I've been on both sites daily ever since 4chanX started supporting other chans and I could have threads from different sites in the same watcher. Even before that, I came on 8ch from time to time.
I mostly lurk both sites and post almost daily on 4chan, but I've made only a handful of posts here, and on the other boards I follow on 8ch.
I don't know why, but everything seems so slow here, it doesn't really draw my attention.
For what my opinion is worth, I don't think you have much to fear. /mlp/ is a shadow of its former self, and has since become divided into factions that barely stand the existence of each other.
Even in the event of some 4chan mass exodus, only a small part would come here, and they would probably leave soon after. There's already too many pony or semi-pony related boards, and all of them are quite dead. Split the disorientated userbase between these too and you'll be left with even less people.
Tl;Dr
I think this place is too slow for /mlp/ regular users, and even for /mlp/ shitposters that will probably go back to reddit or whatever place they came from.
