

Ukraine is eager to receive the anti-aircraft weapons by any means necessary, its foreign minister has said

Ukraine is willing to accept any conditions that Western donors attach to supplies of long-range air defense systems, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on national TV on Monday.

A single MIM-104 Patriot battery, which is manufactured by US arms giant Raytheon,costs over $1 billion.

President Vladimir Zelensky told US media last month that Ukraineneeds at least five to sevenof them to protect its industrial capacity from Russian long-range strikes. Kuleba has been at the forefront of lobbying the US and its allies.

”Behind closed doors, I tell all of our partners: ‘My dears, anything you want. You want them to be leased, so be it. You want them to protect your border, they will. Just give them,’”Kuleba said in an interview with TSN.

He stressed that the US has the final say on transfers of these weapons, since its approval is required. Washington could easily share some from its own stockpiles, the minister added.

”I don’t believe – and I suppose nobody in Ukraine would believe – that the huge US Army doesn’t have at least one Patriot battery [to send],” he stated.

The host of the program floated a scenario in which Poland could use its own Patriot systems to intercept Russian missiles over Ukraine. Kuleba said he considers it “realistic.”

Kiev is in negotiations with Western donors to receive two additional US-made Patriot systems and one French-Italian SAMP/T system, the foreign minister added. According to Western media, Ukraine currently operates at least three Patriot batteries and one SAMP/T. Kiev has reportedly approached Poland, Spain, and Romania for additional weapons.

Some Western officials have already publicly declined to help. Last week, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Berlin’s stockpile of Patriots are “pretty much exhausted.” Poland has “nothing to give [in terms of Patriot systems] even if we wanted to,” according to President Andrzej Duda.

Moscow perceives the arming of Kiev by the West as an attempt to prolong the hostilities with Russia at the expense of Ukrainian lives. In recent weeks, the Russian military has conducted several long-range strikes on Ukrainian power stations. President Vladimir Putin said the strikes were in retaliation for Kiev’s targeting of Russian energy infrastructure with kamikaze drones, which was ramped up in January.

China launches commercial SuperView-3 remote sensing sat

HELSINKI — China continued construction of a commercial constellation of remote sensing satellites early Monday with the launch of the SuperView-3 (01) satellite.

A Long March 2D rocket lifted off from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 12:12 a.m. Eastern, April 15 (0412 UTC). The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) confirmed launch success shortly after, revealing the payload to be SuperView-3 (01).

CASC described SuperView-3 (01) (also known as Gaojing-3 (01)) as China’s first commercial optical remote sensing satellite with an ultra-large width of more than 130 kilometers. The satellite is designed to provide 0.5-meter resolution and 9-band combined image data products.

The satellite will provide commercial remote sensing data services to support digital agriculture, urban modeling, and live 3D mapping, among other applications. Land surveying and disaster prevention and mitigation, and maritime monitoring purposes are also noted.

The SuperView, or Gaojing, satellites are part of a planned commercial remote sensing constellation. CASC, in its “blue book,” which outlines China’s space plans for 2024, stated it will continue work on a “four-dimensional new generation commercial remote sensing satellite system.”

This SuperView system, according to earlier statements, is to comprise at least 28 satellites. These include high-resolution optical payloads, wide-width optical payloads, high-resolution radar payloads and other diversified types of commercial remote sensing satellites.

It will also support the integration and value-added services of the Beidou GNSS system, and integrate satellite applications into emerging fields to support key regional economic development.

The first pairs of SuperView-1 satellites were launched in 2016 and 2018 respectively. A pair of SuperView-2 satellites were launched in 2022. All SuperView satellites have been sent into sun-synchronous orbits. The satellite operator is China Siwei Surveying and Mapping Technology Co., Ltd, a CASC subsidiary.

The commercial aspect is part of China’s broader strategy to enter and compete in the global market for satellite imagery.

China also has a commercial Earth observation firm in the shape of Changguang Satellite Technology (CGST). The Changchun-based remote sensing constellation operator is a well-backed spinoff from the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ CIOMP.

CGST has more than 100 Jilin-1 series satellites in orbit, including optical and video satellites, with panchromatic resolution of around 0.70 meters. In 2022 it expanded its plans to launch 300 satellites by 2025. This move followed the high-profile role of U.S. commercial satellite constellations in the Ukraine conflict.

The launch was China’s 16th orbital mission of 2024. The country is planning to launch around 100 times during the year, with CASC responsible for around 70 of these. Commercial actors are planning close to 30 launches.

Major launches in the coming weeks include the Shenzhou-18 crewed mission to the Tiangong space station early April 25. The Chang’e-6 lunar far side sample return mission is set to launch in early May.
