There's a few good episodes and a lot of bad ones so far.
The villain episodes have been good so far and the 200th episode was ok too, the rest have been varying degrees of awful.

I quit watching after Twilicorn. I don't really have any interest in seeing how bad it got. Making her an alicorn was fucking retarded enough, but doing it at the end of season 3 was so fucking retarded I remain at a loss to this day.

Awful. The worst in the series. The friendship school sends the show off the rails worse than Twilicorn did, but even if there was no school, it would still be badly written. There's no more character development. Most of the original cast have no purpose anymore; even Glimmer is treated like a legacy character despite being introduced much later.

Season 8 was incredibly mediocre. Most of the episodes I do remember are ones that I wouldn't give a damn about watching ever again. The only ones I might recommend are The Parent Map and Road to Friendship. Season 9's overarching plot is much better (so far), with episodes like Frenemies being top tier. Granted, there's some real stinkers this season too. The only other episodes I might recommend are Sparkle's Seven and maybe The Point of No Return and Student Counsel.

Season 8 was irredeemable garbage with maybe the Glimmer/Trixie lesbo roadtrip and the existence of Cozy Glow as the evil loli as a high point. The rest of the season is so dumb and badly written, that Pinkie going Pinkamena alcoholic because she was told she was bad at an instrument doesn't seem out of place. Season 9 is only a little bit better, in that sometimes they're actually trying. The premiere's biggest sin was being rushed and a bit illogical, and Frenemies was actually fun.

She deserved so much better. Her developmental arc was just arbitrarily cut into like 40% of what it would have been under any reasonable show direction. I wanted her to eventually be a powerful archmage but not a fucking alicorn, not in a personality starved gay castle playset but in her comfy and visually striking treehouse. Not royalty, but a beloved hero of Equestria nonetheless. I could go on, but I tear up thinking of how perfect old Twi was vs. new Twi.

I gave up "officially" at the beginning of season 7, but had been skipping through episodes throughout season 6 due to their overly-childish dialogue, obnoxious background music, and predictable or outright retarded plots. That being said, I have been watching the openers and finales, and have watched most of season 9, albeit with frequent skips or pauses where I do something else to ease my suffering for a few minutes.
