He's wrong it should have lasted 3-5 seasons. They hit a sharp decline in quality after season 3 that they never fully recovered from. There were a handful of good episodes every season but never as much as seasons 1 or 2.

Post season 2 shit starts going down hill. Even the finale to season 2, where Faust was no longer in command immedietly introduced a new alicorn and a new family member who should have been around all those times they visited canterlot in season 1 and 2. Also suddenly Twilight was nolonger an social recluse and her babysitter who has an almost sister like relationship with her is fucking ROYALTY! The episodes where good and all, but set a lot of bad precedents that would go on to fuck over the entire show. Season 3 gave us the blatant fan pandering episodes, the least interesting season opening episodes in the show and the single worst episode of the show as the finale, but was otherwise fine. Season 4 onwards was a trashfire going increasingly out of control, with shitty and forgettable episodes easily outnumbering the watchable ones, characters getting flanderized and plots getting dumber and dumber.
The show should have ended after season 2, with the new team of writers making their own stuff instead of pissing all over what we had. Maybe more stories set in the same universe but about different characters or something.
Season 3 can be included if you stretch it, though it has some real stinkers.
Season 4 to 9 (so far) could easily be reduced to a single season with cherry picking good episodes if you are desperate for more.
I do agree that both FIM and the Simpsons share the fate of having gone on for far too long.

They are so easy to recognise by how they assume the show was good when they began watching and slowly get disappointed by its continuing downward spiral latter on.
And no, MMC is worse than all your examples, since it was not only a terrible episode on its own, being a rushed song-song-song-song mess that forgot to actually explore any part of its premise in any kind of way, while leaving glaring plot holes, leaving terrible implications for how the world works, bastardised all the mane 6 into shallow one dimensional characters and on top of all that, it also fucked up the world building and character development of the main character beyond all repair.
Nothing the school has done has fucked over its setting and world building to the same degree. All it has ever managed to do is piss on the carcass of the long dead show and dig its hole a little deeper bit by bit.
To make an analogy, imagine if fellowship of the ring had ended with the destruction of the one ring and the remaining two books had just been the main characters bumming around middle earth randomly fighting irrelevant orcs. That's what MMC did.

It's highly probable she would still have gone off the deep end and become a hardcore feminazi if she had gotten to make all 9 seasons of FIM. But she didn't get to. She only got to make 2, and those where made before she went off the deep end. She was most likely also kept on a leash by Hasbro who would still wouldn't have been fond of making the show political, so however aggressively progressive she was at the time, it didn't get to color the show. Another reason why seasons 1 and 2 are so much better than the latter seasons.

Nice fearmongering. Lauren Faust is significantly less political than the people who have actually been working on the show for the past several seasons. There's no reason to believe the show would have ended up any more pozzed than it did if Faust had stayed on. If Vogel, Dubuc, and Haber were unwilling to do the cliche "gurl power" episode, I doubt Lauren would have.
