Midseason Hiatus Time! Only 13 more episodes until the end. And what better way to celebrate than with an episode penned by uber-feminist and part-time parade balloon Gail Simone. I have a feeling that quite a number of people are going to like this one. Your Mileage May Vary.

Enjoy!

Oh you poor naive fool. Can you possibly conceive of the horrors that await you?

Celestia now has the pleb tier taste, hates culture and wants to go ziplining despite the fact that SHE CAN FUCKING FLY

Luna is a shutin who's idea of a vacation is spending half a day standing in line at the post office to mail a postcard to someone standing next to her

>I have a feeling that quite a number of people are going to like this one. Your Mileage May Vary.

Surely this is sarcasm?

Anyway, repostan', because my opinion matters :^) just don't feel like rewatching/rewriting:

Yet another "waaaah my sister doesn't understand my feewings ;_;" episode, eh? Anyway, the episode would have worked as a parody or spin-off, but this is the regular show. The Princesses are painfully moronic here just like everyone else ;_;

I enjoyed the visual gag with Pinkie Pie and the whisk. It was disgusting and I smiled.

Why doesn't Twilight know what the Royal Swanifying is?

Tabitha St. Germain has a very nice voice, and I really want to French kiss Luna. Her pulling the prickles out of her ass must have been fan service, there's no fucking way it wasn't. Top. Unf.

I like Celestia, but in this episode, Luna is clearly the Patrician between the two.

>"If we ask for help, it's like admitting we're not as good as the Princesses."

YOU WHAT, YOU DUMB WHORE? DID YOU NOT HEAR WHAT THEY SAID, OR SEE HOW THEY REACTED TO YOU? THEY'RE MEANT FOR THE PRINCESSES; THE PRINCESSES WERE EXPECTING THEIR HELP, YOU STUPID FUCKING CUNT.

It's so frustrating. I miss old, competent, non-over-powered Twilight. Can you imagine how could of a ruler she'd be?

What, she didn't read the list already when she denied the advisors?

The song sounds very familiar… "Top of the World" "Bare Necessities" something from the Toy Story series of films? Not sure. Also, you know, the song in Frenemies was good, but it too sort of reminded me of something else….

The Princesses' petty dispute contrasts pretty painfully with the Mane 6's troubles. They look really pathetic, especially Celestia, because we've seen Celestia get her way more often than Luna here (ignoring when they behaved more formally, and the justified banishment to the Moon; both would have felt horrible lonely, even if Nightmare Moon mightn't have realized she felt that way, if at all after turning evil). While they're bitching, the Mane 6 are frantically trying to fix the problems in Canterlot. Though, it was nice to seem some pony politics (as opposed to IRL politics like the Season 8 opener) again with the strike, even if very minor. The issues were resolved pretty stupidly, though.

Naked Luna on the beach was also nice. Are they trying to make Luna into fap-bait? Why is she the only one moaning in pain this episode? Unf. And the way she turns around in the bed, while still naked… again: Top. Unf.

Wait, is Celestia afraid of chickens, or was she just still shaking from before she knew the object of her fear was just a chicken? I really hope it's the latter.

I laughed when Twilight said "So THIS is how you rule Equestria!", and not in a good way. She seems power hungry, and that's funny.

Did they really need to show us what they were referencing when the Sun and Moon were up together?

Admittedly, I chuckled when they noticed Twilight needed help, though dunno why they couldn't just do it from there. But it feels bad because Twilight is not incompetent. ;_;

Holy shit, that was awful. The whole thing felt rushed; it felt like I was watching a normal episode played on a faster speed. Everyone felt out of character. Twilight is, for some reason, not sperging out at being tasked with running the kingdom. Celestia and Luna keep acting like they're privy to some joke that no one else is in on but nobody calls them out on it. Also, Tabitha sounded like she was phoning it in quite a bit with Luna. Not to mention the MEME FACES EVERYWHERE.

This episode is probably the worst of the season so far. I’m honestly tired of seeing the Princess act as if they were mentally deficient teenage girls, their supposed to be over a thousand year old diarchs, with almost demigod like status, not childish 14 year olds who couldn’t run a fucking nursery, never mind an entire nation for over a millennial!

You’d imagine that Celestia would at least be somewhat competent given the fact that she was the sole ruler of Equestria for just over a thousand years, as well fearing for her sister because of her dark past. Given that Luna broke down and almost enslaved the entire world in eternal night as well as forcing a harsh dictatorship on all of Equestria, solely because her sister was neglectful and didn’t spend enough time with her, you’d think that Celestia would be at least more concerned with her sisters mental health and abandonment issues, but in this episode she acts like a complete sociopath, ignoring her sister and only doing what she wants, until she eventually just completely abandons her, for completely selfish reasons, because she’d rather do what she wants than listen to her sisters concerns and corporate. That is a level of sociopathy that shouldn’t be possible.

You literally banished your sister to the moon by herself for a thousand years because your neglect drove her to madness, and now that she’s returned you’d rather act like a spoiled little filly than look after your extremely mentally unstable sister, to the point of fucking abandonment and neglect, again! Did you learn nothing during that thousand years!? How the hell do you keep the nation together when you’re so incompetent and sociopathic at keeping something like a personal relationship for going to complete shit!?

Don’t get me wrong Luna wasn’t the best in this episode either, in fact she acted almost equally as childish as Celestia. But at least in her case it’s understandable because of her background of neglect and social isolation. Celestia however has absolutely no excuse for acting the way she did towards Luna, or just in general.

This is why I’ve always argued that the Princesses should take a more background and relaxed role in the series. They should only be featured in season openings or endings, or on rare occasions where they’re actually relevant to the plot, like in Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep, which was a great Luna episode. The reason that Luna worked so well in that episode is because it wasn’t explicitly a Luna episode, but she was still extremely relevant to the plot, which gave her a lot of much appreciated screen time. She was regal, mature, commanding, respectful, but most important of all, she actually acted like a fucking adult, and a Princess.

A good example of bad Princess episode would be Horse Play. This episode doesn’t just happen to include Celestia as an important part of the plot, the whole thing revolves around her. And in that episode just like this one she’s a complete childish mess, that comes off more like a spoiled brat than a millennia plus year old diarch who rules over what is to our knowledge the most powerful nation on her world. In this episode the vainer of regalness and wisdom that emanates from the Princess is clearly shown as nothing more than a thin gold plating. She looks impressive from a distance, but up close she’s little more than child in the horseshoes of a Goddess. The Princes no clothes, in both a literal and figurative sense.

>>325747

Look at an IRL example of a regal monarch in our Queen. The Queen doesn’t comment on politics, or just about anything for that matter, and she stays well in the back deciding to take a more reserved position from the public. She’s regal because she holds such a reserved stance, only making appearances and talking to the public when absolutely necessary, without saying a word more. It gives her a certain sense of professionalism and class that the Princesses, especially Celestia just don’t have.

Also just to finish my main criticism of this episode off. I find the side senses in which the main 6 struggle to set up the gala until they simply delegate everything down to someone to be quite fitting in hindsight. I imagine that Celestia has done nothing but delegate all of her royal duties down to her “inferiors,” because she clearly can’t handle even the simplest situation or bit of stress. Seems like she delegated away too many of her duties and got lazy and complacent for a few centuries. Hell she's spent the whole series delegating untold amounts of authority and power down to 6 young adults, to the point where she’s literally handing her very job over to them. (I wonder how Luna feels about that by the way. Having no power and being stuck on the moon for a thousand years because of Celestia, only to come back slowly regain her power, so that her sister can once again take all of said power away. Talk about a fucking buzzkill.)

Also as a funny little side note. All I could think about while watching this episode was the way the Princesses had their tails in a bun. Giving how high up their buns were it’s very clear that anyone walking behind them, or even besides them would have a perfect view of both of the Princesses pussies and anuses. I like to the think that the Princess were purposely revealing themselves to as many stallions possible, as part of some kind of kinky exhibitionist fetish.

Imagine being a stallion standing directly behind Celestia or Luna for several long minutes in a line while having a perfect view of both Princesses fully exposed plots, that are mere inches away from your face. Ünf, notices your swollen clit!

1/10, the only reason that I’m not giving it 0/10 is because the song was quite decent, but other than that this episode was pure shit. Well… and all the fun I had imaging how all of those stallions, and mares must have reacted while standing behind or walking behind the two Princesses, ha ha! Someone has to write a fanfiction about that.

Anyway, here’s this episodes song, https://youtube.com/watch?v=9IOYxfm05TM

>wanting little girls to have a good adventure show

Female protags predate feminism, if anything the shortage of good fiction for girls resulted partly from feminists trying too hard to police what was acceptable.

>post-2012 feminism/SJWs

Feminism was always tainted. The first wave's policy goals were trying to ban alcohol from existence and implementing extreme taxation (the top income tax rate jumped from 15% to 67% in 1917 thanks to women pushing their husbands to vote for Progressives). They also regularly vandalized shit to try to get jail sentences and "prove" they were equal to men. The second wave pushed us into the dual-income trap and allowed no fault divorce and the default even splitting of assets, so now women who get married instead of pursuing a full time career pine how they definitely would've been CEOs by now, and they have a 50% chance of taking 50% of your life's work. They also got abortion on demand and condoms none of them bother to check for after the first date, so now America has the highest STD rate in the industrialized world. Third wave feminism, even prior to 2012, talked about spreading feminist ideals to other countries but only actually cared about white westerners. It was always shit. As much as feminists clamor for good female characters, the only way they actually deliver them is by at least temporarily setting aside feminist priorities for how to think, talk, and solve conflicts.

You missed my point. It sounds uninspired; besides sort of sounding like this mix of "Top of the World" and "Bear Necessities", it just sounds lazy. I don't like it because it doesn't sound great, as if Ingram just changed a few notes here and there so that it'd sound different. Anyway. Also,

>Nihil sub sole novum.

This is dangerous thinking, about as bad as always wanting something fresh and new. The former extreme excuses vanilla shit like what Hollywood feeds to the masses, and the latter extreme promotes lazy, gimmicky "art" pieces. Just be careful.

>>325791

That sort of capital-letter/number hyphenated filename I've been seeing more and more of as 8chan becomes worse and worse. I heard from one anon that it was a smartphone filename, or a filename that is randomly generated on some devices when the image is saved, but it could be a social media filename, i.e. saving a picture from facebook uses their own code, like saving hash or unix (or whatever the h and u stand for; not as tech-orientated as I should be) on 8chan generates a string of numbers and letters. I wouldn't know for sure, because I don't have a smartphone or use social media.

It's just odd and doesn't seem to belong.

>I was implying that Celestia probably delegated all of her royal duties to her “inferiors,” because if this episode made anything clear, it’s that she’s not responsible enough to deal with basic interpersonal relations, never mind rule an entire nation.

I see now, it was just odd that you said that after

> I find the side senses in which the main 6 struggle to set up the gala until they simply delegate everything down to someone

which seemed to me that you were suggesting they weren't necessarily supposed to do that at first, even though the gala ponies were clearly meant to be doing most of the micromanaging anyway.

This shit pisses me off though. In the Season 4 opener, Twilight on her own had total control of the situation when the Princesses turned up missing. She's not a fucking useless spastic who can't handle even a modicum of pressure without having a panic attack. And her friends just eye-roll at this as if her antics were nothing and that they just don't take her seriously. The only times she went nuts were when she had—or felt like she had—lost control of the situation.

I can't wait until G5. At least then they won't be raping G4 anymore.

I knew you'd tell me that. But that implication is out of your own mind, man. It's all in your head.

Which then begs the question: Well, if he didn't mean that, then why specify in such a way? Well, the anon said

>I get you're referring to post-2012 feminism/SJWs, but still.

clearly in reply to this line

>>episode written by feminist doesn't get overwhelmed with feminist doctrine

which suggests that you are mostly familiar with SJWs, which really began to be taken notice after 2012. Most if not all of these SJWs, besides being ideologues, are uncreative hacks—dysfunctional people make dysfunctional products. Lauren Faust is a feminist, and some of her goals when making this show were feminist in nature, but even when she had her way or even if she had her way totally, her feminist goals were always in a backseat, which is why no one has an issue with the early seasons. So, you were expecting an SJW to force her shit, as they are known to do. But, while feminism is a cancer that broke the man and the woman apart, most people would consider themselves feminist to a degree, that is, they believe men and women are equal. That doesn't mean they're going to push ideological doctrines into their writing, especially with Hasbro/DHX having a tighter leash on content than is normal nowadays (compared to Disney, CN and Nick anyway). It's likely the anon replied with that because the popular (for forums like this one) understanding of feminism in media is with the SJWs, and made the differentiation.

And your line "Feminism was always tainted." implies that you believe the concept itself is fine, yeah? The definition "a thing whose influence or effect is perceived as contaminating or undesirable." cannot be applied in the past-tense, because it is not a verb like the "contaminate." definition. If so, boy I hope not.

Also, I didn't read the first two lines last time for whatever reason when I first replied >>325783, but your response

>Female protags predate feminism

to the line

>wanting little girls to have a good adventure show

is a non sequitur, likely made based on the fact that SJWs love to make their protagonists female in the name of their ideology. MLP: FIM is marketed towards little girls, and often shows marketed towards little girls are entirely made up based on market research, with all the cliches they're known for. Even though there are some stories that are considered "for girls" that aren't so cliched, they're few in number (or at least not as accessible) relative to the heavily market-influenced shows. Faust believes little girls don't actually like those sorts of shows, and wanted to try to make something that was more complex that could actually be enjoyed. Of course, she only got part of her way—the adventure elements are generally kept at a minimum, but this has nothing to do with the sex of the protagonist. Again, you probably wrote that as a result of SJWs believing that a female Mary Sue protagonist makes for good storytelling in the name of feminism; your understanding has been warped due to constant exposure to this sort of political stimuli. Take a break from it all for a few days.

Anyway, that's what I think that anon was talking about and how everyone became confused. Probably fucked some things up, am tired.

If my information is correct that the midseason hiatus ends during BronyCon and they stick to their usual broadcast schedule of a week per episode (including a two-parter finale) the last episodes will air 23 November. This is of course not discounting some retard country like Italy, UK or Canada airing the entire last half early.

Sorry, I thought this thread was dead, so I didn’t check in on it until now.

>I heard from one anon that it was a smartphone filename,

That must be it then. Although I don’t know why people get so autistic about phone posters. I don’t have the money to buy a PC, and I’m certainly not buying a laptop and getting used to a whole different way of posting, because a bunch of samefags didn’t like smartphone posters, for some reason that’s completely unbeknownst to me.

Why do people get so worked up over this? Surely it’s the quality of the user and not the platform he uses that counts?

>She's not a fucking useless spastic who can't handle even a modicum of pressure without having a panic attack.

Welcome to post season 5, if my earlier. All the characters in the show have increasingly became nothing but caricatures of themselves, because for the most part all the old writers are gone and the new ones lack any sense of nuance. They just pick a handful of said characters most notable traits and then make said character nothing more than those extreme traits.

So what's up with this? Did they animate this or just dubbed over it? What's up with the facts; fake? What's the source of the synth piece at the end of the short, assuming they didn't make it for this short?

The animation is from the 1980s version of My Little Pony. The human girl is Megan, who went on adventures with talking ponies in G1, back around 1982. It amuses me to imagine her as an angry, cynical Gen X'er in the present day.

The "facts" have been added after the fact by the makers of the video. They're jokes.

As for the music at the end, I have no idea.
